"My dad wanted you to have a room to yourself, but I asked him that we both share the same room. I hope you don't mind,"

Elena talked and talked non-stop since they entered the house.

"I don't have sisters..."

"I'm an only child just like you..."

"I'm so excited that you're..."

Yes, she spoke and spoke without taking a break to breathe. Ignoring her was for the best.

So Bonnie stopped listening to her just as the two entered the room. A ridiculously huge room.

Walking to one of the two beds. Bonnie touched the wood with her fingertips, looking at everything around her without losing any detail.

All decorated in pink, cloying and too childish for her taste.

"From now on we will be sisters. Aren't you excited?" Elena eagerly awaited her answer.

And yet Bonnie continued in silence until she realized that Elena had stopped talking. It was time!

"How old are you?" Bonnie asked curiously.

"I'm seventeen years old and you are too, Right?"

The sound of the door made them both see Abby walk in with a sweet smile on her face directed at Elena. "Honey, can you leave me alone with Bonnie?"

"Yes mom…" and she left the room.

Bonnie just rolled her eyes. She had nothing against the girl, but hearing her call Abby that way, she hated it.

"What happened?" Abby asked after closing the door safely.

Of course, the Abby she knew was always direct.

Taking a deep breath.

"What happened? I'll tell you what happened. The jerk Alexander lunged at me and hit me just as I was trying to get out, if it hadn't been for Enzo, maybe he would have dared to do something else, Mom."

Abigail approached her without any expression of guilt or remorse, least of all when Bonnie called her, Mom in such a derogatory tone.

"I told you very well that you wait there because I sent someone to look for you, but as always, Bonnie, you never listen to me."

Abby inspected the blow, but Bonnie pulled away. Abby had guessed it, but she wasn't referring to that when she asked, being more specific.

"What happened with Damon?"

And Bonnie smiled in disgust, Of course… the Abby she knew didn't give a damn what had happened to her.

"Nothing happened.", responding reluctantly.

After a long look Abby nodded. She did not want to delve further into the subject, she knew that despite everything Bonnie would never open her mouth.

"Listen to me very well Bonnie, you will behave in the best way with John and Elena, especially with Elena... you-"

"I'm going…", Bonnie said abruptly.

Abby looked at her with amusement and began to laugh at her daughter's naivete.

"Why do you think you have that option?"

Bonnie opened her eyes and didn't hesitate to claim at her "You left me, you left me with that man and his son and at no time did you care." Bonnie didn't want to sound hurt, but she was.

"It was five months Abby. You said you would not leave me again, but you did. You left me alone there."

Abby rolled her eyes "You're here and that's the only thing that matters."

Bonnie walked over to her mother.

"Until when? Until you get tired of all this lying and come back looking for another man like a fucking bitch!" her words were full of contempt and truth.

A truth that disturbed Abby's control. She tried to slap her daughter.

but not this time!

Bonnie grabbed her arm tightly.

"I'm not eight years old anymore, Abby, and take a good look at me, this hit will be the last I receive, I'll never allow someone to hit me again, not even you. Did you hear me?"

Bonnie dropped the arm. She was no longer afraid of her.

The bond of mother and daughter had long since been broken. They both confirmed it while looking into each other's eyes.

"You will not leave, and if you do, I will look for you again. I know you are no longer a child, but you are still a minor, and as long as that is so you will be in my custody." Abby looked at her with a triumphant smile.

Bonnie blinked several times without understanding, Why?

"why can't you let me go? You finally have what you've always wanted, a man with money, a huge house, a new adorable daughter. You don't need me, damn it, You don't even love me."

"You are my daughter."

"Then behave like a real mother. For the first time do something nice for me. Let me go…" Bonnie begged.

"I WILL NOT! you are my responsibility."

"Do not be a HYPOCRITE!"

Abby opened her eyes, they were forgetting where they were.

"shut up! I won't argue with you Bonnie, you are my daughter and you will stay here. I know you don't understand now, but everything I have done, I have done for you."

Bonnie widened her eyes in horror, what the hell? "Lie!, you're a liar… I never asked you for this, don't blame me for your bad decisions!"

Abby was tired of all the discussion.

"Enough alredy! we will stay here. I am John's wife and Elena's new mother, your stepsister. Look at everything around you, Bonnie. We will never be miserable again."

Deep down it was tempting to stay, but until when? until Abby felt like leaving again, no! She never liked living this way. She was not like Abigail.

"You are going to occupy this room with Elena and as I told you, you'd better behave yourself. I'll let you rest, I'll have someone bring you something to eat."

Bonnie didn't say anything.

The huge room stopped feeling so big when she was left completely alone in it.

Bonnie heard Abby say goodnight to Elena.

Even she heard the sound of a kiss.

And at no point did Abby do the same to her.

Maybe it was because she pretended to be asleep... or because Abigail simply never had a paltry show of sincere affection for her, her daughter.

But that didn't affect her, because Bonnie knew her mother very well and knew that she was just perfecting her role.

Anyway, tonight she would leave here.

In the middle of the night...

Bonnie left the house the same way she came in, with the only bagpack where she had packed her few belongings, there weren't many, but all she had worthily was hers.

With the same smile with which she left the place where she lived with Alexander and Enzo, Bonnie walked out the back door without making a sound. She was sure that after this, Abigail would never find her. Just a few steps and finally she would be free.

"Where are you going?"

Bonnie stopped in her tracks, Damn... not again.

"Are you sure you want to do this?"

Bonnie turned around and there he was. Damon, Does he live here? Of course he does.

God! He was becoming a real problem for her.

"And that what does it matter to you. Tell me? Why do you care? I don't even know you, and you're just trying to analyze me."

He was just holding her back. So Bonnie got going again.

"I know I don't have the right to tell you something, and I don't know why you don't want to stay here, but Mr. John is a good person, Elena is also... Despite being a bit spoiled, she is very sweet and I know she's very excited for you to be here, she never..."

Bonnie turned to him in annoyance. "Has she never had a sister? Yes, I know, she hasn't stopped repeating it and I'm tired of hearing it. As if that mattered to me," Bonnie snorted angrily.

"But if I look around, I think she has done very well without one. So tell me something," she got closer.

"And what about me? Someone asked me, What exactly do I want?, If I want to be Elena's sister?, If I want to be part of this?, because I don't want to." And she got closer more.

She was looking for a culprit and he was offering himself.

"I didn't even want to come to this place. You brought me here even when I asked you to let me go."

Damon's silence said a lot.

Yes, that's what she believed. Bonnie turned around again and went on her way.

But before taking a few steps, Damon began to speak.

"I grew up without parents. My mother died when I was a child. I never knew my father, all I have from him is his last name," He tried to speak to make her see reason.

And Bonnie stopped, looking up at the sky, Really? Will she pay attention to him?

"I lived most of my life in an orphanage. Until I went out and after a while I met Mr. John. He gave me the opportunity to work with him and here I am. The people here are really good,"

Damon wasn't sure if his words would have an effect on her, but at least he had made her stop. Right?

"I don't know what relationship you have with your mother." He was quick to say, "And I won't ask you about that, but I know what it's like to live without one. It's very difficult to be alone, I know, I know what it feels like."

Hell, why was he worried about her?

"Just think for a moment, what will you do alone in the middle of the night? Do you have somewhere to go?"

She was not his responsibility, he had his own problems to be aware of a girl who was possibly too stubborn and rebellious and... scared,

yes, maybe it was therefore.

Bonnie kept turning her back on him. She hadn't moved since he started talking. But she did not stop looking at the stars and she did not stop listening to him.

Yes, maybe he was right, she had nowhere to go... Where would she go? But she knew it was better to leave than stay here, she was afraid that at some point everything would get out of control and that she would be the only one harmed in all this. What happened with Alexander was more than enough to get a wake-up call. She would pay for her mother's sins. She was sure of that, and for that reason, she just wanted to run away from here.

With more calm Bonnie took a sigh and spoke slowly and softly, almost to the point of whispering, but Damon heard her well, he took a few steps closer, closing the distance while still being behind her.

"You know what my mother said when I told her that a man had hit me, when I told her that the same man who hit me was about to do something else to me, something that would surely have marked me for life..." Bonnie sighed with a melancholy look in her eyes.

Damon swallowed hard and clenched his fists listening to each word. So that's what had happened to her.

Bonnie turned around and met his blue eyes, a little surprised by his approach, but she did not flinch, with a sad smile she confessed her deepest pain.

"She didn't say anything... because my mother doesn't care, and let me tell you something... Why would these people matter to me if my mother doesn't give a damn what happens to me? Now I am the one who can assure you that you did not miss much by not having a mother, believe me."

Damon watched her carefully.

There was a heaviness in her gaze and a disguised sadness in her crooked smile.

Bonnie smiled bitterly,

"Besides, This..." she said pointing with her hands around her, "They, How can you know that they will be good to me? You don't know anything about me so you don't know what's good for me."

Bonnie clenched her hands and looked down. She was hesitating, why was she letting him make her hesitate?

Damon took the last steps to approach her, and he gently lifted her face.

"It's true, I don't know you, and I can't force you to stay, but tonight, please do not go. If you stay and later you decide to leave it's ok. Even I myself will take you anywhere you want to go."

It is a promise,

It is a promise?

the two of them thought at the same time.

Damon looked into her eyes, the color green captivated him.

"I assure you that if you stay, no one will ever hurt you again." that was another promise.

a pause.

It only took Bonnie a few seconds to decide. Did she really let herself be convinced of him?

a sigh.

"Will you take me anywhere I want to go?"

Damon shoved his hands into his pants pockets, and nodded with a small smile on his face.

"Wherever you want to go..."

They both walked back to the house in complete silence. Damon accompanied her by walking beside her, not to make sure she didn't leave, no. He just wanted to be with her for a few more seconds.

Before entering the house Bonnie stopped "Can I ask you a question?"

Damon blinked a bit thoughtfully, "Only if you answer mine."

He shot her a playful look, with the sole intention of making her smile, but at no point did Bonnie smile. She really knew how to embarrass him. A sudden cough made him hide his embarrassment.

Bonnie looked at him with narrowed eyes, Yes, he must be nineteen or twenty one at the most, but he seems like a nice guy and maybe he's a little funny.

"Okay... me first" Bonnie crossed her arms "Is Elena your girlfriend?" with her head bowed looking at him very carefully.

Damon blushed a little, and they both noticed. The question caught him off guard, and he quickly shook his head, "no, of course not... she-Elena is not my girlfriend. Why did you think something like that?"

Bonnie shrugged and turned around, "Good night."

Damon opened his eyes, "Hey, hey, wait I didn't ask my question."

"Of course you did. You just asked me a question." She did not give him a chance to reply and left him alone at the entrance of the house.

He smiled, How was it possible for this girl to make fun of him? Seriously Damon?

Bonnie closed the door behind her still smiling, she smiled for the first time since she had come to this place. She got her way and so did he.

Damon walked back to his room with a smile on his face. Yes, she got her way, but so did he.

In the window of the pink room, Elena saw everything, feeling strangely confused.
