Chapter 2: Shadowsong
Shadowsong padded beside her mother, Shadefin. The moon shone brightly in the night sky, and stars twinkled in Silverpelt. Tonight was the night of the gathering, but Shadowsong wasn't particularly excited about it. Rumors had been flying that somecat from her own clan had killed the ThunderClan medicine cat.
Shadowsong hadn't heard much more about it though. The group of cats padded across the tree and reached the island and padded across the tree. Shadowsong saw that ThunderClan, Shadowclan, SkyClan, and WindClan were already there. Peering into the throng of cats, she spotted her friend Rainstorm of ThunderClan and padded over to her.
"Hi Rainstorm!" Shadowsong meowed cheerfully. Rainstorm just ignored her and stared at the ground. Shadowsong's bright expression faded quickly. She just shrugged and searched the crowd for her other friend and clanmate, Fernfall. Fernfall was a sweet RiverClan warrior that, like Shadowsong, loved swimming. Shadowsong saw Fernfall sharing tongues with her brother, Sootstrike, and padded over to them.
"Hey Fernfall!" Shadowsong meowed.
"Hi, Shadowsong!" Fernfall responded, turning her head away from her brother.
"Can I sit here?" Shadowsong asked. Fernfall nodded, and Shadowsong sat on her right side, while Sootstrike glared at Shadowsong from the left. For some unknown reason, Sootstrike had always hated Shadowsong. She didn't know why. Nobody did.
"Oh look it's the fish-brain." Sootstrike meowed with a smirk at Shadowsong. Fernfall rolled her eyes.
"Speak for yourself squid-heart." Shadowsong growled.
"Let all cats gather together for the meeting of the clans!" The leader of WindClan, Vinestar, yowled. Shadowsong's attention snapped toward the five leaders standing on the Great Oak.
"I would like to start," the leader of ThunderClan, Sagestar, announced. "As some of you already know, our medicine cat, Leopardflower, was murdered." He paused at the resulting gasps in the crowd of cats below. "There was RiverClan scent all over her when we found her, and she was just barely alive. Before she died, she told one of my warriors, Echowing, that the cat that murdered her had orange eyes."
"Are you saying that one of my warriors killed your medicine cat?" RiverClan's leader, Birchstar, asked Sagestar. He must have taken into account that Sagestar said "RiverClan scent" and Shadowsong was the only cat in the clans with orange eyes. But I didn't kill her! Shadowsong thought, offended by Sagestar.
"Yes, I am," Sagestar meowed. "And we all know there is only one warrior in all the clans that has orange eyes." Shadowsong narrowed her eyes at the ThunderClan leader. That was so unfair! It could have been a rogue with orange eyes who killed Leopardflower!
"Are you saying that you know exactly who killed Leopardflower?" Birchstar snarled. "And that cat happens to be one of my most kind and loyal warriors, Shadowsong?"
"Yes," Sagestar answered. "I suggest you hand her over to us for questioning and imprisonment."
"Do you have any proof that Shadowsong killed your medicine cat?" The leader of ShadowClan, Miststar, asked. Shadowsong held her breath nervously, fear coursing through her heart. She didn't kill the medicine cat! I would never kill anyone on purpose! Shadowsong thought. I can't believe that Sagestar would even imagine that I did that!
A flicker of uneasiness crossed Sagestar's eyes, and Shadowsong once again held her breath.
"It doesn't matter," Sagestar finally meowed. "There is plenty of evidence, and I want the murderer dead. I don't care who it was. But whoever it was, they will wind up dead by my claws." Shadowsong saw cats shift awkwardly away from her. Sootstrike glared at her and even Fernfall looked a bit uncomfortable.
Shadowsong's parents, Sagethorn and Shadefin, ran over to Shadowsong. They and Fernfall made a protective barrier around their daughter, and Shadowsong groaned.
"Mother, father, you don't always have to protect me!" Shadowsong hissed. Sagethorn just silenced her with his tail. Shadowsong looked up at the Great Oak. Vinestar, Littlestar, and Miststar were awkwardly standing on one side while Birchstar and Sagestar were facing each other, growling with their hackles raised. Shadowsong blinked nervously.
Then she heard cats gasping and shouting, "The moon!" Shadowsong looked up and saw that clouds had covered the moon.
"StarClan is angry!" Vinestar bellowed. "WindClan, we're leaving!"
WindClan, ShadowClan, SkyClan, and ThunderClan all flooded for the tree bridge in panic and quickly left the island, leaving RiverClan.
"What are we going to do?" Sootstrike asked Birchstar.
"We'll see," Birchstar sighed grimly.
If you want to submit a medicine cat or deputy you have to pm me. If you don't pm me about it and get permission I will not make that OC a deputy/medicine cat. They will just be a warrior or an elder depending on what their age is. Do not submit family for the main PoV please. You cannot submit family for the OCs that other people submit/ that are already there. Do not submit leaders please. Make sure to look at this message everytime I post a new chapter, just to make sure you don't miss anything if I update it. Dont' be afraid, submit some more!
