The Xian Offensive

Hanabi, Kasai, and Hana continue to run down the bloodstained and broken dirt valley roads as they pass bombed-out former battle lines still with some half-eaten bodies laying on the ground. Birds of prey circle above waiting for a next meal to become available.

"So Hanabi where are we?" Hana asks in a cold tone as she attempts to detach herself from the horrid sights she sees around her.

"This is the Xian Vally it's one of three key strategic points between the North and south of the Land of Tea" Hanabi starts "We are trying to push south and the rouge ninja hold the valley so we have to push through and they are fighting us every step of the way"

"Right, well now we are here we can push through right?" Kasai asks rhetorically with a big grin across his face, clearly trying to lighten the mood. "So Hanabi how have you been since the academy?" he moves on.

"Well it's been alright, pretty good honestly, other than last year when I got kidnaped by a psychopath who lives on the moon and had my eyes ripped out, and I almost died two weeks ago to a crazy lady with snake powers." Hanabi vents to the other gennin with a mix of sadness and frustration in her voice.

With this, the three shinobi quieted down, and generally, a somber mood took over them. Shortly after, they arrived back the crossroads that leads up to the valley mountainside, when they receive a telepathic message from an operator at the main base "Hanabi and her squad, we get a read on your position and move into the valley left side as several chunin teams have taken up in a trench and are injured. They immediately require relief so a medic team can get in."

"Acknowledged HQ we are on route immediately" Hanabi confirms. "Let's go you two, full speed," she says looking back at the two genin with a steely and determined look.

The three shinobi quickly rush off at high speed. They follow the road as the landscape becomes more and more ash-like with the prolonged battle taken place in this area. After maybe a minute or two of going at this speed, the three shinobi see a trench line with combatants still inside.

Hana seeing this rushes ahead quickly out speeding both of them as small crackles of purple lightning surround her "Does she know body flicker?" Hanabi asks Kasai in a confounded tone.

"Nope, I think he might have just gotten really fast" Kasai answers in a similarly confused but impressed tone.

Hana her eyes once more faintly glowing purple rushes towards the combat as she sees a young boy and girl no more than three or four years her elder fighting off several shinobi and samurai all clad in black battle gear. The boy has dark brown spiked hair and is in a green battle suit with a black collar. Meanwhile, the girl has a purple and gray suit on and her strawberry blonde hair in straight twin tails.

The boy is fighting some shinobi in melee and seems to be just about holding off his opponents but is still on the defense however the girl is using earth style in an attempt to hold off her assailants but it isn't working. A mud wall bursts up in between her and two samurai but together they slice through the earth jutsu. Another shinobi leaps into the air with electricity surrounding a katana he is wielding as he reais to strike down at the girl.

Hana intercepts the air-born shinobi with a kick to the side of the head, the impact sending the man several feet and onto his back. One of the samurai goes to slash at her but block with her tanto as she lands using the momentum to slip under his swing and with the opening thrust her blade up into the samurai's throat. The other samurai gets behind the blonde girl and stabs her in the back causing her to scream out in pain. As he pulls the blade out she falls back into the trench but as she does she screams out "Earth Release: Bedrock Coffin." She makes the hand signs and then brings her hands together, following her hands slamming together two large body-sized rocks rip from the ground and crush the samurai in between them with a sickening spat noise.

The shinobi Hana kicked stands up and is joined by ten more of his comrades. The young boy jumps back given the opening as Hanabi and Kasai arrive at the battle. "Names Komohamaru, nice to meet you two," he says looking at Hana and Kasai. "You guys think you can take three each, I've been fighting all day and I'm at about half chakra."

"You sure you don't just want us to do to all the work." Hanabi quickly retorts.

Hana breaks the quippy remarks as she casually throws two kunai at the rouge shinobi she attacked earlier. The kunai fly towards him at high speeds, as they get close to the man they intercepted by a lazy slash from a katana. Holding the weapon is a bronze skinned man with slicked-back blonde hair. He starts to walk forward as electricity engulfs him.

His walk turns into a full-blown sprint as he charges towards Hana, his speed increases to that of lightning as he closes the distance in a matter of seconds. Going at this speed a wide and powerful attack would be more than enough to deal with a little girl like Hana, or so he thought. Hana seeing this has her eyes begin to glow brighter, takes a kunai in her left hand and her tanto, with a reverse grip in her right. Just as the man gets into striking range she steps into his guard, by doing so she takes him off balance and causing his swing to be in an arc too wide. As she positions herself within his defenses she lifts her kunai up and moves her tanto to further block his blade. The man's momentum forces him forward and his throat right onto Hana's kunai.

The electricity around the man stops as he falls to the ground with the kunai through his neck. Hana stands above him her eyes glowing a menacing purple color that contrasts with a smattering of the man's blood on her face. With a rush of speed that none but Hanabi with her Byakugan active could even see Hana charges at the other two rogue shinobi against her, with her tanto still in a reverse grip she blitzes past the first one as she slashes up slicing his throat in the process. Then following the momentum of the first attack she leaps into the air and spins around going for a downwards slash against the final shinobi, the same one she kicked in the face as she arrived.

Her downward slash is barely blocked by the rogue as he brings up a kunai to save himself. He forces her back into the air using his might, as she is once again air-born she switches to a normal grip and reinforces her grip with both hands and resting the flat of the blade against her arm to stabilize her next attack. She does this mid-air because as soon as she backflip end as her feet begin to touch the ground she once again rushes at the man like a coiled snake. This time she is too fast for him to react, she drives her blade into his chest and then to the ground killing him almost instantly.

Hanabi seeing this cracks her neck and looks at the three rouges facing against her. Getting into a battle stance she gestures for them to attack. The three look at each other and charge in unison. As the three charge her she quickly intercepts them and goes past them. The three men and Hanabi go on for a couple more meters after they pass each other. Hanabi in a fighting stance with her hands in a claw-like pose smirks and clicks her fingers. As she does the three men all suddenly feel the impact of her attacks. They in unison cough blood and fall to the ground their chests concaved. Hanabi glances towards the seething Hana who begins to emit an intense bloodlust. In response, she prepares to stop Hana if she loses control.

Konohamaru and Kasai don't seem to notice this unfolding as they are fighting back to back against five rouges. "Names Kasai by the way," he says with a large grin strung across his face. Quickly after he grabs a fist that was aimed at his head, he leaps over the rouge and leverages his arm over his head and plants his feet on the back of his head and slams his head into the ground knocking him out cold.

Konohamaru looks at him and says "nice" as he spins around an attack from another rogue landing an elbow to the back of his head dropping him to one knee. Konohamru quickly follows this up with a bicycle kick to the chin of another rouge.

Kasai leaps into the air and pulls out several shuriken before shouting "Fire Release: Flame Shuriken" Kasai aims his jutsu at three rouges including the one kicked back by Konohamaru. One of the rouges manages to block and dodge the jutsu while the one kicked in his head had a flaming shuriken plunge into his eye and the third blocks one but two more pierce into his chest causing him to fall dead.

The one who dodges and blocked grabs his comrade that was on one knee after Konohamaru's attack and leaps away. The two rogues look at each other and begin to weave the hand signs for a fireball jutsu. Kasai and Konohamaru look at each other "I'll deal with the attack just be prepared to counter-attack after alright?" Kasai states as he does Konohamaru gets ready and opens his right hand and gripping his wrist to steady it with his left.

Kasai quickly makes several hand signs and places his hands to the ground "Wind Release: Air Wall" quickly he gets back up and makes more hand signs and takes a big breath in. The two rogues smirk as an air wall jutsu will do little but grow their fireball making this even easier, at least they did think that but when their fireballs that all but merged into one where around three meters from the air wall Kasai yells out "Fire Release: Fireball Jutsu." The fireball bursts to life almost inside the air wall, this expands the fire jutsu by severalfold just as it clashes with that of the rogues. The fire jutsu clash for several moments before exploding with enough force to knock almost everyone off balance even as far as Hana who snaps out of the bloodlust because of it.

The two rogues stumble back as the wave of force from the explosion hits them. Flames coat the ashen area in an orange hue. The two rogues help each other on to their feet just as they hear "Odama Rasengan" being roared out from the other side of a wall of flames that quickly part as a giant ball of swirling blue energy is slammed into the two rouges. The force of the attack crushes and cracks the ground underneath killing the rouges as they are crushed between the Rasengans force and the ground beneath them. The Rasengan dissipates showing the four Konoha shinobi victorious and with a captive to be interrogated later back at base. Little do they know this is but the start of the battles they will fight through this day and those to come will be an even greater challenge.
