Chapter 5 - The Vipers Challenge

Two weeks later at team 12 training ground. The three genin stood with firm looks but ever so slightly shaky stances "This dumb plan better work Mari" Kasai proclaimed worriedly.

"If it doesn't then we can at least have some fun with some D-ranks right." Mari inquired to her teammates. Her response was two glaring looks from said teammates.

"You kids ready to get your ass kicked" Anko smugly announced, appearing into the training ground.

"The only one who's ass is being kicked is your sensei" Hana snapped at Anko pulling her mask up onto her nose. "You two ready?" she looked at Mari and Kasai. The response was two affirmative nods.

"Just a reminder if you take one bell you pass if you take both bells I will give you brats a reward. On the other hand, we do D-ranks and you get no money" with her explanation over Anko announced, "Begin!"

"Not going easy on you sensei" Mari yelled running forward as she made a hand sign and pulled her massive sword from the seal on her underarm. She jumped into the air and her sword burst into flames. Anko dodged to the side as the flaming sword impacted the ground. The explosion from both the fire and the force of the swing took Anko by shock ever so slightly.

Anko while dodging the strike from Mari heard "Wind Release: Gale Palm Shuriken'' looking over at three shurikens coming at her with high speed. She quickly formed a hand sign and called out "Striking Shadow Snake Jutsu'' her arm morphed into two snakes and although got cut up they deflected the shuriken. However a scream of "Lightning Release: Violet Bolt" made the jonin go pale as Hana rushed towards Anko and lunged forward. The Violet Bolt went through the abdomen of the jonin, only for her to burst into a pile of snakes that Hana easily burst through in turn.

Anko appears 40 feet away breathing heavily for a few moments "That was good brats but nowhere near good enough to take me out" Anko cracks her neck before running through several hand signs in quick succession before placing a hand on the ground and smirking. "Summoning Jutsu: Giant Snake!" In a giant puff of smoke, a snake at least three stories tall appeared underneath the Jonin. The three genin stood in awe at the summon 'I need me one of those' almost all of them thought at the same time.

"This feels a bit above our pay grade Anko-sensei" Kasai proclaimed while taking a few steps back. In response, the giant snake hissed and began to coil up.

"Separate" Mari screamed out shortly before each of the gennin jumped away with Mari jumping over the snake's head to try and strike Anko with her sword. Anko leapt over the sideswipe and kicked Mari in the face causing her to land on the snake's nostrils. The giant snake flipped Mari into the air and opened it's jaw wide.

Mari yelled out "Fire Release: Fireball Jutsu" the ball of fire blazed through the air exploding in the snake's mouth causing it to burn and shake its head allowing Mari to land on it safely. Anko rushed forward to strike Mari with a kick but it was blocked by the flat of the blade. Mari smiled and with raw strength forced Anko into the air before the sword once again burst into flames. Mari leapt into the air and with a spin struck the airborne jonin the resulting explosion forcing them both apart with Mari hitting the dirt with a loud thud and crack.

Mari yelled out in pain "Argh my wrist". The other genin burst out of the woods to her left with concerned looks on their faces.

"Mari, are you able to continue," they asked in unison. The giant snake looming over the three after recovering from the explosion in its mouth.

"I am, let's put this snake down and get those fucking bells" Mari enragingly declared. She stood back up pushing against her sword in her good hand. "I have a plan" she continued glaring proverbial holes into the snake.

"Another one the last has been going great so far" Kasai retorted.

"It's not over yet, and I still think both are gonna work like a charm," Mari says before quickly and quietly explaining her plan to the two.

"This is soo dumb." Hana worriedly exclaimed.

"I actually like this one more," Kasai announced

"Of course you would," Hana muttered

"Let's go" Mari shouted

"Fire Release: Fireball Jutsu" Mari and Kasai yelled in unison as two giant balls of flame struck the snake burning its scales and flesh. In some places, the burns went incredibly deep into the summon.

Mari gripped the sword with both hands and with gritted teeth prepared to launch her teammates as they leapt at her with a spin. The two other genin landed on the flat of her blade and with immense force, she swung it, as they leapt off springboarding the two genin at the snake.

Mid-air the two spun around as Kasai launched Hana at the snake even quicker. Hana made the hand signs as she went past the snake and yelled out "Lightning Release: Violet Bolt" she drove her hand into the side of the snake's neck splitting it open. Causing it ye screech out in pain. This was swiftly followed up by "Scorch Release: Brilliant Palm Strike" being yelled out by Kasai. His right hand began to glow a white-hot as he plunged it into the snake's abdomen bursting through it causing it to burst into smoke.

"Impressive brats" Anko proclaimed appearing next to Kasai wracking him with a punch to the gut dropping him to the ground. Anko nimbly dodges to the side as Mari's flaming sword passes by her, still licking her with embers of its flames.

Mari leaps on the Jonin with a haymaker with her good hand striking her in the face dropping her to the ground. Mari rolled through before attempting to go for the bells. She however was kicked in the gut and her guard went up but her broken wrist got grabbed and Anko began to twist causing the genin to fall to her knees in agony.

Anko sadistically grinned "Nice try but I think this is over" she maliciously proclaimed.

"No, not until we win" Mari weakly protested. The remark caused Anko to squeeze tighter on the broken wrist lifting her genin by it before kicking her away. At this Hana rushed forward before being grabbed by the neck by Anko. Kasai also lunged at her with a kunai in hand but was disarmed and had his knee dislocated.

"Once more brats. You did great. I honestly didn't expect you to even get this far but give up, do your week of D-ranks and move on" Anko proclaimed with a hint of pride directed at her students.

"Thanks, sensei that means a lot" Kasai yelped.

"But you are gonna be really proud when we take those bells off you" Hana garbled in continuation.

Anko in frustration threw Hana to the ground before moving to stomp the white-haired genin into the dirt. Just as her foot connected with Kasai he yelled out "Release" causing him to explode in a gout of flame. Anko, now even more burnt by flames, jumped back.

However, in mid-air, Hana leapt at her. Anko with quick brutal reflexes punched her other genin in the throat. This however caused her to explode in electricity. This zapped and stunned Anko.

Just as it went off from the same woods the now revealed clones came from a yell of "Wind Release: Gale Palm" and "Lightning Release: Violet Bolt could be heard. Rocketing out of the woods came Hana purple lightning surrounding her right hand as she flew towards the jonin. Anko barely avoided the strike hitting her right in the chest however it did slice the bells right off the hip where she had them. Anko reached out and grabbed at them as this happened the two shinobi blew apart.

Anko landed and rolled across the ground for several meters. She came to a stop just short of the stream. She looked down, opening her right and seeing only one bell in her grasp. "Really fucking impressing brats!"

Hana landed against a tree with such force it cracked. She landed to the ground and opened her left hand to see a bell held within. She smiled before passing out.
