Author's Note: HELLO FOLKS! Z-King here with another songfic and like last week's upload this one is for the UF 5th Anniversary.

This week's theme is Gems, using any of the Gem characters. For this I'm using the Crystal Falls version of Rose Quartz. (For more info on the Crystal Falls AU, check Minijeen's tumbler page.)

The story focuses on what I think would be that worlds version of I am my mom or a version like it anyway, and having Rose in a crisis of her own.

The song comes from one of the greatest Musicals, Les Miserables.

Who Am I.

Rose roared in anger after tossing the messenger Robonoid in the house. Thankfully she was the only one in the house right now.

Hello starlight, no doubt it is you I'm talking to right. Rose glared at the broken robot playing White Diamond's message again despite the damage to it.

Anyway, I've sent this little gadget to inform you that Yellow, has just send her Topaz along with Blue's Aquamarine to look for your…son. Though the image of White was smiling her usual smile, Rose knew White was hiding a look of disgust.

Now there is no doubt that they will find him. They are one of the best after all. More so than that Jasper we send two months ago.

I believe Yellow gave them an order to him along with your friends to their doom, unless a Diamond gave them an order to stop.

White gave a wicked grin as the image started to fade. Too bad all three of us are here. Isn't it?

The message ended as did the Robonoid once and for all.

Rose grabbed her shoulders while she sat on the couch. She knew what White wanted, she wanted her to show herself. Her real self to everyone.

Rose knew that sooner or later that they might try something like this, but she hoped and wished that it wouldn't come to pass.

Rose Quartz: After so many years, of course they wait till now.

I will not play their game, for this I won't allow.

Rose stood up and grabbed her sword from the wall and glared out the door.

Rose Quartz: She says those two are strong. Well I'll fight them as I am!

She ran to the door but stopped herself before she could turn the handle as her look of rage changed to worry.

Rose Quartz: But those who are loyal, they'll fight with all they can.

Rose squeezed the knob and tightened her grip on her sword, thinking of her son and his friends as well as hers.

Rose Quartz: If I go, I am condemned.

If I do nothing, I am damned.

Rose turned her gaze towards the town and thinking of all the Gems living there, both comrades in war and innocents, and recalls not just the good she and the rest have done but also the good that her son, Steven has done all based on her guidance.

Rose Quartz: From my teachings my son has learned to fight for the free.

But what would he think, what would he do, if he sees the real me?

Rose drops her sword and almost breaks the doorknob.

Rose Quartz: If I go, I am condemned.

If I do nothing, I am damned.

She pulled her hair in frustration, trying to quell the raging thoughts in her head, trying to tell her what to do.

Normally she would have her closest friends to guide her on such choices, like Pearl, Garent….Greg….

Rose let out a sad sigh, she glanced down a shard of the Robonoide showing her reflection…no her disguises reflection.

Rose Quartz: Who am I?

Can I condemn my son to fight my tragedies?

Pretend I do not feel is agony?

Tears started falling as images of her and Greg holding Steven when he was just an infant, then changed to watching him train by Pearl with Mabel and Lapis.

Rose Quartz: My son whom I keep in my embrace, who goes to fight in my place.

Who am I?

Rose rested her hand on her gem while in thought.

Rose Quartz: Can I conceal myself for evermore?

Pretend I'm not the gem I was before?

And must my name until I die be no more than alibi

Must I lie?

How can I ever face my friends again?

How can I ever face my son again?

Rose frowned when the image of the Diamonds entered her mind. It almost made her crack her own gem till she glanced at Greg's portrait on the wall.

Rose Quartz: I was like them so long ago, till he showed me the path I know.

He showed me more then I was told.

He gave me warmth to fight the cold.

Her eyes glowed bright pink as she went back to the door, grabbed her sword and walked out the door.

She gave one last look at the town and back at the temple then she looked out onto the world.

Rose Quartz: Who am I?

Who am I?

I am Rose Quartz.

Meanwhile in the woods, Steven was fighting hard against both Topaz and Aquamarine, Lapis was close to being poofed if it wasn't for the team of Mabel and Dipper backing her up.

While Steven looked to his friends he looked back at his foes just as Topaz was about to punch him only for her to slam right into her comrade by a pink blur.

Steven blinked, seeing that the blur was his mother, he was about to stand by her side but she turned and placed her sword in his hand.

He wanted to ask why she did that but paused when she gave him a sad caring smile then her expression turned cold when she looked at two enemy gems ready to fight her.

Rose Quartz: Now listen well and understand, so you will heed to my command.

Steven, his friends as well as Topaz and Aquamarine looked at Rose oddly then backed away as she started glowing and growing.

Rose Quartz: Who am I?

Pearl, Amethyst, Stan, Ford, and Garnet arrived to see the transformation themselves, and Pearl gasped knowing full well what Rose was doing, as all could see the gem shift.

From what seemed to be a quartz was in fact a diamond.

Diamond!

Author's notes: Well this took a challenge to rewrite the lyrics. Hope I did a good job on this, pretty much a last minute job. No doubt some of you could tell.

But I think I did a good job, what do you think?
