DURING HER SHOPPING WITH INO, Sakura had gotten a lot of stares. She knew that the news of her pregnancy was going around as fast as a an airborne disease as she walked the streets with Ino. Though the stares weren't anything condensing, they were ones of awe.
Being that she's the apprentice of one of the legendary Sanin as well as being respected throughout all the nations, she's pretty used to all the attention. Now that she's married to a demi-god -a legend in his own right because of everything concerning his background- and is having his baby; it seemed every pair of eyes in the village will be on her for awhile.
Sasuke wont let himself be seen unless necessary. Though he could careless for people looking at him, he'd rather stay out of the limelight. Especially in a time like this where the attention to the Uchiha family were at an all time high now that they know Sakura's pregnant. And far along at that.
Sakura is carrying the first heir to Uchiha clan after the massacre so, naturally, everyone wanted to be apart of or a witness to the unborn. Sakura has a feeling that their baby is famous among the village before he or she is even born yet.
The pinkette was proved right when everyone would come up to her and gush over her belly and asked tons of questions and even gave her some parenting advice.
At this point, the Uchiha queen was both tired of walking (her feet were starting to swell) and talking. She wanted to rest somewhere for awhile and Ino chose her favorite Dango restaurant. As they lower themselves into a booth Sakura sighs in content and also exhaustion.
To her, this is the hardest about her third trimester; she's easily tired, easily irritable and is always craving something with tomatoes in it. Right now a plain ripe tomato sounded mouth watering to eat.
Her littlest Uchiha gifted her with a few rapid kicks in anticipation of where her mom's thoughts were going.
Guess Sasuke's to blame for that. It's not a surprise their baby inherited his love for anything tomatoes. She wouldnt be surprised if they came out as red as a tomato.
"I'm sorry, Ino. With all the attention, it interfered with your shopping." I mean, she's pregnant too and they barely spared her a glance. Sakura cringed.
Ino rolls her eyes, "Oh forehead stop. It's been decades since an Uchiha was born and the village's most respected lady is carrying it. Bare with them, it's an exciting time and they're happy and aodre you." The blonde reached across the table and put her soft reassuring hand on Sakura's. "It was the same with Hinata so don't feel bad." Her sky blue eyes sparkled and her painted lips pulled into a soft smile, "I'm excited as well. Afterall I'm going to be an Auntie! " her body shook with giggles.
Ino was so genuine and humble that it warmed Sakura's heart. She matured so much since they were Genin and they've become such good friends that now Sakura wouldnt know what to do without her. Those letters comforted her but never in a way that it did with hanging out with Ino in person.
Sakura sniffed and squeezed her hands, her voice breaking a bit as she said, "I really really missed you..pig."
Ino let out a soft laugh and her face seemed to practically glow, whether it was pregnancy glow or happiness Sakura wasnt sure, "I missed you too, forehead."
His chakra alerted her to his presence before the soft brushing of his fingers across her forehead, moving her hair away from her face.
She stirred and stretched her body from being in a curled position for a long time, hearing a few of her bones satisfyingly pop as she did so. Rubbing away the slight slobber from her mouth with the back of her hand, she turned towards her husband who was gazing at her with soft eyes and a tender expression. Smiling, she beckons Sasuke closer with her finger.
She hasn't seen him since this morning and could only wonder what he's been up to. Sasuke's face nears her with curiosity, "Hm?"
His wife grabs the back of his neck and places a fat searing kiss on his lips. Before he could deepen them, she pulls away, her emerald eyes clouded with affection with a hint of lust. "I'm still sore from this morning." Not to say she didnt want to, if anything, she wanted to everytime she saw him. But after he literally rocked her world this morning and pounded her to heaven, 'twice' it's best to not push her luck so soon.
"Hn." Says Sasuke and he stands. Sakura follows suit, taking her time because of the large belly she was sporting.
"Besides, I was thinking we could go and visit my parents before it's too late." The clock on her bedside said it was around seven in the evening.
"Word about my pregnancy is traveling fast and I dont want for them to have to hear it from the villagers before their own daughter. That and they'd be upset if they realized I was here all day and did come and see them. I would have sooner but I wanted to wait for you incase you wanted to come."
No doubt Sasuke would come. He comes from a rather fixed clan certain customs are geared into him and meeting with in laws are always important.
"Very well," He agrees with a single nod.
Sakura then takes the time to phone her mother. After a minute or two she hangs up and says to her husband, "Momma says she just finished making dinner so we can come right over," she grins and bounces on her toes.
She was excited to see her mom, it didnt hit her how much she missed her until she hadn't been able to see her. They often wrote letters to each other but, like Ino, it wasnt the same. She kept alot of details out including her pregnancy. She wanted to surprise her one day by sending her a picture of her grandchild but she was here now so she could tell her in person.
Sasuke only knocked on the door once before it swung open and her mother, Mebuki, greeted with her with sparkly green eyes much like her own and a wide smile at seeing her daughter home.
"Sakura, Sasuke, Welcome home!" She placed a loving kiss on Sasuke's forehead and Sakura felt Sasuke tense beneath her fingers that was clutching his shirt before he relaxed. Mebuki tried to move around Sasuke to hug her daughter (seeing as Sakura was hiding behind him) when Sakura cowered more behind Sasuke.
"Sakura!" Mebuki scolds with her hands on her hips. "Is that a cloak you're wearing? It's so warm out, arent you hot?." At the slight concern in her mothers voice, Sakura decided to end her mama's torture.
"Hi, mama." Sakura sweatdrops and steps away to stand beside Sasuke. "I actually have a surprise for you."
Her father conveniently decides to come to the door, "who is it honey? Ah, Sakura, Sasuke! You're home, welcome." Now it was her dad's turn to give his daughter a kiss on the forehead and a pat on Sasuke's shoulder.
"Sakura has something to tell us," Mebuki informs her husband, wanting to get matters along so she can find out what it was.
Kizashi then turns to his daughter with instant concern, "Sakura?"
"I'm fine, papa," she calms his worries and smiles gently. "I originally had another way of telling you this news but since we're here..." Sakura takes off her cloak and places her hands on her protruding belly. "I'm pregnant!" She smiles just as her mother gasps with glee and her father...faints.
"Papa.." Sakura whines with disdain as she fanned her unconscious father on the couch. "Why did you have to go and faint on me," she sighs. Though she knew the reason why; his blood pressure levels often dropped pretty low under distress and or surprising news that causes too much emotional turmoil for his fragile heart to handle.
Sakura's mother busied herself with fixing their plates and making her some 'special Haruno tea' that's good for pregnant women. She doesn't want to know how long her mother has been waiting to brew this up for her.
Sasuke sat beside her on a pillow at the living room table after her mother sternly shooed him away after trying to assist her.
With her father not seeming to get up anytime soon, the pinkette joined her husband and instead used the fan to now fan herself.
The clink of a tea plate with a tea cup placed infront of her made her eyes open to peer at the suspicious liquid before her.
Not that Sasuke meant any disrespect to his mother in law but he eyed the tea too, less wary than his wife was openly doing. He wasn't about to let her drink anything without knowing the contents in it. Fortunately for him, Sakura questioned her mother when she sat their plates of food infront of them and before she could potentially scurry off again, she said, "Mama...what's in this exactly?"
The aroma wasn't bad in anyway, in fact, it was kind of pleasant and mouth watering; but it was also making her queasy.
Certain teas that were usually good arent very beneficial or could even be kind of bad for pregnant women so she wanted to make sure-
"They're all herbal teas. Safe for the baby." Her mom smiles softly and gazes lovingly at her daughter's belly. "But there is one ingredient that makes this tea special and isnt very easy to get ahold of. It's rare, not commonly known to do."
Both Sasuke and Sakura raise their eyebrows at this which prompts Mebuki to continue, "It's Cherry Blossom nectar."
Sasuke frowns the tiniest bit and blinks as his wife's eyes widen with surprise. As his mother-in-law explains to her daughter of how she obtained her knowledge of getting ahold of Cherry Blossom nectar, he was vaguely reminded of the village that had held the Sakura festival. He hadn't paid much attention to it at the time but he distinctly remembered hearing the citizens of that village talk about it and its benefits.
That being said, he put a pause to the womens conversation by picking up the tea intended for his wife and child and taking a few sips before setting it back infront of her. Sakura gazed at him curiously, her emerald eyes drifting between him, her tea cup, and the soft, knowing gaze her mother was giving her husband.
"Sasuke?" In all honesty, she didnt want to sound rude in asking him why he just drank a good quarter of her tea that was supposedly meant for pregnant women. She strangely felt out of the loop of something here.
Sakura felt a soft tap on her forehead and her eyes refocused on the man she loved staring at her with reassuring and loving eyes.
She could cry. Really. With her hormones, tears were pooling in her water ducts.
Sasuke's fingers traced down the side of her face to fully cup her cheek with his only human hand. "It's tradition. Drink it, it's good for the both of you."
Mebuki's hands were on her face as her cheeks were a bit flushed seeing the affection between her son and daughter. It was rare that they ever did showed it in the company of others so having the opportunity to see it was like meeting your favorite famous person.
Of course the moment was ruined when her husband decided to come back to the living.
Sakura's father jolted up to a sitting position on the couch and with a quick look around his eyes landed on his daughter, "Sakura!" His hand covered his forehead as if that'll keep him from feeling to faint. "I had a dream...you said you were pregnant..and" his eyes landed on his daughter's belly and he paled.
It must be every father's nightmare to be forced to fully acknowledge that his daughter has a sex life now.
"Papa," Sakura says softly. "We won't be here long and we'd like to keep you in the loop. So please come sit and eat with us before the food gets cold."
"NOW." Mebuki says with a deceiving smile on her face.
Kizashi scrambles to sit next to his wife and she then begins to lecture him on taking his medications and not taking proper care of himself like she's been telling him to. He apologizes profusely and during their banter Sasuke and Sakura exchange content looks before both of their eyes drifted to her belly.
'You'll really have the best loving family, littlest Uchiha. And I can't wait for you to meet them.'
