Chapter 35: Battle in the Distortion League
Sora and the gang returns to the Distortion World and meet Ash and his friends again. Kirby's group is also there, too.
Sora: Ash, you feeling any better?
May: Well...same routine. Ash thinks his adventure days are over. Prof. Oak thinks it's all in his head.
Dizzy: We know Ash is hero.
Unknown to everyone, a mechanical arm grabs Pikachu from Ash's shoulder.
Pikachu: PIKA!
Ash: PIKACHU!
Everyone hears a sinister laugh. They looked up and saw Team Rocket in a balloon that looks like Meowth. They trapped Pikachu in an electricity-proof cage.
Sora: Not them again!
Jessie: Prepare for trouble, we're finally back in this fanfic...
James: And make it double, we'll make you twerps sick...
Monty: To protect the world from devastation...
James: To unite all people within our nation...
Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love...
Monty: To extend our reach to the stars above...
Jessie: Jessie...
James: James...
Monty: Montana Max, now that's a name...
Jessie: Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light...
James: Surrender now, or prepare to fight...
Monty: And we'll make sure this will be your last night!
Meowth: Meowth, dat's right!
Wobbuffet: Wobbuffet!
Mime Jr.: Mime! Mime!
Everyone: TEAM ROCKET!
Ash: So you guys are back?
?: That's right...Twerps. How can you mope on a momentous day like today?
Everyone turns to see Giovanni, along with Cassidy, Butch, and all of Team Rocket.
Sora: GIOVANNI!
Giovanni: The Distortion League is back, and you are gonna fill the stands. After all, your fans won't settle for anything less than a Pokemon Master.
Ash growls at him, then looks back in sadness. Giovanni puts his hand on Ash's shoulder.
Giovanni: I mean, if you're not up to it, you could always just, I dunno, LOSE!
Sora: I bet you'd like that!
Giovanni: Excuse me? I'm not a selfish guy. I'm not like those snobbish Legendary Pokemon up on the Spear Pillar of Mt. Coronet. I stand for the masses! And I have a massive idea!
He turns to his Team Rocket audience.
Giovanni: Ladies and gentlemen, the games...are back! Yours truly, Giovanni, the one and only Boss of Team Rocket, brings you the ultimate games, to celebrate the re-opening of the ultimate stadium! We'll finally celebrate the age-old question: Who deserves the title "Ultimate Pokemon Masters?" These games are gonna settle the debate once and for all! The winner reigns supreme! Of what? You guessed it! The Giovanni Cup!
Plucky: Didn't we do that tournament in the last adventure?
Giovanni turns to Ash.
Giovanni: And I assure you that the "Great" Ash Ketchum will be there. Otherwise...You'll never see your Pikachu and your girlfriend again.
Sora: Lowlife!
Giovanni: Why thank you, kid.
Smoke surrounds Giovanni. When the smoke clears, he was gone. Cassidy and Butch walks up to the gang.
Cassidy: We're handling registration for the Giovanni Cup.
Butch: Yeah. Don't go to those losers for that one.
They are pointing at Monty, Meowth, Jessie, and James, who looks upset.
Monty: No fair! Why does Giovanni have to count on Cassidy and Buffy?
Butch: HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL EVERYONE? THE NAME IS BUTCH!
Cassidy: Because the Boss favors us over you four clowns.
Sora: Well, sign me and my friends up.
Ash: I'll be participating in it, too.
Sora, Plucky, Dizzy, and Ash signs up for the tournament, then they went to the tournament billboard.
Ash: So, who do we face first?
Dizzy: We face "Spin Strike" first.
Plucky: Auron's in the tournament, too.
Dizzy: Uh-oh! We may face Auron in finals.
Ash: I bet he's a real hero, huh?
Sora: Well, I don't think he's a bad guy...But you're the only Pokemon Trainer here, Ash. You know that.
Ash looks down in sadness again.
Ash: Maybe before...Now I'm just a wash-
Sora & Plucky: STOP THAT!
The four heroes went on the platform that takes them to the Distortion League. They entered the arena with some cheering from the audience. Ash's friends and Kirby's group are cheering for the heroes.
May: Come on, Ash! You can do it!
Tiff: Go, Sora! Show them what you're made of!
Tuff: We know you guys can do it!
Kirby: Go, Sora! Go, Dizzy!
The first team that Team Sora faces are a couple of Driller Moles, Tornado Steps, and a Morning Star. Ash brought out Charizard. Team Sora quickly took out the Heartless.
Sora: How'd it go out there, champ?
Ash: I'm just not what I used to be. Sorry to drag you down, guys.
Ash still looks down in sadness.
Sora: Don't throw in the towel yet, Ash! We need you in the semifinals!
Team Sora returns to the tournament billboard.
Dizzy: We at semifinals...
Plucky: And we're going against "Bad Alert!"
Ash: Are they any good?
Sora: It sounds like they're "bad"...but we can't quit now!
Team Sora returns to the arena to face a couple of Minute Bombs, Crescendos, and a Crimson Jazz. Team Sora quickly took them out.
Sora: We made it to the finals!
Plucky: If we win, we'll all be heroes!
Dizzy: Plucky mean-
Plucky: Don't even say it, Dizzy!
Sora: We can't stay junior heroes forever, you know.
Ash: I'll try not to mess things up.
Plucky: Enough already!
Ash: Look. Over there.
Sora, Plucky, and Dizzy looks at where Ash is pointing and saw Auron.
Sora: Auron!
Ash: He's our final opponent, right?
A dark aura surrounds Auron. He turns around to face the team.
Auron: And you are?
Sora: Huh?
Plucky: Auron?
Auron: I must defeat you and atone for my crimes.
Sora: Hey!
Auron walks away.
Sora: What was that about?
Sora, Plucky, and Dizzy left the Distortion League to follow Auron. Auron went on the platform that took him to the east island. Sora and the gang took another platform that takes them there. When they arrived, Sora hid behind a rock. Plucky tried to run out, but Sora grabs him. The trio saw Auron talking to Giovanni.
Giovanni: OK. Let's review. State your crime, prisoner.
Auron: I exist. That is my crime. It is...inexcusable.
Giovanni: Good. Very good.
Sora: What's wrong with Auron? He's never acted that way before.
Plucky shushed Sora.
Giovanni: OK, so you made one lousy mistake: You exist. But hey, I'm a forgiving guy. You keep your end of our little deal, and I'm willing to overlook a transgression or two.
Auron: I understand. Defeat Ash Ketchum.
Giovanni then thought of something.
Giovanni: And his meddling friends.
Auron: What? No, only Ash Ketchum.
Giovanni: Oh, don't tell me you've forgotten who's in charge?
He puts his hand on Auron's shoulder. Some dark energy came out of Giovanni's hand, making Auron groan in pain. Giovanni pulls out a statue that looks like Auron and covers it in dark energy.
Giovanni: Ash and the three twerps. Are we clear?
Auron: We're clear, Giovanni.
Giovanni: Lord Giovanni.
Auron: Lord Giovanni...
Giovanni stops torturing Auron.
Giovanni: Good. Now, go defeat those twerps.
Sora and Plucky hid behind the rock again, as Auron walks away.
Sora: So, that's how he's controlling Auron!
Giovanni walks away with the statue in his hand.
Plucky: WHAT A JERK!
Dizzy: Giovanni probably made Auron think that was compliment.
Sora: I can't stand seeing Auron do that lowlife's bidding! We've gotta help him!
Auron was walking pass the trio. Sora tried to stop him, but he walks away.
Sora: Come on, Let's go after him!
Plucky and Dizzy nods. The trio went after Auron to the Distortion World entrance, but he went on a platform that took him to the Distortion League. Cassidy and Butch waves good-bye at the trio.
Cassidy: See you later, twerps!
Butch: We'll make sure Auron defeats Ash!
Ash walks up to the trio.
Ash: What's wrong, Sora?
Sora: Auron's in trouble! It's like Giovanni brainwashed him!
Dizzy: Giovanni using some kinda statue.
Ash: You know something? That sounds kinda familiar...
There was silence for a moment. Then Ash spoke up.
Ash: Giovanni may be using the statue to hold Auron's free will hostage.
Plucky: What do we do?
Ash: See if you can find that statue? It's gotta be somewhere in the Distortion World.
Sora: Right! I'm on it!
Suddenly, Giovanni appears behind Sora, surprising him.
Giovanni: Tell me you're not thinking of leaving. You've got a match coming up.
Ash: I'll fight Auron in the final. One-on-one.
Giovanni: Oh, you will?
He turns his back to think about it. Ash whispers to Sora.
Ash:(Whispers)I'll draw things out to buy you time.
Sora: But...
Ash: Just hurry back. I know you can do it.
Giovanni: Congratulations! You've got a deal.
Ash: Thanks.
Giovanni: On one condition! The Keyblade twerp and his twerpy friends have to meet the winner in one final clash. What do you say?
Ash: That'll drive the crowd wild.
Giovanni: It'd better. I promised the crowd the event of their lives.
Cassidy and Butch returns with the platform. Ash and Giovanni got on the platform, as it moves towards the Distortion League. Butch and Cassidy waves good-bye to the trio again.
Giovanni: Suckers! The rest for me is smooth sailing.
The trio nods and heads back to the east island. Back at the arena, Ash's Charizard and Auron are fighting. Giovanni was watching the fight and petting his Persian.
Giovanni: Now, that is entertainment!
On the seats, Ash's friends and Kirby's group are cheering on Ash.
Tiff: Come on, Ash!
Tuff: You can do it!
Kirby: Go, Ash! Go!
May was looking worried. She thinks to herself.
May: Hurry, Sora! I don't know how much longer Ash can hold on.
Back with Sora and the gang, they made their way through the island, fighting Heartless along the way, until they reached Team Rocket's base. The trio got in the base and found the statue of Auron.
Sora: There's the statue!
He tried to grab the statue, but it shocks him. Dizzy touched Sora and got himself shocked, too. Plucky touched Dizzy and got shocked, too.
Plucky: What's going on?
Sora grabs the statue. Suddenly, the trio hears voices.
It is not too late! Let us turn back! Yes, but I...I cannot accept it. Where is the sense in all this? But...there must be another way! Your deaths will mean nothing! You must live!
Sora: I get it. This is what belongs in Auron's heart.
Dizzy: Auron must have pretty rough life.
Sora: Yeah...But in the end, that's what made him stronger.
Plucky: Let's give it back!
Suddenly, the trio got surrounded by Dusks.
Sora: Nobodies? Where did they come from?
Sora uses Magnera to trap the Nobodies in a giant magnet sphere. Plucky uses Thundara and Dizzy uses Spin Attack. The trio took them out, but some more Nobodies kept spawning.
Plucky: Hey, go away!
Suddenly, the Rabid Dogs attacked the Nobodies.
Sora: Not what I had in mind, but I'll take it!
Dizzy: We better get outta here!
The trio left the Team Rocket base, as the Heartless are fighting the Nobodies. They made it all the way back to the entrance, where Cassidy and Butch are waiting.
Cassidy: Ha! The twerp must be screaming for mercy by now!
Butch: What do you three want? Did you come to see the twerp lose, too?
Sora: No! We came to help him! Take use back to the Distortion League!
Cassidy and Butch took the trio to the Distortion League. Back in the arena, Ash's Charizard is dodging Auron's attacks. Auron brought his sword down to Charizard, but he grabs the sword to stop it. Auron keeps pushing Charizard on his knees.
Giovanni: NOW! FINISH HIM!
Charizard was still struggling with Auron's sword.
Ash: Hang in there, Charizard!
?: Auron, no!
Everyone turns to see Sora's gang returning to the arena.
Plucky: Hey, Auron! This belongs to you!
Sora threw the statue over to Auron. The statue explodes, creating a rain of light over Auron's head. Auron stops attacking. Ash's friends and Kirby's group sighs in relief.
Auron: Sora...Plucky...Dizzy...
Sora, Plucky, & Dizzy: Auron!
Giovanni: WHY THOSE LITTLE...Prisoner! What happened to our mutual agreement? I can give you a clean slate, but you gotta work with me.
Auron: Maybe you didn't hear me.
He turns to Giovanni.
Auron: This is my story, and you're not a part of it.
Giovanni got angry and ran down to the arena.
Giovanni: THAT'S IT! This game is over! I've played by the rules so far! OK, I'll confess. I was hoping Ash would lose, but it was still a fair fight. Come on, is that really wrong?
Sora: Really? A fair fight?
Plucky and Dizzy snickers.
Giovanni: Laugh, laugh, laugh all you want!(Fake laughs)But the laughing is about to stop. Wanna know why? Because now, we're gonna play by my rules.
He snaps his finger and the gate behind the arena opens up to reveal a dark pool. Suddenly, everyone hears a scream. They looked up and saw Team Rocket's balloon grab May with a mechanical arm.
Ash: MAY!
Team Rocket's balloon flew towards the dark pool.
May: ASH!
Giovanni: This pool is the pool of the dead. Anyone who drowns in it becomes a ghost of the Distortion World.
Ash: LET HER GO!
Giovanni: Hey, I warned you right at the get-go. You don't compete, you lose the girl.
Meowth: Now let's drop da twerpette down da pool of da dead!
He pressed the button and released May down into the pool of the dead. Ash ran towards the gate.
Ash: Hang on, May! I'm coming!
He dives into the pool of the dead to rescue May. Misty and Dawn were worried about May, but were also a little disappointed that Ash chose her.
Misty: So, I guess Ash really does like May.
Dawn: Well, I hope he rescues her in time.
Giovanni: Looks like Ash has dropped out of the tournament.
The gate to the pool of the dead closed.
Sora: Well, you've still got us to deal with!
Giovanni: Oh, yeah. This is gonna be good.
He pulls out his Pokeball and released Rhyperior. Kirby also joins in the fight.
Sora: Kirby, You wanna help us?
Kirby: Kirby help Sora!
Sora: Then let's stop him!
Sora and Auron slashed Rhyperior with their blades, but they did no damage. Plucky uses Fira and Blizzara, but the attacks still did no damage. Dizzy uses Headbutt on Rhyperior, but hurts his head in the process. Kirby uses Inhale to try to suck up Rhyperior, but he was too heavy. Charizard uses Flamethrower, but the attack still did no damage. Rhyperior uses Earthquake to stomp his foot, making the ground shake, and cracking the earth on our heroes. Giovanni laughs evilly.
Sora: We can't win.
Plucky: How come?
Auron: Because this is the Distortion World.
Dizzy: Then how we beat Giovanni?
Giovanni was about to order Rhyperior to attack, but then he hears the gate to the pool of the dead bust open. He looks at the gate, but saw nobody.
?: I think an Aura Guardian should be able to help.
Everyone turns to see Ash carrying May. He has a blue aura surrounding himself and May. He smiles at Giovanni.
Giovanni: But...how...did...you...?
Ash: I owe you one, Giovanni. I didn't hesitate to give my life for May's. And then, I remembered: A true hero is measured by the strength of his heart.
He puts May back on the ground. Everyone ran up to Ash.
Ash: I'll never forget that again.
Sora: Just no more crazy stunts.
Ash: People will always do crazy things, when they're in love.
Sora, Plucky, and Dizzy giggles.
Giovanni: WHAT IS SO FUNNY, YOU IMBECILES! HOW DARE YOU GET A HAPPY ENDING! HOW DARE YOU!
He pulls out two more Pokeballs.
Giovanni: Alakazam, Gengar, I CHOOSE YOU!
He released Alakazam and Gengar. Jessie and James joins the fight with their own two Pokeballs each. Meowth and Monty are holding the cage with Pikachu in it.
Jessie: We need to help out the Boss! Arbok, Seviper, GO!
She released Arbok and Seviper.
James: Weezing, Cacnea, YOU TOO!
He released Weezing and Cacnea.
Sora: Me and Ash will take care of Giovanni.
Auron: Then me, Plucky, Dizzy, and Kirby will take care of those two clowns.
Sora, Ash, and Charizard are fighting Giovanni's Pokemon, while Auron's group are fighting Team Rocket's Pokemon. Auron lets Kirby inhale his sword to become Sword Kirby. He has a sword and a green hat. Kirby returns Auron's sword back to him. Seviper uses Poison Tail to clash with Auron's sword. Auron was able to slash Seviper multiple times, knocking him back to Jessie. Arbok uses Poison Sting, but Kirby slashed every needle with his Multisword Attack. Kirby jumps into the air and did a Sword Spin on Arbok, knocking him back as well. Cacnea uses Pin Missile, but Dizzy uses Spin Attack to deflect the missiles. He proceeds to punch and kick Cacnea multiple times, knocking him back to James. Weezing uses Sludge on Plucky, but he dodged the attack and uses Fira, Thundara, and Blizzara on Weezing, knocking him back as well. Kirby charges up for a Sword Beam and unleashed a crescent energy wave. The attack hits Team Rocket, causing an explosion, and sent them flying. Pikachu was released from the cage and fell into Plucky's arms.
Jessie: No fair! We were about to win this battle!
James: The twerps will always find a way to beat us!
Meowth: At least we got some screen time again.
Monty: Yeah, but the people are probably laughing at us right now!
Wobbuffet: Wobba!
Monty & Team Rocket: Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!
Wobbuffet: Wobbuffet!
Mime Jr.: Mime! Mime!
A star twinkles at where they were sent flying to.
Plucky: Now, we need to take care of Giovanni.
Auron: Let Sora and Ash take care of him. They can handle him.
Plucky: Right! Pikachu, go help Sora and Ash.
Pikachu jumps out of Plucky's arms and joins Sora and Ash. Sora was in his Limit Form.
Pikachu: Pikapi!
Ash: Pikachu! I'm so glad you're OK. Now, we need your help.
Giovanni's Pokemon are glowing with dark auras around their bodies. Ash threw three Aura Spheres to disable their auras. Alakazam uses Psybeam to fire rainbow-colored beams from his eyes. The attack hits Charizard, but he seems barely fazed. Alakazam uses Psychic to freeze Charizard in a blue aura, but he breaks through it. Gengar uses Shadow Ball to throw a dark energy balls at Pikachu, but he dodged the attack. Gengar uses Shadow Claw to make his claws glow in dark energy and starts slashing Pikachu, but he dodged every attack. Rhyperior uses Hammer Arm to try to hit Sora and Ash with his arms, but they dodged the attack. Rhyperior uses Hyper Beam to fire an orange energy beam at the two boys, but they dodged the attack again.
Sora uses Sonic Blade, Strike Raid, and Zantetsuken on Rhyperior, knocking him back to Giovanni. Pikachu uses Iron Tail to make his tail glow into metal and hits Gengar multiple times. He then uses Thunderbolt to electrocute Gengar, knocking him back. Charizard uses Dragon Claw to make his claws glow green and slashed Alakazam multiple times. He then use Flamethrower to burn Alakazam, knocking him back. Sora, Pikachu, and Charizard finished Giovanni and his Pokemon off with their ultimate attacks. Sora uses Ragnarok to fire multiple energy spheres, Pikachu uses Volt Tackle to cover himself in electric aura, and Charizard uses Flare Blitz to cover himself in fiery aura. All of the attacks hits Giovanni and his Pokemon, creating an explosion that sent them flying into the sky.
Giovanni: It's not over yet, twerps! I'll be back!
A star twinkles at where he was sent flying to. Back at the Distortion World entrance, Sora, Plucky, and Dizzy are talking to Auron.
Plucky: What are you gonna do now?
Auron: I lived my life, defending others. But now...there's no one left to protect. Maybe...it's time I shaped my own story.
Sora: Yeah...You deserve it, Auron. After everything you've been through.
Auron smiles.
Auron: I suppose I should thank you.
Sora: Not at all.
Auron: Fine. I'll be off, then.
Sora: I mean, you can thank us a little.
Auron: You should say what you mean.
There was silence for a moment, then Auron spoke up.
Auron: I guess I could spare a few words.
There was silence again, then Auron spoke up.
Auron: Thanks for meddling.
The trio drops to the floor, anime style. Sora stood back up.
Sora: Hey, what's that mean?
Auron didn't say anything, but he gave Sora a Keychain called the Guardian Soul. Sora equips it and his Keyblade now looks like a red sword with a few teeth sticking out. Auron walks away from the trio. The trio returns to the ruins of the Lily of the Valley Conference, where they found Ash's group and Kirby's group talking to each other.
Ash: Thanks again, guys! You're the best!
Plucky: Excuse us for meddling...
May: Aww...Sounds like somebody's feathers are a little ruffled. Just kidding. Thank you, Sora, Plucky, and Dizzy.
Kirby: Sora and friends are awesome!
Ash: So, where are you guys headed next?
Sora: Well, you know...You two lovebirds seem to be getting along just fine without us hanging around.
Both Ash and May blushed from that comment. Kirby and Ribbon giggles.
Plucky: Yeah. We gotta go.
Dizzy: Yeah. Before we start meddling.
Sora: Right.
?: Are you kids trying to put me out of a job?
Everyone turns to see Prof. Oak.
Oak: If you keep acing every challenge, champ, who am I gonna train?
Ash: Aww, you can't abandon me now, Professor! I gotta be at the top of my game in case Team Rocket shows up again.
Plucky: Hey, are we true heroes yet?
Sora: Yeah! Come on, Prof. Oak! How about it?
Oak: Lemme see now...You're not wise enough...Not quite...seasoned enough...
Sora: OK, OK, we get the hint!
Oak: Look, kid! It's not my call!
Plucky: Aww, man.
Oak: Course if it was, you'd have no problem. I'd make you all heroes, in a heartbeat.
Sora and Plucky looks at each other, then back to Prof. Oak.
Sora: Really?
Plucky: Say it again!
Oak: On second thought, if those are your "hero" faces, you still got alot of work to do.
Plucky ran up next to him.
Plucky: Hey, what do you mean?
Oak: Go away!
He starts running away, with Sora and Plucky chasing after him.
Oak: Leave me alone!
Everyone laughs, as Sora and Plucky are chasing Prof. Oak around. Suddenly, May saw something in the sky.
May: Hey, Ash. Look up at the sky.
Ash and his friends all looked up at the sky.
Ash: Well, what do you know...
Sora, Plucky, and Dizzy all looked up in the sky as well. Prof. Oak also saw the same thing and was surprised. He then covers his eyes with his arm. The stars are spinning around, showing the constellations of Sora, Plucky, and Dizzy. Later that night, Prof. Oak checks in the rooms for the trio in a luxury hotel. They all went to sleep to prepare for tomorrow's tournament.
That's it for chapter 35. Next time, Sora and the gang will participate in a new tournament.
