Sunday May 18, 1986
Hill Valley, California
3:30 PM
(Sonic booms appear outside of Hill Valley and the DeLorean drives towards Doc's garage house)
Doc: Here we are back in good old 1986. Now let's head over to the garage sale.
(They make it to the garage sale)
Doc: Sales still going on. That's good.
Marty: But I thought we would try to stop this estate sale?
Doc: Estate sale? No Marty I'm not dead. Clara and I are just having a garage sale.
Marty: Wait a minute Doc are you telling me you live here now in 1986?
Doc: Well technically. Clara and I maintain a part time residence here. Wasn't that the case when me and the family left 1985 on the train for more adventures?
Marty: No. But if you guys maintain part time residence here then why didn't you and the family come and visit me the past 7 months?
Doc: Because I wanted you to have your own life free from time travel and so you can improve yourself without my help.
Marty: Oh. Well I've done pretty well without you since I still have Jennifer and my band. But these past seven months have been pretty depressing because I've really missed you. But at the same time I'm happy that you have a better life in the old west than you do here.
Doc: Oh Marty I just wanted you to know that I was alive, well and happy with a wife and kids. Besides, if I didn't invent that time train I wouldn't be able to run my fathers and mothers foundation and present The Erhardt and Sarah Lathrop Brown scholarship for young scientists.
Marty: Oh...
Lorraine: Marty! You're back! Well looks like the Doc is back!
Doc: Well only for a while until my new wife Clara gets here.
Clara: I'm here.
Lorraine: Well isn't this your lovely new wife? Hello my name is Lorraine McFly. I'm Marty's mom.
Clara: Nice to meet you Lorraine, I'm Clara, Emmett's wife since December 15.
George: Well hello Marty and Emmett.
Doc: George I'd like you to meet my new wife Clara.
George: Pleasure to meet you. I'm Marty's dad, science fiction author of A Match Made In Space, and professor of English Literature at Hill Valley College.
Clara: I've read A Match Made in Space. It's one of the best books I've ever read. You're the best science fiction author along with Jules Verne.
George: Why thank you Clara. And yeah I love Jules Verne. I have every book of his. Also, keep an eye out for more of my novels and check out my past short stories. Oh and Robert Zemeckis is planning to make A Match Made In Space into a movie which should be released next summer.
Doc: How fascinating
Biff: Hey guys! Oh hi Doc, I thought you were dead. (walks into the garage)
Kid: Did my son just go in there?
Marty: Kid Tannen!
Kid: Don't be scared. I turned away from my criminal ways after meeting my good friend Edna Strickland in jail whom helped me realize that I can change for the better.
Edna: Yes Irving. By meeting you in prison, you've helped me realize that there is good in people after all… even people who are evil. And people can change with the help of other good influential people.
Biff: Oh hi dad. Hi Edna.
Kid: Hi ya son. Find anything good in the sale?
Biff: Found something you might like (Biff, Kid, and Edna walk in the garage)
George: Nice meeting you Clara. We're about to head back to the house. Meet you there Marty. (Him and Lorraine walk to the car)
Marty: So you're telling me that you and Clara are selling your belongings to the public so it can be cleared for a new parking garage?
Doc: Yes Marty. I was living in the west more than here so I decided to give it to someone who wants this as a parking garage.
Marty: Then why did you decide to stay with Clara in the west rather than you two come back to 1985 with me?
Doc: As I said I wanted you to have your own life and I loved Clara so much that I didn't want her to be overwhelmed with trying to learn 100 years of historical and other information. Besides we've been staying in our house most of the time to avoid altering history.
Clara: And with the train I've already learned almost everything about future history after the western era ended.
Marty: Have you two discussed moving back here from the old west so you guys don't accidently alter more western Hill Valley history?
Doc: Well Marty, Clara and I have actually discussed moving to the mid-1990s permanently soon. Her and the kids will move to September 1993 while I move to around June 1994.
Marty: But how will that work out in terms of social security numbers and birth certificates.
Doc: I've worked everything out Marty. Don't worry. We also plan to come to your graduation along with your party next month. Oh and speaking of graduation I got you a little graduation and birthday present. (Runs to DeLorean and runs back to Marty) Here you go. A detailed history of your family starting with your great great grandfather Seamus to the present.
Marty: You traveled all these years to do research on my family? So that's why you traveled to 1936, to get info on my grandma and grandpa.
Doc: Precisely but most of the research was done traditionally.
Marty: Thanks Doc. I'll see you and the family in the future.
Doc: Exactly.
Clara: But we'll still come around and visit him every now and then before we move to the 90s will we?
Doc: Of course we will!
Marty: Great!
Doc and Clara: See you in the future! (Doc hops on the train and Clara hops on the DeLorean back to 1893)
(The train and DeLorean head back to 1893 in sonic booms)
