Percy had come back from his shift at the cafe, and now was standing on the 5th floor, staring at all the doors. They all looked the exact same! Plain white door, with a number on them. Of course, Percy doesn't remember which apartment he lived in. He just moved into it, and now, he was lost. He just wandered around, trying to see anything familiar to him, but there was nothing. He could call his friends, but they would just tease him. He wandered the halls, slightly panicking.
After 10 random minutes, he then decided to knock on each door, and when he didn't hear a sound, he would go in. A very flawed plan, but it's worth not being embarrassed by his friends compared to random strangers.
First door, 362. Nope. Just a very old lady, with crutches and fierceness, but don't judge her outside. She seemed very nice. Even offered some cookies, for which Percy politely declined.
364. Some random kid who said he loved George and Fred, his boogers. Percy might have slammed the door on him, which may have seemed rude, but when you see those marker drawn smiling faces on them, you would have done the same.
346. This bratty woman on a call, who didn't even spare a glance at him. She just shut the door right in his face.
348. The weirdest teenager that Percy has ever met. Even weirder than the booger kid. He at least wasn't as disgusting, Percy thought. He at least seemed nice, and maybe could be a friend, but very weird. He was around Percy's age, had curly brown hair, mud and dirt, even though he was inside, and was sweating a lot. He had kind of maniacal, but fond eyes. He said his name was Leo.
350. This was the scariest one. There was a baby who had a snake wrapped around her/him(he couldn't really tell, since the baby was so young), and Percy almost screeched. He screamed help, but no one helped, and let the baby walk out like it was normal for a baby to have a snake wrapped around their neck. The owners found her, and just glared at Percy. Why would they glare for rescuing their baby from probably a venomous snake?
Percy knocked on 352.
No response.
He knocked one more time. No response. He thought he heard shuffling, but it was probably from the nice crutch lady who was attacking the booger kid, who was trying to yank the snake of the baby, who was trying to lick the dirt off the elfish kid named Leo, who was making noise right behind him. He wriggled the door knob. It took some time, as it was rusty.
Unlocked.
And in he went.
Annabeth was really having the worst day.
She had gone shopping with Silena 5 hours ago, who was normally great company, but when it came to shopping, it was hell.
Then she got fired by her boss. At a pizza place which was desperately hiring! A customer had ordered a barbeque chicken pizza, and when Annabeth went to go give it to him, he claimed it was a veggie pizza, and Annabeth might have gotten frustrated and started yelling at him. And when her boss fired her, Annabeth yelled at her too.
Next, she realized she left the key card to her apartment, in the apartment, so she had to drive to Piper's house to get the spare, only to forget because Piper's a great conversationalist, drove all the way home, trying to remember why she went there in the first place, and when she reached her apartment again, she realized she was missing her key card, and drove back to Piper's house, told her to shut up, and drove back to her apartment.
Deep breaths, Annabeth, deep breaths.
Then on her way from Piper's house, she was given a ticket for going past the speed limit.
Deep breaths, Annabeth, deep breaths.
She opened her apartment door, got the key card, and walked back to her car. She dropped it in the compartment box.
She then used Piper's key card to open her apartment again, walked in, tossing her shoes, purse, and practically everything not needed to the side, and collapsed on the couch.
She felt like breaking down. So much stress and pressure. She just wanted to lie in bed with Piper, and cry as much as she can. But that won't work, considering she told Piper to shut up around an hour ago.
She just burst into tears. Annabeth was supposed to be a strong and confident person, but occasionally she needed a little letting go. Wow, that sounds wrong.
She really needed to spend less time with Leo.
She went to her fridge and got some vanilla ice cream, with a drizzle of chocolate syrup. She was going to sit down, when she heard a knock on her door.
Must have been an accident, Annabeth thought.
But another knock came, and Annabeth was suspicious.
You might think, well Annabeth, it's probably a friend or an employee of the building. It can't be. See, when Annabeth moves, she makes her own rules. Everyone knows Annabeth's visitor system. Stranger's never knocked on her door. It's kind of weird, but their apartment is almost secret. If you are a neighbor, you have to warn Annabeth beforehand, what time you will knock on her door. And if you are a friend you have to knock the "London Bridge Is Falling Down" song(her friends get tired doing it every time they come to her apartment, but most of her friends have key cards to her apartment). So it can't be a stranger, neighbor, or a friend.
The door knob was being turned. She quickly thought what to do. She knows her apartment door was unlocked, and if she went to lock it, the criminal might be too fast for her, and be closer to her. If she went and got a knife, she might make more noise, and accidentally drop the knife, so the thief would know exactly where she is. She decided for the last and final option. Hiding.
She creeped to her bedroom, and thankfully she had taken her shoes off, otherwise it would have made a lot of noise. It was really close to the door, so a thief would never think someone would hide there. She leaned down, and slid underneath her bed. It was her childhood hiding spot. She hasn't lived here for a long time, but in every home she's lived in, her favorite hiding spot was always underneath her bed. Her parents would always pretend they didn't know where she was, but she knew they did, because almost every single time, she was underneath the bed.
She had made sure to bring a phone with her. If the thief goes into the kitchen, far away from the rest of the house, including her bedroom, she might be able to make a call without him/her noticing. Hey, she doesn't know the gender of the thief, so Annabeth was not one to make assumptions.
Just then, the door creaked open. Annabeth crouched into a ball, and controlled her breathing. Annabeth could tell by the footsteps and grumbling, it was guy. He headed right towards the bedroom.
Shoot.
He reached the bedroom, and he just looked around casually. There was a TV and a phone, and he was not taking them. Just looking around. He turned back around, when Annabeth felt a tingling sensation on her nose, and she couldn't hold it in.
"Mew-cho!"
Annabeth would normally laugh about how it sounded like a cat, but now was not the right time! The guy stopped in his tracks, and turned around, walking towards Annabeth.
When Percy walked in, the first room he noticed was a bedroom. He walked inside, as the door was opened, and he knew it definitely wasn't his room. It was for one, gray, not blue. It had white curtains twisted like hair, it was so professional. There were papers with amazing structures on them that seemed so real, it might be famous, but Percy hadn't recognized them. And he knew New York with all his heart. Except maybe the really weird apartments. There were also pictures of this young adorable girl with two adults, most likely her parents, and pictures of her growing up with people who are probably her friends. Again, Percy has no idea, as this is not his apartment. Feeling as he invaded enough of someone's privacy, Percy turned around to leave when he heard a sound:
"Mew-cho!"
…
Oh, this family had the wrong pet. Let's explain the situation here.
Percy's parents were Sally Jackson and Poseidon. Poseidon got lost at sea, never to be found again. Sally Jackson married Gabe Ugliano, a few years later, who seemed nice at first, but after the marriage, showed his true colors as a world-class jerk and an abusive. And as you know, Percy loves Sally with all his heart, so whenever Sally was at home with Smelly Gabe, Percy made sure to always be there so Gabe would hit him, not his mother. Even after Gabe left, part of him was gone. Growing up, he had lots of friends, a few he dated, but they went back to being friends, but even he knew something else than being in a relationship was missing. That feeling went away as soon as Percy met the cat.
Percy was walking home from a tiring day of school, when he saw a cat behind the bushes. It was hurt, with a few scars. It reminded him of Gabe, and immediately took the cat to his apartment. After taking care of the cat, Percy was practically attached to the cat, and of course, he kept it. As Percy hated calling the cat, well, "cat", he decided to name him. He finally decided with a few weird friend's help to call him " Small Bob." Percy now has this large adoration for animals, especially cats. Now you see what's happening.
Back to the current scene. Percy just couldn't resist cats. He tried so hard to leave, but he couldn't just leave! He twisted around, and went towards the bed where he had heard the sneeze.
He checked under the covers, but nothing was there. So he checked around the room, but found nothing. He went to check under the bed, and he heard a little shuffling, and immediately knew the cat was there.
"Pspsps," he gasped, while leaning down.
But his sight was not what he expected. It was a fully grown teenager, not a cat. But before Percy could register what was happening, the girl tackled him to the ground.
"Who are you?!"
"Who are you?"
The girl had him pinned to the floor with all her force. Percy was getting really nervous. He knew he was trespassing, and he could be sued or given a lecture, but being tackled to the ground was not what he was expecting.
"You know, considering your situation right now, you shouldn't act like an imbecile!"
"I don't know what you mean! I'm Percy Jackson, and I thought you were a cat!"
Ok, that came out a little different than he wanted it to be, but it was the truth.
The girl loosened her grip on him, but still kept it firm.
"What do you mean? How could you confuse me with a cat? Something's missing here. So you aren't a thief?"
"Of course not, why would you think that?"
"Well considering, you just entered my apartment with no permission, my assumption seems correct!"
"I thought this was my apartment!"
"What kind of idio-wait, so if you aren't a robber, who are you?"
" I'm Percy Jackson, like I've told you the past two times."
"No need to show sass, I meant, what's your story, and how did you end up here?"
"Well there's this thing called making babies, and my parents decided to-."
"That's not what I meant! Is your brain filled with literal seaweed! I meant, how did you end up in my apartment?"
This girl seemed crazy, so Percy explained how he got into her apartment, and in the middle she let him sit down on her bed, and he just then realized how much his body was aching.
After the story, she relaxed a little, but still had a guarded expression on her face.
"Well now that you've explained, go ahead and leave. You better be glad I'm not suing you."
Percy suddenly had a sheepish expression on his face. "About that, I still don't remember where I live."
"Then go call a friend!"
"Oh right."
He knew he would be embarrassed, but it was worth it, than spending time with this girl who was as light as a feather, but as strong as a sumo wrestler.
He called Jason, who was his most responsible friend, while still being a rebel. The phone rang, and Jason picked up the call. Percy made sure to put it loud, so the girl could hear, in case he needed her help to explain.
"Hey Perce! What's up!"
Percy would hear screaming and shouting in the background, as well as "CHUG, CHUG, CHUG!" He immediately knew it must be Drew's party. ( Jason's girlfriend is Piper, and Drew is Piper's step-sister, so whenever she throws parties around their mansion, Piper and Jason always have to escape).
"Hey, I'm in a little trouble. You know that apartment you showed me? I kind of lost it, and now I'm someone's random apartment, and I need you to show me to the apartment."
That's the problem with Percy. Whenever someone gives instructions on the phone, and not in person, he gets even more lost and bored. Stupid ADHD.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY?"
"I SAID, I NEED YOU TO COME TO ROOM 352, TO PICK ME UP. I'M CURRENTLY AT A STRANGERS APARTMENT SINCE I LOST MY WAY TO MY APARTMENT."
"SORRY DUDE! CAN'T COME QUICK. GETTING OUT OF THIS PARTY WOULD TAKE AT LEAST FOUR HOURS, AND I WOULD NEED TO SLEEP. BUT I CAN PICK YOU UP TOMORROW?"
Percy thought about it for a minute, then turned his head towards the girl. She stared at him, as if he had a plan, then nodded in affirmation, which was quite nice, considering she was letting a stranger stay in her house for a day.
"SURE, THANKS, BYE."
"BYE!"
And with, Percy ended the call, and set his phone on the bed. It was at that moment, he realized he needed an explanation from the girl.
"Wait, why would you think I was a thief? I only knocked on your door?"
"That's a long story."
"Well, we have lots of time."
She hesitated, before explaining the visitor system to him, and Percy was in awe. While it was smart, it is also quite flawed.
They sat on the bed in silence, when Percy spoke up.
"What's your name?"
The girl looked straight into his eyes. " Why would I give you my name?"
"Since I'm staying here for a whole day, and if I want to talk to you, I don't want to say "hey, girl-""
She cut him off. " Annabeth. Annabeth Chase."
Annabeth. Annabeth. He liked the way her name rolled off his that weird? Annabeth, he mouthed.
He was suddenly bored. His ADHD was kicking up. " Can we do something?"
She stared at him weirdly. "Why would we do anything. You're not my friend, and I barely know you. I'm just offering you to sleep on my couch for the-."
"My name is Percy Jackson, my mother is Sally Jackson, and my stepdad is Paul Blofis. I love anything blue, especially cookies and coke. I'm 17 years old. I have a cat named Small Bob, who is currently alone somewhere in my apartment. I have 8 best friends, even though a few are my cousins, I became friends with them without knowing they were my cousins. My favorite sport is swimming. You know me now, let's go do something fun!"
Even Annabeth cracked a smile at this, and Percy felt accomplished. Maybe she was human after all. Then it went away. Maybe not.
"No."
He put his puppy dog eyes. " Pretty please?"
She gazed at him for what seemed a whole minute, and she broke. "Fine! Let's go!"
"You'll see Annabanana, we'll become the best of friends!"
He knew his baby side was coming out, but he also knew it was adorable, and almost no one could resist it except his mom.
"It's Annabeth!"
"Sure."
" So Percy, what's first, and it can't be dangerous."
"Why not? Dangerous is fun!"
"If breaking your bone is fun for you, then sure, it's very fun."
They were currently walking around as kids went down slides, and dogs chased around them.
Suddenly, Percy pointed to the left. Annabeth shifted her gaze towards the left and saw a stand, with a lady working behind it. There was a banner on the front of the cart. It read Ice Cream CONEction. Annabeth cringed.
Percy smiled widely at the sight of the sign, and turned around at Annabeth, and nodded his head, asking for affirmation. At least they weren't doing rope swinging, Annabeth thought. "Sure. What do you want?"
Percy thought about it for a while, looking at the list of flavors and toppings.
"I'll take a cotton candy explosion, with rainbow sprinkles and M&Ms."
The lady wrote down the order, and gestured towards Annabeth.
"I'll take a vanilla with sprinkles."
The lady asked, "Anything else?"
"Nope, that's it."
She moved to the back of the room.
Annabeth twisted towards Percy, moving her legs around awkwardly. After a minute, the lady(Shelly, according to her nametag, that Annabeth hadn't noticed before), came and gave them the ice cream. Annabeth and Percy paid, took their dessert, and sat down at a table.
Annabeth quickly started eating her ice cream, when she realized Percy was staring at her.
She glared back. "What!"
Percy raised his hands in surrender. "I was just wondering if you ever try something new and flavorful. Instead of just vanilla and sprinkles."
"Of course I do."
Percy gave her a look.
"Fine, no I haven't. I just don't like other flavors. Vanilla is the best."
Percy looked her in the eyes. "How would you know? You've never tried them."
"I just do."
Percy twisted his head in annoyance. "Look Annabeth, I'm just trying to help. Why don't you try a spoon of my ice cream?"
She rubbed her forehead.
"I don't need your help, okay! I'm trying to get this day over with, and please stop making it harder!"
She thought he might back down, and give up, depending on the look she was giving him, but him being a stubborn imbecile, but his eyes, again. He looked like a seal. Adorable, yet kind of weird. He pushed his spoon towards her again.
"Go ahead. It doesn't taste bad. I mean, what's the worst that could happen?"
She paused, then shoved the spoon so quick in her mouth, Percy literally jumped in his seat.
Flavors exploded in her mouth, and it was-it was delicious! She savored the taste, just staying there for a while, slowly sucking the dessert inside. It was a new experience, like trying zip-lining or mountain climbing.
She looked at Percy, and even with her pride, she left her happy expression on her face, showing how much she loved it.
He beamed back.
"What's next?"
Percy looked at Annabeth curiously. It was only then when he noticed how beautiful she was. Her blond hair was glowing, and her stormy grey eyes were filled with happiness. She had this aura around her, that Percy has never seen before. She was practically shining like a goddess. Magnificent. Percy knew immediately that this girl could at some point be a strong friend of his.
"How about we go meet a friend of mine?"
"You have friends?"
"Haha. No, actually, is it fine with you?"
He thought he might feel a little awkward, but agreed, as he was planning on dragging her everywhere later.
They drove to a nice modern apartment. The thing that stuck out was the WELCOME mat outside, considering that they had an apartment, not a house, but they still had it, so it seems no one in the apartment complex complained about it.
They took off their shoes, and Annabeth knocked on the wood door. A few seconds later, a girl came out. She had gold shiny eyes, and brown curly hair that stuck out everywhere. She seemed Percy's age, possibly younger, but kind of a cute and adorable girl. Percy was not interested in her, but was merely stating a fact.
The girl rushed forward towards Annabeth, giving her a large tight hug. The girl's hair was in Annabeth's face, but Annabeth didn't mind, as she responded back, wrapping her arms around the girl. They stayed in their embrace, long enough to make Percy feel awkward. He cleared his throat.
"Ahm."
Annabeth turned towards him, glaring at him with so much intensity. The girl on the other seemed quite surprised, considering a stranger she had never seen before was declaring for them to break apart.
"And you are?"
Her voice was gentle, like she was off thinking of her dreams. It made Percy think of Luna Lovegood, just a tad bit toned down.
"I'm Percy Jackson, Annabeth's…"
Percy didn't know what to call Annabeth. They had eaten ice cream together, but he didn't exactly know what to call them. Luckily, Annabeth had realized what was happening, and saved him from staying frozen.
"Acquaintance."
The girl turned back towards Percy, with narrowed eyes.
"Alright acquaintance, sorry, Percy-."
She didn't seem too sorry.
"My name is Hazel, and I'm Annabeth's close friend, and I swear to god, if you mess with her, I will toss you off a buildin-."
Annabeth covered Hazel's mouth. She nodded her head in a sorry towards Percy.
"Nothing is going on between me and Percy, Hazel. I have a closer relationship with Leo then Percy."
Leo. Wasn't that really weird elfish muddy same age kid that Percy had met? Hazel looked at Annabeth for any traces of untruthfulness, and then softened, and Annabeth let go of her hand.
Hazel turned towards Percy, with a very warm smile, unlike before.
"Come on in. We have lots of time, so tell me how you both met."
Hazel had brought hot chocolate, which tasted amazing. They both told their view of the story. Hazel had nearly spilled the hot chocolate on her shirt.
"Wait, so Annabeth thought you were a thief, and you thought she was a cat."
I nodded. "Pretty much sums it up."
"And I thought the time I met Leo was weird."
Does everyone know Leo?
Percy had been pretty much zoning out, and he came out of his phase when Hazel said yes, and it seemed like she answered his question, which creeped Percy out quite a bit.
"Either way, Percy, tell me about yourself."
Percy didn't know what to really say. He decided to look around the room with his eyes. It was one of his methods for thinking of inspiration. The first thing he spotted was a blue book. Of course that stood out to him.
"My favorite color is blue, my mom is an author, my stepdad is my English professor, and my dad…"
Percy really didn't want to talk about his dad. He's told all his friends, but he didn't exactly want to tell random strangers about him.
Hazel seemed to notice why he faded out, and changed the subject. Phew.
"Well, you're welcome to stay and listen to me and Annabeth gossip, but you can go into the kitchen. My boyfriend, Frank, is there cooking some burgers, and he's always excited for new people. We'll come and join you guys later."
Percy knew it would be even more awkward with her boyfriend, but he would do anything to be excused from girl talk. Plus, Annabeth was burning eye holes in him, so he thought the best choice was to go.
"I'll just leave then…"
The kitchen was very easy to find, as it was the widest most grand kitchen Percy had ever seen, in real life. He had seen plenty of amazing photos of kitchen tables, but it was so shiny, and he wanted to get one so bad for his mom. The ironic thing was that they lived in an apartment, while his mom was living in a house.
He walked into the kitchen, and saw a bulky Asian guy with an apron flipping over a patty. He seemed an inch smaller than Percy, chubby in the face, but his body was defined. He saw Percy and just frowned for a few seconds, letting the patty burn. Francis, wait no, Frank looked him up and down, trying to read him.
"Who are you," he asked, not rudely, but with curiosity.
"Um, my name is Percy. I'm an acquaintance of Annabeth, and Hazel said I should come here."
He emphasized with the word acquaintance, as he didn't want another encounter like what happened with Hazel.
A slow grin spread across his face.
"Well then, you'll have to tell me how you met. I've been dying for an interesting story."
After an hour, Percy and Annabeth headed out. Percy had really enjoyed the visit. They talked a lot, and Percy slowly warmed up to them. Percy might have even made new friends.
They said Percy was welcome to visit anytime, even without Annabeth if he wanted, and he responded that he would take them up for the offer. He really did mean it, and wanted to get close to them. They seemed like those types of friends you can relax and chat with. They even gave Percy their phone number.
It was around 5:30 in the evening, and Percy was extremely depressed. Okay, maybe he was overexaggerating a little, but it made sense! There was no sun outside!
Annabeth and Percy were getting more and more wet with the rain, but they made it to the car in time.
Annabeth turned to her right, where Percy was sitting. " Let's go back to my apartment."
Percy groaned. "You promised I could spend time out with you!"
"When did I ever promise you anything!" Annabeth protested.
Percy pouted, but Annabeth didn't give in.
"It's raining, for Hades sake! For once, use common sense!"
Percy was stung. He was always known to be oblivious, and not the smartest, but it always hurt him a little. When he was young, he was bullied for being dyslexic, and the memories always came back to him on occasions like this, even if the other person didn't mean to cause harm.
He knew Annabeth didn't mean any offense, so he gave in, like any decent person would, instead of facing the wrath of sumo-wrestler Annabeth. That should really be advertised, Percy thought.
Realization then struck him. Annabeth, a random stranger, whose house he broke into, is taking him out for ice cream.
This woman was allowing a random stranger in her house for a day. And he was complaining.
Annabeth puffed a little air, after Percy apologized, which made the hair on her face fly up slightly.
They drove back to Annabeth's apartment silently, talking only a little bit about things here and there.
Fortunately, there was one umbrella in the car. Unfortunately, there was one umbrella in the car.
You might think, aww, this is going to be those classic love stories, where the boy and girl fall in love under an umbrella. Nope.
They fought over the umbrella, pushing towards each other.
"My right side is getting wet! Give it to me, it's mine!"
"My left side and head is getting wet! I need it more than you do!"
"Ugh!" They complained in unison.
Eventually they reached the apartment, and Annabeth unlocked the door, swinging it open. Annabeth had closed the umbrella long ago, so Annabeth walked in, Percy following behind her.
They both collapsed on the couch, exhausted, and tore off their shoes. Percy was almost unaware that this wasn't his house, and kicked his legs onto Annabeth's.
Annabeth wrinkled her nose in disgust, and shoved his feet off with a hard shove.
He complained," Hey!"
"Your feet smell disgusting! And w-were those socks white?"
Percy grinned. "Yep. They turned grey in two days."
Annabeth insincerely gagged, or literally did, Percy couldn't honestly tell.
"I-It smells absolutely disgusting!"
Percy had an idea.
"It does, huh? Maybe try smelling it again."
He kicked his legs toward Annabeth, close to her nose.
Their leg fight ended with them watching The Greatest Showman.
"They're too many songs, honestly."
Percy glared at her.
"The songs are emotional and beautiful, and they're wonderful."
Annabeth stared at him, then burst out laughing.
"Y-y-you've g-one minute-gotta b-be-HA- kidding me!"
She fell off the sofa, and was curling into a ball, holding her stomach.
Percy huffed. This was serious!
"Why are you laugh-no stop-stop!"
Annabeth paused, mirth filling her eyes, lip pressed together to prevent laughter.
"I'm serious. You've got to respect the characters."
Annabeth shakes her head with amusement.
"They're fictional characters. The actors are real, but the characters aren't real."
Of course this caused another full-blown argument, but somewhere in between, he knew they were teasing.
The both relaxed on the couch, in silence. Then Annabeth spoke up.
"You know, you're not as bad I thought. Annoying, irritating, yes. But not too bad."
Percy chuckled. "You're not as annoying as I thought too, Miss Chase."
She shoved him lightly on the shoulder, but he didn't doubt she could hit harder. He had experienced it himself.
They spent the rest of the day filling time up, playing games, tickling each other, baking, just doing whatever they could do, and when it was time to go to sleep, he's 100% sure he's made a friend.
Percy insisted he slept on the couch, and Annabeth immediately agreed, not giving him another choice.
Annabeth walked over to a basket near the fireplace, grabbed the blanket, and slowly covered Percy.
She grabbed two glasses of water, put one on the drawer next to the couch, and carried the cup in her left hand, near her chest.
She walked towards her bedroom, a place Percy knows too much about(unfortunately).
"Good night, Annabeth."
The words slipped out before he could stop himself. She stopped in her pace, still looking at her bedroom door.
"Good night, Percy."
There were two further sounds, the door opening, the door closing, and then silence.
Percy counted blue sheep that night.
When he woke up, the scent of pancakes filled the air. Nostalgia filled him, remembering when he was in middle school, waking up to the scent of pancakes. His mom would purposely put her apron in his face when waking him up. He wondered how he was still average weight with the amount of pancakes he eats.
He quickly walked into the kitchen, well, as quickly as he could after sleeping. His hair was ruffled, pointing towards all sides, and his eyes were drooping, so Percy had to lift them up every 30 seconds.
He went to the sink, without Annabeth permission, turned on the water tap, and splashed the cold water onto his face.
SPLAT.
"Ah, much better."
He didn't bother to dry his face, and sat on the kitchen stool closest to the pile of pancakes.
"Good morning, Percy. Up so early?"
He knew she was being sarcastic, he just decided to not speak.
Annabeth smiled, probably figuring out Percy was not a morning person.
"Want some pancakes?"
"Yes, please!"
Annabeth brought him a plate of pancakes, with a syrup and honey bottle on the side. While it wasn't a blue pancake, it still looked delicious.
"Orange juice, or milk?"
"...Orange juice?"
"Orange juice it is."
She brought out a carton of orange juice from the steel fridge, and poured a glass for Percy.
"So Percy," She said, while passing the glass to him," Tell me a little about yourself. I mean, you kind of blurted it all out yesterday, but what do you do in your everyday life."
Percy took a sip. Not too bad. So he took another.
"...Well aside from breaking into other people's houses and staying there for a day, I'm a marine biologist."
Annabeth cracked a small smile, and Percy felt accomplished.
"Well, that's a cool job. But mine's better."
"Oh yeah? What is it?" he challenged.
Annabeth smugly smiled. "An architect."
Percy chuckled in amusement. "Architect? That's cool. But nothing compared to marine biologist."
"Whatever."
"So you admit I'm right?"
"I didn't say that. I just don't want...want another scene where there's this emotional crybaby."
"Yeah, well...whatever."
"Exactly what I said."
At the end of breakfast, Percy was feeling disappointed that he had to leave. Somewhere in between, Jason had asked for the address again, and Percy considered writing the wrong address just to spend more time, but his friend was doing so much work for him, he decided to lay off.
Later, they heard a knock on the door, and Annabeth raced to get the door. She opened it, and Jason was standing there, looking down at his phone.
"Um hi, I think my phone is here-Annabeth!"
"Jason!"
Percy was befuddled. "What? How do you know each other?"
"We're friends. Well, she's closer to Piper, and we were going to introduce you guys, but you guys seemed to do it on your own."
Annabeth nodded along with Jason's surprise, but Percy could see that surprise on her face as well.
Percy rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. "Um…well, we should go."
He didn't want to.
Annabeth came out of her daze.
"Um...yeah, you guys should go."
She seemed to be thinking.
"But let me get Percy's coat first!"
He didn't have a coat, but Annabeth left before he could say anything.
She came back with a guy's jacket, he was sure wasn't his, and she shoved it into his pockets.
She reached up into his ear while doing so, and her warm breath made him feel tingling.
"Check the pockets," she whispered, then she immediately came down, and smiled, but almost sneakily.
"Bye, Percy."
"Bye…"
Jason and Percy exited the doorway, with Jason berating on how Annabeth and him were going to be introduced, but he was looking through the pockets of the jacket.
When checking the right pocket, he felt a sheet, small and smooth.
He picked it out, and read what it said.

Is 7:00 Tuesday good?
He turned towards the doorway where Annabeth was standing. She gave him a wink, and closed the door, leaving Percy dumb-founded.
He mentally wrote a note in his head.
Make sure to not forget the date.
The most unexpected events lead up to the most unexpected results.
Percy whistled all the way home.
a/n: wow, this was a rush! like wow! this was such a struggle to write. in between i was questioning myself if i should do it, but i was like, why not? and I got writer's block in the middle.
constructed criticism is 100000% allowed, please give me some, i'm begging for it.
the ending wasn't that good, but i just wanted to get rid of this story, so i posted it.
the phone number is not a phone number I know, so if you try to call it, you'll probably get some random person.
thank you, thank you, and thank you to anyone who decided you want to try my stories.
if anyone feels like randomly PM'ing me, go ahead, it won't be weird. i'm probably weirder than you, to be honest :)
i do have a few prompts in the future, thanks to a few readers/authors, but i would still love to check out your prompts.
i didn't curse in this story, so that's why it's rated K+, but it kind of decreases the emotion of situations, so for my next long story(hint hint!), it will probably be T.
if i were to say my favorite sentence i wrote in this story, it would 100% be : Percy counted blue sheep that night.
Like honestly, I just loved that sentence more than the whole story entirely.
review, please, it would be appreciated.
ok, bye! stay safe!
