Percy was confused. As far as his knowledge went, Prefects weren't required to have extra training. But Percy had never questioned the rules before - why start now? It was probably just some easy spells to help break up a fight if a teacher wasn't around. Percy read over the letter just in case he'd missed something.

Dear Percival Ignatius Weasley,

With great pride, we, The Hogwarts Staff, welcome you to become a prefect. As you know, Prefects, protect the students, and have the ability to add or dock points. If caught wielding this power unfairly it will be removed, and you could have your Prefect status revoked. Please treat this as an honor.

Training will take place on August, 17 to the first day of School. Please discuss this with your parents, if unable to attend, please contact us, so we can find someone else to fill the role.

Thank you,

Albus Dumbledore,

Headmaster of Hogwarts

Percy took a deep breath, and puffed out his chest, before reaching further into the envelope - where a cool metal badge awaited him. He pulled it out and stared at its beauty. It was a scarlet red, with a golden griffin in a mighty position. As if daring any evil to attack it. Percy ran his fingers over it, and felt his eyes fogging up - he hastily wiped them away.

He'd earned this. As he clutched the badge in his hand he swore he'd do the best he could.

Convincing his parents to let him go was surprisingly easy. They'd been ecstatic, and had a nice celebration - though Percy had a feeling his siblings weren't cheering for the same was August 1st, 16 days until he'd go to Hogwarts, and begin his Prefect training - whatever it'd entail.

The day was here, and Percy didn't think he could be more excited. Not only was he becoming a Prefect - he was leaving that hell-hole early! Yes, he loved his family, but it was just too much at times. No, the twins were too much at times. But now a full two weeks of nothing but rules, books, and perfection.

However, that's not exactly what would go down.

Only Molly accopained Percy to the train, which honestly, he expected. Instead of 10, they'd had to be there at 9am, and his family loved to sleep in. It didn't hurt his feelings though. Not one bit.

When Percy got on the train, he found Penelope, and met some other Prefects. Amelia Cast was his fellow gryffindor prefect, with her twin brother, Max Cast, being the Ravenclaw Prefect. Percy learned that not all twins are perfectly in-sync, and unbearable. Of course, he'd known that before, but given the past summer, he was starting to have some doubts. All four of them had shared a compartment, and Percy's learned a lot of things.

Like Max was gay, and his boyfriend was the Slytherin Prefect. He'd actually been really nervous about telling Percy and Penelope, but both were completely accepting. Percy had had his own . . . indecent thoughts about a certain Qudditch Captain himself.

Or that Amelia was the only Gryfinndor who enjoyed Snape's class. Percy wondered why he'd never seen her before - they were in the same year. He figured he must've just missed her. But the twins were truly like nothing he'd ever seen.

They had mustard hair, and the same shade of eyes, with tan olive skin, and a small amount of golden freckles that seemed to glow in the sunlight. It made him very self-conscious about his own looks. His wine-red hair separated him from the regular carrot-orange haired family members, and his intense blue eyes contradicted the warm ambers and browns found in his family. Not to mention his freckles seem to do anything but complement his skin - they seemed like beacons in the middle of a dark stormy night.

But anyway, the four of them had an overall great time, and Percy got off the train with 2 new friends, and a nice feeling about himself. The four of them soon met up with the 4 other prefects from Hufflepuff and Slytherin. They all seemed to be getting along great, and they all introduced themselves.

The two Slytherin Prefects were Ophiuchus White, though he wished to be called White by students, but his fellow Prefects were allowed to call him 'Shiro' - course he didn't come up with the name but the female hufflepuff suggested it, and before he could say no, it was set in stone. Said female hufflepuff was a muggleborn - Cassie Barnes. The Female slytherin was flirting with the male hufflepuff - who was sporting a blush redder than Percy's hair.

Percy found out that Female Slytherin was Opal Sallow. Her family definitely was the richest, but they were on the lighter side of things when it came to Slytherin Families. The poor boy she was flirting with was Earl Hydra, from a rich family of Hufflepuffs who - from what Percy knew - ment business.

All 8 of them got along fine, Amelia and Opal swabbled a bit, but in a mostly friendly manner. They all got in one carriage - it was remarkably bigger and better than what they were used to, but none were complaining. The carriage was sliver, with golden accents, and if you looked closely, you could see magiastic designs featuring Griffins, Serpents, Ravens, and Badgers. The inside was vevelted, and food appeared on a crystal table set in the middle. Even the dishes were nice. They were china, and every Prefect got a teacup, that showed out their house.

Percy and Amelia's cups were scarlet red, gold framing the top and bottom, with the tail of a roaring griffin acting as a handle.

Earl and Cassie's were black with bright yellow badgers seemingly crawling their way through tunnels, leading other much less noticeable animals to safety.

Penelope and Max's were a royal blue with a proud bronze raven stamped on the front. Silver topped the top, bottom, and coated the handle.

Opal and Shiro had Emerald green cups, with silver snakes forming the handle, and one snake - bigger than the rest - had a crown on his head, and flaunted it proudly.

All Prefects - even the ones born in Wizarding riches, were shocked silent by the spectacular presentation. None of them were expecting this, was there a sudden fund found by the Headmaster? Shiro found his voice first.

"Well, this was certainly not expected." He said, as he let out a breathy laugh. The others joined him and soon they were all laughing - though none could specify why. After a minute, they stopped, and Percy spoke up, "You know, I don't think I've laughed like that for a good while." The others looked at him quizzically, "Did something bad happen?" Earl asked adjusting his own rounded glasses.

This question shocked percy who raised his hands in defense, "Oh heavens no! I just don't share the same type of . . . humor as my family." "Humor? You mean cruel jokes? Man, I can't wait to put those pranking twins in their place." Opal said, a feral smile flashing across her face. "W-well, I wouldn't say . . ." all other prefects just looked at him before he caved, "Yeah, I would say cruel. You know, this year just might be the best one yet."

"Cheers to that!" Max said, as he raised his cup, and they all toasted - to a year with no cruel pranks, and new friendships.
