I thank everyone for their support and hope this update isn't too late. I did a short one as I'm still thinking of where I want to go with this, so please be patient]

The moonlight reflected upon the ground revealing three figures in front of a mirror seemingly made of malice. A tall woman with red hair looked sadly at the two who seemed to be on guard in front of her. "Link...it's me..don't you remember?", her voice seemingly strained as she began to realize what was going on.

Link had adjusted himself and began to slowly walk up to her, "I do not...but memory loss is not a new thing for me", he tried to smile while keeping his guard up in case this woman was hostile, "I thought I had regained most if not all of my memories. Apparently not..who are you?" Zelda slowly stood up as she felt the energy of the malice from the mirror reminding her of all the time she spent trapped with Calamity Ganon. This energy instilled a deep fear in her as she could hardly move.

Midna sighed and shook her head, "I believe I was too late my hero…", she paused looking at him, how different yet similar he looked to her Link.

"My name is Midna we were quite close a long time ago", she said softly looking down as she began to grasp what truly has happened, "Seems as fate was not on my side", she laughed and sat down in the grass feeling it in her hands.

Link stared at her as she laughed gently, "Midna?...I remember a fragment...I believe it's when you...left?..", he said puzzled trying to piece as much information as he could from his memory, "When you left". He sat down next to her feeling a warm familiar sense to her.

Midna chuckled her eyes a bit saddened, "Yes...looking around...that was ancient history compared to now".

Link felt as though he should console her, he didn't understand what urged this feeling but he smiled, "This might sound a bit odd. But I feel like you're familiar but I don't know why maybe if we continue to talk my memory will go back...maybe a place we went to will restore my memory? That's helped in the past", he said shuddering as he remembered all the odd locations he had to visit to remember the champions and even the princess.

Midna shook her head, "I don't think we have time for that. The magic I used to get here is quite unstable. I must go back before it's too late. As I just wanted to convey a truth I had wanted to get off my chest for a while...but it seems like that's impossible", she began to get up as Zelda flinched feeling the malice pulsate causing the light around them to grow red as it began to crack.

Hands seemed to grab out of it Zelda screamed causing Link to jump up and draw his sword, gasping in pain as he got between the mirror and the other two, "Stand back!", he shouted his eyes were sharp.

Midna looked at the hero and saw a reflection of her hero, her Link in his gaze. It made her smile gently as she remembered the time that they had shared. This moment was shortly lived as she realized that the gate she had made was starting to rupture.

The gate began to crack further, massive lights began to hover above the mirror. After pulsating in the energy of malice they shot off across the land. Zelda began to cry feeling the dread she had when she was with Calamity Ganon.

Link readied his sword shaking slightly clutching one hand to his side as the pain began to feel worse as the mirror crumbled into dust. Midna shouted with a hand outstretched towards the mirror feeling despair about her only way home being destroyed.

"W-wait...I should've had more time!", she yelled out to the empty plain where the mirror had been, she fell to her knees, "Why hasn't anything gone the way…", a tear fell down her face.

Link watched the lights fall as he knew that Hyrule was in danger again. Zelda confirmed this as she ran to him burying his face into his tunic, "Link! Those things...they're calamities..all of them!", she trembled.

Link plunged the Master Sword into the ground and turned slightly putting a hand on Zelda's head as he knew how much the time she had spent trapped had affected her, "It'll be okay Zelda...we'll take care of them...just like with Ganon, and just like anything else that got in our way", he looked at Midna on the ground, "Midna…"

She looked up, her eyes showed how hopeless she felt in that moment, how trapped and defeated she was. Link nodded his head slightly and looked up at the now clear sky, "We need to take care of whatever came out of that thing you came here with, but then we'll get you back where you came from.", he smiled at her, something that surprisingly made her feel more at ease. If her Link could restore balance like they had then maybe this one could do it too, "Zelda is the brightest mind in the kingdom and with some Sheikah technology I'm sure there's nothing the princess couldn't do".

Midna got up and smiled slightly wiping the tears from her face looking at the hero holding his princess protectively. She didn't know what journey lay before them but she felt that possibly she was going to be okay.
