I am so sorry for the very late chapter but I have had complete writer's block for the past two months. This is the biggest fight scene yet and was insanely hard to write for so hope you enjoy it. I will try to come back to regular uploads until the southern war arc is done. After that, I haven't fully decided yet but I am thinking of taking a break for a while and get maybe half an arc - a full arc ahead.

As I said not 100% on what the future shall bring but hope you enjoy the long time coming end to the three-parter before the climax of the arc.

Chapter 21 - A Beasts Vengeance part 3

Mari stands amidst the rubble of the destroyed pillars and town. "Who the hell are you," she demands, staring at the newly formed crater from her fireball.

Rai climbs out holding the left side of his face. "That's my line bitch."

Rai drops his hand revealing that his left eye is regrowing and his face's self reconstruction has slowed even further. Mari looks almost horrified by the sight and gags a little from the appearance. "Not sure if someone told you but ain't fucking pretty to look at."

Rai begins to shake in anger "You think this is funny, you think what your friends did to me was funny."

"No you're nightmare fuel for little kids, what I am gonna do to you will be hilarious, however," Mari responds, walking forward with a smug grin.

Rai now completely enraged charges at Mari, she however slips past a haymaker from the right, and knees Rai in the ribs. Then she plants the same foot on the ground, leans forward grabbing Rai's leg and doing a split kick striking the sage in his exposed side of the face. Mari pivots her standing foot, pulls Rai's leg, and follows her kick through stomping on his head before jumping back.

"Wow, this is easier than I thought," Mari says goading the downed sage once more.

Rai now stands with a fury and an uncontrollable need for vengeance in his eyes, he even faster charges at Mari he blocks and is still pushed back by the heavy strike. Rai then lets out an animalistic roar before continuing his assault. Rai now seems unable to land a blow as he swings with a wild fury and the girl in front of him dodges and redirects his attacks before responding with powerful blows of her own.

Hanabi still wounded and weakened looks on at the fight and is reminded of the battle she witnessed between Anko and Sasame, she uses the Byakugan to check the chakra left of Mari and Rai and is shocked to find that Mari has used less than ten percent of her chakra pool and has an amount of chakra equal to four times that of Rai even with sage mode, as this revelation is revealed to Hanabi as she looks on in shock.

Mari once more dodges a haymaker from Rai's good arm, Mari dodges to his exposed side and responds with a haymaker of her own that almost drops Rai to one knee but on his way down she catches him with a knee to the jaw cracking it in the process. The dazed Rai now back on his feet is bombarded with powerful body blows from Mari each one staggering him even further. After one final big body shot he begins to double over once more but Mari again leaps up with a knee to the face, now in the air she brings her second leg up and kicks out with both feet kicking Rai in the chest causing it to concave slightly and sends him flying backward.

Mari lands with a flip and looks over to the dazed and downed Rai, "Names Mari Senju by the way."

Mari walks over to Hanabi and knees by her side, away from the vomit and blood. Hanabi looks at her still pained and woozy, "That was incredible, how did you manage that?"

Mari gently pats her on the back, "You guys literally did all the work, not that he is finished I just needed the rundown before he gets back up."

"Well he is called Rai and he is a bear sage, we fought him a couple of times but this time he hasn't been messing around nearly as much as the first, and oh ye his sage mode gives him some kind of healing factor but doesn't increase his sensory capabilities as much as other sages," Hanabi says through pained words.

"Shit ok, I don't think I would be able to beat him alone even now. I need to fix you five up yesterday," Mari says, standing up rolling her shoulders, preparing for something. "Ok haven't done this before so here goes nothing."

She places her hands on the ground and the hole Kazaki is in opens up a bit more and she pulls the injured samurai lord out. Following this Mari bites her thumb and makes hand signs before firmly slams her hand on the ground causing black markings to appear and she yells, "Summoning Jutsu" A Giant cloud of smoke appears beneath her and quickly dispersed reeling a slug around the size of a building that Mari now stands atop of with Hanabi and the unconscious Lord Kazaki.

Hanabi looks puzzled before looking at Mari "You have the same summon as Lord 5th?"

Mari looks back with a smile "Well she is basically my mum, so yeah, although I did only sign the contract like a couple of hours ago." She then turns to Lady Katsuyu "Can you split off and start healing the wounded and see if any civilians or other shinobi have survived."

"Of course right away," Katsuyu responds

Mari takes Hanabi and leaps off the giant slug, "jump back in when you're ready alright."

"Ye I will, now go for it and kick that guy's ass," Hanabi says as a three-meter slug wraps around her.

Hanabi then turns to the slug that is attaching itself to Lord Kazaki, "Can you take the injured Lord away from the battle, we can't risk him getting injured."

"Quite wise miss Hanabi," Lady Katsuyu responds, before moving away with Lord Kazaki on her back.

Rai now somewhat back in fighting condition looks at the scene before him "That's the slug summon Lady Katsuyu right?"

"Correct bear sage," Mari responds walking towards him. "So you are ready for round two?"

Rai fully stands back up several bones popping back into potion as he does, "I haven't been more ready for anything brat."

With that, the two charges at each other Mari once again jumps up to gain more momentum for her strike while Rai goes for an uppercut. Both strikes land on the mark knocking both combatants back and sends Mari on her ass. Rai would take advantage but he is also recovering from the blow just dealt with him. However, by the time Mari is able to get onto her feet Rai now with a cooler head is rushing towards her, he faints a backhand that Mari goes to block but shoots his leg out for a kick into Mari's gut.

This kick once more knocks her back but not down however it gives the sage more openings to press his newly found advantage. He sweeps Mari's leg and drops her with an elbow that busts her nose. Now with his opponent downed Rai continues his merciless beatdown as he kicks and stomps on the girl. The grounded Mari struggles to put up a defense against the sage's onslaught.

Rai brings his leg up to finish with yet another stomp onto the girl's head, Mari grabs his foot stopping the strike but now has the sage putting greater and greater pressure upon her from above. The struggle reaches a near stalemate, Rai however is attacked from behind and knocked forward. Hanabi, still behind healed, launched an air palm right into Rai's back, breaking the struggle and giving Mari the advantage once more.

Mari on the ground makes a couple of hand signs and a bloom of dark smoke engulfs her and standing where she was are now four different Mari each one ready for a fight. Rai stands back up and looks to the four Mari rushing toward him "So there are four of you now, how fun," he mutters with a low growl.

The first Mari leaps into action with a leaping punch that Rai dodges but his dodge is met with an assault from the other three, the numbers and little use of his very slowly healing left arm allow them to keep the sage on the defense. Rai however upon a moment's separation from being knocked back by the barrage of the Mari's creates a mud wall to give himself a further second or two to prepare and he uses it wisely. As soon as the first Mari leaps over the wall Rai rushes her grabbing Mari by the skull and crushing it against the wall causing an explosion of fire, that the other three capitalize on by charging the now open bear sage.

The three fail to deal with any major damage to the sage but they do force him to defend with his weakened arm and cause minor damage to extenuate his existing injuries. Rai jumps back from a kick and makes several hand signs before placing his right hand on the ground and causing it to be encased in a stone fist. The three remaining Mari charge once more as Rai rushes to meet them.

Rai ducks a jumping kick from one before sidestepping a fire enhanced punch from a second, he uses the side step to increase his own momentum for a haymaker with the stone fist that strikes the third Mari with such force the wind pressure knocks the resulting explosion from the fire clone away from Rai. He turns back to the other two now both with fire engulfing their fists. "Two down, two to go, so let's find out which one of you is real shall we."

Both Mari look at each other then back at Rai before smugly stating "I am!"

Rai spit on the ground and re-engaged the remaining pair. The first one rushes him and throws a kick that is blocked by Rai's knee however before he can respond with his own attack the second Mari leapfrogs the first and knocks him back into the crumbling stone wall. The two then charge forward and go for a leaping punch that Rai meets with a stone fist causing an explosion of fire and stone that knock all of them back.

The two Mari stand up once more and look at the bear sage doing the same. They look behind him and see the wall fully collapse and Hanabi in the distance and seemingly planning with Lady Katsuyu. The two look and each other before making hand signs and placing both hands on the ground before saying in unison "Earth Style: Mud wall"

A giant wall of stone emerges behind Rai to his surprise. This moment of shock allows the two Mari to rush him and both land a kick to his head dropping him to one knee. They go to follow this up with two knees to his head but he rolls to the side and grabs Mari on the left and trips her up so she lands face-first into the wall of stone. Rai then jumps to his feet and leaps into the air and stomps down on the back of the prone Mari crushing her spine and causing her to explode and Rai uses the explosion to try and tackle the final Mari. She narrowly avoided being tackled as Rai would have liked with a side step but Rai improvised by grabbing her neck on the way past with his bad hand. They roll together before Rai focuses himself onto his feet and slams the final Mari against the wall while he begins to choke her.

"I really should have figured you were the real one, You have more chakra and your signature is slightly different than the fire clones," Rai says, with a disappointed tone. "You had a good go, did better than most but when you die your summon goes and I can finally clean this shit up and finish what I came here to do."

Mari begins to let out a small snide chuckle at the man grabbing her by the thought, which angers Rai once more and causes him to slam her back into the wall once again this time with such enough force to push her into the wall.

She looks at the large sage with a crack across her face before smiling and saying "gotcha." With that, she grabs the writs of Rai's already injured arm and turns to stone while merging into the wall like a statue.

Rai attempts to pull back but it causes him excruciating pain to attempt to free his injured arm. He looks into the air and screams out "FUUUCK!"

Mere moments after the ground next to him cracks open and the real Mari holding a flaming kunai leaps out and stabs Rai in the chest as the kunai sinks into the handle. Rai coughs blood before attempting to punch Mari, however, this quickly fails as Mari makes a couple of hand signs before ducking and redirecting his attack to the wall. As she does she places a free hand on the wall and calls out, "Earth Style: Stone Lock."

Rai's hand crashes into the wall cracking it however stone lurches from the wall and encases his arm from the elbow down. Rai immediately begins to pull again his stone imprisonment with his good arm and to Maris's surprise, he begins to already make cracks in the stone. Mari in response kicks Rai in the knee causing him to drop and thus creating even more tension on his arms and forcing him to briefly stop his escape attempt.

Mari then grabs the kunai and pulls it out of Rai's chest. She spins the kunai and switches it to a reverse grip, she takes the weapon and drives it down in between Rai's neck and shoulder. She uses this as leverage to pull herself into the air and onto his shoulders. The large man roars with an intense fury and rips his right arm free before trying to grab the girl on his shoulders.

Mari dodges into the air and pulls the kunai with her. Now airborne Mari spins around and ignites the kunai before throwing the flaming weapon at Rai's injured left arm. The kunai slides effortlessly through what is left of tissue, muscle, and bone around the elbow. Mari lands on the wall and looks down at the now one-armed Rai, shock overtakes his face as if he cannot comprehend what is happening for several seconds. After moments of silence, Rai screams out in pain as he yells, "You fucking bitch! I am going to fucking kill you and everyone you ever loved!"

Mari readies a battle stance and smiles, "Well you haven't done a good job so far."

Rai's arm stops bleeding as a stump forms over the open wound. As it does so the marking covering the sage's face disappears. Rai seems to grow immediately tired and weary as he looks over to Mari and spits blood on the ground.

Mari smiles and rushes Rai easily dodging a weakened blow before kicking him in the chest and knocking him through the wall of stone behind him. With a cacophonous thud, Rai smashes through the wall and impacts the dirt on the other side. Coughing and spluttering Rai begins to push rubble off of himself, just as he finishes doing so he looks up to the fading red sun in the sky and closes his eyes. His breathing slows, his muscles strain and tense as tho matched against an invisible force.

Mai leaps atop the crumbling wall and looks down at what she perceives to be a defeated opponent while mumbling to herself, "Lucky me sage mode has a time limit, I am almost out of tricks."

Mari confidently stands above Rai and she is feeling with joy at defeating such a foe, this is however short-lived as she ever so slightly notices that Rai has started healing once more minor cuts on his arms disappear. As soon as this realization hits she leaps to the downed sage. This is too late as she is in midair a piece of debris strikes her in the head knocking to the ground. Blood runs down her face once more as she staggers to her feet. Rai kicks up from the ground his eyes that of a bear and brown markings surround his face.

Faster than she can react Rai rushes her and grabs her face slamming her head into the stone wall. A sadistic grin occupies the face of the sage as he begins to drag Mari's head against and through the wall as he reaches the blood seeps in between his fingers and down the face and neck of the young girl. Rai throws Mari with incredible force that the ground shakes upon her impact.

The young girl weakly crawls to the edge of the crater left by her giant fireball from her arrival. Breathing heavy her left eye full of blood she begins to stand. As she rises to her feet she makes a hand sign and her fists ignite in flame.

Rai his wounds other than the missing arm now heal faster and faster as a new wave of sage chakra flows through him saunters up to the young girl with a smug grin. "So you are ready for round three, girl."

His answer is a flaming fist that slams into the side of his head knocking him back several feet. "I think I am, you bald motherfucker!"

Rai then moves forward and the two begin trading stiff and heavy punches, even though she is using both hands and refuses to back down Mari is clearly getting the worst of the fight. After trading nearly a dozen shots Mari throws one final attempt as the flames around her fists dye out, the punch barely makes Rai move his head to the side. Mari then falls to her knees in defeat. With respectful contempt Rai snarls and nods before he kicks Mari in the chest knocking her down into the pit.

Mari lay at the bottom of the crater and looks up as the last light of the sun fills her eyes before it fades into the night. Almost instantly above in the sky Mari only now notices the cloudless night as stars shine bright and hopeful light into her heart. She lets the feeling wash over her as she closes her eyes.

Rai leaps high into the air and before falling into the crater ready to stomp Mari into the ground and squish her. His velocity increases as he approaches the ground, he slams down deepening the crater even further and creating a shockwave that awakens Kasai and Hana from unconsciousness. A feeling of pride wells up in Rai as he claims yet another life or so he thinks. Seconds into a loud cheer erupting from the large sage he receives a kick to the head with incredible force.

He looks out from the new hold made from his crash into the crater's side to find Mari standing in the center arms folded and a pair of mirrored sunglasses on. As he pushes himself out of the hole he stands up and walks up to her face to face, "Who the fuck are you?"

Mari faces Rai with a silent almost ominously cold expression that would send any normal man into a panic, Rai however smiles something deep inside him, glad that it isn't over.

Rai once more swings with a haymaker but before he can even throw the punch Mari hits him with an uppercut that almost sends him out of the crater. Rai quickly shakes off the blow and looks down expectantly but almost as soon as he does Mari appears in front of him and once again kicks him in the head sending him even higher into the air. Rai falls back down to the earth dazed but just before he lands Mari catches him with a haymaker of her own launching him into and through a couple of pillars in the distance.

Mari walks back over to her friends as they are all brought together by Katsuyu. "Hey guys it feels like forever, you are looking great."

Hana and Kasai both let out a little snorty chuckle and a pained groan following it. Hana then looks up and asks Mari, "How did you get here?"

Kasai follows it up by asking "How did you get healed up so quick not that you could tell given your face, you looked like bbq shinobi not gonna lie, and what's with the new look?"

Konohamaru wakes up with the small scream that gets everyone's attention before he looks around and waits a couple of moments before speaking, "Where did the big guy go, and who is the hottie in sunglasses at night?"

Mari looks to the four shinobi and lets out a small chuckle before taking off the sunglasses while a piece of Lady Katsuyu crawls onto her head and face. Mari points at the crumbling pillars behind her with her thumb, "That's where he is and I am Mari, Mari Senju their teammate" she says before pointing at Kasai and Hana. "As for the rest, I guess I can give a quick recap."
