Hi again! This chapter contains underage drinking, so if you don't feel comfortable reading that then skip this chapter. Enjoy!
I ducked past the rotten fruit stall and under some ripped fabrics. The man was still chasing me, so I legged it down the market until I crashed into someone. I fell to the floor painfully and looked up at who I'd crashed into. It was Jay, looking angry that I'd made him drop his loot.
"What do you think you're doing you idiot?" Jay growls.
"S-sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going…" Oh great, now I'm stammering again. Now he's going to think I'm even lamer.
"Well next time look." he threatened and cracked his knuckles. I gulped and got up from the floor. Jay terrified me, I don't know if it was the fact that he was fourteen with the build of a grown man, the fact that he towered over me and had biceps thicker than my neck, or the fact that he hated me even more than Mal did.
"Why were you even running?" he asked, picking up the loot I'd made him drop. "It's not like you're very fast," he scoffed.
"I was being chased by that man cos I tried to steal some bread." I said, pointing to him and scurrying behind Jay to hide when he turned towards me. Jay squinted at him for a moment, shoving me into the wall.
"That guy?"
"Y-yes." I answered, rubbing my hip where it had hit into the wall. The man started coming towards us. I squealed and tried to hide behind Jay again. This guy was huge! I mean HUGE. He was at least a foot taller than Jay and even Jay's muscles couldn't compare to him.
"Yo Ripper my man!'' Jay said, and fist bumped the scary guy, who grunted as a way of saying hello. Then the man saw me and scowled. Jay, remembering, told the guy that I was off limits and that I didn't even manage to steal the bread. I gaped at Jay. Why was he protecting me?
The night I had got into Mal's team, I had heard all the way from Hell Hall Mal and Jay arguing about me being on the team. The first time I had heard them disagree on something: Mal wanted me on the team as a human shield (I later found out how painful that was when we fought Ginny Gothel) but Jay wanted me out cos he said I was a 'useless annoying little weed'.
Now he didn't hate me as much, but he still thought I was pathetic and liked to push me around.
"Who's Ripper?" I asked, frightened.
"Oh, he's my bro. He knows my dad. Yo Ripper can you give us a ride?" Ripper grunted and Jay seemed to take it as a yes, so we got into a broken down old van.
I sat in the wonky seat uncomfortably. "Does Ripper talk?" I whispered.
"No, not since he got in a fight with eight guys and they ripped his tongue out." Jay answered casually.
I shuddered and turned to the window.
For some reason Jay looked at me for ages, thinking I couldn't see him, but I could in the reflection of the window, since it was dark outside. When I finally turned back around, he looked away.
"What was that for?" I asked, weirded out.
Jay went red. "Nothing." Was he embarrassed? I was even more confused now. "How many freckles do you have?" He asked out of nowhere. I mean what kind of a question was that?
But he was still older than me and super scary, so I answered "I don't know, I've ever counted."
After that there was just an awkward silence between us until Ripper pulled up with a squealing of brakes to Gaston's Manly Pub (men only). Jay was let in due to him looking much older than he actually is, but they wanted to chuck me out. Then Jay put his foot down and threatened them by telling them everything Cruella would do to them if I wasn't allowed in. The guys gulped and let me in.
We sat down at a wonky bar and Jay ordered two bottles of beer. The guy that handed them to us had many facial tattoos and piercings, and creepy looking eyes.
Jay eagerly gulped his beer down and I left mine alone. I had never drunk alcohol before and I didn't like the smell of it.
A couple of hours had passed and I was increasingly uncomfortable. Jay had chatted to me about random stealing techniques and fighting stuff, but I couldn't concentrate because I was too scared he'd suddenly change moods and return to the old brain-duster-giving Jay. It weirded me out when he wasn't being horrible because I didn't know if he'd revert back again. I also couldn't hear half his words over the noise of LeFou Deux singing to the Gastons.
"Jay, where are we going to go? My mom will need me in the morning." I said.
"My dad's out with his old friends, we can sleep at mine." I was weirded out that he was ok with me sleeping at this place because one time we all had to sleep at Jafar's and he didn't even let me in.
Jay had ordered another bottle from the creepy guy by now while I sat and tried not to have a panic attack from all the noise and shouting.
He put the bottle to his lips again and I huddled in my seat. I really didn't like this place. There were scary, drunk men everywhere, not a single one younger than thirty, and they were all really loud and at least twice the size of Jay, who looked completely relaxed.
In fact the first guy I saw that was even remotely close to our age was Harry Hook, smoking. He went up to Jay and offered him the joint (clearly too high to remember that Jay was his worst enemy) but Jay refused, saying that Mal didn't allow us to get high because she needed us alert.
I looked at the wonky clock in the corner, it was half past one and I was getting tired; we had been here for hours.
"Jay, can we go? I really don't like it here." I asked. Jay ignored me and started talking to Hadie. Eventually they stopped chatting and I asked Jay again if we could go.
"Uuuuhhhh fine, you're no fun." he replied, sounding a bit out of it. We left the pub, Jay just took a bottle with him. I scurried out eagerly, glad to be out of there. The night was cold and as we started walking back to Jafar's, Jay was acting weird and I realized he must be drunk.
It took me longer to notice because when my mom was drunk, she was even more insane than usual, but Jay wasn't really that different. We had been walking for a couple of minutes when Jay tripped and grabbed the wall.
The bottle he was holding crashed to the floor, but he didn't seem to notice. I was getting really worried by now, the middle of the night is the most dangerous time on the Isle and I needed Jay to protect me, but he was so out of it I doubt he could throw a good punch. "Jay come on, please, let's just go back to Jafar's."
"NO."
I tried to pull on his arm but I wasn't strong enough. Somehow I managed to point him in the general direction of Jafar's Junk Shop and we got about halfway when the Gastons leapt down in front of us, grinning. Uh oh. They must have followed us from the pub.
I gulped, there was no way I could fight them and I didn't even know if Jay could.
They didn't even talk, just strolled towards us and then Gaston the third grabbed me in a headlock and punched me in the face. I felt my nose crunch and blood run down my face. He punched me again and I knew I was going to have a black eye.
I tried to wriggle out of his grip, but he was too strong and kicked me in the stomach. I doubled over, winded, then he kicked me a few times and left me alone. This surprised me, because normally they would take joy in beating me up and would do it a lot worse. Then I realized that he had gone to help his brother beat up Jay, who was still winning against Gaston Junior, even in his intoxicated state.
Then Gaston the third walked up behind Jay and grabbed him, pinning his arms down so he couldn't move. From my position curled up on the floor, I could hear Jay swearing and threatening them, but they just laughed before Gaston Junior started punching him.
Punch. Jay's nose spurted a fountain of red to match mine. Punch. He lost his breath as they kneed him in the stomach. I tried to get them off him, but they just swatted me to the side and wouldn't budge.
This went on and on, until they got bored and didn't pay attention to Jay much, which gave him the opportunity to duck under Gaston the third's arm and punch Gaston Junior in the face. Before they could do anything, Jay grabbed a piece of corrugated iron from the ground and hit them on the head with it. They immediately fell to the floor unconscious, while Jay lost his balance and fell down too.
I helped Jay up, he needed it because his balance was off because of the alcohol and the beating, and we slowly made it to Jafar's Junk Shop. We knew that Jafar was out with some of his old Agrabah friends, so I led Jay instead of sleeping under his usual shelf, we went into Jafar's room and he lay down on the double bed and fell asleep immediately.
I considered curling up on the floor near the bed, but it was really uncomfortable and the bed was quite big, so I cautiously got in with Jay. It wasn't too cold, but I snuggled up to him anyway. Maybe I liked him a bit, but he didn't have to know that yet.
The next morning I woke up and stretched like a cat, then got up out of bed. There was a shelf with various random trinkets on it, I checked a pocket watch and it said 10:30. I suppose because my mom was at the spa for a few days, I didn't have to do chores all day.
The list that she had given me was quite repetitive, I could get away with doing each of the chores once and she wouldn't notice, this meant I had at least some free time on my hands, so I didn't freak out at how late I slept.
Jay stirred and woke up, immediately clutching his head. I could tell he had a killer hangover, so I whispered to him. "Want some water?"
"Mhm."
I went outside to the tap and filled up a cracked mug for him. As he drank it, complaining about his headache, I might have looked at him a little too long. He looked exhausted and his hair was everywhere, but I still found him quite hot. But he didn't need to know that yet.
Yes, this is Jaylos! :) It's my favourite Descendants ship by far! But because these oneshots aren't really linked, not all of them will be Jaylos, because they're all totally separate. If you want me to do some ships, leave a review and I'll try to get them in. Let me know if you want more Jaylos, I know I do! Have a great day :) unicornyay xo
