Sorry, I couldn't resist the opportunity in the title. This will not be related to or based on When Harry Met Sally... though. I've also never been to a seminar, so forgive me.

When Paul got to the writing seminar, he chose the first seat he saw. He didn't regret it, as the woman occupying the seat next to him was fascinating. He looked at her, and noticed that everything around her was blue. Her bag was blue, as were her pencils, her notebook and the T-Shirt she wore. She also had blue eyes that sparkled, and she looked very eager to learn.

"Hi, I'm Paul" He held out his hand

"Sally. Nice to meet you." She took it.

"Really big fan of blue, huh?" She blushed a little.

"My son heard that I wanted to expand my education, and he went out and bought a bunch of supplies for me. But yeah." They chatted idly about books and writing for a couple minutes, then the seminar started. Sally had lots of questions, but also lots of answers. He was fascinated by her. He learned that she had a 13 year old son, but wasn't married. Hmmm, I wonder if she shared that particular fact on purpose. After the seminar was over, he decided to take a chance.

"Would you maybe like to get a cup of coffee?" He asked nervously. Sally seemed to be thinking about it for a moment before smiling and repiling.

"Sure, I'd love too"

Paul and Sally's relationship moved pretty fast after that. She talked about her son a lot. He had dyslexia and ADHD, and had been kicked out of seven schools, but when she spoke of him, her eyes sparkled. You would think he was the president of the world.

One day when he was over at her apartment, there was a knock on the door.

"Mom!" A voice called out "I'm home"

Sally jumped up, looking relieved and happy. A teenager with raven black hair and sea green eyes walked in. The strange thing about him was that he had a very prominent streak of grey in his hair.

"Percy! You're home!" She ran over to him "How are the new kids, Nico and Bianca?"

Percy's eyes welled up, and he buried his face in his mother's shirt. They stayed like that for a little while, then Sally pulled away and looked at him, worry evident in her eyes.

"I'm assuming that the grey isn't a fashion choice?"

"Atlas" He said simply

"Oh, sweetie..."

"It's okay. I'm okay, Annabeth's okay."

Sally, remembering Paul, turned to him and said "Paul, this is my son, Percy. Percy, Paul."

"Nice to meet you Paul" Percy said, the easy smile on his face a stark contrast to his expression a minute ago.

"If this isn't a good time, I can go..." Paul trailed off

"No, it's fine, you can stay." Percy smiled

"Okay, Percy, I'm going to go get you some cookies. You can talk with Paul." She smiled. When she left, his expression hardened

"Listen to me. My mother hasn't had the best luck in life, and she deserves much more than she's got. I like you so far, you seem like a cool guy, but I swear to the gods that if you hurt my mother you will have me to deal with. And my scary friends. Got it?" He said

"I love your mother, I would never hurt her." Paul said nervously, and Percy smiled.

"Good. Then I think we'll get along great. Do you like Greek Mythology, Paul?"

"Yeah. I think it's really interesting." He said

"Huh. What's your favorite myth?"

"I like the story about the titanomachy, and the events leading up to it. Not particularly pleasant, but what myth is?" Paul didn't really expect Percy to know what he was talking about, but the boy was nodding with understanding.

"I like the part of the Odyssey where Odysseus says his name is Nobody to fool Polyphemus." He smiled, like he was thinking of an inside joke. Sally walked in with a plate of cookies, that strangely were blue.

"What about you, Mom? What's your favorite myth?" Percy asked her.

"Well, Perseus of course!" She said, giving him a kiss on the top of his head.

"Because he has a happy ending." Percy said, looking sad.

"I thought that now that Thalia was here..." Sally said, looking worried

"She joined the hunters. She'll never be 16." Paul wondered what the significance of this was, but it seemed touchy.

"We'll talk about this later. Paul, would you like a cookie?" She held the plate out to him, and he took one apprehensively.

"Blue?" Now that he thought about it, Sally did seem to eat a lot of blue food.

"It's a family thing" Percy said, grinning. "Mom's always had her streak of rebellion."

"Rebellion against what?" Percy shared a looked with Sally, as if asking for permission. She gave a small nod.

"My old stepfather said there was no such thing as blue food, so know everything we eat is blue. Also it's my favorite color." This stepfather didn't seem particularly pleasant.
