When I woke up, I thought I was still dreaming when I saw I was in a wooden room. When I realised the floor I was lying on felt real and I was still breathing, that was when I knew I wasn't dreaming. Then I noticed I wasn't chained up, so I got up and went to the big bulk wooden door. To no surprise, I couldn't get it to open. I studied it and I couldn't find a hole at all, let alone a keyhole. That meant it couldn't have been locked up by a key. I thought it must have been locked up by a large wooden plank on the other side. So I decided to look around to find another way out of this room.
I looked and looked around this room, but I couldn't find a way out. There were no windows, no loose planks, no holes and not even a single tool or weapon for me to create a way out.
As I went to check a very dark corner only to discover that there was no way of escaping but instead just smelt of something really awful, I tripped over something. Or, judging by that groaning sound, someone. As I picked myself up and went out of the dark corner, I heard that groaning sound again and saw the figure was coming out. When the figure revealed himself, I was delighted to see who it was. "Benito!"
He looked like he had just woken up. He was still wearing his trousers and shoes, but he was shirtless. He was delighted when he saw me. "Mother!"
I hugged him and he hugged me back. I forgot how and why we were both in this room; I was just grateful he was alive and in one piece. He wasn't hurt at all.
"Where are we, Mother?" Benito asked.
"I don't know, Benito," I told him. "And I don't know why we are here."
"Auntie Chel? Benito?"
Benito and I turned to see approaching out of another dark corner of the room was Rika. She didn't look hurt, though her dress looked torn.
"Rika, are you okay?" I asked.
She just ran to me and hugged me. I returned the hug.
"I don't know why we're here, Auntie Chel," Rika said, as she looked at me. She looked very sad and worried. I couldn't blame her as what was going on was very confusing times.
"Well, the important thing is that you're safe and well, Rika," I said.
Then she hugged Benito and he hugged her back. They all told each other glad they were to see each other.
"Where are we?"
We turned to see someone coming out of the dark corner. It was Kasper. He looked like he was he had just woken up roughly and clothes looked torn, but he wasn't hurt. He didn't have any cuts or bruises on him.
"Kasper!" we all cried.
Benito was the first one to hug him, who hugged him back. Rika went to hug him, but he didn't hug her back. Instead, he just patted her on the head and said, "Glad to see you're okay, Rika."
Seeing how Rika was about to burst into tears because her brother didn't show her a lot of affection, I ignored the greeting he went to give me and I went to comfort her.
"As always," Kasper scoffed. "Give Rika the special attention."
Ever since I met him, I had tried to be patient with him and not lose my temper because of all he had been through, but now, even when we were trapped in this room and not knowing where we were going, the fact he couldn't swallow his pride for one second really made me cross. I hadn't forgotten that he was only six, but I couldn't tolerate his behaviour anymore. "What is your problem, Kasper?" I snapped. "Why don't you like your sister?"
"You're sounding even more like my mother than she does, Chel."
"Don't start!" I demanded. "Just answer my question!"
"You're no better than my family," Kasper snapped. "You're forcing answers from questions I don't want to answer." Then he sighed. "No one cares about me. Everyone just wants me to be the future King of Arendelle. Something I didn't ask for."
"I didn't ask for my powers, Kasper," Rika sobbed. "We all have things we didn't ask for."
"But everyone cuts you too much slack," Kasper said. "You have more freedom. You have more friends. Our family loves you more than they love me. And now even Chel and Benito likes you more than me. Everyone is too tough on me."
At least we were getting somewhere. He cared about what his family and friends said and thought about him. And my rumours about him feeling like he was trapped because he was the next heir of Arendelle were true.
"We still like you, Kasper," Benito said. "And we're asking about you because we care about you. Your family's trying to do the same. All we want is for you to tell us how you feel, like you're doing right now."
"I never had any real friends during my life," Kasper went on. "No one even at the Arendelle school wanted to be my friend and I don't know why. Benito, not only are you the first friend I've ever made in my life; it was the first choice I've ever made in my life and that's why I'm appreciating it more than anything right now. And that's why I even feel like you're the closest thing I have to a brother."
Neither I nor Benito knew what to say or think.
Then all of us heard a sound behind the door and then it opened up. We saw entering the room were some creatures resembled a lot like coconuts with arms and legs. They were followed by a tall figure that was covered by a long brown robe and hood.
"My humble apologises," the tall figure said. "You are not what we are after."
"Then may we leave, kind sir?" Rika asked.
"No," he said. "Just because you are not what we wanted does not mean we do not need you."
"Well, what is it you need us?" I demanded.
"These Kakamora pirates and I are after the Mortal Son of the Gods I serve," the figure said.
"How can we find him when they don't even know who he is?" Kasper demanded, marching to the hooded figure. He stopped when he saw the Kakamora pirates drew angry expressions on their faces, but he just scoffed. "Oh, those scary faces are going to stop me," he said sarcastically. When the pirates drew out their weapons, he still didn't take them seriously. Only when he got shot in the leg by a dart did he take it seriously. He fell down unconscious.
We tried to run to help him, but we stopped when the pirates aimed more dart pipes at us.
"Don't worry," the hooded figure said. "He will regain consciousness very soon… if you help us find the Mortal Son."
I felt that we had no choice but to surrender, so we did.
The hooded figure and his pirates took us, including the unconscious Kasper, on deck of his giant ship. We saw more pirates and monsters. They recognised them; they were the ones that recently attacked our island! Now, I knew why they attacked the island and Moana's island before. They were looking for this Mortal Son, wherever he could be.
Then the hooded figure had his pirates chained us up to the mast. "You are all to be the bait for the Mortal Son," the hooded figure told us. "The Monster Army of my gods strongly believe that you are friends of his and with you we will have a very high chance to find him or so they say. They had better be right or they will be punished." Then he turned to his pirate and monster armies. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let us go to find the Mortal Son and lure him to us."
The armies cheered as they went to work. The ship was soon sailing with speed.
Rika groaned.
"What's up, Rika?" I asked her.
"I'm trying to use my magic to break us free from the chains, but I can't," she said.
I saw her trying to grow some sort of veins out of her hands to break her chains, but they weren't strong enough. From the look of her face, I thought she was trying to grow stronger veins, but she couldn't.
"I'm sorry, Auntie Chel," Rika said.
"Don't worry, Rika," I told her. "You've tried your best. No one can do better than their best."
"What are we going to do, Mother?" Benito asked.
I didn't know what to do.
Then Kasper woke and groaned. "Where are we? Why are we chained up?"
I knew what to do now: explain everything that was going on to Kasper.
