Words cannot express how deeply sorry I am for making ya'll wait for so long. Two years can change a lot...but so has my writing skills. So, the good news is, I'm still going to continue working on this story, and I'm not going to leave it to collect digital dust. More on the good news, is that from now on whenever I work on this story, its going to be either two or three chapters depending on the situation. However, for the bad news...its going to be awhile, so please try and bear with me, okay. It's hard enough that I gotta work on so many stories that its hard to keep track on each one, and its not funny.
Nevertheless, thank you all for waiting and with your kind support, I'll keep getting better and better.
Now then, I don't own any of the characters from DuckTales, those go to the creators who made them. I only own my single OC in this story.
Enjoy!
Three Ducks and a Kid of the Condor
Two days had passed since they returned from Ronguay and everything was back to normal. Tyler returned back to his daily three chores, which luckily for him Scrooge decided to let him do just one instead of doing multiple chores just to finish one, he was after all still a child. However, during those last two days, Scrooge was lost in thought...and it was concerning that human. He couldn't deny that he was unusual in appearance, but at the same time...very special.
He not only saved his nephews twice in a row, but he also saved his life from falling off a cliff which in turn he saved the boy's life from nearly drowning in the ocean. Now that he managed to pay-off that debt in return, he wondered what he should do with the boy now that he's not only won the bet against Flintheart, but he also kept his greedy hands away from him. There was just no telling what he would do to the boy if he ever got his hands on him again.
However, thinking back on the boy, he saw so many things that this boy could do. From what he learned from both his nephews and just by watching him, Tyler was both smart and clever, brave, caring, a little mischievous if provoked, high-spirited, has a bit of a spunky side, and heard the boys say to Tyler if he ever wanted to go an adventure like this again, which he immediately said yes, so he could also add that he had an adventurous nature. But looking back, ever since Tyler picked him up and looked him in the eye...he could've swore that he saw a younger version of himself through those eyes.
Getting himself out of that thought, he wondered more about Tyler starting with that bag of his. When he was out doing one of his chores that Scrooge sent him to do, he asked Tyler if he could borrow it. Tyler didn't know why at first when he asked him why, Scrooge says to him that if he wanted to trust him more, he wanted to see if there was anything special in that bag of his. Tyler shrugs and tells him there wasn't anything special, but he could look at it as long as he's careful with it.
Immediately, Tyler was right about his bag...there really wasn't anything special. Even though it looked a little...alien, inside it was just nothing more than essentials. There was an extra pair of clothes consisting of a light blue shirt and dark blue jeans and socks, a packet of bubble gum, a sports bottle, the jar that he used against The Beagle Boys which was now filled with money, slingshot, and a portfolio with some pencils. He wondered why Tyler would have such a thing? He got his answer when he opened it and was immediately impressed at such drawings. Some of them looked to be like animals with armor and weapons and looked almost similar to that of his world except some of them were lions, tigers, or bears, others looked like humans who wore superhero clothes and others with pointy ears and other unusual forms, but what also drew his attention were these locations. There were jungles that looked exactly like India, pyramids that were from Egypt, and Aztec temples that came from South America.
He didn't know how this boy would know such places, but he wondered about something...Has he been there before? It couldn't be possible, but judging how these drawings were, it felt like he wanted to go there.
After piecing together some of his thoughts, he figured that this boy wanted to be adventurous and packed all the necessary essentials for traveling. Not to mention he brought those weird objects, from what he learned from his nephews they were called a taser and a can of pepper spray. He didn't know why he would bring those, but he remembered how he used that so-called taser against Flintheart, he never imagined that something so small could actually pack quite a shock towards his own enemy.
However, there was that one question...Where did he come from? From what Tyler told him weeks ago was that all that he remembered was there was light and electricity, he still couldn't figure out how that happened...but maybe there was a certain someone who can.
So with that, he called Duckworth and told him that he needs to take Tyler to Gyro. Maybe he might know the answer while waiting for both the applicants who will take the job of being a nanny to his nephews and his coin expert who might know something about the golden coins. The one that he possesses and the other that was given to him by Tyler while trying to pay-off his debt.
Duckworth was driving with Scrooge and Tyler sitting in the back. Tyler was watching through the window while he asked Scrooge, "Where are we going?"
"You'll see," he answered.
The ride took them almost a minute when Duckworth stopped the car. When they got out of the car, Tyler was looking at a brown house that had a satellite on top. He wondered why he was brought out here, but decided to play along and find out for himself when Scrooge led him to the front door.
Scrooge knocks a couple of times, no answer. He knocked again until a voice said, "The door's unlocked, you can come in!"
Scrooge opens the door and Tyler steps inside first. He gazes at some of the marvelous contraptions that were on some work desks, while others were tools and pieces of junk that haven't been used yet. His eyes lay upon someone, he looked tall, but he couldn't tell what species he was, because his head was inside a hole from a machine he was building while he could hear the sound of gears being turned from the inside. But he could definitely tell that he wore a purple long-sleeved shirt with a gold button, black vest, blue pants, and brown shoes.
"Gyro," Scrooge says to the one named Gyro. He didn't hear him as he yelled, "Gyro!"
THUNK! "Ooo!" A voice groaned after hitting his head from inside the machine. He pulls his head out while rubbing his forehead.
Tyler sees it was a chicken who was holding onto a wrench. His hair was red while on top of his head he had a yellow hat with a black stripe while it also had a strap that was wrapped around underneath his beak, on top of his beak he had spectacles on his eyes.
"Uh, yes, Mr. McDuck," Gyro says. "Is there something that you…"
When Gyro opened his eyes...they widened while his beak dropped in shock and the wrench he was holding fell to the floor with a thunk. He blinked his eyes twice, then closed them while nodding his head, trying to see right. But when he opens them again...he still sees Tyler.
"Gyro, I want you to meet, Tyler," Scrooge introduced the boy. He looks at Tyler then introduces Gyro, "Tyler, this is another one of my employee's and personal inventor, Gyro Gearloose."
Tyler goes to Gyro while bringing his hand out in a greetful manner while saying, "Pleasure to meet ya."
"Wha-you…" Gyro says flabbergasted as he heard Tyler speak to him in english. "You can talk?"
"Uh...yeah?" Tyler says with a confused look.
A big smile came from Gyro's beak as he grabs Tyler's hand with both of his hands and shakes it excitedly while saying, "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you! And such an intelligent young creature you-" He stops suddenly then looks at Tyler's hand and says with wide eyes, "You have five fingers!"
"Uh...yeah? Of course I do?" Tyler says with an odd look.
Gyro lifts Tyler's hand and places his own next to his, comparing them both. "Amazing, a creature with five fingers and has intellect." He looked at Scrooge and asked. "What is he and where did you find him?"
"Well, to answer that, Tyler's human and I found him at my bin two weeks ago."
"A human?" Gyro had an odd look while scratching the side of his head. "I've never heard of such a thing. But where did he come from?"
"That's the part, I don't know. However...I have a funny feeling that you have something to do about it."
"Me?" Gyro grew confused. "Why would you think that?"
"Because I know that you make a lot of cacamany inventions and I have a feeling that somehow one of your inventions made light and electricity which made Tyler appear."
Gyro gave a look of familiarity as he said, "Wait, light...and electricity?" He then looked at Tyler and asked, "Tyler, could you describe what the electricity looked like?"
"Umm…" Tyler closed his eyes and thought hard...then he spoke, "It was white and blue at the same time."
"Was there a spiral the moment you got sucked in?"
"Yeah!" Tyler exclaimed while opening his eyes. "That's exactly what it was! It tossed me around here and there while I was in it!" His face then changed into a confused look. "Wait, how come you know something about that?"
Gyro's beak dropped as a gasp came. "I don't believe it...It couldn't be."
"Well what?" Tyler and Scrooge said in unison as they looked at one another.
"I think you two need to see this." Gyro heads out back, leaving Tyler and Scrooge as they look at one another again. Tyler shrugs his shoulders as he and Scrooge follow him out back.
When they were outside at the back of the house, they saw a bunch of other useless junk. Catching up to Gyro, he says to them, "I think I may have found your answer to how he got here." Standing aside, he shows them some kind of machine...but it looks destroyed. It looked like it was supposed to be circular, but now it was U-shaped. Judging by how it looked, it seemed that it blew up into pieces, leaving nothing but charred pieces of metal.
"What's this piece of junk?" Scrooge asked.
"This, Mr. McDuck," Gyro began explaining, "is a machine that could be used for energy purposes to allow light-speed travel. Making it useful to go anywhere-"
"The short version if you please," Scrooge interrupted as he didn't have time to hear this long explanation from him.
"It's a teleporter, which is used to travel from one place to another."
"Wait, wait, hold on a second," Tyler says as he points at the destroyed machine. "Are you saying that...thing, is what brought me here?"
"Well...yes."
Tyler and Scrooge had shocked looks as they looked at one another. "But still…" Gyro continued as Tyler and Scrooge looked at him. "It's hard to believe that the energy flux must've escaped in the form of lightning. But I thought it would just fade...I guess I was wrong."
"What are you saying?" Scrooge asked.
"Well, it all started off with an idea," Gyro explained. "I wanted to make something that required fast travel. So I thought, 'Hmm, how about I use energy as the main capacity.' So I created this," He motioned his hand towards the destroyed machine. "The machine is used to harness both positive and negative energy flux from electricity."
"So, uh...where did you get the energy?" Tyler asked.
"From power generators, those things carry a lot of energy." Gyro rubbed the back of his head while chuckling slightly. "But unfortunately I had to scrap those since that too was destroyed in the process."
"So...what happened after that?" Scrooge says.
"Well, it started off about two weeks ago before Tyler appeared…"
Two Weeks Earlier…
I just managed to make the machine, and I'll I had to do was make a few of the adjustments.
Gyro was plugging in the last of the cords, making them shock slightly. The teleporter was connected to four generators, each of them filled with positive and negative energy, and connected to it was a long cable that held the switch that Gyro made. After that, he goes over to the switch while putting on a pair of goggles. Then...he throws the switch.
The teleporter came to life as lights came on around it. "Eureka!" he exclaimed. "It's working!"
At first I thought it was working…
Inside the teleporter a spiral came as blue and white electricity surrounded it...then the machine began to shake.
But then, something went...really wrong. Something that I completely miscalculated on the machine itself.
The spiral started to hit the sides of the teleporter, changing Gyro's look from happiness to surprise. Then...the generators started to shake…
Then blew up as sparks shot out.
The spiral continued to hit the side of the machine, going faster and faster until…
It shot upwards towards the sky, destroying the teleporter completely as it became a U-shaped mess and Gyro looked up as it disappeared up at the twilight sky in a flash of light and electricity. No one in Duckburg even noticed that shooting spiral of blue and white electricity.
Gyro grew irritated as his best invention failed him. "Gosh, darn it all!" He takes off his goggles and throws it on the ground. He sighs and nods, then says, "Well, back to the drawing board."
As he went back inside his house, he didn't realize that machine would not only change his life...but the life of one famous man, forever.
Present Day…
"I've overheard from the radio that a mysterious creature was here in Duckburg. At first I thought it was nonsense, but on the other hand if it was an alien they were talking about, then this would be a big opportunity to see this myself." Gyro sighs as he places a finger under his beak. "Still, if it's possible, then Tyler must be an alien compared to us and he could be from another world. Better yet...he could be from another galaxy for all we know."
Scrooge and Tyler looked at one another. Their thoughts about each other were different from one another. For Tyler, if it's true, then maybe he could be on an alien planet populated by these creatures. However, there were some...unusual similarities to this world with his. He still couldn't figure it out, but one way or another...this was a perfect opportunity for him to explore this world and find out for himself. Now for Scrooge, he still wasn't quite sure what to make of him, his own thoughts from what he found out from those drawings of Tyler's plagued him. But on the other hand, if it's true from what Gyro said...then this could change everything.
However...both of them had the same thought about one thing. "Is there a way you-"
They both stopped speaking in unison as they looked at one another. Scrooge motions his hand to Tyler while saying to him, "Why don't you tell Gyro."
Tyler nods his head and says to Gyro, "Is there a way you can fix the machine?"
"I'm afraid not," Gyro answered while nodding. "The machine is completely destroyed, it'll be impossible to fix."
Tyler sighed sadly as his head lowered, he felt like he'll never get back home…
But then Gyro says, "But there is some good news," Tyler looks at him as he continued, "I can create a new teleporter and replicate the same energy flux that brought you here." Gyro cringes as he rubs the back of his head. "But to add more of the bad news is that it's going to take some time to plan and build."
"Aw man," Tyler says softly while sighing. "How long is that going to take?"
"Days, weeks, months, maybe years." Gyro shrugs his shoulders. "Who knows."
Scrooge sighed as he thought, Oh dear, poor lad. It's bad enough that cacamany inventor has made that blasted machine which brought him here, but to be stuck in our world for months and years, this'll be hard for the lad.
Indeed it is true, Scrooge knew that this'll be hard for him since he's the only human in his world. He wasn't sure if anyone would open up to him, but he also feared that wolves like Glomgold would take advantage of this otherworldly creature to use as profit, and that right there started to worry him. He wasn't some piece of gold to be plucked out and sold for profit, he was just a kid for heaven's sake. With a determined look, he says to Gyro, "Well, I suggest you get started immediately. I want that machine built."
"Yes, but there's a teensy-tiny little problem," he simplified by bringing his finger and thumb close together, almost touching. Then, he simplified through each finger while explaining, "I have to make a lot of calculations, draw the blueprints, find the components I need, plus I have a lot of projects I have to do before getting to the teleporter."
"Fine," Scrooge sighed. "You do what you have to do, but make sure that machine is your top priority. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Mr. McDuck, I understand."
"Good." Scrooge takes out his pocket watch and looks at the time. "Well, I must be off." While putting his pocket watch back in his pocket, Tyler follows him with Scrooge turning around facing him and saying, "Not you Tyler, you stay here."
"But why?" Tyler asked with confusion. "Why can't I come with you?"
"Well for starters, I have an important meeting with my coin expert and I've got to hire a governess for me nephews which they should be here pretty soon. And the last thing I need is someone like you to accidentally scare them away with that form of yours."
"Ooo, good point," Tyer cringed. It was a hard reminder of what happened last time with that Spanish sales clerk when he got scared at Tyler. The last thing he needed was another one who got scared of him because he wasn't like them.
Right before Scrooge left, he stopped himself while saying, "Oh yes! I almost forgot." He motions his hand to Gyro while saying to him, "Come here, Gyro, there's something I need to tell you first." Gyro goes to him as he bends down and Scrooge whispers to him, "I need you to keep a close eye on him and learn everything from him. Speak to him if you must, but keep him preoccupied while I'm gone. When you're done with him, call me and tell me what you know. Got it?"
"Of course, Mr. McDuck." Gyro assured him as he knew what he had to do...Then he asked with a questionable look, "But what am I supposed to do with him?"
With a sigh and a nod, Scrooge answered, "Use your imagination." He looks back at Tyler while saying to him as he opens the door, "Behave yourself while I'm gone, I'll be back later for you."
With that, Scrooge left as Tyler rolled his eyes while nodding as he thought, What is he, my dad or something? When the thought of his father crossed his mind, he sighed while having a slight downcasted look.
As Tyler and Gyro were left alone, they looked at each other without saying a word...until Tyler broke that silence as he says, "So, uh...whatcha wanna do?"
"Well-I-uh…" Gyro was trying to figure out what to do with him...until an idea came as Scrooge instructed him to learn what he should know about Tyler. He goes to a chair, carries it, and places it while saying to Tyler, "Why don't you sit down and make yourself comfortable."
With a shrug, Tyler goes to the chair and sits down. He watches Gyro as he slowly circles him with an intrigued look on his face. "Hmm, I can't deny that you are an interesting creature. Still…" He goes over to one of his tables and pulls open a drawer, digging through until he pulls out a flashlight. "Maybe upon further examination I could get a closer look." He looks back at Tyler. "Um, would you mind taking off your coat if you please?"
With another shrug, Tyler takes his coat off. However, he had a feeling that Gyro might be interested in any part of his clothes. So with that, he offers his coat to him.
Getting the gist of the offering, Gyro nods while saying, "There's no need for that. However…" He looks at Tyler's clothes down and up. "I will admit that your clothes look a bit similar to the clothes we have here in our world."
As he goes to the boy, Tyler hangs his coat behind his chair. Gyro bends down as he turns on the flashlight and brings it close to Tyler's eye, making him flinch as he turns his head away. "Now don't be scared," Gyro assured him. "It's just a flashlight."
"It's not that, it's just that it's too close to my eye."
"Oh, I'm sorry." Gyro moves the flashlight back a bit, seeing the reaction of when the light becomes too bright for the eyes to see. Something that was a bit similar to how someone would react when a light is brought close to the eye. "Is that better?"
"Yeah," Tyler nodded, then he asked, "But what are you trying to do?"
"I wanna get a closer look at your eyes."
As the flashlight was shining on Tyler's eye, Gyro squinted as he noticed the pupil dilated. Humming with thought, he shines his light on the other eye, and again, he gets the same thing on the other eye. "Interesting," he says with amusement. "The pupils dilate whenever the light becomes a bit bright." He shuts off the flashlight as Tyler's pupil's return to normal. With another hum, he mutters, "It almost looks similar to how it happens to us."
He wasn't sure if that was a possibility or not, but he wanted to know more. So he asked, "Can you see me only through sound?"
Tyler grew an odd look and answered, "No."
"Can you see me as a heat signature?"
This made Tyler's odd look grow. "No."
Seeing that it was starting to become a bit odd to him, he tried a different tactic. "Can your kind become blind or better yet can they become colorblind?"
His odd look faded. "Well, yeah, that does happen sometimes. But I can see just fine if you're wondering about my eyes."
"I see," Gyro nodded. He brings his flashlight close to Tyler's mouth while saying, "Open wide and say 'Aah'."
"Aah," Tyler opened his mouth as Gyro turned the flashlight back on. Immediately, he was marveled at what he was seeing inside the boy's mouth. "Interesting, you possess a ukula and a tongue, much similar to what we have." He moves the upper lip slightly from Tyler's mouth. "Not to mention you possess teeth, right here at the top…" He then moves the bottom lip. "...and at the bottom. It looks almost similar to that of a canine."
Shutting off the flashlight, he brought Tyler's arm up while rubbing it slightly, feeling his arm hairs. "This is really interesting. You even have follicles of hair on your arm and quite possibly the other arm as well." He started feeling Tyler's dirty blonde hair. "I already know that you have a patch of fur on top of your noggin." He took a small strand of Tyler's hair and plucked a single hair with a ping, making him cry "Ow!" and Gyro saying, "Ah, good, you feel pain."
As Tyler was massaging his noggin and Gyro tossing away that single strand, he said to him with an odd look, "What's so good about that?"
"Well, you are new here, and I have to find out if your kind feels pain or not."
Tyler thought about this for a second and nods, "Yeah, I guess you have a point on that."
"Alright, lift your shirt up."
Tyler obediently does so as Gyro starts to examine his chest and stomach. He hums while placing his hand under his beak and says, "I don't see any follicles of hair on your chest or stomach…" He notices Tyler's belly button as he places a finger and starts wiggling it while saying, "But I do see a belly button."
Tyler giggles while quickly pulling down his shirt and saying to him while a few giggles escaped his mouth, "Cut it out, that tickles!"
"Ah, that's also good, which means your nerves can feel other things besides pain." He stood up while crossing his arms. "But that leaves me with a single question...What planet are you from?"
"Planet Earth."
The moment when Tyler said those words, he wanted to hear it again as he said to him with an odd look, "Wait, say that again."
"Planet Earth...why?"
With a shocked look...he said, "But that's impossible."
"Why?" Tyler had an odd look. "What's wrong?"
"The planet you're on...is planet Earth."
"But that can't be! How is that-" He stopped himself when he remembered something...and with a gasp, he groaned as he placed his head on his hands while saying, "Oh, how can I be so stupid!"
Tyler seemed to figure it out as the answer was right there in front of him. In fact, he remembered the globe that Dewey was on, and he remembered Louie saying South America as they were heading to Ronguay two weeks ago. That right there brought the answer as Tyler was too focused on paying off his debt to Scrooge…
This was planet Earth. However…
"Wait a second. If this is planet Earth and the other place I come from is also called planet Earth, then that would mean…"
Tyler looked up at Gyro with another gasp as he too also gasped when he managed to put two and two together.
"I'm in/Your from a different dimension!" They said in unison.
Tyler brought both hands on his head while leaning his back on the chair. It was hard for him to believe in such a possibility of crossing to different worlds, much less dimensional worlds. Such things like that only existed through science-fiction books and movies, but this...this right here the world that he was in, was in fact real. "Oh man," he said softly. "This is deep."
Gyro was also finding it hard to be believed as he had a single hand behind his head and was pacing. The thought of something concerning different dimensional worlds would've been ludicrous. But here was the proof, Tyler came from a different dimension called Earth, and his must've been either different or the same. "To think that the energy flux from my machine, actually cut through to a different reality which is where you're from. But that also means…" He looks at Tyler. "Something like this could change everything. I mean, think of what we could learn from one another from two different worlds and two different dimensions." He bends back down. "Before I ask you anything. Tell me...how did this happen?"
"I don't know," Tyler shrugged. "It just happened right out of the blue."
Gyro nodded as he understood. It was probably to assume that the energy flux must've somehow randomly happened somewhere. But the question was, how did it get to Tyler? Wanting to know more, he said, "Well, why don't you tell me everything, starting off with how the energy flux got you. Then maybe...we should get to know one another."
Meanwhile back at the McDuck mansion, applicants for the job of nanny were gathered inside as they were waiting their turn to see if they could take care of the triplets. However, they were in for a surprise when the triplets began pulling pranks on them, driving away nearly half of the applicants. Another applicant runs away with a lobster stuck on her rear, courtesy of the triplets as she runs away yelping.
This didn't go unnoticed in Scrooge's office as two individuals watched the applicant run away. This second individual was a male dog as he was middle-aged, his hair, beard, and eyebrows were grey as he had a green eyeshade hat on top of his head, glasses were hung over his eyes, and he wore a dark-blue suit coat with two black buttons, red vest with two gold buttons, white gloves were on his hands, light-blue pants with thin black lines, and brown shoes with grey soles at the bottom. Growing a little bit concerned, he asked Scrooge, "U-U-Uh, shouldn't we barricade the door, Mr. McDuck?"
Scrooge giggled while waving him off and answering, "No, my nephews are just choosing a governess," He winks at him while continuing, "The tykes are not very keen on the idea."
"Oh, e-eh, I see."
"Well, Mr. Changemaker as a coin expert," He lifts up the glass of an already opened case that was on his desk, revealing a collection of old coins. "What do you think of my collection?"
Mr. Changemaker takes out a coin while saying with an intrigued voice, "Most impressive, Mr. McDuck!" He looks at the coin. "One soldem season czeslovian seven cent piece."
Scrooge walks over to Mr. Changemaker and takes back his coin while saying, "But that's not why I asked ya here. In fact, there are two things that I need to show ya."
Putting his coin back inside the case, he then opens a drawer and pulls out Tyler's jar that had his cash. However, back then he wanted to know what was in that jar besides being his money, and immediately after becoming curious and opening that jar...He was surprised. He wanted to know more about this, that was the first reason he called Mr. Changemaker here to see what he could find out about Tyler's otherworldly money.
Mr. Changemaker grew an odd look when he saw that jar, and watched Scrooge as he unscrewed the lid and dug out some coins, then placed them on his desk while he said to him, "Can you tell me what you think about these coins? So far, I already know a little bit about them."
Mr. Changemaker took the small pile of coins, looking at them closely, he can already tell about something as he says, "Well, the metal on these coins looks similar to that of bronze, silver, and gold."
"Aye, I already know about that."
He then picks up a big fat coin, but notices the odd face within the coin. In fact...they were on all the coins that he had in his hand. He had never seen faces that looked like that at all. "This is very strange, I've never seen faces that looked like this."
"Those faces that you see…" Mr. Changemaker looked at Scrooge. "They're called humans."
"Humans?" Mr. Changemaker had an odd look. "I never heard of such a thing."
"I know what you mean." Scrooge agreed as he too never heard of such a thing, not since two weeks ago when Tyler told him what he was. Still, it was hard to believe this.
Mr. Changemaker noticed numbers on the bottom of each coin. Each of them were different from one another. "Odd," he cocks an eyebrow. "What's with these numbers?"
"They're not just numbers...there years."
"Years!" Mr. Changemaker had a shocked expression. "Are you even sure they're years?"
"Aye, I'm positive. In fact, I did a little research before I called ya here and discovered a link," He drew a single line on thin air to simplify. "Between the histories in our world with the years that you see on those coins. The years on them match, but there are no humans in any of them, which also means that wherever Tyler came from, the history in his world could be almost identical to the one we have here."
"Um, Tyler you say? You mean the creature I heard on the radio that's here in Duckburg?"
"Aye, that's him, but that leaves me the question about those coins...What's the value in them?"
"Well, uh…" He places his hand under his chin while looking at the coins. "To be honest, I'm not quite sure. For all I know, they could either be unvalued or priceless." He places the small pile of coins back on Scrooge's desk. "So, I'm sorry I'm not much of help, but this is way beyond me."
"I understand," Scrooge nodded, then he thought, I had a feeling he would probably say that.
He wasn't sure about Tyler's coins if they truly were unvalued or priceless, but maybe he could find a way to make them useful. However, he had to put that on the back of his mind for the time being. So with that, he took the small pile of coins and put them back inside the jar, sealing it tight, and putting it back inside his desk drawer. "Now, there's the second thing I need to show ya, and maybe you could help with this." He digs in his pocket and pulls out the coin that had a sun symbol with a smiling face on it, leaving the other coin that was Tyler's in his pocket. "Have ya ever seen anything like this before?"
Mr. Changemaker once again had a shocked expression and quickly snatched the coin. He pulled out a small scope to get an even closer look, then said, "No, it can't be!" Putting the small scope back in his pocket, he grabs Scrooge's suit and tells him, "It's a coin from the Treasure of the Golden Suns!"
"Impossible!" Scrooge had a serious look while he used his arm to make Mr. Changemaker let go of him as he straightened his suit. "That treasure is only a legend." He gave Mr. Changemaker a face that said "Could it be true?", then asked him, "Isn't it?"
He grabs Scrooge again and says, "It must be real." Then he points at the coin. "This is the second coin to come to light."
"Three actually," Mr. Changemaker had a confused look by what Scrooge said, then he pulled out Tyler's coin, much to his shock for the third time that Scrooge actually had not just one sun coin but two. "Tyler intended to keep this as a souvenir, but he gave it to me as a start to pay-off his debt to me, and not two days ago, I saw a whole bonnie boatload of these." He snatched back his coin while looking at the both of them. "If the legend's true…" He puts Tyler's coin deep inside his hand as it formed into a fist while he smiled. "Then that gold was only the tip of the iceberg." Putting Tyler's coin back in his pocket, he grabs Mr. Changemaker, and lifts him up slightly, much to his surprise that this elderly duck had quite a bit of strength for his age while Scrooge asked him, "Where's the other coin?"
Mr. Changemaker grunted, then answered, "It's hidden in a fortress high in the Andes mountains, and the owner hates visitors."
With a smile while placing a finger under his beak in thought, he drops Mr. Changemaker, then looks at the coin and says, "Eh, but he's never reckoned with Scrooge McDuck."
His candlestick phone rang, turning his attention to it as he put his coin back in his pocket, and picked it up while taking the receiver and answering through the mouthpiece, "Hello." While Mr. Changemaker got back up, he heard Scrooge talking by saying, "Ah, Gyro. I trust everything is going well with Tyler?" Mr. Changemaker cocked an eyebrow while Scrooge turned to him and told him, "I left him there for Gyro to look after." When Gyro explained how everything was going well with him, Scrooge smiled and said while giggling, "Well now, it seems to me you're becoming fast friends with the lad. But I also trust that you may have learned some things about him?"
As Scrooge sat down on his chair while Mr. Changemaker sat down on the stool, Scrooge nodded as Gyro told him everything that he knew so far from Tyler. However, when he got into the...other stuff that he learned from Tyler, Scrooge smiled as he rubbed underneath his beak and hummed, "Hmm...how interesting." With a slight giggle, he asked Gyro, "Well, have you also learned where he came from?" When Gyro told Scrooge what Tyler told him...his look turned to shock as he leaned his back on the chair. "So that would explain the drawings."
"Drawings?" Mr. Changemaker said along with Gyro on the phone.
"Nevermind that," Scrooge said to them both. Then he asked Gyro about the boy, "Where is the lad now?" Scrooge smiled when Gyro told him. "Ah, that's good. Tell him I'm coming over to pick him up, and another thing, when I arrive I need your help with something...You'll know when I get there." He ends the call by placing the mouthpiece back where it was, then turning to Mr. Changemaker while shaking his hand and saying to him, "Well, thank you for the help, Mr. Changemaker. Allow me to see your way out."
As the two made their way out of Scrooge's office and were on their way to the front door, Scrooge giggled slightly as Mr. Changemaker asked, "What's so funny, Mr. McDuck?"
"Oh nothing," Scrooge waved him off. "Just got some things on my mind is all." As he giggles again, he mutters, "Oh, that boy is going to be very surprised…" His beak formed a smile. "I'm going to give him an offer he cannot refuse."
Thinking back at the last thought of Tyler from when he looked at his eyes, he still could've swore that he saw a younger version of himself. But looking back at it closely...he actually did see it. In fact, he does remind him of himself, and not to mention the boy had some talents, he was like a diamond that was found off the ground, but with a little polish from his hands...that diamond could shine like no other.
Like Scrooge said, he was going to give Tyler an offer that he could never refuse as a plan had already formed in his head.
Back in another room, things were pretty hectic with the triplets. So far they managed to scare away most of the applicants...except two. Right now, the triplets were trying to scare them off with Huey using a stuffed snake, Dewey swinging a lasso like a cowboy, and Louie pelting them using a bow and suction-cup arrows. The two individuals that the triplets were trying to scare off was a plump elderly female duck who had chair held out in defense as if she was the beast tamer going at it with three lions except she didn't have a whip, and wore a purple dress with light-purple on her collar, white apron, and purple high-heeled shoes, her hair was grey while the front was rolled up and the top of her hair was knotted with two pins keeping it together, and spectacles were on her eyes. The other who was hiding behind a downed table for protection...was a little duck girl who had a pink bow tied on her head and wore a pink shirt with light-pink on her collar, sleeves, and at the bottom.
While this continued, Duckworth was laying on a chair, clearly exhausted as he was resting...but then woke up with a tired expression as Scrooge came in and said, "Don't move a feather!" The triplets stopped what they were doing as their uncle came forward and continued while crossing his arms, "Now where are all these governess' I'm supposed to choose from?"
"Right here, Mr. McDuck," the elderly female duck said as she put the chair down, "I'm Bentina Beakley."
As she made her way to Scrooge and the triplets, Scrooge placed his fists on the sides of his hips while having a look of doubt on his face and nods, "You don't look tough enough for the job."
"She's not Uncle Scrooge!" Huey protested.
"Then why am I the only applicant still here, Master Huey?"
"He's not Huey," Louie lied in order to fool Bentina while pointing at his brother, then at himself with his thumb, "I am."
Catching on with the lie, Bentina said, "Now that's a fib, Master Louie. Isn't it?"
The triplets were surprised that this elderly lady could tell who they were as the three looked at each other and Louie said, "Rats! How'd she tell us apart?"
"Well Beakley, I'm impressed," Scrooge said. "Okay, what are your credentials?"
"I'll work for nothing."
With excitement, knowing that he found the right person for the job, he shook her hands and said to her, "That's my favorite price, you're hired!"
"What!" Huey said as he and his two brothers were shocked.
Bentina wasn't quite finished as she said, "Nothing, except room and board for me…" She then brought the little duck girl in front of her. "...and my granddaughter, Webbigail."
Scrooge looks at the little duck girl, then says while placing a hand under his beak, "Well, I don't know…" As he was in thought, he was a little sceptical at first. Having his nephews here was one thing, Tyler was probably going to be the exception since he needed a place to say, not to mention be under his protection in case of wolves like Glomgold would try to get their hands on him since he was the only known creature on this planet, but to have another child in this mansion, much less a little girl, he wasn't quite sure about this.
The little duck girl, Webbigail, went towards Scrooge as he backed up slightly while she clasped her hands together and cutely asked, "Oh please, Mr. McDuck."
Seeing that look made Scrooge smile, he just couldn't say no to a face like that, and it would be wrong for not letting her stay with her grandmother. So while petting her head, he said, "Well, you don't look like you'd eat a lot." He chuckles as he added, "And I'm sure you'll get along quite nicely with Tyler."
Bentina gave an odd look as Scrooge mentioned the name Tyler. Was there another child that she was completely unaware of?
Clearing his throat, Scrooge turned his attention towards his glaring nephews and said, "And these monsters might learn a thing or two from their friend Tyler about manners with a bonnie wee lass around."
"Yauch!" Huey said as he tossed down the stuffed snake.
"Double yauch!" Louie said as he tossed down the bow.
"Yeah, like they said and there's no way Tyler's gonna be with a girl!" Dewey said last as he tossed down the lasso.
Webbigail glares at the boys and rudely sticks her tongue at them, but quickly changes back to a smile as Scrooge looks at her. "Fine, fine," he said with a shrug. "Now I can relax knowing the boys will be in good hands while I'm gone and taking Tyler with me."
"'Gone and taking Tyler with you'?" Huey said with confusion, then Dewey and Louie asked in unison, "Where ya goin', Uncle Scrooge, and why are you taking Tyler?"
He giggled as he answered his nephews, "I have my reasons."
"Excuse me, Mr. McDuck," Bentina said with a questionable look while crossing her arms. "But who's Tyler?"
With a smile, he answered her, "You'll see."
Meanwhile back at Gyro's place, the two were finishing up on the machine that Gyro was building. But before all that transpired, there were several things that they talked about while learning from one another. The first thing from when Gyro asked Tyler earlier was how all this happened before the energy flux got him and was teleported from out of his world to Gyro's world.
Tyler explained he didn't know how it happened at first, but he did explain how it all happened as he was returning home after attempting to run away from home. Gyro wondered why, but Tyler told him that his parents always worked and barely had time to be with him. Gyro asked him where his parents worked and he told him that his father works for selling electronics, and his mother was a manager at a shopping center. So most of the time, he was usually alone, but back then he had his cousin Audrey to watch over him. However...he told him the most usual thing that happened…
He told Gyro about aurora lights that somehow appeared over the city of California. At first Gyro wanted to know about this so-called "California" that Tyler spoke about, but decided to put that on hold for a moment as he wanted to know about this aurora. Tyler didn't know how it appeared, and as usual he says it happened right out of the blue. He remembered it appeared one day when an unusual flash appeared above the night sky. Everyone in California saw it themselves.
Gyro was a little suspicious about this aurora, as he had a feeling that maybe his machine may have been the cause of that. However, he did ask him if this aurora had the same colors of white and blue, but much to his shock...Tyler said no. In fact, the aurora he saw had a mixture of colors, ones he can't even describe. He even told him the strange thing about it was that it remained in the sky for literally a month now. In fact, he's not even sure it's still there since he arrived here.
However, Gyro then asked him if anything strange happened when the aurora remained. Immediately, Tyler told him that something strange did happen…
After a month when the mysterious aurora appeared, Audrey disappeared, as if she just upped and vanished. His parents and himself were both worried about Audrey's sudden disappearance, and the police were doing everything they could to find her. But then, Tyler also told him that while that month was passing, he heard a lightning strike. It sounded so loud that it almost sounded like someone used a jet engine and literally made a sonic boom.
As Gyro pondered at this, he thought that maybe his machine must've brought Audrey here as well, but after rethinking this really hard...he knew it couldn't have been possible. Even if it did, then he and probably the whole world would know about her coming...but it never happened. So the strange question remained...Where did Audrey go? He decided to put it out of his mind and think about only fixing that machine and returning Tyler back to his dimension.
Anyway, to put this matter aside, Gyro wanted to know more why Tyler ran away besides his parents barely having any time with him. Well, the obvious reason was Tyler wanted to find his missing cousin, and since his parents barely even noticed...he thought they didn't care if he was gone. However, as he was in the process of running away, he ran into a homeless man who wanted to know why someone like him was running around the streets this time of the night. They talked about it as Tyler had already explained it to Gyro earlier, and the homeless man talked some sense into him, telling him he needed to talk to his parents instead of just running away from his problems. With those wise words, he decided to return home and talk to his parents.
But then, Tyler told him that while he was on his way back home...an unusual thunder was heard. At first he thought it was going to rain, but that's when lightning struck a power pole and electricity of white and blue was shot out. He tried to run away, but he was surrounded in it as he was pulled into some kind of vortex, the rest Gyro knew when Scrooge was here.
After when Tyler's story came to an end, Gyro felt guilty for unintentionally pulling him away from his world, much less his family. So with that, he promised Tyler that he will do whatever it takes to rebuild that machine. It may not be today and may not be tomorrow, but one day he will fix that machine so he can return him to his family back in his world.
When the matter came to an end, there was still the matter of killing some time until Scrooge got back. So...Tyler wanted to know what Gyro was building. He told him it was just a little side project he was working on. With that...he asked him if he could help. Seeing there was no harm and letting the boy pitch-in, he lets him help building it. But while they were getting the parts and tools, Tyler wanted to know where he was in this world, besides being in Duckburg. Gyro tells him that right now he's in the U.S., and Duckburg is in the state of Calisota.
Tyler had a feeling that he was in the U.S. ...Well, except that this U.S. was much different than where he was from. But nevertheless, it looked almost similar, yet different at the same time. Anyway, Tyler continued to listen to Gyro as he also explained that this city has a bay called Duckburg Bay, and right across the city connected to a bridge lies St. Canard. However, Tyler had a strange thought. Could it be possible that Calisota looked like a mixture between the California he knows and the state of Minnesota? Shrugging it off, he decided he wanted to know more about this world before he can make any assumptions.
Anyway, when Gyro finished explaining, he wanted to know about this "California" where Tyler comes from in his world. Tyler told him it was a little similar but different, he also told the city was huge and the state actually had a beach. Gyro was a little surprised that Tyler's world actually has something like that, because here in Duckburg they don't have a beach, only a boat dock near Duckburg Bay.
As the questions and answers between the two kept on piling by the time the first part of the machine was done, they both began to realize something...both of their worlds were similar but different between one another. It was almost like two sides of the same coin, but much different between both the front and back of it.
After that was done, they began to ask some...personal questions. For Tyler, he wanted to know more about Gyro as he asked him why he became an inventor. He told Tyler that ever since he was a kid, he made a lot of inventions, and overtime when he got older his inventions had gotten better and better. Most of the inventions he made were sold for profit, while the other inventions like this machine they were building was only a hobby. However, Tyler also wanted to know about his history with Scrooge, which he told him that he attracted his attention several years ago and asked him if he wanted to work as an employee. Since then, Gyro has worked for Scrooge as his personal inventor, and hoped one day he might attract a bigger company that might have use for his inventions.
Tyler couldn't deny that was a great goal, but he wondered about Gyro's finances, he told him that his inventions sold him a huge ton of cash, but he uses it to finance his own inventions by building them. To do that, he needed parts...lots of them. Tyler was a little surprised that he wasn't rich like Scrooge, but he can tell that Gyro was a little...eccentric. He did say to him that he could tell that there were a lot of pieces of junk here and there in and outside the house, which he also added to no offence to him, and Gyro did tell him that no offence was taken. In fact, he did plan on cleaning up as he needed to remove some useless junk he doesn't plan on using while keeping the extra or spare parts that he might need.
Now for Gyro, he wanted to know more about Tyler as he asked him what he wants or needs in life, or better yet...his dreams. When the topic of his dreams was mentioned, he was a little hesitant as he never told anybody except his cousin about his dreams, but Gyro insisted as it wouldn't hurt to know, he wouldn't judge. However, Tyler asked him if he could promise not to tell anyone about his dreams, which of course Gyro agreed. Unfortunately, he had to go back on his word as he already crossed his fingers because he had his orders from Scrooge to learn everything about him. So with that, this is what Tyler told Gyro about his dreams…
"I want to go on an adventure and see the world, see so many new places and meet new people...and hopefully one day make a name for myself."
Gyro couldn't help but smile at such a goal and a great dream nevertheless, despite Tyler being so young.
Anyway, to return back to where those two were at finishing up with the machine, Gyro had his head inside while having his hand out as he told Tyler what tool he needed since the boy was at the toolbox. "Wrench."
Tyler pulls out the tool. "Wrench."
"Screwdriver."
Tyler pulls out another tool. "Screwdriver."
"Gear piece."
Tyler looks at the toolbox as he notices a lot of gear pieces, each of them of different size. "Which size?"
"Medium-size."
Tyler looks and pulls out the gear that Gyro asked for and places it on his hand. "Medium-size gear piece."
"Alrighty, turn to tighten the screw, then a righty-tighty, left-loosie-"
A knock was heard as it interrupted what he was doing. "The door's unlocked, you can come in!"
The door opens as Scrooge comes in, noticing the work was almost finished as he said, "Well now, I see you're almost finished with that."
"Yep," Gyro answered as he resumed what he was doing. "Just need to finish up at this last part here." There were sounds of gears being turned inside, then Gyro pulled his head out. "There we go, now while I'm testing this thing. What is it that you need help with?"
"Well for starters, I'm going to the Andes, and Tyler you're coming with me."
While Gyro started the machine as the two claws moved side by side, Tyler asked Scrooge, "Really?"
"Aye, starting today lad."
"Alright!" Tyler beamed with excitement as he was eager to go on another adventure with Scrooge.
As Gyro was controlling one of its claws to a big plastic jar filled with yellow candy balls, much to Tyler's surprise as to why Gyro needed such a thing earlier, he explained to him that he needed it for this experiment so he sent the boy to find that jar, which in turn gave him the opportunity to talk to Scrooge on the phone while the boy was distracted, Scrooge turned his attention to Gyro and says to him, "And I need you, Gyro Gearloose, to invent me an airship, something that handles well in steep mountains."
When the claw was dipped inside that plastic jar, it pulled out a single yellow candy ball as it was led back to the group. "An airship, huh?" Gyro pulls out the yellow candy ball from the claw with a pop, then tosses to Tyler as a reward for helping him build it which he caught, giving him a smile as he eats it and gives him a thumbs-up, making Gyro giggle slightly from Tyler's enthusiasm. He then picks up a helmet that had handles and a spring from off of a table as he places it on his head. "Well, let me think about that a minute." With a jump, he lands upside down and starts to bounce around in a circle as both Scrooge and Tyler watch. "The problem is landing this plane. It's gotta be able to fasten to rockface." An idea finally struck his head as he gasped and bounced right back to his feet with his arms spread, excitement was on his face he declared, "Eureka, I've got it!"
Like an excited kid, he ran to the closet while quickly taking off his helmet as Scrooge asked, "Will the ship take very long to build?"
Gyro was digging through the closet, tossing away some junk as they landed on the floor while he answered Scrooge, "Yep, it's a toughy, Mr. McDuck." He pulls out a big pair of pliers from the closet. "You'll have to wait till after lunch." He goes back to the machine he built as he starts using the pliers on a claw that was attached to it.
"Do you need my help for this?" Tyler asked.
"Uh, no that's alright," Gyro answered as he pulled out the claw and was starting to use the pliers on the other claw. "You go on ahead and head back with Mr. McDuck. I can handle this myself."
"Okay," Tyler shrugged, "but if you ever need my help, just call me."
"Alright thanks, I'll keep that in mind."
As Tyler left with Scrooge, Duckworth was driving the car back to the mansion. "Now Tyler," Scrooge says to the boy. "I want you to know that not only do I have governess, but a child is going to be staying from now on. So I want you to be extra nice with them once we arrive."
"C'mon, Mr. Scrooge, it's me remember?" As Tyler continued to look at the window, he couldn't help but say with excitement, "Still, I can't wait till we're ready to set-off for the Andes and see what happens next once we get there."
"Oh, trust me lad," Scrooge muttered while having a smile on his beak. "Before we leave there's going to be more...much more."
Tyler could've swore he heard something from Scrooge as he turned his attention to him while having an odd look on his face and said to him, "What'd you say?"
"I said once we arrive at the mansion, get your bag and pack anything useful that might come in handy, then after that go eat lunch. We have a lot of things to be prepared as there's no telling what we might go up against on this adventure."
Tyler couldn't agree more as he nodded at Scrooge.
When they came back to the mansion, Scrooge had already told Tyler where he left his bag as he went to get it. After finding it, he checked to see if anything was probably going to be needed. The only thing that was missing was his jar of money, but he decided not to go find it as it was probably going to be useless. Not to mention his slingshot wasn't going to be much help, which he had already formed a plan in mind for something to be used for self-defense. However, he had a strange feeling that he was being watched by something. Turning around, he notices someone at the doorway…Only for someone with wide eyes and a pink bow quickly hide back at the wall.
Seeing that bow, Tyler could definitely tell that was the child that Scrooge spoke about. Being the nice one he is, he smiles and says to the child who was still hiding from him, "Hey, don't be scared, I'm not gonna hurt ya." He saw the head peek out slightly as eyes were looking at him, but didn't seem to move from that spot any further. Wanting to try a different approach, probably because of his height since this child would be small and due to his unnatural appearance, he sits down on the floor and crosses his legs. "Come on out," he waved at the child to step out of the hiding spot while remaining peaceful and kind. "I don't bite, really."
The child seemed to be a little sceptical at first from Tyler's perspective, but nevertheless, the child slowly came out of the hiding spot...revealing herself to be none other than Webbigail.
When she first learned about Tyler through Scrooge, she was actually excited to have someone to play with and hoped he wouldn't be rude and mean like those three triplets. However, the three triplets told her about Tyler, saying that he was a monster with no fur or feathers, just a patch of hair on top of his noggin, and he could scare the living daylights off of little girls, including governess'. Not to mention, if he ever feels like it, he'd gobble them both up and think nothing of it.
Her grandmother didn't believe in such nonsense, and she assured her that there were no such things as monsters, and this Tyler isn't a monster. Unfortunately...she was wrong, the moment when that door opened, she saw that the triplets were telling the truth about Tyler. At first she thought about running to her grandmother and telling her that the monster that the triplets described were true and he was actually here, but her curious mind thought otherwise. So before Tyler even noticed her, she followed him while keeping watch to see if he was really that bad the way he was described. But when he was alone, he somehow seemed to sense her as if he knew she was following him.
She seemed a little scared at first, but the way he was acting was a little different for her. So with a small but quiet gulp, she had already come out of her hiding spot, then she slowly made her way towards him while being careful, as if he was some dangerous predator waiting to pounce on her when she got close. When she got to him, he brought his hand out to her, making her take a small nervous step back as Tyler said in a grateful manner, "Pleasure to meet ya."
Webbigail looks at his hand then back at Tyler, much to her confusion. "Come on, don't leave me hangin'." She slowly brings her hand to him, hoping that he really wouldn't bite her, then takes his hand as he shook it in a greetful manner. "So, what's your name?" he asked her.
Not wanting to be rude to this...whatever he is, she nervously answered, "Um, W-W-Webbigail."
"Webbigail? That's a cute name."
Webbigail blushed at that, but then tilted her head with curiosity as she stopped shaking his hand. She noticed that there was some kind of hair near the sleeve of his jacket. Taking her hand away from him, she pulled his sleeve up slightly as she saw hair that was barely noticeable. She then gently rubs her hand on his arm as Tyler watches while saying, "Curious, aren't ya?"
She never felt such hair like this at all, much less the smoothness of his hand. At least she knew that those three were wrong about him not having any hair except on top of his head, that's if they look hard enough to find it. However, looking back at Tyler, she crawls onto his lap, much to his own surprise when she was close to his face as he didn't know that she'd be this curious about him. Then, much to surprise Tyler even further...she put her hands on his face, making him blush. Webbigail giggles a little while seeing Tyler change color as she rubs his face, then feels his forehead and hair. "Wow, you're so soft, almost like that of a teddy bear."
Tyler slightly giggled and said, "Why thank you, but y'know at your age…" He then pets her head. "You look kinda cute."
Webbigail giggles again as she hugs Tyler while he hugs her back. For Tyler, it was a huge success as he made himself another friend, much less a little girl, and he wasn't lying about what he said, she really was kinda cute for her age. Not to mention, she was at the same size as Huey, Dewey, and Louie. And for Webbigail, she kinda liked Tyler despite his unusual appearance, but nevertheless, she also knew that the boys were wrong about him, he wasn't as monstrous as he appeared to be.
At the kitchen, Bentina was making grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. So far she made two, while the three triplets were sitting at the table, watching and waiting as she was making the third sandwich. As she was making it, she wondered if Tyler would like it. She hadn't really met the boy, nor did she learn about him until earlier while Scrooge went to pick him up.
However, as I already explained, she kinda hoped that Tyler wouldn't act like a monster or else things would've been hard for them. Still, while she was settling down, Bentina wondered what he would look like. So far from what she learned from those three, Tyler had a patch of hair on top of his head. So she might have a vague idea that he might have it. But nevertheless, she wanted to see him personally.
Scrooge came into the kitchen, Bentina looked at him as she already heard the door open and said to him, "Ah, Mr. McDuck, welcome back." She flips the sandwich over and adds, "But where's Tyler, isn't he here?"
"Yes, he's here, he's just getting ready. But he'll be coming here soon to eat."
"Oh, that's good," Bentina finishes the third sandwich as she places it on a plate. "I hope he likes grilled cheese? Just thought I would start something simple for him and those three other boys, along with Webbigail."
"Yes, about that, there's something I need to warn you about Tyler."
Bentina stopped what she was doing as she gave Scrooge an odd look. "Why do you need to warn me about him?"
"Well, you see, Tyler is uh…" He waved his hand in a so-so motion. "A little different."
This confused her. "What do you mean by that?"
Scrooge was having a hard time putting it into words. "Well you see, he's...well he's uh…"
"Cat got your tongue?" Bentina crossed her arms. "Spit it out."
"Well, you see, Tyler is uh-"
"Granny, look what I found!" Webbigail interrupted as she already arrived at the kitchen with the two adults talking.
"That's nice, Webby dear." Bentina answered as she didn't bother to turn around.
"No, really, look who's carrying me, it's Tyler."
Hearing that Tyler was carrying her granddaughter made Bentina clasp her hands adoringly at this while turning around and saying, "Ah, that's so wonderful, I'm so glad that your-"
However, she gasps as her beak drops and her eyes widened with pure shock when she saw Tyler, who was carrying Webby by one arm as her arms were wrapped around Tyler's neck, and had a single strap of his backpack hung on his shoulder while he reached out with his hand and greeted Bentina, "Hi there, you must be Webby's grandma, pleasure to meet ya."
Bentina's beak quivered in fright at what she was seeing before her. At first she didn't believe in such nonsense from those three boys when they spoke about Tyler, but here he was right before her...and they were telling the truth!
As she was giving shaky breathes, Scrooge assured her by saying, "Now, Mrs. Beakley, don't panic. I understand that it's a shock for you, but you need to stay calm. Just take a deep breath."
Indeed she took a deep breath...then her eyes rolled over as she fainted.
"Granny!" Webby said as she jumped off Tyler's arm and ran to her grandmother while Tyler and Scrooge did the same.
The three triplets quietly giggled while Dewey said, "We tried to warn her."
Scrooge lifts her up and says to Mrs. Beakley, "Are you alright, Mrs. Beakley?"
Mrs. Beakley groans while rubbing her head with a single hand and saying, "Oh, I think so, but I had the strangest dream. I dreamed that I saw-" She gasped as she already opened her eyes, seeing Tyler in front of her.
Tyler tilts his head slightly and says, "You okay, ma'am?"
Mrs. Beakley starts to scream, but comes short as Scrooge quickly clamps her beak shut. "Don't scream!" He makes her head turn towards his attention while that beak of hers quiet. "I know he's a bit strange, but I can assure you he's harmless. So there's no need for you to be afraid."
Mrs. Beakley glares at him while slapping his arm away from her and saying, "'Harmless'? Do you have any idea what that-that…" She points her finger at the boy. "...thing is?"
"Of course, this here is Tyler."
"Then you must understand how frighteningly dangerous that little monster is!"
Scrooge, Tyler, and Webby all had confused looks while the elder said as he crossed his arms, "'Dangerous'? Now what sort of nonsense are you talking about?"
The three triplets looked at one another, then they got off the table while Mrs. Beakley explained, "Those three boys of yours told me exactly what that thing looked like. Worst of all, if we're not careful, he'll gobble us all."
No sooner had the three boys reached the door, their uncle said in a soft tone, "Boys…" They stopped before taking another step. "Boys!" Their uncle said in a harder tone this time. They each turned around, seeing their uncle having one arm with the back of his fist at his waist, and his foot tapping the floor while giving them a look that meant that they were in trouble and signaling them to come here while motioning a single finger. Doing what they were told, they came towards their uncle while each having their arms behind their back. As Scrooge stops tapping his foot, he says to them, "Alright lads, what's the big idea placing all these thoughts about Tyler into Mrs. Beakley's head?"
"We were only trying to scare them, Uncle Scrooge," Huey explained first.
"Yeah," Dewey nods while explaining next. "So we had to borrow Tyler's form for the moment."
"Speaking of which." Louie said last as he looked over to Tyler. "Don't take this too pers-"
He was cut-off while having a surprised look as Tyler said, "Here we go!"
The two other two boys along with Mrs. Beakley and Scrooge, all turn their attention to Tyler while those two boys and Mrs. Beakley had surprised looks and Scrooge having a smile on his face at what they were all seeing…
Tyler was darting here and there while carrying Webby on his shoulders while she had her arms spread-out and yelling "Wee!" with glee. You see, while the three triplets were explaining to their uncle, Tyler had an idea to prove to Mrs. Beakley that he wasn't all that bad. So with that, he whispered something to Webby, who in turned nodded her head and the rest you now know.
While Mrs. Beakley's granddaughter was laughing and having so much fun with this creature. She was...confused. This thing that the boys described him to be was a bit true, but the way he was acting towards her granddaughter looked more like...a child. He didn't seem to act like a monster at all. However, as for the three triplets, they had unamused looks on their faces as they watched their friend playing with a girl. They crossed their arms with Huey saying, "Traitor."
Tyler stopped what he was doing as he picked up Webby from off of his shoulder while carrying her with one arm and saying to the three triplets, "Ah, come on guys, don't be like that. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to have an…" He looks at her, then pokes her belly a few times, making her giggle from that. "Extra friend or two to play with."
Mrs. Beakley stood up as everyone turned their attention to her while she said, "Alright, will somebody please explain to me what is going on here?"
"It's a long story," Tyler and Scrooge said in unison.
It took almost a while to explain to Mrs. Beakley while everyone was eating lunch. Not to mention, Tyler explains to literally not only the three triplets, but both Webby and Mrs. Beakley as well when he explained that he came from a different dimension, an alternative Earth from where he resides with Scrooge also explaining how he got here.
When Mrs. Beakley learned that Tyler was taken away from his family by Gyro's machine, her maternal instincts started to kick-in. In fact, she even started to feel a little guilty in misjudging Tyler despite his otherworldly appearance. He wasn't some bad creature that those three triplets described him to be...he was just a child, probably no bigger or younger than her granddaughter's age. Nevertheless, she promised Tyler that she'll take care of him the same as the other three boys. Which of course, the three triplets still didn't want either Mrs. Beakley or Webby to stay here, so they had to come-up with a different plan since this one backfired on them.
Anyway, with the explanation all said and done...they received a phone-call from Gyro, telling Scrooge that the plane was ready and built. Tyler was excited to see this plane that Gyro built in such a short-time, exactly how Gyro said it when he finished lunch.
When they arrived back at Gyro's place, Tyler had a very stoked look when he saw the plane…
Actually, it looked more like a helicopter from his perspective. While the fan blades were spinning, the interior outside looked more like a shape of a bird with golden coating painted on it, and he even recognized those claws used from the machine not too long ago. "Wow! What is this thing?"
"Well, since you asked. I call her the Golden Condor," Gyro spread his arms out to mimic a bird flying through the air, "'cause she'll soar through the Andes like a mountain bird."
Scrooge and Tyler enter through the Golden Condor through the already opened beak, and are immediately marveled from the inside of it. "Great Scott, look at all these gadgets."
"I'll say," Tyler agreed, "this is cool!"
Gyro steps inside while Scrooge turns around and asks him, "Who am I gonna get to fly this monstrosity?"
"Well, uh, there is one pilot stupid…" He made a single circle on the side of his head using one finger, then raised that single finger in the air as he changed his statement, "I mean, uh, capable enough to handle this new aircraft."
Scrooge nods while having downcasted look and saying, "Oh, no, not…"
Gyro knew what he was going to say as he leaned forward while placing his arms on the front seat and answering with a smile on his beak, "Launchpad McQuack."
"Uh, guys," Tyler said while placing a single arm on another seat and leaning sideways on it as they looked at him as he asked them both, "Who's Launchpad McQuack?"
Tyler got his answer when he, Gyro, and Scrooge were at an airfield, watching a red airplane descending uncontrollably towards the ground while spiraling in the air. "Gyro, Tyler, this guy's in big trouble."
"I'll say," Tyler agrees with Scrooge, "he's not gonna make it."
He couldn't agree with himself even more as the airplane did a loop-de-loop, then crashed at the ground in a plume of smoke and fire while all three of them winced from the explosion. Gyro and Scrooge took off their hats while Tyler bowed his head in a silent prayer as he would probably never get to know this Launchpad guy while the inventor said, "You know, he really wasn't a bad guy. A bad pilot, yes, but not a bad guy."
"Gyro, Tyler, look!"
Tyler looked while squinting his eyes...then those eyes widened as he gasped and said with surprise, "No way!"
Walking out of the smoke as if it never happened...was none other than Launchpad himself. He was a bulky kind of duck that had red hair with a pilots helmet and goggles on top of his head, a cream colored scarf was around his neck, rust colored pilots coat, tan baggy pants with brown belt, and brown boots. However, despite his clothes being singe here and there, but otherwise still undamaged, his scarf was burning at the tip. When he got towards the three while remaining oblivious to Tyler's form, he took his burning scarf and blew out the fire like a candle as the smoke got to both Gyro and Tyler, with the boy starting to cough as he started to wave away the smoke. Launchpad shook his scarf, then hung it back on his back while saying, "Big rubble, no trouble." He places both of his fists on the sides of his waist in a heroic fashion. "Gyro tells me you need a pilot for an experimental plane."
"What I need is my head examined."
"Don't worry, Mr. McD," Launchpad placed his hand on Scrooge's shoulder. "If it's got wings, I can crash it."
While Launchpad was chuckling slightly, Scrooge says, "I hope my medical insurance is paid up."
As they were already walking, Tyler jogs forward as he makes it in front of them, stopping them while he says, "Hey mister! How did you manage to escape a crash like that? It was amazing!"
Launchpad stares at the kid while remaining silent for a few seconds. Then, to anyone's surprise, he says, "Whoa, there's something you don't see everyday."
Scrooge got in between them and started to introduce the boy. "Launchpad, I want you to meet Tyler Johnson, he's new here." Then he introduces the boy to the pilot. "Tyler, this is-"
"Please, Mr. McD," Launchpad interrupts, "let me introduce myself to the kid." He brought his hand forward in a grateful manner. "The name's Launchpad. Launchpad McQuack, pleasure to meet you, kid."
"It's a pleasure," Tyler took his hand and shook it, much to his own surprise that Launchpad didn't seem at all frightened at his appearance. He couldn't deny that he looked a little surprised, yes, but not at all frightened. After taking his hand back, he then asked him, "By the way, how did you get away from that crash?"
Launchpad chuckles slightly while patting the kid's shoulder and telling him, "Kid, I've been through many crashes and ain't none of them I've ever come out from them."
While Launchpad continued on with his crash stories to Tyler while Duckworth was driving the passengers back Gyro's place, he couldn't help but be marveled at Launchpad's stories. It was amazing how a single man was able to survive many crashes, most he came out unscathed, while others not so much. Nevertheless, this guy was absolutely incredible.
When they finally arrived, Scrooge and Launchpad had already gotten into the Golden Condor while the plane was starting up, but Tyler decided to stay behind because he needed something from Gyro which Scrooge could understand by the look on his face. So after they left, with Duckworth waiting in the car after Scrooge told him to wait for the boy until he was finished with his business with the inventor, Gyro asked Tyler, "So what do you need from me?"
"Well, for starters...I have a favor to ask."
"Such as?"
"Well, you see, the last time I went on an adventure with Mr. Scrooge, there was some...problems. So I thought that next time I need to take better precautions. In short, I need something defensive, just in case if things go south while going on another adventure. I doubt my slingshot will be enough. So will it be alright if I borrow any of your inventions that could be used for defensive uses?"
"Defensive use, huh?" Gyro brought a finger under his beak as he was in his thoughts, then about a few seconds, he said, "Well, I do have something that could be useful, and I can give you something that should help when you're going out to the Andes or anywhere else. Wait right here."
While Tyler was waiting, Gyro was digging around the place...until he pulls out a box and blows the dust off of it. When gets back to Tyler, he brings the box towards a work desk while saying to him, "I hadn't sold these inventions, yet, but I did keep them in case anyone needed it."
He opens the box and brings out some sort of tan colored harness with a flashlight attached on the right-side, but looking at it closely, Tyler could see lines on both straps. "What's this?"
"This is a utility harness," Gyro answered while he explained. "It's compatible for anyone to wear due to the rubber straps it has." He simplified that by pulling on one-side of the harness, also revealing to Tyler what those lines whereas the inventor continues to explain, "It even has pouches you can store since they're all empty, which of course you can find something useful to store in them, and not to mention…" He turns on the flashlight as Tyler blocks the light with a single hand. "It even has a built-in flashlight."
"Neat. What else?"
After turning off the flashlight, Gyro concludes his explanation on the utility harness, "Well, besides weather resistant to heat and cold, it even has a belt, like so." He simplified that by pulling at the bottom part of the strap, revealing a belt.
When he offered it to Tyler, he immediately took off his jacket and tried it on. After snapping the belt on with a click, he moved side-to-side while telling Gyro, "How do I look?"
"You look great," Gyro nods, then he went back to the box as he was digging through. "Now then, if you ever get into a situation when you need to defend yourself...use this." He pulls out a black metallic wrist watch with buttons and an odd black and grey device that was shaped like a bird's feather with a hole on top of it along with a single button.
"What's that?" Tyler asked while motioning his head towards that bird feather-shaped device.
"This here, is a motion-sensored boomerang which I like to call: The Smart-A-Rang."
"The What-A-Rang?" Tyler had an odd look while crossing his arms.
"Smart...A...Rang," Gyro simplified through each word so Tyler would understand. "Unlike an ordinary boomerang which returns to its owner, it can be controlled through motion."
"But how does it work?"
Gyro leads Tyler outside while explaining to him, "Well, the Smart-A-Rang can react through one's motions through movement. However, due to a lot of movement here and there across the world, it has a…" He moved his hand in a so-so motion. "...tendency to act of a mind of its own, hence the name. But, in order to control the flow of its own motion without letting it run wild…" He shows him the wrist watch. "Is with this. The motion-sensored watch." He then explains to him about the watch. "It has its own communication system through voice-command." He presses a button as the face of it opens up, revealing a microphone and an antenna popping up from the top. "Which means, all you have to do is say a name and the system will do the rest." He then presses another button, closing the communication system as the face pops-up a computer map. "It even has a map system of the world. So whenever you get lost, you can always count on this. On top of that…" He presses another button as it was showing 7:30 a.m. that was in green. "It can even tell time from every part of the world and where we're at."
"Wow, cool! What else can it do?"
"Well, like the utility harness, it can withstand heat and cold while also keeping the wearer comfortable from any sort of weather." Shutting it off, he then explains, "Now, to work The Smart-A-Rang, first you need to turn-on the motion-sensor on the watch." He pressed another button as the face of the watch turned blue. "Always be sure to turn it on before using the boomerang." Putting the watch, he continues his explanation, "Now, The Smart-A-Rang has two working functions. You can press this button on the top," He pressed the button on top of the boomerang as the sides popped open until it became V-shaped, "or you can give it a nice good toss and it will automatically activate."
With that, he gave it a good toss as the boomerang soared through the air, then Gyro began moving his arm. Given the motion of command, the boomerang began doing wave movements, then it went to a full circle by Gyro's motion since he had the watch. Tyler couldn't help but be in absolute awe as he watched the boomerang follow Gyro's motion. "Wow, this is amazing!"
"If you think that's amazing," Gyro motioned his hand, commanding the boomerang to return to him as it soared back towards his hand. "Try tossing it towards the head. It'll give someone a heckuva black-eye from this."
After offering the boomerang and watch, after already taking it off, Tyler tries on the watch while saying, "Wow, thanks!" Then he asked Gyro about the boomerang he was holding, "But, where am I supposed to put this? I doubt it'll fit in one of the pouches."
"Oh, not to worry about that." Gyro took the boomerang while taking Tyler's arm that had the watch, and then placed the boomerang as it automatically attached itself. "Whenever it's in it's closed state, it's magnet will automatically activate so you can attach it to your watch."
"Cool!"
Wanting to try something that was really cool, Tyler flicks his wrist as the boomerang goes to his hand, then he lets it slide as its magnet automatically attaches to the watch. Looking at Gyro with a smile on his face, tells him, "Thanks for letting me borrow these, I'll be sure to return them."
"Oh, there's no need for that. You can keep them."
"Really?"
"Of course, they might come-in useful whenever you need them."
Out of happiness for letting him keep the inventions, Tyler hugs Gyro, much to the surprise of the inventor. "Thanks Gyro."
With a smile on his beak, Gyro hugs Tyler back. Then after that, he says to him, "Well, I think you should head back. Don't want to keep Mr. McDuck waiting."
With a nod of his head, Tyler gets his jacket from the work desk he left it at and puts it on, then he waves to Gyro while saying, "Bye Gyro, wish me luck!"
As he left, Gyro says, "Goodbye Tyler, and good luck you're gonna need it." He sighs as he added while smiling, "Will just have to see how well you perform with my inventions. You are after all...an interesting creature."
By the time Tyler managed to return back to the mansion while getting his bag and making his way to the backyard, where there was a helicopter pad where Launchpad already landed without crashing it and the place where everyone was waiting for him to return, he surprised that the three triplets weren't ready to come with them, which of course he asked Scrooge why. But when he told him why…
"What, they're not coming with us!"
"I'm afraid not, lad," Scrooge nods. "The only ones besides Launchpad who are going to the Andes are you and me."
"But Uncle Scrooge!" One of the triplets protested.
"I'm sorry, boys," Scrooge looked at his nephews, "but a venture like this is no place for children."
Louie glares while pointing at Tyler and saying, "But Tyler's a kid and he's going."
"Well, that's not entirely true," Scrooge nodded, then he looked at Tyler, "Lad, why don't you tell the boys how old you are."
Tyler looked at the three triplets and told them, "I'm twelve years old."
"You see, lads," Scrooge said. "Tyler is much older than you three are and he's a year away from being a teenager. So, technically...he's not a kid like you three are and he can help me."
Huey stepped forward and said, "But we could help too, Uncle Scrooge."
Duckworth came forward with a tray containing an envelope while clearing his throat and saying to Scrooge, "Telegram, sir."
Scrooge took the envelope and opened it, revealing a letter while saying to the triplets, "Look, boys, we make a great team, but I owe it to your Uncle Donald not to have you gallivanting around the world with me."
While Scrooge was leading the letter, Tyler thought, "Uncle Donald"? Do these three guys seriously have another uncle that I don't know about yet?
"But you're gonna need someone besides both Tyler and Launchpad." Huey says.
"And it looks like I found him." Scrooge said while showing them all the letter, he read. "Your uncle has a three-day pass while his ship is in Panama."
"Oh, treasure hunting with Tyler and a visit with Uncle Donald." Dewey says.
"It's not fair!" Louie says while crossing his arms and glaring.
"Sorry, boys," Scrooge apologizes to them, "but I have to do what's best." He spreads his arms out. "Do I get a hug goodbye?"
The three triplets turn their backs on him while Dewey and Louie raise their heads up, and Huey places his fists on the sides, their way of saying no to their uncle. In fact, they rather hug Tyler goodbye since he was going alone.
"All right, but I'll miss ya." He walks away while looking at Tyler and saying to him, "Come along, lad, let's go."
...Only for him to stop when Tyler said to him in a hard tone, "No."
He looked at Tyler with an odd look. "What did you say?"
"You head what I said, I said no." He turns his back on him while crossing his arms. He felt a little upset that his friends weren't coming along and all that planning to get ready had all been for nothing. "If my friends aren't coming, then I ain't comin' too, so you can forget it."
Scrooge had a smug grin on his beak, as if he anticipated this, then he said to him, "Now lad, that's just no way for his apprentice to talk to his teacher that way."
"Oh, yeah, like I'm supposed to be-" He stopped what he said as he had a shocked look on his face, then he turned to face Scrooge. "Wait a second! Did you just say…'apprentice'?"
The three triplets had shocked looks of their own as they turned around and said in unison, "Apprentice?"
Even Mrs. Beakley and Webby were both shocked as well as the elderly female duck said, "Apprentice?"
Then Webby. "Apprentice?"
Duckworth was shocked when he heard his boss say that as this was beyond him as he said while his jaw dropped, "Apprentice?"
Scrooge laughs at them and says, "That's right, everyone, you all heard right!" He went over to Tyler. "Lad, I'll admit that despite your...otherworldly appearance, you possess talent, ones that remind me of myself when I was young. So, I want to make a deal with ya."
"Alright, what is it?"
"Since you're still under debt to me and need the money to finish your debt, I want you to help me in whatever way you can to find the Treasure of the Golden Suns for me. Do this, and I can teach you a lot of things I've learned whenever I'm not too busy, and to add-in, you'll have a place to stay and a room of your own since you have nowhere else to go and need someone to watch over you and look after you until Gyro builds that machine again. Furthermore, lad...I can make your dreams come true."
Tyler gave a weak chuckle while shrugging, "Like you know anything about my dreams."
Scrooge smirks, then said to him as Tyler became shocked, "You want to go on an adventure and see the world, see so many new places and meet new people, and hopefully one day make a name for yourself."
"Wha-...How did you-" He stopped himself as he connected the pieces. "...Gyro." He sighs as he nods while placing his hand on his forehead. This was going to be the last time he'll ever spill his secrets to him again.
"Oh, and to compensate for the treasure that'll be given to you, that's once we do find it, you will receive…" He hummed while placing a finger under his beak...then he said, "Fifteen percent."
Everyone except Tyler was shocked at this. It wasn't like him to just offer something like this, especially to a kid who's from a different world. However, Tyler had a smirk as Scrooge had his own shocked expression and his beak dropped when Tyler gave him an offer by saying, "Fifty percent."
Scrooge's look turned serious as he gave him a counter-offer, "Twenty percent."
"Thirty-five."
"Twenty-five!"
"Ah!" Tyler held up a finger to silence Scrooge. "Take it or leave it, old-timer, I am being generous."
Scrooge grunts as he couldn't believe he was out-betted by a kid and covers his eyes with a single hand as he said through clenched teeth, "What is it with you kids and money?" Not wanting to let something like this get to him, he took his hand away from his eyes while sighing, then he thrusted his hand forward and said, "Do we have a deal then, lad?"
Looking at the hand that Scrooge was offering to him, Tyler thought of this carefully. He was in a world he barely knows and wasn't quite sure if it was the same in his world, Scrooge saw potential in him and wanted to help improve him so once he leaves and returns back to his world he'll be better prepared, not to mention he was not only offering him twenty-five percent of the treasure but was also wanting to make his dreams come true right there on a silver platter. Looking at his three friends for the moment, Huey and Dewey didn't do anything, and Louie shook his head no, telling him that he shouldn't take the deal and he should stay with them. But Tyler knew that this was his choice, his decision...his dream.
So with that, he looked back at Scrooge with a smile, and took his hand while saying, "Deal!"
Scrooge was a little surprised, though his face didn't show it, that Tyler shook his hand with a nice grip like how a man would do it. When that was done, he took his hand back and told him, "Alright, lad, it's time to go."
"Can I at least say my goodbyes first?"
Scrooge nods his head as he is allowed to.
Tyler goes to the three triplets first, then bends down as he had his arms spread out, but like what happened to Scrooge, the three triplets turn their backs on him. "Ah, come on, you guys, don't be like that. Don't tell me you're still sore over me being with Webby?"
"It's not that." Huey said. "It's just that you're leaving us with Uncle Scrooge."
"It's not fair that you're not only an apprentice to our uncle now," Louie said. "But you're going to find the treasure without us and you'll probably keep most of it if you find it."
Tyler could understand what they were saying, it would be pretty unfair if Tyler did get most of the treasure and they didn't, if the situation was reversed, he'd be in the same situation as they were. "I understand how you guys feel, but this is something that I have to do. I'm still stuck under debt and this adventure is the only way I'm gonna pay-off it, but if it makes you feel better guys, I can make it up to you now or later whichever you prefer, and I'll do anything for you guys whatever I can."
"Anything?" Dewey said.
"Anything," Tyler repeated.
The three triplets looked at one another, then they looked back at Tyler as Huey said, "Can you get a souvenir at the Andes so we can see it? We can forgive you just this once if you do it."
"Well…" Tyler had a sceptical look, but he continued, "I could try. No promises or guarantees on it though." He held up a finger. "But I can promise you I'll give you guys something when I get back."
"What is it?" The three triplets said in unison.
"You'll see...it's a surprise." With that, he spreads his arms out again, and this time all three of them gave him a group hug. "I'm gonna miss you guys." When that was done, he went over to Webby as he bends down and pets her head while saying, "Goodbye, Webby, take of yourself."
Webby hugs his neck and says to him, "Goodbye, Tyler, I'll miss you."
He stood up as he looked at the elderly female duck and told her, "Goodbye, Mrs. Beakley."
"Goodbye, Tyler, take care of yourself and come home safely."
With a nod, he then turned his attention to Duckworth as he offered his hand and told him, "Goodbye, Mr. Duckworth."
"Goodbye sir," Duckworth shook his hand while he continued, "but please, no need for formalities, just Duckworth will do. And good luck...you're going to need it."
With all said and done, Tyler went to Scrooge. "I'm ready."
With a nod from him, Scrooge motions his cane towards the plane, where he decided to let the boy go first before. When he starts to go inside, Scrooge follows him, but stops for the moment as he looks back at Mrs. Beakley and waves his cane while saying, "Take good care of them, Mrs. Beakley."
"Oh, I will, Mr. McDuck." Mrs. Beakley waved back with her granddaughter doing the same, then she added, "But you make sure to watch over Tyler while he's with you."
With a nod from Scrooge, he enters the plane as the beak closes, but right before the plane leaves, the three triplets huddle together as Huey whispers to his brothers, "If we don't take care of her first until Tyler gets back."
The three triplets slightly laugh as they had plenty of ideas to get rid of Mrs. Beakley and Webby, just until Tyler returns from his adventure with their uncle.
It had been about a few hours since they left the mansion, and Tyler was now in between Launchpad and Scrooge when the pilot had said, "That's Panama dead ahead."
Tyler couldn't help but mutter in awe, "Wow." For the first time in his life, he's never actually been to Panama, but it still looked so great from high-above.
Scrooge already took out a pair of binoculars as he brought it towards his eyes and said, "And there's Donald's aircraft carrier. He should be checking out soon."
Tyler taps his shoulder and asks the elderly duck, "Where the aircraft carrier?"
"Right over there, lad," Scrooge points to where the aircraft carrier was. "You'll see it."
Tyler looks and sees the aircraft carrier, and again he says "Wow." Just as Scrooge said, "Ah, there he is now."
"Where's this 'Donald' guy?"
"Take a look." The elderly duck offered him the binoculars to see through it.
Tyler brings his eyes towards it and sees one male duck and one male dog, who was sitting on a chair and writing a piece of paper on a desk. From what he could make out from both of them at this height, the male duck wore a sailorman navy uniform with a white sailors hat, and the other wore a navy uniform as well but this one looked like he was a higher-up as he wore a cap on top of his head. However, he also noticed that the male duck had a camera with him who brought it towards his face, and a flash came, causing the male dog and whatever rank he was to be knocked off his chair. The duck then tries to run towards him, but accidentally knocks away some papers from the desk.
Tyler takes his eyes away from the binoculars while chuckling and saying to Scrooge, "He's a bit of a klutz."
Scrooge put his eyes back towards the binoculars, seeing that Tyler was right as he agreed by saying, "Aye, that's Donald." He then looked at Launchpad and told him, "Looks like we can pick him soon and be on our way."
"If you say so, Mr. McD."
Launchpad pushes forward the steering controls, causing the plane to dive forwards as Tyler cries out "Whoa!" as he was pushed back and sent towards his seat and Scrooge yelling, "Not like this!"
Tyler shut his eyes tight as they continued downwards at this angle...only to finally come back at a normal angle as he took a deep breath and opened his eyes. He looked at Launchpad's seat and said to him while glaring, "A little warning next time, why don'tcha."
"Sorry kid," Launchpad apologized.
Scrooge got off of his seat while Tyler asked him, "What happened?"
"You'll see, come along."
He shrugged his shoulders as he followed the elderly duck, then he watched as Scrooge opened the hatch, revealing Donald himself as he was caught by the plane's claws and was lifted up while waving his arms in an angry manner and saying in a quack-like voice, "Hey, let me go, let me go! What's the big idea? Put me down!"
Donald was tossed inside as he landed on his rear, and Scrooge greets him by saying, "Hello, nephew."
"Uncle Scrooge?" Donald had a confused look, then he turned his attention towards the pilot, completely oblivious to Tyler who was standing next to him, and said to him while glaring his eyes, "What's the big idea, you stupid hotshot?"
"What's the matter with his voice?" Launchpad said as he clearly had no idea what Donald just said to him. "Did I grab him by the neck or something?"
Donald's quack-like voice said in a gibberish but angry language that not even anyone inside the plane could understand him as he pulled up one sleeve and starts to march over to the pilot, but Scrooge stops him by grabbing his neckerchief and calmly tells him, "Easy, Donald, easy." Donald looked at his uncle, then back at the pilot while his uncle continued saying, "This is Launchpad, my pilot."
Then, Donald hears another voice, this time a young boy as he adds, "Yeah, so take it easy, dude. Don't go strangling the only pilot we got." He had an odd look as he turned around and saw Tyler, who gave him a small wave and greeted him by saying, "Hey there."
Donald wasn't in the mood to be talking with anybody, especially kids, but he waved him off while saying in an unamused tone, "Oh, hey." He turned back to face the pilot...but then his eyes widened as he sharply turned around, this time making sure he was seeing right as he was seeing a creature with only just a patch of fur on top of his head and nothing else, not even feathers…
Then he jumps slightly into the air, his feathers looked like they were hit with electricity as they spiked up, and his pupils blinked as he screamed "BWAAAAAAAAAAAA!", making Tyler jump slightly as he watched the duck run through the air and lands on Scrooge's arms, making the elderly duck grunt in the process as his nephew shook with absolute fright as he points at the boy and yells, "HOW TOLEDO, UNCLE SCROOGE! WHAT IS THAT THING?!"
Scrooge had an unamused look as he dropped his nephew, making him quack "Wak!" as the elderly duck dusted himself and said to him, "That, dear nephew, is Tyler Johnson." Then he introduces the boy to his nephew. "Tyler, this is another nephew of mine, and me nephews' other uncle, Donald Duck."
Tyler offered his hand and said to Donald, "Pleasure to meet ya."
Donald's beak remained agape from shock, but he looked at his uncle while he told him, "Go ahead, Donald, he's harmless."
He gulped a little bit of air, then slowly brought his hand towards Tyler, then felt his hand get gripped and shook in a greeting manner, much to his confusion. Then the boy helped him up as Donald couldn't take his eyes away from this creature for a moment...then covered his eyes with a single hand while walking away from and saying as though he was trying to deny what he saw, "I'm must be seeing things."
He didn't see a crate ahead of him after taking his hand away from his eyes, and crashed at it while crying out "Ow!" as reality managed to slap some sense into him, then Launchpad said, "Talk about a coupla quarts low."
While the journey towards the Andes mountains continued, it took awhile for both Tyler and Scrooge to explain to Donald a lot of things that happened while he was away.
So far, Donald learned that this kid came from another world through Gyro's machine, but what shocked him was that he also learned that the world he came from was Earth, an alternative Earth much different than this one. Not to mention, from what he learned from his uncle, that he saved his nephews twice in a row and once from his own uncle from the previous adventure.
Speaking of adventure, Scrooge managed to fill him in on what's really going and why he needed him. So far, he needed not only a pilot to fly in the Andes and out of it, but he also needed two people to back him up in case things go south, much to Donald's surprise that he needed a kid to help him. Which of course, his uncle told him he had his reasons while he winked at Tyler as the boy winked him back.
When they finally arrived at the Andes mountains, they managed to spot a fortress on top of a mountain as Launchpad said to Scrooge, "I think we're here, Mr. McD."
"Aye, it's the only mountain we've seen with a fortress on it. Let's get closer and look for a place to land."
Before that could even happen, the plane started to shake as Donald said, "What? What's happening?"
"What'd he say?" Launchpad asked.
"He wants to know what's happening." Scrooge answered.
"It's these freakish mountain winds. Whoa!" The plane started descending downwards. "I can't control it!"
They all started to scream as they kept going down towards the fortress.
"I can't watch." Scrooge covers his eyes.
"Me, too," Tyler said as he covered his eyes from the inevitable crash that was going to occur.
"Me, neither," Donald said as he too covered his eyes.
"Me, neither," Launchpad said as also covered his eyes.
CRASH!
After their little crash came to an end, much to anyone's surprise that no one was hurt, they managed to climb up to the top of the mountain. Which unfortunately, Tyler was the only one who had trouble climbing since he wasn't the best climber. But thanks to Scrooge, he was able to get to the top. However, he noticed that frightened look as he asked him, "Afraid of heights, lad?"
"No," Tyler admitted. "Afraid of falling."
With a small chuckle, he told him, "Well, don't fall then."
"That's easy for you to say."
When Donald became the last one to make it to the top, he said, "We made it!"
"Well, of course." Launchpad said. "You're flying with the king of wings."
When Donald was starting to have a little trouble in trying to reach for something so he could join them at the top, Scrooge and Tyler helped him as they each grabbed an arm and started pulling with Donald groaning, "Oh...whoa."
"You know," Launchpad said as they looked at him with Scrooge glaring at him, seeing the slightly damaged plane still holding on the edge by its claw and was rocking due to the wind as the pilot spread his arms. "I just don't feel right unless I bring'em in for a real Launchpad McQuack landing."
Little parts of the earth that the claw was holding onto came loose as they all watched the plane falling downwards...then came a loud crash.
Placing the back hands on his hips with pride, Launchpad says, "Huh, now I feel better."
"Well, I don't." Scrooge said as he took out a device from his pocket and handed it to Launchpad. "Here, take this homing device and find the plane."
Looking down with a nervous look, Launchpad says to him, "I have to climb all the way down there?"
"There's a quicker way down." Scrooge glares at him.
Getting the point to what he meant, he quickly says, "I'm going, boss, I'm going."
As Launchpad starts to climb down, Scrooge looks at both Tyler and Donald as he says to them, "Come on, let's pay them a visit."
They walked towards a door that had a symbol of a golden sun that was smiling. Donald was the first to open it as he looked inside, then he looked at his uncle and said, "Look at that!"
Scrooge shushes him as they quietly go inside.
Inside the fortress, they see natives bowing down at an altar where at the very top had another sun symbol that was carved in stone, but the at the altar who stood over the natives was a male dog who had black on his hair, beard, eyebrows, and moustache. From what all three of them could see, who wore what appeared to be a Spanish conquistador outfit that came from the 1700's, consisting of a helmet, breastplate, neck frill, yellow and purple puffs on his shoulders with the same color on his pants, light-purple sleeves, and purple gloves and boots. As the three of them were hugging a wall, Scrooge brought Tyler down with him while the boy said to the elderly duck, "Hey, what're you-"
Scrooge shushed him as he took Tyler's hood and brought it down over his head. "Keep your hood down and don't take it up unless I say otherwise. Oh, and take this." He reached into his pocket and pulled out the second coin, then took the boy's hand and placed the coin on it. "I think it might come in handy later if this is in your hands."
With a nod from Tyler, he places the coin in his pocket.
They looked up ahead and noticed something shiny from the male dog's hand while he said to the natives in a Spanish accent, "Behold as our father the sun looks down upon his children and blesses his golden coin once more."
As the natives chanted "Gold sun! Gold sun! Gold sun!" Tyler's eyes narrowed as he could see another coin with the same sun symbol, the same one that both he and Scrooge possess.
Donald notices that same coin, after learning from his uncle that he possesses two coins while they were still on the plane as he showed him, and seeing him give him that second coin to Tyler, he says to his uncle while pointing to that same coin that the Spanish dog possessed, "Look, Uncle Scrooge. It's just like yours and Tyler's." He brings out his camera as he brought it to his eyes. "I gotta get a picture of this."
"Donald, no!" Scrooge and Tyler said in unison as the boy tried to stop him by covering the flash with his one hand, but came too late as both Tyler and Scrooge closed their eyes from the flash.
Seeing that flash, the male Spanish dog points at them and shouts, "Intruders!"
The natives looked at them and gave out angry looks while Scrooge gave a small chuckle and said, "Gotta run."
"That sounds like a good idea," Tyler agreed as he, Scrooge, and Donald made a run for it.
"By the power of the coin," the male Spanish dog commanded as the natives ran after them. "I command you to destroy them!"
The two ducks and small boy continued to run, but slid to a stop as they looked over the edge. "Curse me kilts, we're trapped!" The elderly duck said.
"That's not the worst of it," Tyler said as he pointed. "Look!"
The natives were coming there way as Scrooge jumps on a rock with both his nephew and apprentice standing beside him, brings his cane in a defensive manner while swinging it and saying to the natives, "Come on, you won't find Scrooge McDuck so easy to take!" He gave another swing towards the natives while Donald got into a put'em-up position and Tyler activated the motion-sensor of the watch while getting out the boomerang. "Come on, you haggis-faced galoots! The three of us are ready for ya!" With another swing of cane...WHACK! Donald collapsed front-first as he was hit at the back of the head. His sailor's hat fell off and his tongue was out as he groaned while his right eye was swirling with yellow and red, and pink balls were going around his head. Seeing that he accidentally whacked his nephew, Scrooge jumps off the rock and lands on his nephews back while crying out, "Donald!"
Tyler got in front of the elderly duck while raising his boomerang, ready to throw it at the natives as he wanted to see how well it'll handle a crowd. But while the elderly duck was shaking Donald, trying to wake him up, his golden sun coin came out of his pocket. When the natives saw that, they stopped what they were doing as they chanted, "Gold sun! Gold sun! Gold sun!"
Tyler had a confused look while they continued to chant, "Gold sun! Gold sun! Gold sun!" He looked to where Scrooge was and noticed the coin on the ground, then back at the crowd of natives as they were bowing to them. "Hey, Mr. Scrooge," he said to the elderly duck as looked at him, after already noticing this odd predicament, and pointed at the coin that was now shining due to the sun's light. "Your coin."
Looking to where the boy was pointing, he noticed his coin was on the ground as it wasn't in his pocket anymore. Putting two and two together, he picked up his coin and said, "Well, pop me plaids, they think I'm a high priest, too." He gave a small chuckle while looking at the boy and added while whispering to him, "But they'll be surprised when they see what you have, lad." He winks at him as the boy winks at him back. In fact, he couldn't blame him, if the natives knew that he too possessed a sun coin, then they think he's a high priest too...Except he was just a kid.
When Donald came too, he said, "What happened?"
Scrooge got off Donald's back and said to him, "I finally found some people who appreciate money as much as I do. At least this money."
The male Spanish dog came as he noticed the natives were bowing at the intruders as he said to them, "Why are you just kneeling here?" He points at them. "I order you to get them!" However, much to his shock, the elderly duck showed him the same sun coin that he possessed. "No, it can't be." He looks at his own coin. "Another coin."
With an angry expression, he tried to go to the elderly duck, but was blocked by two natives as they crossed their arms and everyone chanted, "Gold sun! Gold sun! Gold sun!"
"But, my children, he's an enemy." He tried to reason with the natives.
Scrooge goes past the two natives who were blocking the male Spanish dog and waves a finger, telling him to bend down. The moment when the male Spanish dog did so, the elderly duck played a magic trick on him by pulling the gold coin out of his ear, much to the male Spanish dog's surprise when he placed his hand on his ear. Raising that coin up, the natives cheered while the elderly duck said, "It appears they're my children, too."
Bending down, the male Spanish dog whispers to him, "So it would seem...for now." Straightening up, he announces for all the natives to hear while introducing himself and bowing, "Welcome, fellow sun priest. I am Joaquin Slowly, your honored host." He shook hands with the elderly duck as the natives cheered once again. However, his eyes noticed a young child who had a hood up. After taking his hand back, he asked, "And who's this?"
"Oh, him? That's a friend, he's with us."
Joaquin goes towards the boy and bends down, trying to see his face, but the boy quickly turns his head while pulling his hood closer as he tries to hide his face further in the shadows. "What are you hiding, senor?"
Tyler didn't give him a straight answer, but instead shrugged his shoulders.
With narrow eyes since this boy wouldn't reveal himself to him, he takes the boy's hood, but Scrooge says to him, "I wouldn't do that, Slowly. You see he's-"
"He's what? He's just a boy who's hiding his face from me, and I want to see who he is."
The moment when Joaquin took the boy's hood down...he jumped back and back screams slightly with fright. The natives began murmuring when they saw the boy's face.
He points a shaky finger at the creature before him and says in Spanish, "Qué es esa cosa fea?" ("What is that ugly thing?)
Tyler glares at him while crossing his arms as he understands what he said.
As the natives continue to murmur on who or what this creature is, Scrooge steps forth while raising his arms and telling them, "Everyone please, don't panic. I know he looks strange, but I can assure you he's a friend. You see he's-"
"I'm the son of the father sun."
Joaquin had a look that said "I don't believe you" and the natives began murmuring again when the boy said that. Scrooge looks at the boy and whispers, "Lad, what are you doing?"
"Trust me," he whispers back while winking at him as he turns his attention back towards the natives. "I have come down from the heavens to see my father's people. This man you see before me, is my chosen priest to spread the word across the globe, for where I have blessed him with the sun coin you see before you."
Once again, more murmurs came. But was he truly a God sent by the father sun? Joaquin didn't seem convinced as he crossed his arms and said, "Really now? If you truly are the son of the father sun…" He smiles at him. "Then who is the sun God's name?"
Tyler had his own smile as he gave him his answer. "His name...is Inti."
Joaquin's arms dropped as well as his jaw when the boy knew about that God's name. Even the natives were surprised as one of them said "Inti." and "The son of Inti." However, none of them didn't realize that the moment Tyler said that name of their sun God...he was right on the money. In fact, he learned a lot of histories, including myths and legends, and some of them were Gods. The boy then points at Joaquin, and says, "You of all people should know about my father's name, and it was you who prayed for someone to appear from the sun to give a blessed day to his people. Am I right?"
The natives looked at Joaquin, who was unprepared for this as he could tell that they wanted to know if this was true or not. Seeing that he didn't want to lose his hold, he said, "Why, uh, yes...Yes, yes, of course!" He raises his arms. "My children, it is true that I have prayed for our father the sun to send someone down from the heavens to give our thanks on this blessed day. And now...that time has come!"
With a cry of "Hooray!" from the natives, they were happy to know that their father, the sun had sent his child to give thanks to them. However, Scrooge gave a small chuckle as he could understand Tyler's little plan that he just did as he whispers to him, "Good work, lad. That was very smart the way you pulled it off, you clever fox."
With a little pride on his face, Tyler said with a smile, "Thanks, I try."
As all four of them went inside, Joaquin turned his attention towards the elderly duck and the unusual creature before him and said to them, "All right, you interferers, I want that coin and I want that...that thing off my mountain before the both of you ruin my hold over those backward savages."
Donald glares at him while pulling up a sleeve and raises a fist. "You can't talk to Tyler and my uncle like that!"
Having a confused look, he pointed at Donald and asked Scrooge, "What did he say?"
Donald raises his fist higher and repeats, "I said you can't talk to Tyler and my uncle like that!"
Scrooge picks him up slightly and puts him at the side while telling him, "I'll handle this, Donald." While Donald crosses his arms and continues to glare at Joaquin, Scrooge taps his cane on the breastplate two times and says to him, "Before we start negotiating, sonny, I have a few questions."
Joaquin slaps away the cane and tells him, "I don't answer to peasants."
"What, you want us to answer you in Spanish?" Tyler said.
"Spanish? Ha! You don't know my language, boy."
Tyler gave him a smirk and said to him in Spanish, "Quiere apostar, senor." ("Wanna bet, senor.")
Joaquin's jaw dropped in shock as the boy actually spoke his language. Scrooge and Donald looked at him while Donald asked his uncle, "Huh, what did he say?"
Scrooge just shrugged, but then gave off a small chuckle while smiling as he said to Tyler, "Lad, you never told me you could speak Spanish."
"You never asked," Tyler shrugged.
Scrooge could understand that, but at least now he could add that to the list of things about Tyler.
Joaquin glared at the boy and said in Spanish, "Muy bien, quien eres, que eres y cómo sabes mi idioma?" ("Alright, just who are, what are you, and how do you know my language?")
"El nombre es Tyler Johnson y soy un humano. En cuanto a saber tu idioma, digamos que tome clases de español para hablar con fluidez en ese idioma."
("The name's Tyler Johnson, and I'm human. As for knowing your language, let's just say I've taken Spanish class to speak fluently in that language.")
Joaquin raises an eyebrow while crossing his arms. "Humano? Nunca he oído hablar de tal cosa." ("Human? Never heard of such a thing.") He then placed the back of his hands on his hips. "Entonces dígame, señor, ¿por qué hace un monstruo feo como usted en mi montaña?" ("So tell me, senor, why is an ugly freak like yourself doing on my mountain?")
Tyler glares at him as he had enough being called names through Spanish. "Monstruo feo? A quién llamas feo monstruo?! Monstruo feo!" ("Ugly freak? Who are you callin' an ugly freak?! Ugly freak!")
Joaquin growls while glaring at him when he says that. After both Scrooge and Donald watched while looking at both of them, with the elderly duck being intrigued by their conversation in Spanish, the elderly duck decided to step-in before things got out of hand as he took the hook of his cane and brought Tyler downwards by his shoulder as he said to him, "Tyler, whatever your saying to him, stop it."
"Hey, he started it."
"And I'm going to finish it. So please, keep your mouth shut and let me do the talking." Tyler motioned his hand to allow him to proceed. "Thank you." He then turned his attention back to Joaquin. "Don't mind him, he can be a bit of a troublemaker if you provoke him." Joaquin turns his back on him with the elderly duck pointing his cane at the back of his head. "Look, Walkin', you and I are both used to getting our own way, only this time," he pushes Joaquin's helmet as it covers his eyes, surprising him slightly, "it's my way or no coin."
"Very well." Joaquin turned his attention back to them while moving his helmet off of his eyes. "What do you wish to know, senor?"
"Everything."
Joaquin walks past them as they follow him while he begins his tale. "My family has lived here for 400 years." He led them up towards the altar, where many statues, no doubt many of his relatives from long ago, were lined up around the altar. He then showed them one statue as he told them, "It all began when my ancestor Marching Slowly and his companion stole a boatload of treasure from the Valley of the Golden Suns. But the ship captain sailed away with the treasure and left Marching and his partner behind with only this one coin."
"So you know where the valley is?" Scrooge asked.
"Not really." Joaquin answered truthfully. "Marching and his partner Juan Tanamera made a map and tore it in two before they went their separate ways. Juan sailed away on an ocean current from Rioeo, never to be seen again. My ancestor stumbled onto these cliff-dwelling sun worshippers."
"Do you still have your half of the map?"
"Of course." Joaquin shows Scrooge his coin. "But this is what's truly valuable." He spins the coin sideways with his finger. "This is total power."
While Joaquin was talking to Scrooge, Tyler felt a tap on his shoulder as he turned around, only to find a native offering him a plate of one of the fruits, drinks, and a single tomato, but Tyler managed to pluck off a banana and gave the native a thumbs-up. With a smile of satisfaction, knowing that the small God was pleased, the native turned the attention towards Donald while Joaquin finished by saying, "With the sun coin, I can make these superstitious peasants do whatever I want." Seeing that native offering food, he uses his boot to push that native by the rear, making the native lose balance and crash at Donald while dumping the contents on the ground and a tomato lands on his head. "Not now!"
While the native was picking the contents up, Donald glares at him and says, "Hey, watch it!"
Tyler gave Joaquin his own glare, after only finishing only half of his banana, and said to him in Spanish, "Sabes lo que pienso? No eres más que un gran matón, gran idiota!" ("You know what I think? You're nothing more than a big bully, ya big jerk!")
"I don't know what the lad said," Scrooge said. "But you're nothing more than a petty tyrant! You ought to be ashamed of yourself!"
"I'll handle this." Donald said as he marched over there.
He tried to hit him in the chest, but only managed to make it give out a ting sound while hurting his hand and crying "Ow, ow, ow, ow!" as he hops while clutching his hand, but didn't look where he was going as his head bumps into a statue, making it start to tumble down. Then, like dominoes, they began falling in line as Joaquin clutched the sides of his head and cried, "Aye yai yai!" He tries to make them stop by going to a nearby statue, but Tyler managed to finish his banana as he dropped the peel near where he was running, making him slip on it while crying "Yah!" as his feet kicked the air and landed hard on the ground, groaning as he clutches the back of his head.
Seeing that funny spectacle, Tyler laughs at him, then Donald joins in while pointing at Joaquin as he thought this was funny as well the way Tyler did it. Scrooge, then glares as he says to Donald while making him stop laughing, "Donald, go help Launchpad before ya blow this deal." He then turned his attention to Tyler and added, "And Tyler, you go with him, I don't want you causing anymore trouble."
Tyler shrugged as he had no problem with that, but Donald said, "But I wanna-"
"Now, Donald!"
With a glare, he picked up his sailor's hat after it was already knocked down, and said while putting it on, "Hah! You're as bossy as he is."
Tyler pats his shoulder and tells him, "C'mon Donald, I didn't like him anyways, so I was already planning on leaving while looking around anyway. So let's look for Launchpad together while we're looking."
While the two of them left, Joaquin got up while having an angry scowl on his face and he said to Scrooge while having his fists form into tight fists as they shook, "You and that el fenomeno of yours will pay for this!"
"Tyler has no intention of paying you anything," Scrooge said to him as he took out his coin. "But I'm willing to pay you with this if the price includes the map."
"That map has been in my family for-"
"Too long." Scrooge taps his cane on Joaquin's breastplate. "You'll never use it. I will. But this'll make ya twice as powerful as you are now. Think about it, Slowly," he pulls a magic trick by making the coin disappear from his hand, "just think about it."
Meanwhile for Tyler and Donald, they managed to find a village while the boy had his eyes looking around here and there. "Do this, Donald. Do that, Donald." The duck kicked up some dirt. "Aw, nuts!"
"Is he really that bad to you?"
"Heh, you don't know half of it." Donald then said, "There's the plane."
When they both saw the plane, it looked both beaten and messed up as smoke was coming from it. Tyler gave a small whistle and said, "Look's pretty bad."
"Where's Launchpad?" No sooner had he said that, they both began hearing voices that were crowded. "What's goin' on?"
"I think we'll soon find out, come on."
Both Donald and Tyler took a ladder which led them to the top of a roof as they both looked down and saw Launchpad, who had his arm grabbed by a male dog who had a golden bird crown and a purple cape, no doubt from Tyler's perspective that he was the chief while the other natives were gathered as the chief said to Launchpad while pointing at him, "You anger children of sun." Then he points at the edge. "You fly or bye-bye."
Launchpad gulped some air and said while giving a weak chuckle, "Uh, actually, Chief, I-I don't think I can flap my arms fast enough." He simplified that by waving his hands in a flapping manner.
The Chief laughed slightly and told him, "You no fly you. You fly him."
He points ahead as Launchpad, Donald, and Tyler look to where he was pointing to. Only for the boy's jaw to drop as he said with surprise, "No way!" What he was actually seeing...was a giant Condor that was being pulled by a cart while it already had it's saddle on. As it was screeching, Tyler said, "That's the biggest Condor I've ever seen."
He couldn't deny that he has seen a Condor before, only through zoo's from his world. But never before in his life has he seen one this big.
Launchpad gulped some air again and said, "Gee, I-I've never flown a live one."
Donald nods while saying, "Boy, that's bad."
"I'll say," Tyler agreed.
The natives already carried Launchpad towards the big Condor, then gave him the heave-ho as he was tossed on its back and wrapped his arms around its neck. Then, the Chief said, "Let test begin. Fly!"
When the cart opened up, the giant Condor came, then took to the air while screeching as Launchpad yelled, "Help!" As the giant Condor ascended higher, Launchpad was holding onto the saddle. "Whoa, bird, whoa!" It then did a loop-de-loop as he fell off the saddle, then by the skin of his teeth, grabbed onto the giant Condor's tailfeathers. "Yeow!"
The natives cheered while Donald yelled, "Hold on, Launchpad!"
"I hate flying coach," Launchpad kept his grip as the giant Condor corkscrews into the air. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!"
"We gotta do something, Donald," Tyler tells him.
"Don't worry, Tyler," Donald said to him. "I'll fix him."
Bringing his camera towards his eyes, just as the giant Condor was at their direction, he snapped a shot of it. The resulting flash causes the giant Condor to stop where it was at while it was screeching, but Launchpad was slung forward, then bounces on a straw ceiling, and lands back on the giant Condor's back as it was shaking away the flash from its eyes. Seeing both Tyler and Donald, he says to them, "Thanks, guys!" He then places his hand on the giant Condor's eyes. "Time to show this overgrown budgie who's the pilot around here."
He waves at them with Donald saying, "Attaboy, Launchpad!"
Then Tyler, "Go get'em, Launchpad!"
The natives were surprised that someone like him was able to tame one of their Condor's. "Easier to steer than a kite." He took his hand off of one eye, then pointed ahead upwards. "Come on, Polly, let's gain some altitude."
Taking the command, the giant Condor flew up while the natives chanted "Birdman! Birdman! Birdman!" as they ran off to catch up with them.
"Come one, Donald, let's go!" Tyler said as he and Donald went after them as well.
Back at the fortress, Scrooge tries to convince Joaquin to trade him the map for the gold coin he possessed, but he stubbornly refuses. "I tell you, hoggin' the map isn't doing either of us any good."
"No. It is a matter of honor."
They hear a bird screech and a cry of "Mayday! Mayday!" as they look and see Launchpad, who had his arms around the giant Condor's eyes as they were descending towards the fortress. "Uh-oh...This doesn't look promising." When they were descending closer to the door, Launchpad screamed "Yeow!" as the door was destroyed and Scrooge and Jaoquin jumped out of the way as both Launchpad and the giant Condor crashed.
When the crash came to an end, Joaquin looked to what happened at the door and back at the crash, covering his head as he screamed with anger. Launchpad stands up, then wobbly walks while saying and slightly chuckling, "I told you, if it has wings, I can crash it."
Scrooge began to grow a worried look for Launchpad after he unintentionally made things worse with Joaquin as he picked up a wooden plank and said to the pilot with anger, "I have had enough! I am going to smack you into ancient history!"
Joaquin raises the plank while Launchpad makes a run for it, but stops for a second as a chant of "Birdman! Birdman! Birdman!" came from the natives as they managed to finally catch up to him. They passed by the two of them while they both had surprised looks, Scrooge became even more surprised when he saw a child with the crowd of natives. "Birdman! Birdman! Birdman!" they chanted as Donald and Tyler managed to arrive as well, then they all watched as Launchpad was carried by the natives with the child leading them as they continued to chant "Birdman! Birdman! Birdman!"
Scrooge's beak was agape while he was scratching the back of his head, then he looked at Tyler to see reason, but the boy only shrugged as he was just as surprised as he was, despite the pilot making a mess of things. As Launchpad was passing by Joaquin, he told him while chuckling slightly, "Hey, uh, I'll take a raincheck, amigo. Ciao."
Joaquin tosses away the plank and said in an almost begging manner, "All right, senor. I'll trade. Just take your friends and your el fenomeno, and go away!"
Tyler and Donald had happy looks in knowing that Joaquin finally gave-in to the deal. Scrooge also had a happy expression as he twirls his cane by the hook with his finger.
While the natives were helping by using a pulley that they brought from their village, they started pulling the already wrecked plane to the top of the mountain. "You three nearly goofed up my deal, but the trade takes place tomorrow at noon." Scrooge said to the three of them. "I don't trust Slowly." He points at Launchpad. "That's why you have to fix the plane by tomorrow."
"Me fix it?" Launchpad said. "B-But I'm a flyer, not a plier."
Donald points at his wrist as if he had a watch and says, "And I gotta get back tomorrow, or…" He held a fist up in the air as if he had a rope, and started making gagging sounds while hanging his tongue out of his beak.
"What'd he say?" Launchpad asked.
"Nevermind." Scrooge answered. "You guys just get the plane fixed."
It was nighttime while Launchpad and Donald were fixing the plane, with Tyler sitting down on the ground while his shoulder light was on, after Launchpad already brought a torch but they decided to use the extra light anyway. While he was just sitting there and just...being available whenever they needed him, he was drawing on his portfolio. "Well, the engines are busted." Launchpad said as he watched Donald fixing the inside of the plane using a wrench. "Those Condors gave me an idea. Trouble is, I don't know how to get her off the ground."
"You leave that to me." Donald said as he winked.
"Great." Launchpad offered his hand which Donald took by using the wrench as they shook. "You handle the takeoff."
"Okay." Donald salutes.
While Launchpad was walking away and unintentionally taking the wrench with him, he stopped for a moment as he had a surprised expression and said, "Things must be worse than I thought. I'm beginning to understand him."
Tyler gave a small chuckle and said, "Well, then that's good, at least now you're not the only one that me and Scrooge can understand him."
Launchpad goes to him as he notices him doing something and asks, "Whatcha doing, kid?"
"It's a surprise for my friends when we head back to the mansion." Tyler answers.
"Huh," Launchpad scratches the side of his head as he wonders what kind of surprise.
One morning at noon, Tyler, Scrooge, and Joaquin were at the altar with the natives bowing to them while chanting "Gold sun! Gold sun! Gold sun!" with Scrooge and Joaquin showing their coins that glowed due to the sunlight hitting it, and Tyler only raising a fist, since he needed to keep his coin hidden and keep up the ruse that he was the Sun God's son, so he had to play the part. When they stopped chanting, Joaquin pulled out a map that was rolled up from out of his glove and handed it to Scrooge. He unrolls it with Tyler looking at it from over his shoulder as he could tell that Joaquin spoke the truth about the map being torn in two. Now they only needed the other half of the map in order to complete it.
Scrooge's pupils became dollar signs with his mind going ka-ching before he blinked them back to normal, then he rolled the map and placed it under his armpit while offering his coin and saying, "A deal is a deal." After he gave his coin, he and Tyler started walking down the stairs, but he whispered to him, "Get ready to run, lad."
Tyler nods in agreement. In fact, just this morning, he warned him to be ready for anything whenever Slowly tried anything. He couldn't agree with him more after Scrooge told them yesterday that he didn't trust him, something that he had in common because one good look told him that this man couldn't be trusted. Not to mention, both of them had a feeling that sooner or later, Slowly was going to double-cross them…
Well, they were both right on the money when they came half-way from the stairs as Joaquin said to the natives, "Behold, children of the sun, I am now the only true priest. Those intruders are fakes." The natives began murmuring while Tyler and Scrooge began picking up the pace. "The creature you have seen before you who claims to be the son of Lord Inti is nothing more than a fraud. What he is, is a creature not of this world...a freak of nature!" When they both made it half-way, they started making a run for it, just as the natives were getting angry as they believed his words. "He has offended our sun god and they have offended our sun coins!"
"Gold sun! Gold sun! Gold sun!" The natives chanted as they were starting to get riled.
Scrooge and Tyler made it towards the exit, just as Joaquin said, "Do as I say. Mount your Condors and destroy the evil ones!"
As he gave off an evil laugh, the natives began going to their Condors.
Scrooge and Tyler were panting as they made it to the plane, now repaired but still slightly damaged. However, the wings were flapping, but had yet to take flight due to a boulder at the edge with a stick wedged in there and a piece of rope tied at the nose of the plane. "Slowly's double-crossed us!" The elderly duck said to Donald and Launchpad. "We've got to beat it!"
Scrooge got inside the plane whilst Tyler was with Donald as he needed help with the boulder. As he sat down with two oars side by side with him, Launchpad instructed him by saying, "Now, when we get airborne, row like crazy." He simplified that by rowing his arms.
Donald tightens the rope on the boulder, then says, "Okay, Launchpad, ready for takeoff."
"What'd he say?" Scrooge asked as he couldn't hear him from where he was at.
"He says we're ready for takeoff." He answered. "Hang on." He gives them a thumbs-up and tells them, "Let'er rip, you guys!"
Tyler and Donald give their own thumbs-up as they both pull down on the stick, with the boy grunting slightly in the process. When the boulder goes down, the weight of it causes the plane to slide towards the edge, until it finally took flight while the rope on the nose snapped off. After Tyler and Donald got out of the way, they watched as the plane was getting higher.
Scrooge looks out the plane, having a happy look as the takeoff was a success and Donald was waving at them. As he sits back down, he remembers that Donald and Tyler were still down there as he grabs Launchpad's shoulders and says, "Donald! Tyler! You forgot them!"
"If you'll start rowin', I'll go back and get them."
Scrooge starts rowing while Launchpad turns the plane around. The beak opens up and reveals a single claw, but while they were getting Donald first before Tyler, the duck waves his arms while saying, "Hurry! Come-"
"Donald, duck!" Tyler said as he jumped to the ground while covering his head.
"What," Donald said while having an odd look at what Tyler was doing, but bird claws grabbed his shoulders as he was lifted into the air. "Hey, what's the big idea?"
When Launchpad saw Donald getting carried away by the natives who were riding their Condors while passing Tyler below them, he scratched the side of his head and said, "That wasn't according to plan." He looks below to see if the boy was alright, but his eyes widened when he said, "What's even worse, the kid's in trouble."
Indeed he was in trouble as he was surrounded by natives after already standing back up, he backed away from them, only to gasp as he nearly slipped from the edge. As he looked down, his vision turned blurry for a second while little bits of rock fell, then returned to normal as he gulped some air. Turning back to the natives, Joaquin was already in front of him, his arms crossed while his right hand fingers tapped and his eyes narrowed at him. Tyler gave him a weak chuckle while giving out an embarrassing smile and waving slightly with his fingers saying, "Uh...hi."
Joaquin grabs him by his shirt, then dangles him over the edge as the boy grabs his arm as if it was a lifeline. His fear of heights never scared him, but the fear of falling from so high up is what scares him. "As much as I'm tempted to dispose of you, here and now, but I'll let you watch as your friends be destroyed." He tosses him to the ground as the boy rolls, then he commands the natives by saying, "Hold him for now, I'll dispose of him after they are dealt with." With that, he watched the spectacle as the natives helped him up, then grabbed his arms. Tyler knew he was in a tight situation. However...he had a backup plan in case things went south, something that not even Joaquin was aware of.
Seeing that the boy was taken hostage, Launchpad says, "Looks like the kid's gonna have to wait. I gotta help Donald first."
As he steers the plane towards Donald while the claw was already out, it reached and grabbed Donald's foot, which made him cry "Yikes!" as he was being pulled.
The Condor screeched as it tried to pull away from the plane, but it became a game of tug-a-war as one tried to pull from the other. However, the shoulders of Donald's shirt ripped as he was free from the Condor's claws. But then, two of the native Condor riders were in between the plane on both sides. "Uh-oh," Launchpad said. "Donald will have to wait as well." Launchpad turns the wheel as it starts to turn, making Scrooge's tophat fall from his head as the plane did a barrel roll and the natives backed their Condor's away before any of them got hit by the wings.
"No, no! Stop them!" Joaquin yelled from below as he watched them. "Knock them out of the sky!"
In the air, Launchpad sees an archway as he leads the plane towards it. He manages to safely fly below it along with a native Condor rider, but another rider crashes at the archway. He then steers the plane towards a rock wall, but below the plane, Donald decides to use his camera on one of the native Condor riders. "Smile," he said to one rider behind them as he clicked his camera, but no flash came. "Uh-oh." He tries to click it again, when that didn't work, he turns it towards him while pulling the strap while he lost his sailors hat to the wind, but the flash came which forced him to cover his eyes and let go of the camera as it came loose from his neck. It sailed over and bonked the heads of both the giant Condor and its rider, making it grow dizzy from the hit.
Launchpad pulls the plane up as it goes up towards the wall, but the native Condor rider crashes since they were still dizzy from getting their heads hit from the camera. When he flipped back over, Donald's foot came loose with a pop as he started to fall while crying "Hey!" Launchpad looks over and sees Donald falling as he tells Scrooge, "Better row faster, Mr. McD. We just lost some baggage."
As Scrooge was rowing as fast as he could, the plane dive-bombed after Donald, but while he said "Hey!", he bounces on a branch and sails upward, right past the plane. Launchpad pulls up the steering wheel while saying, "I hope this baby can handle a u-turn."
While Donald was sailing higher into the air, he caught a glimpse of both native Condor riders as they were both flying towards him. He looks at both sides and says, "Uh-oh." But before any of those native Condor riders could catch him, the plane managed to catch the duck in time as both Condor's crashed into each other and both fell from the sky along with their riders in fit of floating feathers.
Seeing how they were starting to fail at their task, Joaquin yells, "You idiots! Get them! I command you to destroy-" He stopped what he was about to say as both of those native Condor riders were falling to where he was. "No, go back! B-Back I say!" They crashed into him as he cried "Oh!"
"Ooo!" Tyler winced as he hissed.
The two gold sun coins started to roll out of the pile as Joaquin was crawling after them. When they went over the edge, he tried to catch them but missed as they descended down off the cliff. "Nooo!"
He looked over to the natives while they still had the boy as he ordered them by saying, "Climb down there, you peasants. I command you to get me my coins." When they didn't listen, he then said to them, "Listen to me. I am your master."
"Sorry, Joaquin," Tyler said. "But you don't have authority over these people anymore…" He reached in his pocket and pulled out his gold coin as it shined in the sunlight. "I do."
Joaquin gasped with complete shock as the boy possessed that coin as he said, "What! But that's impossible!" The natives began chanting "Gold sun! Gold sun! Gold sun!" while Joaquin grew an angry look. How could that brat possess that coin right under his nose?! Standing up, he shouts, "GIVE ME THAT COIN, BOY!" He tried to charge at the boy, but the natives stood in his way as they grabbed his shoulders. "Take your hands off of me!"
"Hey, guys!" Tyler said to the natives. "It's okay, stand aside…" He activates the motion-sensor on the watch. "I got this." The natives release Joaquin as Tyler waves the coin in a taunting manner in one hand while flicking his wrist as he gets the boomerang from the other and saying, "You want this coin so badly. Come and get it, punk!"
Joaquin shouts as he charges at the boy, but Tyler reacts quickly as he tosses the boomerang below him and points upwards with his finger. The boomerang received that command of motion as it automatically popped open and hit Joaquin in the chin, knocking him off balance as he cried "Oh!" as lands hard on the ground, groaning while his eyes spun in opposite directions. Tyler raises his hand as the boomerang returns to him. "Wow, I love this thing! Oof!" Joaquin's helmet lands on top of Tyler's head, he moves it away from his eyes as he slightly chuckles while adding, "At least now, I got myself a souvenir."
"Gold sun! Gold sun! Gold sun!" The natives chanted as they picked up Tyler. The boy gave another chuckle as they led him away from the now unconscious Joaquin as he said, "I think I can get used to this." Unfortunately, that didn't last long as the plane's claw grabbed Tyler by his shoulder as he was lifted away. The natives cheered and waved at him while the boy waved back and said to them, "Goodbye everybody! Take care!"
As Scrooge managed to help him climb aboard by offering him his cane, they flew further away as they were never seen again by the natives.
As they continued to fly for almost an hour, they were right over a jungle as Launchpad said, "Hey, look, Mr. McD. Rioeo at twelve o'clock low." Looking behind him as he saw Donald take over the rowing while Scrooge had an inflatable boat under his arm, life-jacket that was already put on, and a homing device on his wrist as he adds, "Uh, speaking of clocks, Donald's gotta get back to his ship."
"Yeah, or else…" He lifts the front of his neckerchief in a hanging manner and starts gagging.
"Don't worry, Donald." Scrooge said. "Launchpad will get ya back on time. But first, I'm going to find the other half of that map."
"But how, Uncle Scrooge?" Donald asked.
"Yeah, how?" Tyler adds.
"By following the ocean currents just like Juan Tanamera did 400 years ago."
"Wish I could go, too, Uncle Scrooge." Donald said as he offered his hand.
"Yeah, same here." Tyler adds as he already knew that Scrooge told him he wasn't coming along this time as he needed a breather after going through a lot, plus he needed him to help Launchpad with the supplies when he returns to the mansion.
"So do I, you two," Scrooge took Donald's hand as he shook it. "And the next time, we'll bring the boys."
"You mean it?" Tyler said.
"Of course. This time, lad."
"Alright!"
"Okay!" Donald said as he was just as excited as he was.
Scrooge turns to Launchpad and tells him, "Just follow the homing device when you return with the supply plane, Launchpad."
Launchpad gives him a thumbs-up and said, "Right-o, Mr. McD."
"Hey, Mr. Scrooge," Tyler said as Scrooge turned to face him. The boy digs out his gold sun coin and gives it to the elderly duck. "Here, for good luck and to know that I'm there with you."
Scrooge clutches the coin and says, "I'll keep it close. So I'll know that you're there by my side."
Tyler gives him a smile, then hugs him. The elderly duck smiles as he hugs him back while Donald says "Aww!" as he sees that his uncle made a new friend. When they pull away from each other, Scrooge says while holding onto his tophat, "See ya soon, lads."
"Goodbye," Donald said.
"Good luck," Launchpad said as he pulled the lever and the floor opened up beneath Scrooge and dropped him.
Tyler looks over the hole while cupping his hands and yells, "Until we meet again, Mr. Scrooge!"
As Scrooge was falling, he yelled back, "Till we meet again, lad!" He pulls a cord as the boat starts inflating and quickly gets on, just as he landed on the ocean currents. Then he looks up and waves at them.
"Hey, he made it!" Launchpad said, then he looks at Donald and adds, "Now, let's get you back to your ship."
The race was on as Tyler kept the time after he asked Donald what time he had to return to the ship as he and Launchpad were looking for the ship. He looks at his watch and says, "Hurry, we only got two minutes left!"
Donald rows faster while saying, "I'm gonna be late! I'm gonna be late!"
Launchpad manages to find the ship as he points and says, "Here's your ship. Faster, faster."
Donald rowed faster than ever before as they were getting closer while Tyler counted down, "13...12...11…"
The plane's wings became like that of a dragonfly as it kept its descent towards the ship.
"10...9...8…"
Sailors quickly got out of the way as the plane kept going.
"7...6...5...4…"
The plane was caught by a cable by its beak, yet it was still flying.
"3...2...1!"
On que, Launchpad said, "Donald, quit rowin'!"
As the wings stopped moving by Donald's rowing, the plane was slingshot back to the ship as Tyler yelped slightly while the plane crashed once again.
Launchpad was the first to step out of the smoking plane, then Donald with Launchpad helping him while he was panting and saying, "I'm back, sir."
"Don't you usually salute a superior officer, Duck?"
"Ease up, Lieutenant," Launchpad said to him. "Can't you see he just flew in from the Andes?"
"And, boy, are my arms tired." Donald said as he wobbly tried to lift his arms but couldn't, then he collapsed on his front from exhaustion.
The Lieutenant heard someone groan as something was inside the plane. It slouched over while it had some helmet on its head, when it lifted up...he jumped back while screaming slightly as he pointed at it and said, "What is that thing?!"
"Calm down," Launchpad said. "He's harmless and he's with us." He motioned his hand to the boy and introduced him. "This is Tyler Johnson, a friend." He goes over to him, bends down and asks, "You okay, kid?"
Tyler takes off the helmet while rubbing the back of his head, after literally getting flung without a seat and getting the back of his hit. Despite the helmet protecting his head, that didn't stop the pain as he said while groaning again, "Does anyone have any Aspirin and a bag of ice? My head hurts."
The Lieutenant had an odd but confused look as he looked at Launchpad, but the pilot only gave him a shrug of the shoulders.
So ends part 2 of The Treasure of the Golden Suns. Join me next time as things are going to get pretty cold for our characters.
