They were silent for a few moments, then Carlos whispered, "I knew it."

"And I know what we have to do," Mal said confidently, thinking about her dream. She knew that it was important, but didn't know how.

"We have to go to the Isle," she said, looking her friends in the eyes.

The others' jaws dropped.

"Mal why do we have to go to the Isle?" Evie asked, looking baffled as to why her best friend would want to return to their childhood home.

"To get something," Mal said, simply and mysteriously. "But first, we have to do some research, and get some help."

"Who do we need help from?" Evie asked.

"Uma, Gil, and Harry," Mal said simply. "Come one, let's go!"

"Wait, wait," Jay said. "Why do we need those three?"

Mal sighed. "I'm tired and you're dumb. Carlos, please explain."

"The entrance to the barrier is always guarded, in case some really bad villains try to escape or do something evil. The only way we could get there is by ocean, and in case you haven't noticed none of us can swim, or have boats. Those three on the other hand..."

Jay nodded and muttered, "I knew that."

"No," Evie said, raising her eyebrow and grinning a bit. "No you did not."

They all went to the flat where Gil, Uma, and Harry were staying. Because none of the VKs had any money, Ben had given all of them and their families homes with six months of free rent. Currently, Uma and Harry were working at a restaurant while Gil had a job at the gym.

Their flat was nice, a neat sea green building with plants around it and white curtains. A large apple tree was in the front and the door was reddish-brown.

Mal knocked on the door a few times before a tired-looking Uma opened it. She was dressed in a dark blue T-shirt and gray shorts, and frowned in surprise when she saw them.

"Whatever has made you decide to wake me up in the middle of the night better be worth it," she said, slightly threatening.

Mal was tempted to say that it was technically three a.m. but figured that would only annoy Uma more and instead said, "This requires Harry and Gil too."

"I'll wake them," Uma said, a bit of a wicked grin on her features. The Core Four walked into the living room and sat down. Hardly a second later, they heard a few yelps and Uma laughing.

When the three walked in, Uma was smirking and the boys looked annoyed.

"Was it possible to wake us up like a normal person?" Harry muttered darkly.

"Without the pillow hitting?" Gil added.

"But that wouldn't be nearly as fun!" Uma complained playfully, grinning. The three of them sat down on the couch, and Harry put her arm around Uma's shoulders, while she leaned into him.

"So, what's up?" Harry asked.

"Yeah, I've honestly been wondering the same thing," Evie said, leaning forward, "You've been very mysterious about this whole thing."

Mal took a deep breath and began.

"Well, turns out all spells lose power during an eclipse. They stay like that for twenty-four hours, and then everything is back to normal."

"There was an eclipse today," Uma recalled, and her eyes widened. "Mal, if every spell broke that includes the one on your mother. Is Maleficent free?"

They all turned to look at the purple-haired Fae as she nodded gravely.

"And I know how to stop her. Well, sort of. I had a dream where we were on the Isle and there was this purple orb thing. We need to find out what it is, because I'm positive it has something to do with this all."

The seven of them had decided that, to be safe, they would be using Belle's library. Mal had a key to Castle Beast, and they arrived through the small, secret backdoor it opened.

The nineteen-year-olds crept up the stairs to the library, all of them holding their breath as though someone would hear them. While Mal was allowed to be here, it would be hard to explain why she and six of her friends were in the castle at three in the morning, all looking like they had just gotten out of bed.

The library doors were big, but they moved quietly and smoothly so they were all able to slip in silently and lock the door behind them.

"Okay, everyone spread out!" Mal breathed, lighting a lantern. "See if you can find anything about eclipses or a magic purple and blue orb!"

By the time someone actually found something, the sun was rising.

"I found it!" Jay shouted, and was quickly shushed.

Lowering his voice, he said, "I found a passage on the orb in this book. Check it out."

Mal grabbed the book and pulled it towards her before reading out loud.

" 'The Orb of Eclipse,' " Evie gasped at the name, " 'is one of the most powerful magic artifacts in the world. It is the only thing that can withstand the magic of an eclipse and any other magic. Most of the time it just looks like a glass ball, but it is unbreakable and only looks magic when tried to be repressed. Many have tried to steal it or use it to their selfish will, but only someone with the relation to the gods and no human blood can use it.' This is it! The picture matches what was in my dream! And I can use it! I'm half god and half Fae! Not a drop of human blood!"

"This is how we defeat Maleficent," Carlos smiled. "We can do this!"

The seven hurried home to get dressed in their leather Isle clothes and met back at Evie's castle. While they waited for Jay, the six sat around and did their own thing.

Uma and Harry were sitting next to each other and talking, Gil was toying around with a chain on his belt, Evie was working on a dress, Mal was sketching something, and Carlos was dialing a number on his phone.

This is Jane! I'm busy or can't find my phone right now, so please leave a message and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Carlos sighed and Mal asked, "Whatcha doin'?"

"Trying to call Jane. She's not picking up, and I'm worried."

"Uh, it's five a.m." Evie reminded him. "I don't think Jane can pick up right now."

Mal bit her lip, thinking of when she heard the scream. But she shook it off and turned to Carlos, saying, "Why are you checking on Jane?"

"Maleficent is loose. Jane has magic, she could be targeted," Carlos reminded.

"I'm sure she's fine," Harry reassured, glancing at Uma. What would he do if she was kidnapped by Maleficent? Clearly knowing what he was thinking about, Uma took his hand gently and smiled at him.

"Okay," Jay said, walking in at the perfect time. "Sorry it took a while. Lonnie nearly woke up."

Lonnie had been gone last year because of a R.O.A.R. scholarship, and was returning for the summer. She and Jay were living together, but she was a light sleeper.

"Okay, so we're all ready?" Mal said, standing and clapping her hands together.

The seven of them walked behind Evie's castle, and arrived at the beach. Across the ocean was the Isle of the Lost, and they all stared at it.

Mal sighed. She knew what was resting on this, she knew what Maleficent could do to Auradon. And she was scared. But she had to put that fear aside, because the future of everyone is Auradon and the Isle was at stake.
