Chapter 7: And Straight On 'Til Morning Season 2 Episode 2

There's not enough power to shut down the torrent of magic that fluctuates around the diamond. Regina knows this for certain but realizes that Emma does not.

That Emma isn't capable of knowing the true extent of how badly this was about to unfold.

Their magic is still refusing to merge due to whatever restraints Emma has in her heart.

They should be able to stop self-destruction.

What they have with one another could build worlds, tear armies apart and break the most steadfast curse.

Regina had known what they possessed the moment their intertwined magics got them through the barriers of her Mausoleum. To enter those stone walls without her permission and magical involvement would require one to destroy, but she had been in no condition to allow them through. And no matter how skilled Emma was and how well she took to magic, the barriers had not been penetrated, broken or demolished.

It had just allowed them through because their essence was more potent than anything else in the world.

But Emma was a fickle believer and rarely one to trust. Surely the furthest thing from her mind at this moment was their complicated relationship. There's not enough time to explain so Regina allows one hand to center the bomb while she weaves a teleportation spell in the other.

She would've given her heart for her mother, been content to live life in bleak and clear logic.

She would give even more for Emma.

So she does.

I've been cautioned by my wondrous beta Luthor that I should probably leave a warning on this ficlet but sometimes life just hits you and leaves you staggering, confused and barely breathing.
