Sorry that it took a while for this to get out, here's Part 2 of Resolutions in the Jungle!

Some time after the feast, Helga walked behind a pillar and took her locket out of her tank top, and she began to once again lovingly admire the torn picture of the love of her life, letting out a lovestruck sigh as she continued to stare at the locket. Unbeknownst to her, Izel, the princess of the Green-Eye society, had seen Helga admiring her locket, and let out a noise that indicated confusion, causing a startled Helga to let out a high-pitched scream. Recovering, Helga turned to face the Green-Eye princess and snapped, "Sheesh, what's your deal, sister?! You almost gave me a heart attack over here!" before muttering under her breath, "What is it with me getting snuck upon lately?"

Helga watched as Izel pointed at her locket and asked a question in the Green-Eye dialect, but the only discernible word Helga had managed to hear the princess say was "Arnold."

Though she was clearly not fluent in the Green-Eye's language, Helga managed to understand what the princess was trying to say based on what she had heard and the fact that Izel was pointing at her locket, and after rolling her eyes, Helga admitted, "Yeah, yeah... I love Arnold, big deal, it's not like the entire stinkin' civilization knows about it!" Once she finished, Helga muttered, "Criminy, and just when I thought Arnoldo's parents knowing about it was bad enough..." a slight blush having tinted her cheeks by the end of her admission.

Izel's eyes lit up in delight, and she grabbed Helga by the hand and ran towards Arnold as the former hastily stuffed her locket back into her shirt. Upon reaching Arnold, who was standing by his parents near a crowd of Green-Eye people, Izel raised his and Helga's hands upwards and triumphantly announced something to the crowd, who cheered in approval.

The two pre-teens could only react with confusion, Arnold letting out a perplexed noise and Helga asking, "What's the big idea?"

Arnold and Helga looked towards the former's parents and Eduardo, whose eyes lit up with a mischievous glint as he stroked his chin in amusement and said, "Ah yes, I see... a traditional Green-Eye betrothal ceremony," while next to him, Miles and Stella were trying their best to not laugh.

Out of shock, Arnold and Helga both yelled, "WHAT?!" a furious blush coming across the young couple's faces. The two of them exchanged a quick glance at the other before breaking their gaze almost immediately, Helga putting her free hand over her mouth to suppress a scream of joy while Arnold stared off into the distance, thinking about the crazy dream he had when Rhonda's marriage predictor had paired him and Helga together, as well as what he had said to Gerald on the bus the following day:

"I've got plenty of time to think about who I'm gonna marry, but I guess even if I wound up marrying Helga, it wouldn't be so bad..."

Arnold was snapped out of his thoughts by an excited (and smugly triumphant) Gerald, who clapped Arnold on the back and yelled, "DIBS ON BEIN' YOUR BEST MAN!" before turning to Helga and slyly asking in a more controlled volume, "Is Phoebe gonna be your maid of honor?"

While Helga had completely shut down after hearing Gerald's question, Arnold sighed, turned to face his best friend with an expression of both annoyance and embarrassment, and replied, "Gerald, no."

"Hey man, you're the one that told me that you'd be a-okay with marrying Helga two years ago!" Waggling his eyebrows at Arnold, Gerald continued, "Seems that Rhonda's marriage predictor wasn't that far off from the truth, huh?"

Arnold whined, "Geraaaaaald..." as he buried his face in his hands, unconsciously tightening his grip on Helga's hand as he did so.

Later, once everything had been settled and Arnold and company were preparing to leave the city, Arnold stared ahead at Helga, who was romping through the jungle head-on, and he let out an affectionate sigh before he began looping the amulet he had received (as well as Helga and Gerald) from the Green-Eyes as a reward for saving their city around his finger once again.

Stella, having noticed Arnold's lovesick state, began, "So, Arnold... Helga seems like a wonderful girl, you two must've been very close before all this."

Chuckling, Miles nodded and piped in with, "Is she your girlfriend, by any chance?" As Arnold blushed, Mile looked ahead at Helga pushing her way past even more foliage and said, "Man, what a fiery girl..." before teasingly nudging Arnold on the shoulder, remarking, "You really know how to pick 'em up, son."

"You know, the two of you really seem to care for each other an awful lot..." Stella mused as she looked down at her son.

"O-Oh, yeah, she's great! But she's not my girlfriend... at least not yet," Arnold replied as he awkwardly tousled his hair.

Stella cooed, "Aww! Was that your first kiss then, sweetie?"

"Well, no, actually... we've kissed before. Three times before this, I think?"

Miles and Stella could only stare at each other in confusion as Arnold lovingly stared ahead at Helga once again, this time watching as she plucked a bushy caterpillar off of her unibrow in annoyance.

I'm really sorry about the delay this suffered, school + college applications does NOT equal free time.

Hopefully you enjoyed!
