This is my second story featuring an OC! *trumpet fanfare* (Yzla was already mentioned in the Isle of the Lost series but I just added to her character, so this is the third completely original OC after Rose and Klunk. :)
Warning: Blood/violence, language
A sinister red-lipped smile. A cold, evil glare above sharp cheekbones. Two-toned hair cascading onto fur-clad shoulders.
No, it was not Cruella De Vil.
Melanie De Vil hopped off the wall she was sitting on and smoothed her hair, black on the left and pale blonde on the right. Her eyes were, as if to enhance her double-sided hair, one blue and one green. Her furry jacket was undone to reveal a red top, the jacket was lined with strong pockets holding many knives for throwing at innocent creatures and not-so-innocent people. The daughter of Cecil De Vil, Cruella's infamous brother, was a dangerous person to know. With no gang, you would think she was easy prey, but anyone who tried to fight her ended up dying in a pool of blood, their skin criss crossed with intricate knife cuts.
She was proud to be a De Vil and embraced her family name (and the characteristic double-sided hair.) In fact, it was obvious to everyone that she was more like Cruella than her cousin Carlos would ever be. Her older brother Diego only cared about his lame band the Bad Apples, so she felt it was her duty to carry on the crazy, fur-loving path her aunt had paved. As a consequence, she hated Carlos for being a 'useless scaredy cat'.
But just because she was gangless, didn't mean she didn't have friends: "Mel!" called Freddie Facilier. The young voodoo magician was in Yzla's gang, but also hung out with Melanie; they didn't want to admit, but they were good friends.
"Hi Freddie, what's up?" Melanie replied.
"Nothing much. I was just bored and I wanted to catch up with you."
"Same." Melanie and Diego were some of the luckier VKs, because their father mostly left them to their own devices, so they were free to do what they wanted, instead of doing chores, stealing or pirating.
"Hey Mel, do you wanna go raid some goblin ships?" Freddie asked.
"That sounds great! I've been running low on throat-slitting knives." Melanie replied, doing a mental head-count of the knives she kept in her pockets.
The two girls headed off to the coast where the goblin ships were. Freddie overheard Clay Clayton talking to Hadie that the goblin ships were docking at the west side today instead of south. She told Melanie and they decided to go anyway, even though going to the west coast would mean entering Ginny Gothel's territory, and she didn't take kindly to intruders. Well, the voodoo expert and knife master didn't take kindly to attackers. They continued to the west coast, chatting sparingly. It wasn't until Freddie said "Stop." that Melnaie fully paid attention to her.
"What?" Melanie grumbled.
Freddie's eyes looked huge and shining in the dark. "I can feel someone's there." she whispered, concentrating hard on her magic instincts. (Magic didn't work on the Isle, but Freddie had a special instinct to tell whether someone was there, alive or otherwise.) Right on cue, they heard someone shuffle. Back to back, Freddie readied her fists and Melanie took out a long, lethal-looking knife. Then the world erupted.
Ginny's gang members were everywhere at once, and weapons were clashing as often as bodies were falling to the ground. Punching and cries of pain could be heard all around as the two girls tried desperately to fight off the crowd of random gang members. They had managed to get about half of them down, but the rest were closing in fast with various interesting and fatal weapons. Melanie and Freddie, unscathed apart from a few cuts and bruises, returned to their back to back formation and prepared. But they couldn't be prepared for what came next.
Ginny Gothel herself jumped down from a dilapidated building, accompanied by her main cronies Claudine Frollo, Mad Maddy and the Gaston twins. "Get back!" she commanded the other random gang members, who followed and slunk back into the shadows. She walked to Melanie and Freddie, a smile playing on her thin lips. "Well, well, well, what should I do with you?" she asked, slowly and menacingly.
Melanie scowled and replied "Why don't you take your time to decide before we beat the shit out of you?"
Ginny glared at her. "Fine, why don't we make this quick then? Grab them." she told her fellow gang members, and Melanie and Freddie were immediately held in vice-like grips by the Gastons, Maddy and Claudine. They grabbed Melanie's knife and chucked it into the path.
Melanie struggled and spat at Ginny furiously. "You fucking coward, you can't even fight me on your own."
Ginny looked angry. "Fine, I'll prove it to you." She told the Gastons to release her. Melanie immediately kicked them away and took out another knife. Ginny had a knife of her own and was beckoning her tauntingly. Melanie attacked and slashed at her, leaving deep cuts in her wake. Ginny yowled like a cat and returned the cuts, but Melanie was successful in dodging most of them. The fight was quick, Melanie was attacking well and she rammed her elbow into Ginny's face, knocking her to the floor.
She sat on her, pinning down her arms, and produced a sharp, thin knife from the inside of her jacket. She smiled insanely. "Now, let's make this extra slow, shall we?" Ginny gulped, but scowled furiously at Melanie. The first cut was painful, but not as painful as what was about to follow.
Ten minutes later and Ginny's arms and torso were more cuts than skin and she was feeling light-headed from loss of blood. Melanie was now bored so she decided to finish it. She pressed the knife to Ginny's throat and laughed evilly. Ginny remembered the knife in her hand, and as Melanie's knife started pressing into her throat, she used the last of her energy to stab it in her leg deep. Melanie screamed and immediately fell off her. Ginny could hear her cursing furiously as she sat up dizzily and commanded Claudine and Maddy to "Help me, then." The girls tore off pieces of their jackets and gave them to Ginny to bandage her arms with. Freddie had been released and was trying to help Melanie up. The pain was extreme and sickening, and every movement made it worse. After another attempt to stand up resulted in her almost passing out, Melanie sank to the floor, swearing. She dug her nails into her palms to distract herself from the pain. Then she tried again, and managed to stand up one foot, leaning against Freddie heavily. The first step made her scream in agony, but they got into a rhythm after a few more steps. They walked away from Ginny's territory for who knows how long, and by the time they were at the market, closed for the evening, Melanie was leaning almost her full weight on Freddie. She fell to the floor, panting, and the last thing she heard was Freddie ripping her jacket up before she blacked out.
The end of this oneshot! I might also do a sequel to this one, Melanie is a cool character and you will definitely be seeing more of her! I hope the warning was useful, sometimes I will write oneshots that require a warning so I will put this in.
IMPORTANT: I am going on holiday next Monday, so I will carry on updating my stories from there, but my updates might not be as frequent. I will try my best to make them regular though! Unicornyay xo
