Chapter 5, Alma.

Alma told the children to go inside while she let Savannah in the front door but was confused why Savannah kept a distance between them, so Savannah saw her confused look.

"I don't like smoking," Savannah said to Alma. Alma put her pipe down and took her into the parlor. She saw that Savannah looked tired. Alma directed Savannah to the couch where Savannah laid down. Savannah fell asleep. Alma stayed with her waiting for Jake to come.

Jake, Emma, Olive, and Millard came to the house and walked up to the door. Alma opened it and looked at Emma and the other two.

"Right on time, Miss Peregrine delighted to meet you," Alma said to Jake, holding out her hand for Jake to shake, which he did.

"I do hope I'm not going to have the pub landlord knocking on my door with the police again. I've had to kill them twice this month," Alma said to her children. Emma looked at the other two and then to Miss Peregrine.

"Millard broke a few things, Olive started a little fire, but they were going to hurt Jake," Emma said, pushing Millard inside with Olive following them. Alma walked into the parlor to see Savannah waking up, then led Savannah and Jake into the kitchen where Olive was heating the tea. When it finished boiling, she put it in the three cups.

Enoch came down down the stairs then walked back up the stairs with Olive following after him. Alma looked at both Savannah and Jake.

"I'm sorry for your loss, Jake and Savannah," Alma said, looking at the siblings.

"So you know then?" Jake asked, looking at Miss Peregrine.

"I know if Abe were alive, he would have told me you both were coming," Alma said, handing Jake and Savannah their cups of tea. They walked outside, but by the time they got outside, Savannah felt nauseous. She gave her cup to Jake before running off to a nearby bush. Jake and Alma watched her run off then heard her throwing up. Alma looked at Jake.

"Is she alright?" Alma asked him. Jake looked at her and nodded his head.

"She is pregnant when she found out her boyfriend left her," Jake replied, looking at Alma, who was looking at him, shocked. They saw Savannah coming back, wiping her mouth on her jacket sleeve.
