Chapter 3: Disney Town Part 3
In a white room, where there are thirteen high seats of different heights, there are three people in the room. One of them was Axel, the other two are black-cloaked figures. They seem to be in some kind of debate.
Axel: NO WAY! It's too soon! You can't seriously get rid of him!
No. III: It's an order. Why do you hesitate? You, who have been ruthless towards those, who turned against the Organization.
Axel: But it's not like that! He didn't betray us. He can't come back!
No. III: If he doesn't return, you know what you must do. Or you will face the consequences.
No. III summons a blue lance in midair. The one end of the lance shows a cross-shaped symbol, the other ends with what looks like a creature with sharp teeth. He telekinetically threw it at the right side of Axel, who didn't even flinch. The leader, No. I stretched his hand out, telling No. III to stop. The lance at the side of Axel disappears, as No. I stretched his hand at him, charging up dark energy at him.
Axel: So, you'll turn me into a Dusk. Alright, I'll do it! If that's what you want.
No. I stops charging, as Axel left the room. Meanwhile, Roxas was having a dream of him falling through space and wakes up to find himself in his room. He had a dream of himself talking to Kairi. Could this be another connection to Sora himself?
Roxas: I must be dreaming. But which parts...were the dream?
He quickly got dressed and left his home.
The 5th Day
Roxas returns to the secret place. Minnie was standing in front of Mickey and Donald with her hands on her hips. She then walks to Roxas, crossing her arms.
Roxas: What's wrong, Minnie?
Minnie: We have an assignment to do. But Mickey won't do it.
Mickey: But we got 3 days of summer vacation left.(Sweatdrops)And I wish you didn't mention that assignment.
Minnie: But you promised that we finish it today.
Roxas: Guys, did you even remember about yesterday, when I fell off the tower?
Mickey: You wouldn't be here if you did.
Donald: That was a close one.
Minnie: Will you guys stop changing the subject?
She walks up to Mickey with her eyes glittering unhappily.
Minnie: Please, Mickey? For me?
Mickey: OK. You win, Minnie.
Minnie ran up to Mickey and hugs him.
Mickey: So, got any ideas for our topic?
Roxas: How about we study what is happening to me? You know...the dreams I had and the guys in white.
Mickey: Sorry, Roxas. We can't.
Roxas: Why not?
Mickey: Things have been weird with you and the town, since the photos were stolen.
Donald: How about we search the town and find out what has been going on?
Minnie: Alot of people are helping out.
Roxas: All that for me? Wait here! I'll get some ice cream!
He quickly ran out. When he returns, they were all having blue ice cream. Donald then thought of something.
Donald: There's this strange rumor going around. Wanna hear it?
Mickey: Go ahead, buddy.
Donald: You know the stone steps at sunset station? We use them all the time without even thinking about it. But this is the weird part. The steps count differently going up and down.
Mickey: Really?
Donald: And there are six other weird stories like that. It's like...the seven wonders of Disney Town.
Mickey: Donald, you're a genius! We could use that for our school project!
Donald: There might be other rumors around here as well. Let's split up! I'll look for the seven wonders.
Mickey: Minnie and I will look for new rumors.
Donald: That leaves me and Roxas. Let's try the train first. To the station!
Roxas and Donald ran to the central station.
Donald: The time has come. Our hunt for the seven wonders begins.
Mickey and Minnie follows Roxas and Donald.
Mickey: Find any new rumors already?
Minnie: There's nothing on market street.
Mickey: Say, you guys aren't going to scoop us. We're going to the terrace with you.
Minnie: Mickey, it's not a race!
Mickey: It is now!
Roxas chuckles.
Roxas: Come on, we'll all go.
They all ran to the train. Roxas was sitting next to Donald, while Mickey and Minnie are sitting across them. Minnie pulls out her crystal ball and held it up. Mickey and Donald did the same thing. Roxas decides to do the same thing, but he suddenly panics. He doesn't have it. He searched his back pockets, but still found nothing. He sighs sadly and sat down. When the train stops, Mickey came out first.
Mickey: Let's go, Minnie!
Mickey and Minnie ran off. Roxas and Donald got off after that. Roxas and Donald were about to go down the steps, until they stopped and looked at the steps.
Roxas: Hey, Donald. Aren't these the steps you talked about?
Donald: Actually, it's the stupidest thing ever, but...
Roxas: What is it?
Donald: To tell you the truth, Rai is the one who counted them. He said "Every time I counted, it's different, you know."
He laughs at that.
Roxas: So...he just counted wrong?
Donald: Don't worry. Let's find the other six.
Roxas began to search around town and came down the alleyway to a dead end. He inspects it, then all of a sudden, a ball came out. He follows it, but then he saw another one behind him and more came out of the wall. Roxas dodged each ball and taps on the wall. The screen then fizzles. One last ball came out and it stops. Donald came in.
Donald: Oh, it's you, Roxas. Were you throwing a ball?
Roxas: No.
Donald: That ball flew out and it startled me. Hey, maybe that explains one of the seven wonders.
As Roxas and Donald left, they didn't notice a dark portal appear on the wall and disappear. Roxas saw a tunnel and decides to enter it. As he reached to the end, he saw a familiar Black Mage.
Roxas: Vivi?
Roxas walks up to Vivi, but then saw that there are three of him. As the Vivis charges in to attack, Roxas uses his club to knock them, but they broke into data and more appears. Roxas fought off all of the Vivis and defeats the last one. The screen fizzles out again. All of a sudden, Vivi appears from the entrance.
Vivi: What is it, Roxas?
He walks over and saw Roxas carrying his club.
Vivi: Are you practicing in here or something?
Roxas: No, Vivi. There were so many of you in here.
Vivi: Huh? So many me? What are you talking about? Well, take your time, Roxas. I am scared of dark places. So, see ya.
He walks out and Donald came in.
Donald: Hey, I hear some voices in here. So the mysterious voice was just Vivi practicing?
Roxas: Listen. There were a bunch of Vivi clones in here.
Donald: No way! There's only just one Vivi. Let's look for the rest.
Unknown to the two of them, Vivi transforms into a white creature and crawls away. The two of them left the tunnel and looks around town. Roxas came across a little waterfall and saw his reflection. Suddenly, the reflection walks out and passed through Roxas.
Roxas: What the...?
He turns around to see the other Roxas, who turns black and took out it's club. Roxas got out his own club and battles the Shadow Roxas. The Shadow Roxas tried to attack the real Roxas, but he blocks it's attack. He then slashed the Shadow Roxas multiple times, making it disappear. The screen fizzles out again. Donald walks over to find Roxas, laying on the ground.
Donald: ROXAS!
Donald ran up to Roxas. Roxas got up and dusted himself.
Donald: Are you alright?
Roxas: I'm fine.
Roxas and Donald turns to the waterfall.
Donald: Now, that is creepy! I thought I saw another person, but it's just my reflection from the waterfall. I guess that explains one of the seven wonders. Let's go find the rest.
He walks off.
Roxas: There was...another me?
He walks off too, unaware that the Shadow Roxas was still in the waterfall and then disappears. Roxas decides to take a look at sunset hill and saw three trash cans and a bag in the middle.
Roxas: What's a bag doing there?
As he approached the bag, it starts to move around. Roxas grabs onto it. The bag was heading towards the trash can, but it jumps over. He had to jump over each one, until the bag calms down. Roxas walks over to it and opens the bag. Inside the bag was a collie dog. It was panting at him. Donald came up to the hill to see what's going on.
Donald: Oh, it's just a dog. Did you let it out of the bag, Roxas?
Roxas: Yes.
The dog starts walking away.
Donald: Well, that explains one of the wonders.
While those two are still talking, the dog transforms into a white creature and crawls away, unknown to them.
Roxas: You know...that last wonder isn't that wonderful to me.
Donald: I understand. Say no more. But this next one will be worthwhile. Wonder Number Six!
The two of them turns to see Mickey and Minnie run up the hill.
Mickey: We got a lead to the next wonder.
Minnie: It's the "Ghost Train Mystery."
Roxas: What's that?
Donald: Come on, Roxas. Everyone knows Wonder Number Six. It should be here any minute. Rumor has it that there was a train that was empty and runs on it's own. No driver, no conductor, no passenger...NO RETURN!
Mickey: Like Goofy, when he couldn't find his hat.
Roxas: How come no one ever told me about that?
Minnie: Sorry, Roxas. We forgot to tell you.
Roxas: So, where would we see the train come?
Minnie: We could see it from over here.
She points to the train track on the right side of the hill. The group decides to sit down. They waited for over an hour.
Minnie: You know. We could go to the beach next year.
Mickey: Yeah. We could get jobs for the next summer vacation.
?: Good afternoon, slackers.
Everyone turns to see Seifer, standing there.
Seifer: What are you doing out here?
Mickey: What do you care?
Seifer: I don't, mousy. Tell me anyway.
Donald: We're waiting for the ghost train.
Seifer: Waiting for the ghost train?
He laughs, only to stop, when Roxas gave him an angry stare.
Seifer: Why is it every time I see your face that it always ticks me off?
Roxas: I don't know. Maybe it's destiny.
Seifer: Destiny, huh? In that case, let's be friends.
He turns to the sunset.
Seifer: I don't choose to follow destiny.
Mickey: When did you start cooperating with people or anything?
Seifer didn't reply, but he pat his chest and walks away.
Minnie: Seifer!
Seifer: I know. See you tomorrow.
He then left. Roxas turns to the train track.
Roxas: LOOK!
Everyone turns to see where Roxas was looking. In the distance was a purple train with yellow decorations all over it. There are moons and stars decorated all over the train. It passed through the tunnel under the hill. Roxas turns to his friends.
Roxas: It's really true. And there's really no one aboard. What's the catch? There's gotta be a catch, right?
The other three looks at him, confused.
Roxas: Then it must be real. Come on! Let's go back to the station!
The gang left the hill and ran all the way to the station. Once they arrived, the purple train is there. Roxas smiles.
Roxas: Let's go in!
He was about to walk in, but Mickey grabs him.
Roxas: What is it, Mickey?
Mickey: You just can't go in mysterious trains, Roxas! It could be dangerous.
Roxas turns back to see that the train disappeared. Then the announcer spoke.
Announcer: The train will be arriving shortly.
The orange train arrives and passengers got off, including Rai and Fuu.
Mickey: Come on, Roxas.
Roxas: But there was a train coming from the beach. There was no driver, right?
Donald: Let's go, Roxas.
Roxas: Right?
Minnie shook her head. Mickey grabs Roxas and puts him on the train. Once they returned to the town, Mickey, Donald, and Minnie were very disappointed.
Mickey: Let's go home and do our papers. The headlines would be "the wonders weren't exactly that wonderful."
Minnie: But we can still make it sound good if we write about all the work we did.
Roxas: But what about the last one? You know, the seventh wonder?
Mickey: Who cares about the last one?
Roxas: I do. Come on, Donald.
Mickey walks away, while Donald and Minnie stops and turns to Roxas.
Donald: It's at the haunted mansion in the woods.
Roxas: Right. See you all there.
Roxas ran off. He ran into the forest and came outside the mansion gate. A voice came from behind.
?: You know...
Roxas gasped and quickly turns to see Donald.
Donald: Relax. We were gonna search the mansion tomorrow. It is the most suspicious place.
Roxas: Right...
Donald: Even Seifer's gang are gonna help out.
Roxas: Seifer?
Donald: Yeah, Mickey asked him to.
Roxas looks at one of the windows of the mansion. In the window was a familiar blonde hair girl. Roxas turns to Donald.
Roxas: So, what are we looking for?
Donald: Well, they say that there is a girl in the second floor window, even though nobody lived there for many years.
Roxas looks at the window again and closed his eyes. Once he opens them again, he found himself in a white room. There was a long white table and there are pictures on the wall. Roxas looks at one revealing a red-headed girl holding a star-shaped fruit.
Roxas: That's Kairi...
?: Roxas...
Roxas turns to his right.
Roxas: Namine?
He looks at another picture, showing a blonde hair boy, wearing a black coat, alongside a red hair man, who also wears a black coat.
Roxas: Is that...me? And Axel is here, too.
Namine: That's right. You two are best friends.
Roxas: Very funny.
Namine: But don't you wanna know the truth about who you really are?
Roxas: No one knows me better than I do.
Namine: Of course...
Roxas: But...I still don't know what's going on. The strange things in town.
He walks over to look at another picture with a boy with brown spiky hair and a red jumpsuit. Next to him are a green duck and a light purple Tasmanian Devil.
Namine: You know these three, right?
Roxas: Yeah. The boy is Sora, the duck is Plucky Duck, and the Tasmanian Devil is Dizzy Devil. They are the ones from my dreams.
Namine: About a year ago, something happened to Sora and his friends. I had to take apart the memories that chained them together to Sora's heart. But now...I am putting them back exactly the way they were. It's taken me a long time, but Sora will be back to his old self again. The process is affecting you as well, Roxas.
Roxas: You mean...the dreams?
Namine: Yes...You and Sora are connected.
Roxas then looks at the picture of him and Sora.
Namine: And...in order to make Sora completely whole again, he needs you, Roxas.
Roxas: Me? What for?
Namine: You see, you are half of what he is. He needs you, Roxas.
Roxas took a seat at the long white table and looks at Namine, who was sitting at the opposite end.
Roxas: Namine...who are you?
Namine: I'm a witch with a power over Sora's memories and those around him.
Roxas: A witch?
Namine: That's what Diz called me. But I can't remember why I have this power...I just do. I'm not even sure that's a right way for me to do it.
Roxas: I can't help you there.
He looks at the picture of him and Axel and looks back at Namine again.
Roxas: It's funny...Suddenly, I feel like I don't know myself at all. I guess I would like to know. What do you know about me...that I don't.
Namine: Well...you were never supposed to exist, Roxas.
Roxas: What? How could you say that? Even if it was true?
Namine: I'm sorry. I guess things...are better left unsaid. I'll see you soon, Roxas.
Then there was a flash of light and Roxas was still staring, as Donald tried to shake him awake.
Donald: Roxas? Roxas? Are you awake, Roxas?
Roxas: Huh?
Donald: Did you see her or something?
Roxas: Yeah. Watch the window, closely.
He points to the window, but Namine has disappeared.
Donald: Oh, that's lame. That's just the curtains moving. There must be a draft somewhere. I'm surprised to see that this mansion already has curtains.
Roxas: Yeah.
Donald: Come on. Let's head back. Mickey and Minnie are waiting for us.
Roxas and Donald ran back. Namine watched them leave, through the curtain, staring at Roxas. When they returned to the secret place, they just found Minnie there.
Minnie: Hey, guys. How did it go?
Donald: The girl in the window turns out to be a curtain flapping in the wind.
Minnie: I just figured that much. But the report is done.
Donald: Alright!
Minnie: So, do you guys wanna meet up with Mickey? He should be at the clock tower above the train station. It's a shame, because we only have two days left.
Roxas: Huh?
Minnie: Summer vacation, remember?
Roxas: Oh...yeah.
They all walked up to the clock tower above the train station, finding Mickey on top, eating his blue ice cream.
Mickey: Hey, guys. Tomorrow we search the town for something unusual.
Donald: The next day, we go to the fair with Goofy.
Minnie: That is the last day of vacation.
Mickey: Please don't say that! You're giving me quite a stomachache!
Donald: Not if you explode from eating all that ice cream.
Mickey gave Donald a glare, while Minnie laughs, but Roxas remains silent. He thinks to himself.
Roxas: Not meant to exist? Why does Sora need me?
In a dim room with a ruined long table, Ansem with his hood covering his head again enters the room to see Diz on a chair.
Ansem: Why did you show him the train?
Diz: Because he missed his train to the beach.
Ansem: Hmph...that's almost kind of you.
Diz: Now...what about you? Are the holes in your memories starting to fill in?
Ansem: Yes...the haze is clearing. I am now remembering all about Sora and the others.
Diz: The same thing is happening to everyone, who had ties with Sora during his last adventure. Very soon to them, he'll be like a good friend, who had gone away for a year. Especially those who are close to him.
Ansem sat in an opposite chair of him.
Ansem: I waited long enough and now, I wanted to know. What is it that you are after?
Diz: The thing that I am after is...revenge.
Ansem: Revenge?
Diz: Sorry, but there is not much time to lose. Right now, we must put in the finishing touches. First, we must dispose of Namine. She did a splendid job with Sora, but now, it's high-time that she has to disappear as well. Roxas isn't the only one who wasn't meant to exist. Take care of it, Ansem.
The screen fizzles again.
Restoration at 97%.
Meanwhile, back on Destiny Islands, Kairi was sleeping on the shore. Then she dreams of someone. His voice ran to her.
Kairi...I'll come back, soon.
She woke up.
Kairi: What?
?: What do you mean what?
She turns to see Tidus walking towards her.
Kairi: Tidus...I see his face...I hear his voice. I think I remembered who the boy that used to be with me and Riku all the time is.
Tidus: Me too. I think I know his name...Sora, is it?
Kairi: Yes. It's Sora.
She then stood up.
Kairi: Sora...I hope you be keeping your promise. I'll wait for you.
That's it for chapter 3. What does Diz mean by Roxas and Namine never meant to exist? The next part will conclude Roxas's story.
