The Cosmic Dance

For hundreds of thousands of years, our solar system has been dancing a brilliant cosmic dance that will last a long time. This story tells the tales of the planets, as they dance around Sol, and their thoughts as they spin around the ball room.

1. Earth and Luna

At first, I didn't know what to think when you crashed into me. I was young, then, and you seemed so much bigger at first, but then we collided on the dance floor of Sol's magnificent ballroom, and as you left part of your gown on mine, I realized you were smaller than me. That's when I offered you my hand, and as we began to dance, the others looked on and smiled. Jupiter and Saturn looked on in approval, as they took turns with their many partners, and as Mars danced with his, both at the same time, he said "Now, Earth, you are no longer alone."

As we danced, I learned your name was Luna. I learned you had come from far away, and I learned that you found me enticing. And I felt the same. You pushed as I pulled, and we continued to dance for what seemed like eternity. As time passed, I must admit, there were times when it seemed as if you might start to drift away, to dance by yourself between Mars and me, or maybe Venus. But each time I gripped you tighter, you clung to my hand, your smiling face reflecting Sol's very brilliance.

I want to share part of myself with you. Grow even closer and share with you my life and warmth until that time when Sol grows, taking us into his warmth and light. I hope you feel the same. You have a much greater effect on me than anyone can even begin to imagine. And when our time comes, I hope I can finally be one with you, for the rest of eternity, forever dancing our cosmic dance.

Author's Note: Hello everyone! Thank you so much for reading! This was an idea that struck me while my dad and I were talking about our solar system, and more specifically, updates on our lovely little moon. While we were talking, I couldn't get the imagery of the planets participating in a giant cosmic dance out of my head, and so, I wrote it down. Updates will come as I finish parts of the story, so don't expect any kind of schedule.
