Author's Note: Now this one of the UF Zine entries I'm most proud of, this is one is once again set in the Swap AU. Focusing more on Blue Pearl; she serves as a secret agent for Garnet during the war and now serves as secret guardian to the Twins.

The song I picked is from the Tangled series or mainly Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure.

Waiting in the Wings.

"Watch over them."

Her Diamond's last order still rings in her head

Hidden deep inside a cave not too far from Beach City, she lives her life in secret lonely solitude and surrounding the cavern walls are pictures and paintings with lots chalk and buckets of paint on the floor.

Blue Pearl (As to not be confused with the Crystal Gem's renegade Pearl) stands in the middle of the cavern observing her work.

Each painting and chalk drawing show the same; Images of Blue Diamond, of Sapphire and Ruby, Garnet standing proud with all the Crystal Gems behind her with Blue Pearl at her side, and lastly images of Blue Pearl holding and or playing with Dipper and Mable.

The drawings she made are moments that she wishes to be a part of, but sadly she kept her orders of secrecy until the moment was right.

She wishes to prove herself, prove to be an ally, a friend, a fellow Crystal Gem, but most importantly she wishes to be with her Diamond's children.

Still she obeys the instructions of her Diamond. To destroy Homeworld tech that was left behind. Stop corrupted gems if The Crystal Gems missed one, and to guard and protect the children when the others are not around.

"Remain hidden, remain watching, don't be seen unless there is no other way."

That was the orders, that was her mission, and yet she wish…

Blue Pearl sighs while looking at her paintings of Blue Diamond.

Blue Pearl: Some of us are forged with parts to play.

Some of us are stars and some are just in the way.

She said I was meant for glory, but that's never what my story brings.

And yet I keep on waiting.

She turns to her other paintings. Paintings showing her fighting alongside Garnet, her standing up to Pink, White, and even Yellow Diamond while protecting Sapphire as she was being held by Ruby, and then one of her being cheered by both Gem and human kind, like a hero.

Blue Pearl: When you have the passion and the drive.

You expect your moment center stage to arrive.

I show up with gem ablazing ready to achieve amazing things.

But I'm left waiting in the wings.

Blue Pearl turned to the drawings of Dipper and Mable and the many adventures she saw them had with their friends, whenever she saw them, she always draws what she feels are the best moments of their lives.

Including when they 1st used their powers, when they found Tiger, when they made friends with Steven and Connie, and their first fusions with them and in the center of these artworks is the most important one.

The moment when they 1st fused together as Twin.

Blue Pearl: I hear my cue and yet I'm kept there waiting.

Know what to do and still I stand there waiting.

It's always someone else who sings.

While I'm left waiting in the wings.

Blue Pearl pulled out her sword from her gem and stood proudly like her drawings and used her holographs to make copies of the Crystal Gems and the twins as she stood with them and helped them fight invisible monsters.

Till she realized the foolishness of this and ends this farce and stands in front of the portrait of Blue Diamond, her fist work of art.

Blue Pearl: And so I keep on keeping on.

My chances come and then I blink and they're gone.

Always overlooked unfairly while pretending that it barely stings.

But it stings, yes it stings and I'll shed no tears!

I'll only keep on waiting.

If no-one cheers.

Well, I can keep on waiting.

Who cares how loud! The silence rings.

She kneels as tears fall from her face.

Blue Pearl: You'll find me waiting in the wings.

After a couple of seconds, she stands up and wipes the tears from her face, she pulls her hood up and leaves the cavern on another lonely solo mission.

Author's Note: And now for something that wasn't including in the UF Zine…causes it did not come out till the episode aired.

The Reprise! Featuring Young SWAP Dipper and Mabel (Think the age they were at during the flashback to their picture day in the second part at Weirdmageddon.)

Waiting in the Wings Reprise.

"Okay Gems, ready?"

"I am always ready, Rose," Pearl said as she stood close to Rose on her left, then suddenly Amethyst bounced in the form of a ball before reverting back.

"I'm ready to throw down!" Amethyst grinned, causing Rose to chuckle and Pearl to groan till Amethyst stood on Rose's right.

Rose Quartz smiled at her two comrades, "Good now let's-"

"Achoo!"

All three of the Crystal Gems jumped a little at the noise. They looked down and standing in front of Rose, their leader's children. Mabel with her usual smile while holding onto Dipper's hand while he used his other to wipe his noise.

"Darn allergies," Dipper sniffed.

"Dipper, I told you before, sneeze into your fossa," Pearl scolded.

Rose gently turned the twins around to face her as she bended herself down to their eye level.

"Dipper, Mable. What are you two doing?"

"We're going with you guys on the mission!" Mabel announced with glee, "And I got myself new pigtails for the occasion," She said as she shook her head to show the gems.

"Nice! Do my hair next Mabs," Amethyst grinned.

"Now Mabel you and Dipper both know you both are not ready to go on a Gem mission yet," Pearl reminded them.

"Not unless we learn to control our powers yet," Mabel added, "But we have, watch!"

The Gems watched as Mabel hold out her pinky and closed her eyes and focused and after a few seconds, steamed came out of her little finger.

"See!" Mabel said proudly, "Your turn Dipper."

Dipper groaned, "Mabel do I have to?"

Mabel shook her head causing him to sigh. Dipper took a deep breath and slowly blew, then small snowflakes flew out of his mouth.

"TADA!" Mabel posed beside Dipper who just rubbed his noise on his sleeves.

The Gems looked at each other nervously, neither one of them wanting to bring the kids down.

As always Rose took charge.

"Dipper, Mable," She said gently, "I know you both really want to help, but we can handle this ourselves."

Mable lowered her head sadly and Dipper patted her back in comfort. Feeling bad Rose patted their heads gently.

"But don't worry. I promise you both will get the chance to helps us, so until then you both stay safe here and guard the temple."

"Indeed," Pearl nodded, "You both do a wonderful job guarding the Temple."

"And you both do a better job at cleaning this place then Pearl," Amethyst added.

"Well they do a nice job," Pearl said under her breath causing Amethyst to elbow her waist.

Rose patted the twins head one more time and returned to her spot on the warp pad, and then in like that the gems vanished leaving the twins alone.

"Well," Mabel smiled, "Let's get to cleaning."

"We're never going to go on a mission with them," Dipper pouted before letting out another sneeze.

"Of course we will Dipper," Mabel said while grabbing a broom and getting started on cleaning, "We'll just have to wait."

Dipper sighed, "Like always."

Dipper: Guess by now we ought to know our place.

Mabel: Do our humble duties with a smile on our face.

Yes, we know the gems all love us.

Dipper: Yet they're always doing other things.

Dipper and Mable: So we'll keep waiting in the wings.

Unbeknownst to the twins, just outside their house, they are being observed by their silent protector.

Blue Pearl watched from their window, carefully not to be seen by them as she watched them as she always does.

Wishing to play a more active role in their lives, but sadly not yet.

Blue Pearl: I craved so much, and yet I keep on waiting.

She gently placed her hand on the window as she watched them.

Blue Pearl: One glance, one touch and I just keep on waiting.

Then as soon as one or both of the twins turn their heads, she quickly moves away from the window, out of their sight.

Dipper, Mable and Blue Pearl: And when it comes, it'll come with strings.

Quickly Blue Pearl runs away from the house but not before glancing back, longing for the day she will officially be part of their lives.

Blue Pearl: So I'll keep waiting in the wings.
