Feelings
After the party had subsided the Trolls were taking down the decoration, Branch was using a broom to sweep up the remains of confetti, placing them in a basket as he walked to the bonfire.
"So, are we gonna tell Poppy?" Smidge asked, pouring the confetti into the fire, looking down at the blackened skull of Deyo. Her, Branch, Guy, Cooper were the only Pop Trolls who knew about Deyo being killed. They just told the rest that Deyo was defeated and kept quiet about his death.
"Honestly, I don't think Poppy could handle it" Branch concluded, they both knew their Queen always liked to look on the bright side of things and they saw no reason to tell her the whole story. Branch tapped the bottom of his bucket, the last of the confetti hitting the flames.
After the Trolls all went about their cleaning they were getting ready to set up camp for the night. Branch looked at Smidge, thanking her for helping burn the confetti, being strong she was able to carry more, and as such it went faster.
"I'm gonna go for a walk, I need some time alone" Branch said, walking away from the yellow troll as he went for the walk in the night sky, since the party died down he was able to see the stars. Branch began his walk on the hills outside of Lonesome Flats, wearing his backpack, full of supplies he packed for this trip.
Branch wanted to clear his head, a lot had been on his mind. The other Trolls, Time Travellers, and Evil Overlord, a World Tour, Eddy's head injury but the thing most on his head was his relationship with Poppy, and how she was handling all this. Since they were kids Poppy was super optimistic, believing the world was all cupcakes and rainbows which Branch strongly disliked. He always told her that she would make an awful queen, because all she knew was singing, dancing and hugging... and scrapbooking, which was apparent by a whole closet worth of custom-made invitations to parties she planned, reflecting on their past.
"Happy Birthday Branch," the voice inside a card said as a cutout of a smiling Branch popped up
"I Don't want a birthday party," a much younger Branch about 10 said to the then Princess Poppy who handed him the piece of folded cardboard decorated as Poppy nudged him, telling Branch to cheer up, it was his birthday and she felt that if any Troll deserved to be happy it was him. Branch never went to any of the village parties, and she had never even heard a note from him.
Poppy, I will never attend one of your parties" the young Branch said ripping the card in half, he told her that she could throw the party if she wanted but he would not be attending as he walked away, making his way to what would become the survival bunker, closing the door as he had to clear his head. he was clueless as to how childish she was, even as a kid Branch saw the truth that the Trolls were in danger, in an incident that cost him his family and left him alone.
Branch walked to his bedroom, sitting on his bed as he pulled out the halves of his birthday card holding them together, before tossing them in a drawer by his nightstands, stuffed with invitations to many unattended parties. Most of the Trolls in the village stopped even trying to invite him to their parties.
Branch just walked to the periscope he installed to keep an eye on the village in the event of an attack but more than often he used it to spy the other trolls. The Birthday Party went off without change, the Trolls playing games, and enjoying baked sweets. Branch watched the party go down as he heard a knock.
Branch turned his periscope seeing Poppy waving as Branch sighed, asking what she wanted. she looked at the glass, asking if he was sure he did not want to come to the party, she always asked this and his answer was always the same as he turned his periscope side to side, signaling a 'no' as Poppy sighed.
"Well anyway I brought you a slice of cake, I thought you might want it... I'll just leave it here," Poppy said, setting the plate down on the floor as she backed away. Branch twisted his ankle as he walked along the hills, snapping him out of his memory.
"Maybe I could have been nicer to everyone, I was so focused on survival, I forgot how to have fun" Branch admitted, recently coming to terms with the fact he had feelings for Poppy because she was the only Troll who never gave up on him, even though he felt like he deserved it.
"It's Pipe dreaming, she'd never go for someone like me," Branch told himself, hearing a splash from the nearby river. Branch reached on his hip, still having the dagger he looted from Twiggy when she first arrived, Branch snuck up to the body of water seeing Barb skipping a stone which bounced off the water. Branch simply resheathed the dagger, keeping an eye on the Rock Queen, being he still did not trust the Rock Trolls completely.
"Damnit" Barb shouted, throwing a rock as it flew across the river before sinking as she was clearly talking to herself as Branch could not help but listen to the Rock Queen who was quick to mention Eddy's name.
"How can you do that, just throw your own life away," Barb said in frustration, she was clearly upset about the damage he sustained and considered he was dead for a while. It was a miracle he woke up, remembering when Eddy cheated death.
It was just after the fight with Deyo as Eddy was laying on the ground, right across from Deyo's headless body, black liquid sprayed on his red skin as Barb dropped the Guitar rushing to Eddy, shaking him.
"Eddy, get up you lazy Troll" Barb shook the unresponsive Troll as Dawn rushed to the two asking what happened as Barb snapped at Dawn, demanding she help him. Eddy just sacrificed himself to stop Deyo and did not deserve to die. Dawn ordered the others to look over the others. The Country Trolls were trained in medicine as the wounded were laid on the ground as one of them handed Dawn a first aid kit.
"First thing is to get these bandages on" Dawn replied, wrapping Eddy's chest and head in bandages as she felt his pulse, saying he was fading, telling the trolls she needed lightning bugs as Barb ordered her tribe to get some lightning bugs which Dawn used to jump-start his heart. Dawn slammed the bugs on Eddy's chest to no response as Dawn looked at Barb shaking her head.
"Sorry, he's deader than a doornail," Dawn said as Barb snatched the bugs, rubbing them together as pressing them on his chest, refusing to accept his death as she rubbed them together and slammed them a third time as Dawn looked at Barb, telling her that he was dead, Barb dropped the bugs, falling apart, praying to whoever would listen, she didn't really think there was anything to the concept of gods.
"Please just don't take him" Barb pleaded, looking at the Troll in peace as Eddy shot up screaming in pain, Barb took the moment to dry her eyes before facing him, playing it like she was okay.
"Why do I care so much?" Barb asked herself throwing another rock refusing to believe she had feelings for Eddy, besides even if she did... It wouldn't work out, she was a Queen and he was a time traveler from the future. She knew sooner or later Eddy would have to return to his time period.
"Look It was nothing, he was dying. The fact that it was Eddy had nothing to do with it, I just need to focus on the tour, I almost have all six strings... I don't have time to be close with anyone I have a goal to accomplish" Barb told herself as Branch watched from the trees.
"Really, Barb and Eddy" Branch thought to himself as he watched Barb leaving the river, staying out of sight as she headed back to the camp. Barb unzipped the mouth to her Anglerbus walking in while Eddy was sleeping on her mattress, letting out a snore as Barb looked at him, pulling the blanket over him.
"Damn, I really do have feelings for him" Barb acknowledged as Eddy opened his eyes, looking at Barb as he tried getting up, his wound somewhat recovered as he could sit up, asking her how she was.
"Meh, I just needed some time to myself, are you ready for our Rock concert?" Barb asked as Eddy smiled, saying it was her concert, he was just the help, and now that Deyo was taken care of as soon as they united the trolls, there was no reason for him to stick around as Barb looked at him.
"By the way, I never got to thank you for giving me those Guitar lessons, and I guess we'll be taking a break from Backhog riding" Eddy joked as Barb smirked, saying That Twiggy was taking care of Lemmy in his stead.
"Do you really have to go?" Barb asked.
A/N Its official Branch has feelings for Poppy and Barb has feelings for Eddy. I haven't decided what I'm gonna do with it but hope you like these pairings.
