Dean couldn't sleep. He was worried about Summer. They hadn't seen her in awhile. He knew Alyssa called to check in with her from time to time.
"Now who's the one who can't sleep", he turned to see his wife coming downstairs.
"Summer's the wild card here. If she tells the truth it helps us out a lot, but if she doesn't…", he sighed.
"It fucks everything up", Alyssa finished for him.
He nodded.
"I want to keep you and the kids safe, especially now with you pregnant. Lizzie, I can't even imagine something happening to her. She will be too small", he rambled.
"Babe, come here", she said, taking his hand.
He sat beside her.
"Lizzie is perfectly safe inside me, and the kids are safe. Wade is here, your mom and Ric. Your brother.", she said.
"I know", he nodded.
"He is not getting near us.", she added.
As everyone was being seated, Dolph had a smirk on his face. The judge went over what happened the day before, then let Lana call her next witness.
"We call, Summer Rae to the stand", she said.
Summer had completely changed. Her hair was different and she looked healthier in a way. They swore her in and Lana walked over to her to ask her questions.
"Miss Rae, how long did you work for Mr. Ziggler?", Lana asked.
"About ten years", Summer answered.
"So then you know him well? You met his first wife? His girlfriends?", Lana asked.
Summer nodded.
"Yes to all of it", she replied.
"His first wife, Kelly. What was she like?", Lana asked.
"She was very sweet, funny, and smart. She caught onto what Dolph was doing and tried to cut him off", Summer said.
"What do you mean when you say, what he was doing?", Lana asked.
"Sleeping with prostitutes, and…", Summer stopped.
Dean noticed how she glanced at Dolph.
"Go on Miss Rae", Lana said.
Summer cleared her throat.
"He would kill them, have Konnor and Viktor clean it up. They always did because he paid them well", Summer continued.
Everyone started mumbling. Dolph shifted in his seat.
"So what happened to Kelly after that?", Lana asked.
"He killed her", Summer replied.
Gasps were heard around the room. Dolph stood.
"Objection, I would have never hurt my wife. I loved her", Dolph shouted.
"Denied, Mr. Ziggler. Sit down please", the judge said.
"Then what happened after that Summer?", Lana asked.
"I noticed the women he was bringing home reminded me so much of Kelly. It started off with small features", Summer said.
"Fast forward a few years, then what?", Lana asked.
"He comes back to his apartment telling me he's met someone. Her name is Alyssa. He said she was different and wouldn't try to leave him the way Kelly did. I was afraid for her because I knew what he could do if she was rebellious like Kelly", Summer said.
"And was she?", Lana asked.
"Afraid so.", Summer said.
"Then what happened?", Lana asked.
"I told her if she would just listen to him, he wouldn't hurt her anymore. That's all he needed to know, was that she would listen and never leave him", Summer said.
Lana nodded.
"Is that why you didn't leave?", Lana asked.
Summer nodded.
"I was afraid that he would hurt me too, or worse, kill me. Its why I did everything he wanted me too. I wasn't strong enough to run.", Summer said.
"Till Alyssa helped you", Lana added.
Summer nodded and found Alyssa in the crowd.
"Yeah, she helped me.", Summer said.
"Do you think Mr. Ziggler is capable of kidnapping Alyssa's daughter to get back at her?", Lana asked.
"I do.", Summer replied.
"No further questions", Lana said, before taking her seat.
Dolph stood and angrily stopped over to Summer. She shifted in her seat.
"So if it is proven that I did kill so many women, as everyone likes to point out, does that mean that you helped me?", Dolph asked.
"I guess so, but…", he cut her off.
"You guess? So did I kill those women or not? Or are you just guessing again?", Dolph asked.
"No, I…", he cut her off again.
"No I didn't kill those women, or no you didn't help me?", Dolph asked.
"You, I…", Summer stopped.
Dolph smirked.
"Your honor, its clear here that Miss Rae is only guessing, as she put it.", Dolph said.
"Miss Rae?", the judge asked.
Dolph went to sit down, thinking Summer wouldn't talk.
"I helped, in a way. I should have gone to the cops, but I didn't. I was scared. I will take whatever punishment comes next for my crimes in helping.", Summer said.
The judge nodded and Dolph rolled his shoulders.
"You can step down now, Miss Rae", the judge said.
Summer nodded and did just as was asked of her.
"I think that's all for today. I will see everyone back here tomorrow", the judge said.
He stood and left. Dwayne and Lillian stayed closed to Summer. Dolph rolled his eyes before walking out. Alyssa hugged Summer.
"You did so good, and we are so proud of you. You stood up to him, Summer and that's a big step", Alyssa said.
Summer smiled.
"We are taking her back to Boston. We know she will be safe there, at least till Dolph is behind bars.", Dwayne said.
"Then when he is, we will help her find work.", Lillian added.
"That's great. We are here for you always, Summer.", Dean said.
"Thanks, that means a lot to me", Summer smiled.
While driving home, Alyssa noticed a car following them since they left the court house.
"Dean", she said, before looking away from the car.
He looked over at her.
"Yeah?", he asked.
"That black BMW has been following us since we left", she said.
Dean looked around, but saw no car.
"Where?", he asked.
She looked back in the mirror, but the car was gone.
"I could have sworn…", she sighed and shook her head.
He smiled.
"You're letting him get to you.", he said.
"Maybe", she mumbled, her eyes back on the mirror.
No car still. Maybe she just imagined it.
Alyssa had invited her mom over for dinner. She was next on the witness list. They sat in the back yard on the swing Dean had made for her.
"Mom, I need to know that you are mentally stable to talk tomorrow. That you won't defend him like many times before", Alyssa said, rubbing her bump.
Her mom looked over at her.
"Of course not. I will admit to my mistakes before, but I've gotten help.", she replied.
Alyssa nodded.
"Is Dean worried?", her mom asked.
"A little bit.", Alyssa mumbled.
"Well, you can tell him he doesn't have to worry. I promise Lys, I won't let him get away with this again", her mom said.
Alyssa reached over and took her mom's hand.
"Dad is talking tomorrow too. If you want, he can go first", Alyssa said.
"No. I want to be the first up.", her mom said.
Alyssa nodded.
