Chapter 19 - A Beasts Vengeance part 1

The town and base of Xiafu rest nestled just above the Xian Valley, a tower stands tall over the large town and a stone wall protects it from conventional attacks. The orange evening sun begins to fall on the horizon its warm and peaceful glow illuminates Xiafu and the valley of Xian. This peaceful atmosphere is contrasted by a man in his late thirties bloodied and beaten crawling away from an unknown attacker.

The man crawls along a cliff using his remaining arm to pull himself to its edge, a trail of blood leading to him as he looks out to the town and sees what he knows to be his last sunset. As he looks and basks in the orange glow of his last vision and either because of its beauty or the loss of blood he feels a serene wave wash over him. The man smiles at the sunset oblivious to the heavy steps behind him, as he takes in what he feels to be his last breath a tear rolls down his cheek before his head is stomped into the cliffside.

Rai Narasu stood over the mangled body of the shinobi he just killed and looed out at the same sunset with a far darker grin and desire. He takes a heavy sniff of the air taking it deep into his lungs. "This is going to be fun," he declares with a sinister glint in his eyes.

Rai walks casually to the gate where two leaf ninja stop him, the first with curly brown hair walks forward while the second draws a katana, "Stop and identify yourself, traveler," the first man says.

Rai glances between them and three more shinobi watching from the wall, "I, I am your salvation, I came to show you your path to peace." This causes the men to glance between one another in confusion.

This moment is almost immediately broken by a bursting sound and then a large amount of blood spraying the ground and the town's gate. The men all look back to see Rai sliding his hand and forearm out of the first man's chest. The second man rushes forward and swings at Rai but the large man slipped past the blade and pushes on the handle while grabbing it in his right hand. With the man's blade Rai spins past him in a fluid motion with the previous and takes the second guard's head off with his own weapon. Just as the three men on the wall are about to announce the attack Rai appears next to them and cuts two down before throwing the Katana at the third.

He quickly jumps from the wall and walks to the town center as inconspicuous as he can. As he walks just under his breath he counts down waiting, just as he gets to one he arrives at the market square in the town's center and a warning bell goes off. This causes Rai to smile at how precise this has gone down so far but his eyes betray that he hopes that something goes wrong and he gets the challenge he so desperately wants. As these thoughts cross his mind over a dozen ninja arrive and surround him, as they do so and more arrive Rai enters his bear sage mode and begins making hand seals.

The shinobi leap at him to stop whatever he is planning but he finishes making the Ram seal and placing a hand on the ground just as the shinobi are over him ready to strike down. With a malicious grin says "Sage Art: Great Earth Cataclysm." As these words are uttered the ground under the entire town around Rai erupts in large stone pillars that reach into the sky. The shinobi attacking Rai and killed and most turned to a blood mist by the impact of the stone pillars slamming into them and then one another almost instantly tearing them apart.

Moments earlier in Xiafu tower the four younger shinobi stretch and relax somewhat as an end to the day approaches and the night guards will take over soon. 'I honestly might start missing fighting that monster sage guy if this boring guard duty keeps up' Kasai thinks while stretching his back with a popping sound. Hanabi, Konohamaru seems to notice something is off while Lord Kazaki's hand moves down to his katana hilt.

A moment later the bell begins to toll alerting that an attack is happening, Kasai, Hana, Hanabi, and Konohamaru rush to protect Lord Kazaki but as they get to his throne a shattering sound comes from around them as pillars of stone crash through the tower on all sides ready to crush them. Before any of the shinobi could react, Kazaki appeared in front of them his blade drawn. The four look around to see that the pillar's momentum has stopped the closest mear inches away from the shinobi, a flash quickly goes off as the pillars tearing through the top of the tower are shredded.

Kazaki now stands a tall and determined warrior as he looks back at Hanabi "Use the Byakugan to check for survivors and who has done this!"

In response to his commanding tone, Hanabi activates the Byakugan and looks around, what she sees brings a horrified look to her face. This look gives Kazaki all the information he could want and this knowledge brings a tear to his eye and then fury to his heart. "Where!" Hanabi points to the center of the town as that is the only source of life or chakra left. Kazaki nods and before any of them could protest he disappears at a speed only Hanabi who is currently using her Byakugan can perceive.

Kazaki charges down one of the half-destroyed pillars before jumping to an intact one that leads to the center. As he is charging toward Rai the large man meets him partway with Rai who took a blade dropped by one of the now-dead shinobi as they got pasted receiving several wounds before he could react.

Rai standing on the side of the pillar drops to one knee, Kazaki walks over to Rai shaking his head. "This is all you came at me with, well you succeeded, in pissing me off," Kazaki says with cold fury as he raises his sword.

"I succeeded in more than that," Rai responds, spinning around to strike Kazaki but only managing to block his blade at the cost of shattering his own. Rai quickly pushes away to gain distance. Rai now snarls at Kazaki, his wounds healing as they are once more facing-off.

Kazaki charges forward but is met by a kick from Rai who then brings the foot down driving his heel into the stone pillar. Rai leaps up and backward as Kazaki regains his footing, Rai grabs the end of the two-meter thick pillar and swings landing on the crumbling tower. Using this momentum he yanks the pillar in two fifty-meter pieces, resting the piece he has on his shoulder and the tower next to him further destabilizing it.

Kazaki charges up the remaining half of the pillar and leaps toward Rai, he channels chakra into his sword coating it in a wave of blue energy. Rai in response smiles and with a tremendous force he throws the pillar as it were javelin at the mid-air Kazaki. The experienced samurai channels more chakra into his sword and meets the oncoming pillar beginning to cut through it. As his blade is about to reach the end and sever the pillar in two Rai leaps from the tower and kicks both the pillar and Kazaki's face sending both to the ground at incredibly high speeds.

Rai begins to fall fist ready to strike at the prone Kazaki below him, as he reaches a meer seven meters off the ground Hanabi rushes in from the side and uses rotation. Rais' fall and the subsequent impact on the rotation forces the technique to stop but more than triples the force of impact that Rai himself feels as he bounces along the ground.

As he barely manages to stop himself a flash of purple overtakes his vision and strikes him in the chest before then takes out his left ankle with a slash of an electrified blade. This assault is immediately followed up by a blue light appearing below him as a boy with brown hair slams a rotating ball of energy into his chest. The force of the attack sends him flying backward until he feels an intense heat from behind him, this heat is followed up by an immense impact into his back, stopping and reversing his motion sending him face-first into the ground.

Kasai shakes his hand as it stops glowing a white and orange as he bounces from one foot to the other as he gets into a boxing style fighting stance. "It looks like we already put you down big guy and we haven't even gotten started, give up and make it easy will you."

"You shits got stronger I will give you that, so how about we get serious," Rai says standing up his wounds healing at an even faster rate as the bear sage marking grow even more prominent as he gains another foot in height. As he stands he looks around with the eyes of a predator.

"We need to keep him off balance, and on the defense, we can't afford for him to attack us with that kind of power," Kazaki says, blood pouring down his face as he grabs his katana with a deeper fury.

He charges forward with Rai easily dodging and countering his blows with attacks even Hanabi doesn't think she could block regularly but the samurai barely manages. The four shinobi manage to jump in simultaneously attacking the bear sage, Hanabi manages to take the strength out of an attack intended for Kazaki. While the other three manage to hold off his counterattack against her. This opportunity is exactly what Kazaki needed as he moves forward striking up with his blade cutting deep into the sage, making him stumble backward and giving them the advantage in the battle.

Kasai begins to run to the side and up a pillar to get into position, Hana immediately activates the Raijingan and slashing multiple times at the large sage knocking him back even further. This is continued with Konohamaru who now wields a staff that seemingly appeared in his hands that he uses to strike and keep Rai off balance before he sweeps a leg and hits Rai with a Rasengan. This sends him once more flying back but he turns mid-air expecting Kasai and strikes out with a kick, however his kick meets air as the white-haired shinobi is nowhere to be seen, his leg however is hit with several blows causing him to kick into a pillar next to him. A blow then connects with his head slamming it into the same pillar, Hanabi then strikes Rai with over two hundred attacks to his chakra points and vital organs, before she does a backflip kicking him in the chest on the way. As she lands back on her feet she uses the air palm technique to knock Rai back into the tower.

Rai slams through the corner of the tower and into a pillar that cracks from the impact. He begins to rise once more rubbles pouring off him like water, he grits his teeth and growls, "is that it?"

Kazaki blood still leaking from his head wound appears in front of Rai, and grips his sword as their eyes lock. Rai once more swings at Kazaki with a haymaker, the wind pressure of the attack blows rubble out of the open holes in the first two floors of the tower. Kazaki however drops his knee and avoids the blow while in response he slashes deep into Rai's gut. After he cuts into him he spins around and pushes off the ground with his hands kicking Rai in the jaw sending him through the two floors above.

Once again as Rai stands up Kazaki keeps applying pressure as he slashes into Rai's shoulder and leg before he grabs the large man's head slamming it into the pillar running through the tower. With a flash of purple lightning, Rai is quickly dragged and slammed along the pillar and then bounced between pillars as several pillars come in and out of the tower. The momentum is quickly stoped as he is stuck uncountable times in the back before begging kicked back down several floors. The near paralyzed Rai just looks in shock as Konohamaru slams a wind-style Rasengan into his chest launching him all the way to the top of the tower.

Rai barely grabs onto the roof of the tower the orange light of the sun once more filling his vision, he proceeds to stand up battered and bruised. "Should've seen that you would be at the top this tower," Rai says as one of his ribs snaps back in place.

"Well it's either me or Konohamarau and I won rock, paper scissors at the end of last week to see who gets final hit on whoever we end up fighting," Kasai says with a smirk with arms glowing as white as his hair.

Rai spits out some blood and a tooth from his mouth, he once more goes for a haymaker that Kasai ducks the blow and responds with an uppercut that just takes Rai off his feet. Time almost slows down for Rai as he takes in the radiant orange sky and the distant mountains and oceans he can barely see from this hight. His vision is then taken up by Kasai who appears above him ready to land a haymaker strike of his own his fist still glowing a bright white and orange.

Kasai lets out a roar as he brings his fist down against Rai's face burning through to and then shattering the bones on the left side of the large man's face. The force of the impact then creates a shockwave sending Rai hurtling back to the ground through the tower and bringing down the building atop him in the process. Kasai lands next to the others and looks back as a giant dust cloud fills the air.

The dustcloud disperses revealing a different battlefield, in the center of a large courtyard that is scorched and broken is a giant crater that a broken water feature leaks into. At the bottom of the crater is the unconscious body of Rock Lee who is all but torn apart. A slow clapping rings out among the devastated landscape, each clap as a dark wet and metallic impact.

A mound of rubble collapses as Anko pushes out of it her body barely in a better condition that the near-dead Rock Lee, she looks up with blood overcoming her left eye, "We still won," she says with weak defiance.

"If this is a victory to you, I look forward to witnessing your defeat," a cold and bestial yet noble voice responds in a mocking tone. Anko is then kicked in the head by the man in her bloodied periphery her vision falling into black.
