Star Wars x Project Blue Book 1

The sky was dark as a beautiful streak of fire sailed downward. The occupant struggled to control her decent.

"Mayday, Mayday! Does anyone read? This is Jedi Padawan Kai Leanne, requesting immediate assistance! HELLO!?"

Nothing but static on all known frequencies.

"Damn it!"

Kai Leanne yanked the controls hard to avoid hitting some trees that had suddenly had come into view. The controls were stuck and nothing was working as it should, which wouldn't been that big of a deal except for the fact that her ship was literally hurtling through the atmosphere as a fiery ball of death.

Kai clenched her teeth to the point of breakage as she sort-of-successfully crash-landed. Her fighter carved a big path through a cluster of trees, and she was barely able to keep herself from rocking forward. The Padawan leapt out of the still burning fighter and, with quick movements, pulled out an extinguisher and put out the flames. She took initiative and put out the flames that had leapt from her fighter to the trees and grass surrounding her. Once they were gone, Kai collapsed to her knees as she tried to calm her racing heart.

Despite the situation, she started to chuckle at her near-death experience.

"Well, L-15, looks like we made it in relatively one…...pi…" The teen trailed off when, as she stood, she glanced up and saw the smoking remains of her astromech that had been gifted to her. Anger, full and bright, bubbled up suddenly as she let loose on the remains of her ship.

"Grrrrrrr. Kriff. This. God. Damn. Whole. Fucking. Thing!" she accented each word with a kick to the wing of her fighter. She kicked and kicked until she kicked too hard and banged her toe a little on a piece of metal. "OOOOOW!"

Kai collapsed onto the ground, feeling a bit overwhelmed and ready to cry. She wiped the tears away that threatened to fall, taking a deep breath as she listened to the sounds of the forest around her. Kai could also hear the simmering of the hot metal mingling in with the nightly noise. Her dark almond shaped eyes glanced up to the sky that she had just fell from. Fear curled inside of her as she glanced back towards the wreckage of her ship and realization that she was stuck hit.

No. I'm not going to be like this. She thought with a shake of her head. Kai tied off her lekku to where they weren't hitting her in the back. I am a Jedi Padawan. I can do this. I've been training for this my entire life.

"Alright." She whispered to herself. "I've got this."

Kai couldn't do anything until first light. Plus, she was exhausted from the adrenaline leeching out of her body, leaving a bone-dead-tired feeling that she had sadly gotten used to throughout the entirety of the war. She wouldn't be able to do anything about her fighter until light.

Until then….

Well, until then, Kai would have to get comfortable somewhere. It wouldn't do to just sprawl on the ground in the middle of the forest with unknown predators around. So, she decided that she would try to get some sleep in one of the unbroken trees that surrounded the crash site. Kai dug through the cockpit in search for ropes or something like that. There was an elastic cord that she figured would work.

Hopefully, she won't fall off the tree if she dozed off.

Hopefully.

She could only hope.

Kai climbed a tree that would give her a good vantage point where she could keep an eye on her ship but where she was hidden from those that could sneak up on her.

"Heh. Not going to be able to sneak up on me if I'm where they can't see me." She chuckled to herself as she started to scale the tree. Kai then paused halfway up, blinking when she realized that she had just talked to herself. "Eh. Not like I've down that before."

Kai scaled the tree until she was at the biggest, lowest branch that she could reach. She quickly strapped herself in with the elastic cord and settled in. Her eyes went down to the ruined strip of land that had been ruined by her crash landing. Kai tiredly rubbed her face. She was coming down from the adrenaline spike that had started from the time that she entered battle but now was starting to slow down.

Leaning back in the branch, pulling the cord a bit tighter around her waist just as a precaution as she settled and closed her eyes in preparation of the next morning.
