"You're welcome," Maui said to me.
I was confused. "I'm welcome for what?"
"For saving your life." Then the boastful demigod made his way around the boat, saying to everyone, 'You're welcome.'
Then I was left alone to join Sven in being seasick. I knew we had to sail as fast as we could, but I wasn't very good with ships especially if they were going at the speed of a tidal wave. Sven and I went overboard to throw up.
"Do you feel any better, Sven?" I asked him.
"'Uh, I think so, Kristoff'," I said for him.
"Good. Well, I think I got it all out of me." Then I threw up some more.
"Need some help?"
Sven and I turned to find Miguel standing behind me.
"Are you getting seasick, too, Miguel?" I asked.
"No, I'm just checking on everyone," he said. "Including our friends on the other boats." He approached on the right hand side of me and he looked down to check on the other boats.
"How's Yelana doing?" Miguel called to the boat she was on.
One of Moana's people replied back, "The healer said she's recovering very well, Miguel. And she also said she's very grateful to you for saving her."
"No problem, Kristoff," he said.
Before he walked off, I said to him, "I never had a chance to thank you properly for finding my children and protecting them, Miguel."
He smiled. "It was an absolute pleasure." Then he walked off.
He bumped into Honeymaren and Ryder and they both thanked him again for saving their leader.
"It was no trouble at all," he said.
Then I noticed Honeymaren giving Miguel a look of what I thought was some kind of flirting. Then I saw Miguel approaching Moana who was at the steering wheel since we escaped Arendelle.
"You're doing a fantastic job, Moana," he said, putting his hand on her shoulder.
"Thank you, Miguel," she said.
"What do you think of sailing this type of ship?" he asked.
"Well, it's toughing than what I'm used to," Moana said, "but I'm learning."
"And what a great learner you are," he said, letting go of her shoulder. "And a great teacher as well."
"Thank you again, Miguel." Then she kissed him on the lips and then he left to check if everyone was okay.
Then I saw Anna and Elsa approaching me. I hoped Elsa didn't watch any of Miguel's latest interactions with Moana or Honeymaren. I knew she had never forgotten Miguel or lost her feelings for him, even for not seeing him after six years.
"Kristoff, we will need you and Sven to come to the big table on deck whenever you can," Anna said.
"What for?" I asked.
"A meeting," Elsa told me. "Anna's found some things that might be clues to solving this mystery."
Since Sven and I weren't doing anything at the moment, we followed to the big table. Joining us was Olaf, Mattais, Grand Pabbie Miguel, Tulio, Moana and Maui. One of Mattais's men relieved Moana from helm duty. Then Anna got out a bag from under her shirt and emptied it onto the table. There were maps of various places, drawings of magic, monsters and other objects and three glass jars with colourful liquids in them.
"I managed to take them before Hans caught me," she said. "They're not the very same the ones I saw in Hans's priest room, but they are very similar."
"Well, your theory of this priest being the hidden ringleader behind the invasion is proving to be more correct the more we look into this, Anna," I told her.
Then we all studied every map and every drawing, but we couldn't work out what they could mean.
"Maybe these islands here are just long lost and waiting to be rediscovered," Tulio said.
We left the glass jars only to be inspected by the wise magical expert Grand Pabbie.
Maui looked at the monster drawings. "These monsters are the very tough dudes I've been fighting for weeks. It wasn't until we came to your island that we discover what they're after – this Mortal Son of the Gods that they worship." Then he gasped as he thought. "Could your hooded friend be the god himself?"
We all thought that was possible.
"I don't know a great deal about these monsters or their ringleader," Grand Pabbie said, "but this is reminding me of some sort of very ancient religion. I don't remember the name of it or if it ever had a name. All I know is that it existed and if it still exists now, it will still be as dangerous as it was. Maybe even more if it had all this time to remain hidden and rise."
"So what can we do about it, Grand Pabbie?" I asked.
"Well, like I said, these dudes are after the Mortal Son of the Gods they serve," Maui said. "We still don't know who it is, but I think we have a likely lead."
"Who?" Olaf asked.
When Maui looked at the person, we all looked and couldn't believe it. Even that person couldn't believe it. In fact, he laughed his head off.
"Me?" Miguel laughed. "Me, a son of some gods? Oh, come on. I have no divinity in me at all. Even if I did, I was too stupid to even be a fake god in El Dorado. No way could I be a real full god or a demigod."
"You're not as stupid as you think you are, Miguel," Anna said. "You protected El Dorado from invaders, even blocking their entrance for their safety."
"Then you came to Arendelle and helped to save us from goblins and those two evil sorcerers," I said.
"And now you came back to Arendelle to save us from Hans and his empire," Elsa added.
"And you gave me and my people a home when we couldn't find anywhere else or when no one else would offer us one," Moana said.
I couldn't hear Tulio probably, but I thought he said, "Oh, sure. Give all the credit to Miguel and none to me."
"Besides, demigods aren't always the brightest," Maui said, "according to your buddy Tulio here."
"Well, you couldn't work out how to steer this ship," Tulio said.
Then he turned to Miguel. "Miguel, you never knew your parents at all. You have no more memory of them than I do of my parents. The only family you ever had was your mean sister."
"Well, you don't remember having any siblings any more than your parents, Tulio," Miguel said. "Could you be this Mortal Son?"
"Well, maybe," Tulio said, but less likely than you, I fear. When they attacked our island and couldn't find the Mortal Son there, they left to search again. They saw me, but they left all the same."
"So does that mean they could come to this fleet to grab Miguel?" Mattais asked.
"If they do," Miguel said, "I'll surrender to them and give you guys a chance to escape before they attack you."
"No, Miguel!" Elsa and Moana cried together. We were all surprised to see both of them say that together in unison.
"We just need to take you somewhere safe," Elsa said.
"And if our enemies arrive to us, we'll fight together," Moana said.
"No!" Miguel snapped. "You all have been through a lot. You've lost your homes, you've lost your families and friends and you nearly lost your lives. All because of everyone looking for me. I don't want any more to die because of me."
"Miguel, you're not responsible for all of those deaths," Anna said.
"So far, you have done good, Miguel," Grand Pabbie said. "But you must be careful with your future decisions. One wrong move and you could jeopardize the future for all of us."
Then we heard a cannon shot and saw it hit the mast. Anna managed to grab the jars, but I pulled her away in time before it the fallen mast hit the table with the drawings and maps on it. We saw the man who was at the helm no longer at it, but Moana took charge of it.
We turned to see the rest of our ships were missing getting attacked by cannonballs despite more kept on coming. We looked behind and saw who was attacking us. Hans and his powerful fleet.
"Prepare for battle!" Tulio ordered.
We all got to work.
