Inside the Pyramid

Alexa Weyland POV

''What is all this?'' Dad asks.

''This is the sacrificial chamber.'' Seb says.

''Like the Aztecs and the Egyptians. Whoever built this pyramid, believed in ritual sacrifice. This is where the chosen ones were offered to the gods.'' Thomas says.

''Those that were chosen would lie here. They weren't bound or tied in any way. They went to die willingly. Men and women. It was considered an honor.'' Seb says.

''Lucky them.'' Lex says.

''Oh gosh, look at this. A skull and spinal column in one piece. Look at this. Look at the cleanness of the cut. No abrasions. It's probably just the air moving through the tunnels'' Miller says and adds when we hear something.

''Maybe.'' Seb says and Miller screams when something almost falls on him.

''Whatever it is has been dead awhile. The bones have calcified'' Miller says.

''No idea how long it's been here. The ice has preserved it. Maybe a scorpion?'' Seb says.

''No. Climate's too hostile for a scorpion.'' Lex says.

''Ever seen anything like it?'' Seb asks.

''They gave their lives so the hunt could begin.'' Thomas translates.

''What happened here?'' Adele asks.

''It's common in ritual sacrifice to take the heart of the victim.'' Tom says as I go back over there.

''That's nice. But that's not where your heart is. Besides it looks like the bones were bent straight out. Something broke out of this body.'' Adele says.

''What have you found Max?'' dad asks.

''It's a shaft to another level. Looks like there's another room down there.'' Max says.

''Let's move to that lower room Max.'' dad says.

''We're moving on everyone. Ms. Woods. You stay here. Rousseau you stay with him. Keep a team with you. Catalogue everything. Professor. Alexandra.'' Max says.

''This should be directly below the sacrificial chamber. Sebastian.'' Lex says when we get there.

''It's a sarcophagus. This is the Long Count. This is the Aztec calendar. And this it's some kind of combination lock. Days. Months. Years. The dials are set for... Someone set this in 1904.'' Seb says.

''Someone opened this a hundred years ago?'' Lex asks.

''What's today's date?'' Seb asks.

''10-10.'' Lex says.

''10-10-2004.'' Seb says.

''Are you sure this is going to work?'' dad asks.

''I don't know.'' Seb says.

''Back up!'' Lex says.

''Oh my God. Take a look at this.'' Seb says.

''Any idea what these are?'' Miller asks.

''No. You?'' Seb asks.

''No.'' Miller says.

''It's a good thing we brought the experts.'' Max says sarcastically.

''Well yeah. It is a good thing. 'Cause this is like finding Moses' DVD collection.'' Miller says.

''Weyland? Weyland?'' Lex asks.

''A little too much excitement.'' dad says.

''We've been out long enough for today. We'll set up base camp at the whaling station and get back at it tomorrow morning.'' Lex says and I nod my thanks.

''Well you can go back to the base camp Ms. Woods but we're staying here.'' Stafford says ad then I deliver a high enough kick to bruise if not sprain his jaw. The jerk.

''No. You wanted to leave without proper prep. We did. You wanted to be the first here. We are. You've claimed the find. It's yours. Now we move as a team and we're done for the day.'' Lex says, hiding a smirk.

''You heard her.'' dad says.

''What do you wanna do with these Mr. Weyland?'' Stafford asks, glaing at me.

''Take them. We'll run further tests on the surface.'' dad says.

I start to try and stop them as it might be booby trapped.

''No. No! Don't touch them.'' Seb says.

''Watch out!'' we women say.

''The doors!'' Seb says.

''The door!'' Lex says.

The doors all close on us except I made it out and will soon see three Yautja.

With Thomas' group

''You okay?'' Thomas asks.

''Yeah. Slab's gotta weigh two tons. We'll never move it. What did you say this room was called?'' Adele asks Thomas.

''Sacrificial chamber.'' Tommy says.

The leathery thig start to come out of nowhere and hatch.

With Weyland's group

''Rousseau.'' Lex calls over the walkie-talkie.

''Tommy come in.'' Sebastian calls.

''Come in Rousseau.'' Lex calls.

''Come in.'' Sebastian calls.

''Is there anything you didn't tell me about this place?'' Lex asks.

''Nothing. Your guess is as good as mine.'' Weyland says.

''Whatever it is we're not prepared. We're gonna round up the rest of the team and get to the surface. Let's move. What are you doing?'' Lex says

''My job. Yours is over.'' Stafford says.

''My job is over when everyone is back on the boat safely. And that gun doesn't change anything.'' then walks off, knowing she'll be followed. ''This bearing should take us back to the entrance. We'll regroup at the whaling station.'' Lex says later at another part of the pyramid.

''What about Thomas? Rousseau?'' Sebastian asks.

''We'll find them on the way up.'' Lex says.

''Max?'' Weyland asks.

''Stone, Verheiden. Cover our backs.'' Stafford says.

''The heat bloom your satellite detected makes more sense now Mr. Weyland.'' Miller says.

''What do you mean?'' Weyland asks.

''Well a building this sophisticated requires an energy source. I think that's what your satellite detected. A power plant for this pyramid firing up. Preparing.'' Miller says.

''Preparing for what?'' Weyland asks.

''Gentlemen?'' Lex says.

With Alex Weyland

''Oh crud. Keep yourself hidden.'' I tell myself, not noticing one appear before me until I have sharp knives pointed at me.

''Couldn't say no for both me and Aurora. But no, I felt a little bad for dad since he's sick and wants to spend the remaining days with his daughters.'' I grumble.

One of them plays what I said in a recording that sounds like gibberish.

I see something headed towards them and before I know it, I am holding its head and the predator aliens look at me with shock and now I am worried that I did something wrong.

They gesture if I would be okay to have a mark on my face or forehead. I let them mark me on my cheek with unknowingly, Cel'tic's family mark. I feel kinda weird around Cel'tic. But a good weird.
