Chapter 50: The World of Nobodies Part 1
Sora, Buster, Plucky, and Dizzy exits from the portal and appears in some kind of dark alleyway. They went out of the alleyway and saw that they are in a city with a white floating castle and a yellow heart-shaped moon.
World: The World That Never Was
Sora: Axel said Kairi's in the dungeon.
Buster: Then we better find a way to get into that castle.
Buster ran ahead with Sora, Plucky, and Dizzy following him. The trio fought many Heartless Shadows along the way, until they reached a street in front of a skyscraper. They looked up and saw the castle. Suddenly, it was raining and lightning came from the sky. Sora was about to walk forward, when suddenly...
Plucky: SORA!
Sora turns around to see Plucky and Dizzy being blocked by Samurais.
Sora: Plucky! Dizzy!
He ran back to help them, but then a strange wind starts blowing. He turns around and saw a hooded figure appearing from a dark portal. The figure summons his Keyblade called the Oblivion. It is a black Keyblade with bat-shaped handles.
Sora: A Keyblade?
The figure ran up to Sora with his Keyblade and was about to attack, but Sora blocks it with his own Keyblade. Suddenly, Sora and the figure teleports to a giant stained glass of Sora. The figure now carries the Oathkeeper along with Oblivion. The figure charges at Sora with two Keyblades. He slashed Sora multiple times, doing alot of damage. He then fires multiple pillars of light at Sora, doing even more damage. He then surrounds himself with the light pillars, floats in the air, and fires multiple beams of light at the edges of the platform, making a bright flash. When the flash dies down, the skies are now showing golden clouds. The figure fires multiple spheres of light at Sora, doing even more damage. Sora was panting heavily.
Sora: He is...very powerful...I need...to go...into my...Limit Form.
Sora activates his Limit Form and got back to fighting the figure. He uses Sonic Blade, Strike Raid, and Zantetsuken. Each attack did alot of damage to the figure. Sora finished him off by using Ragnarok, slashing him multiple times, and firing energy spheres at him, doing alot more damage. The figure stood back up after the attack and went back to fighting with Sora. The both locked their Keyblades at each other.
Sora: Wh-who are you?
?: Someone from the dark.
They both jumped back.
Sora: You can't be Riku?
?: Riku? I defeated a Riku once.
Sora: You what?
?: Tell me...Tell me why he picked you!
The figure charges at Sora with two Keyblades. He slashed with the Oblivion, but Sora dodged it. He attacks with two Keyblades, but Sora blocks them. He attacks with the Oathkeeper, but Sora blocks it again. He jumps overhead and slashed Sora again, but he dodged the figure's Keyblades. Sora jumps so high with the figure following him. They both clashed their Keyblades again. Sora lands back on the ground, while the figure is floating in the air.
?: I see. That's why.
The figure flew back down and went back to clashing with Sora. Sora dodged every attack from the figure and blocks his Keyblades. The figure keeps striking down Sora's Keyblade, until he knocks it out of his hands. Sora ran to his Keyblade, but the figure threw the Oathkeeper on it's handle, making Sora stop. The figure points the Oblivion at Sora. He clenched his fist and reached out to his Keyblade. The Keyblade disappears, making the figure gasp.
?: What?
The Keyblade reappears in Sora's hand and he slashed the figure. The figure drops his Keyblades and had a flashback. The flashback shows Roxas in front of the old mansion in Disney Town. A hooded figure appears in front of him.
?: You seek answers.
The figure waves his hand and shows the letters "SORA."
?: You feel nothing. Nothing is real. I can give you purpose.
The figure waves his hand again and the letters spins around Roxas. Suddenly, a X appears in front of Roxas and the letters formed "ROXAS."
Roxas: Roxas.
The figure reveals his face to be Xemnas.
Xemnas: That is right. The new you.
The flashback cuts to Roxas on Disney Town's clock tower. He has his face in his knees, then got up.
?: Look who's finally awake.
Roxas gasped and saw Axel next to him.
Roxas: Axel...
Axel: Or, maybe I have it wrong. Might be time to sleep. Soon, we won't be able to talk like this anymore.
Roxas: Does that mean...it's time for me to go back to where I belong?
Axel: You know, I've been thinking about something Namine said. Roxas, are you really sure that you don't have a heart? Is it possible that we all have one? You, me, her...Or is that just wishful thinking?
Roxas: I dunno. I can't...just look inside.
Axel: Yeah, I guess not.
Roxas: But I figure, if there is something in there, inside us, then we'd feel it, wouldn't we? And if so...No, never mind.
Axel: Come on, don't leave me hanging.
Roxas: Sora will find the answer we're looking for. I know he will. Because he's me.
Axel: True enough.
He hands Roxas a sea salt ice cream.
Roxas: Thanks.
They both eat their ice creams.
Axel: Man, I miss the old times. Still got it memorized? The day we met, when you got your new name, you and I sat right here and watched the sun set.
Roxas: Yeah. This place is home. Me, Mickey, Donald, Minnie...We've shared alot of adventures.
Axel: You'll see them again. I know you will.
Roxas: Yeah, you're right. Well, I should go. Sora's waiting for me.
Axel: Yeah, I suppose he is.
He took a bite of his ice cream.
Axel: Man, this is some good ice cream, huh?
After watching Disney Town for a few minutes, Roxas got surrounded by light.
Roxas: Take care, OK?
Axel: Right back at ya, buddy.
He sheds a tear. Back to the present, when the figure walks passed Sora, he flinched and took his hood down, revealing himself to be Roxas. He turns to Sora.
Roxas: You make a good other.
Suddenly, Sora returns to the city.
Sora: You make a good other.
Plucky and Dizzy walks up to him.
Plucky: Are you OK?
Sora: What...just happened?
Dizzy: Me no know. Sora disappeared. Dizzy and Plucky had to fight Nobodies.
Sora: He said...he defeated Riku...
Plucky: Who said that?
Sora: That guy...in the black coat.
Plucky: But nobody could defeat Riku.
Sora: Yeah, you're right.
Dizzy: A black coat mean Organization XIII. He must be trying to trick Sora.
Plucky: Yeah, that must be why we didn't see him. You must be tired, Sora.
Dizzy: Come on, let find way to get into castle!
The trio starts walking to the castle. Then Sora stops and looks at the Keychain called Two Become One. He equips it and the Keyblade now looks like a white blade with black and white spikes for the teeth. He also has a Secret Ansem Report. He caught up to Buster, Plucky, and Dizzy. The four walks up to the castle, but stops at a cliff.
Sora: A dead end?
Buster: There's gotta be a path somewhere.
Meanwhile, in the castle dungeon, Kairi and Furrball are in a prison cell. Kairi was sitting down looking depressed. Furrball walks up to her.
Furrball: Don't worry, Kairi. I'm sure somebody will rescue us.
Kairi: I hope you're right.
She pets Furrball on the head. Suddenly, Furrball hears something.
Furrball: What was that?
Kairi: I'll go and see.
She stood up, ran up to the cage, and saw Saix.
Kairi: What are you gonna do with us?
Saix: You're the fire that feeds Sora's anger.
He walks away.
Kairi: No...Sora's in danger, because of me...
Furrball: Kairi!
Kairi turns around and saw a dark portal with Namine inside. She is holding out her hand.
Namine:(Whispers)This way!
Kairi: Who...?
Namine:(Whispers)Believe in yourself. Come on, hurry!
Kairi walks over to Namine. When she grabs her hand, a bright light glows on their hands. Back with our heroes, they saw a bright light in the castle. The Keyblade appears on Sora's hand and he points it at the castle. The Keyblade fires a beam and a bridge of light appears.
Sora: Kairi...We're almost there.
The gang ran up to the castle, until they reached the entrance.
Sora: Kairi! Where are you?
Buster ran up to him with his finger over his hand.
Buster: Shh!(Whispers)Remember where we are! This is their stronghold!
He ran forward.
Plucky: WAIT! Your Majesty!
Dizzy: Be careful! Dizzy think we got company!
Meanwhile, Kairi, Namine, and Furrball are running down the castle. Suddenly, Saix appears in front of them, making them stop. Some Berserkers are behind him.
Saix: Namine...There you are.
Kairi: Namine?
Saix: Kairi, I'm afraid leaving is not an option.
He offers his hand.
Saix: I'll take you to see Sora.
Kairi backs away.
Saix: You don't want that?
Kairi: I do. More than anything. But not with you around.
Kairi, Namine, and Furrball got in their fighting stances.
Saix: If I had a heart, this would be where I die of laughter.
Suddenly, he turns around to see one of his Nobodies fall to the ground. A hooded figure with a new Keyblade appears. His Keyblade looks like the Soul Eater, except that it has a handle that has a demon wing and an angel wing and a tooth that looks like a gray angel wing.
Saix: You...Didn't Roxas take care of you?
Namine: You can take it from here, Riku.
Kairi: Riku?
The figure's Keyblade disappears. Then the figure fires a dark fireball at Saix. Saix took a hit and the figure pushed him to a wall. Saix smirks, making a dark portal behind him appear, and disappears through it. The figure was about to follow him.
Kairi: WAIT!
The figure stops. Furrball walks up to him.
Furrball: Thank you for helping us.
Kairi walks up to the figure.
Kairi: Riku...You're really here...
She took off the hood, but to her shock, she saw Ansem. Back to the trio, they went through the castle fighting Nobodies, including a new type called the Sorcerers. They are white-robed Nobodies. They attack with psychic cubes, doing some damage to the trio, but they still managed to finish them off. They proceeded to the elevator. The elevator starts moving up and some Nobodies appeared. The trio manages to take them out and proceeds to go to the next room. The room is a giant hall with an upper floor. Saix appears from the upper floor.
Saix: Sora...You've done well.
The trio looks up to see him.
Sora: Where's Kairi?
Saix: Who knows? I expect she's catching up with her friend from the darkness.
Sora: What do you mean?
Saix: She doesn't need you anymore.
Sora: I'm supposed to believe that?
Saix: Well, you don't have to...But you can believe this...Organization XIII has no further use for you...Just look there.
He points to the moon.
Saix: Our Kingdom Hearts...Thanks to you, we've collected countless hearts...Can you hear their euphoria? Now, all they need is one more helping from the Keyblade bearer!
He snaps his finger and an army of Heartless appeared. They surrounded the trio.
Plucky: We gotta fight!
Sora: But...Kingdom Hearts!
?: SORA!
Sora looks up to where the voice was coming from and saw Kairi on a balcony.
Kairi: Sora! It's really you!
Sora: Kairi!
Suddenly, the Shadows jumped on Sora.
Kairi: You leave Sora alone!
She backs up and jumps off the balcony to the lower level. Furrball follows her. Suddenly, the Shadows surrounded them and jumps on them.
Kairi: Sora...!
Suddenly, the Heartless got eradicated by Ansem. He helps Kairi get up and gave her a Keyblade with a red and yellow blade, flowers for teeth, and a heart-shaped handle.
Ansem: Take it.
Kairi took the Keyblade.
Kairi: This time...I'll fight! You know Sora's completely hopeless without us! Come on, Riku!
Furrball: I'll fight, too! If Plucky and Dizzy can fight, then so can I!
Kairi and Furrball ran towards the Heartless. Kairi took out some Heartless. Furrball even retracts his claws and took out some Heartless himself. Ansem took out his Keyblade and joins the fight as well. Saix watched the fight from above the balcony. Then he looks across and saw Ganondorf, Monty, and Team Rocket on the other balcony.
Saix: Well, well. Will the intrusions never end.
He disappears through a dark portal.
Ganondorf: Why, Monty, Team Rocket...This castle is perfect. Perhaps we should...acquire it.
Monty: Well, the setup is...kinda nice, I guess. But...what about the Heartless?
Meowth: Yeah, dis in-between world. It's way too close to da darkness! Dey won't listen to us here!
Ganondorf: Once again, you underestimate me.
Meanwhile, Buster is running upstairs, taking out Heartless and Nobodies along the way. Suddenly, he saw alot of Dusks surrounding a person. Buster took them out and saved Diz. Diz weakly got up and took the bandages off his face, revealing himself as Ansem the Wise.
Ansem the Wise: It's been too long, my friend.
Buster: Ansem the Wise. Why didn't you come to me, before things got so bad?
Ansem the Wise: Xemnas, the Organization's Superior, is the Nobody of Xehanort, my foremost apprentice. The burden was mine to bear.
Buster: Is that all?
Ansem the Wise turns around, walks over to the ledge, and looks off at the distance.
Ansem the Wise: I won't deny there was more. I was...obsessed with thoughts of revenge. My apprentices stole everything precious to me...my research, and my pride.
Buster: I can't help you with revenge.
Ansem the Wise: I know. Riku's told me a thousand times.
Buster: Where is he?
Ansem the Wise: He must be with his friends by now. Riku was a great help to me. I found him wandering the darkness, after you and he lost track of each other.
Buster: We didn't lose each other exactly. Riku left...Well, cause Xehanort's Heartless was still inside his heart, troubling him. And he sure must have been suffering. But what I don't understand is why he looks like that now, when he's still Riku at heart.
Ansem the Wise: I am to blame. When I met Riku the first time, he still had the appearance of a boy. Probably because he had a strong heart. I asked him to find a young man named Roxas from Organization XIII and bring him to me. When I told him it would help Sora awaken from his slumber, Riku left without a word. He fought Roxas. And I can only surmise Riku lost that fight. Riku must have realized then: to fight in the Realm of Darkness, he would have to immerse himself in that same darkness. And when he did, you saw what became of him. When Riku brought Roxas back to me, he was introducing himself as Ansem. If that was what it took to awaken his friend, he was ready to live in darkness. Riku was the victim of my revenge. Oh, how my heart ached. I could only laugh to hide my shame.
Buster: I guess it musta been after that when I saw Riku again. He said he wanted to help Sora...But he made me a promise. Promise that Sora wouldn't ever find out about what happened to him, while he was out in the darkness.
Ansem the Wise looks at Buster.
Ansem the Wise: My friend, the time has come. I must make amends to these young people.
He walks over to a machine and picks it up. Buster follows him. Back with Sora, he's still struggling with the Heartless on him.
Sora: Get off!
He managed to shake them off and stood up. He looks up and saw Kairi, Ansem, and Furrball fighting off some Heartless.
Sora: What's going on?
Suddenly, a red diamond-shaped laser came down to the platform. Sora looks up and saw a bunch of lasers raining down, taking out the Heartless.
?: Have you been a good boy?
Sora: Show yourself!
A dark portal appears and Xigbar came out of it.
Xigbar: Oh, it sounds like you haven't. Sora! Roxas!
Sora: Roxas?
He looks back at Plucky:
Sora: Hey, did he just call me Roxas?
Plucky nods.
Xigbar: You've really put Organization XIII in a pickle. I guess that must be why the Keyblade chose you. But man, did it pick a dud this time. You don't look like you're half the hero the others were.
Sora: Are you done rambling?
Xigbar: Rambling? As if! All I'm trying to tell you, traitor, is that your time is up!
He summons his two purple crossbow guns.
Dizzy: Here he come!
Xigbar jumps down to the platform the trio were on and was about to battle them.
Xigbar: You really shouldn't have betrayed us.
Xigbar combines his guns and teleports to a balcony. He fires multiple lasers at Sora, But he uses Reflect to block the attack. Xigbar teleports back to the battlefield and was floating upside down. He fires multiple lasers at Sora, but he dodged most of the lasers.
Sora: Is that the best you can do?
Xigbar: I'm only getting started.
Xigbar teleports two of his guns next to Sora and fired multiple lasers at him, doing some damage. He then charges his guns to fire a giant laser at Sora, doing alot more damage.
Sora: OK, I've underestimated him.
Plucky: We should try Master Form again.
Sora: Good idea. Let's do it!
Sora, Plucky, and Dizzy merged again to become Master Form, but this time, Sora's clothes are different. His clothes are white and his two Keyblades are telekinetically floating. He is in his Final Form. He is carrying the Bond of Flame and the Two Become One Keyblades.
Sora: WHOA! I didn't know I have this new form. This is really cool!
Sora starts floating to Xigbar and fires multiple white arrows at him, doing alot of damage. He then fires multiple Firaga, Blizzaga, and Thundaga spells at Xigbar, doing even more damage. He finished Xigbar off with a Spin Attack, doing alot more damage. Xigbar fell back to the ground. He stood up and tried to aim at Sora, but he fell on his knee and drops his weapons.
Sora: Why did you call me Roxas?
Xigbar:(Chuckles)Wouldn't you like to know...
He starts to disappear.
Sora: Wait! Hold on!
Xigbar fades from existence.
Plucky: Sora, it's Kairi!
He points up to Kairi.
Sora: We better go help her!
Plucky & Dizzy: Right!
Meanwhile, back with Buster and Ansem the Wise, they looked down the balcony to see Kairi, Ansem, and Furrball still fighting the Heartless.
Buster: Uh-oh, they need our help!
Ansem the Wise: Sora and Riku are together. We have no part to play here.
Buster: I wonder if Riku will ever change back...
Ansem the Wise: Riku chose that form, so he use the power of darkness. It won't be easy.
The two walks away from the balcony. Back with the trio.
Sora: Kairi, we're on our way!
Before the trio could leave the platform, Sora picks up the Secret Ansem Report. The trio left the platform and went climbing up the castle again, battling Nobodies along the way. Meanwhile, at the very top of the castle, many pink lights are flying towards Kingdom Hearts. Xemnas was watching from the castle.
Xemnas: Yes...Kingdom Hearts...Rejoice, and feast on these hearts we offer. Shine your pale light on this empty realm. Share your power with all Nobodies.
Suddenly, a dark portal appears and Saix came out.
Saix: Xemnas, is Kingdom Hearts ready?
Xemnas: Very soon.
Saix: Then I can end this charade?
Xemnas turns to him.
Xemnas: Indeed.
Saix smirks.
Saix: How I've waited to hear that.
Back with the trio, they ran back to the big hallway, but on the upper floor where Kairi, Ansem, and Furrball are at.
Plucky: Kairi, you were great!
Kairi: Oh?
She turns around to see the trio and gasped. Sora and Kairi walks to each other.
Sora: You are different, Kairi. But I'm just glad you're here.
Kairi: You and Riku never came home, so I came looking for you.
Sora: I'm sorry.
Kairi ran up to Sora and hugs him.
Kairi: This is real...
Sora hugs her back. Furrball walks back to Plucky and Dizzy. The three toons looked at each other and giggles. Ansem creates a dark portal behind him and was about to walk into it, but Sora stops him.
Sora: Wait, Ansem! I mean, Xehanort's Heartless...I never thought for a second that I'd ever see you again. Just thinking about all the things you did makes me really mad. But...But you saved Kairi, right? I have to be grateful for that. Thanks.
Ansem didn't say anything and just walks away, but Kairi ran up to him and grabs him arm, making him stop.
Kairi: Riku, don't go!
Sora, Plucky, and Dizzy were shocked.
Sora: Kairi, what did you just say?
Kairi turns to the gang.
Kairi: Riku.
Ansem: I'm no one...Just a castaway from the darkness.
Kairi: Sora, come here. Say something to him.
Sora walks over to them. Kairi grabs his hand.
Kairi: Here. You'll understand.
She puts their hands together.
Kairi: Close your eyes.
Sora closed his eyes and saw Riku in his mind. He opens his eyes again.
Sora: Riku...
He falls to his knees.
Sora: It's Riku. Riku's here...I looked for you!
Riku: Come on, Sora. You've gotta pull it together.
Sora: I looked everywhere for you!
Riku: I didn't want you to find me.
Dizzy: But it was Riku that help us, right? Those clues we find. That must be Riku.
Riku: I was starting to worry you guys wouldn't ever catch on. Sora never did pick the brightest friends.
Plucky: What do you mean by that?
Sora: Why didn't you let me know you were OK?
Riku: I told you...I didn't wanna be found.
He looks at himself.
Riku: Not like this...I couldn't. I fought with Ansem. With...Xehanort's Heartless, when it invaded my heart, and I won. But to use the power of darkness, I had to become Ansem myself.
Kairi: Does that mean...you can't change back?
Riku: This battle isn't over. And until it is, I still need the power of darkness.
Sora: Then...let's finish it! You're still Riku, no matter what!
Plucky, Dizzy, and Furrball nods. Sora turns to the three toons.
Sora: So, how about it? Think we can handle one last rumble together? Buster's waiting!
Plucky: Yeah! Let's get going!
Before the gang could reach the higher levels of the castle, Riku gave Sora the Oblivion Keychain. He equips it and the Keyblade became the Oblivion. Back with Buster and Ansem the Wise, they climbed to a higher part of the castle.
Ansem the Wise: This spot should do.
He placed his machine on the ground and points it at Kingdom Hearts.
Buster: What's this gadget for?
Ansem the Wise: It's a device to reclaim Kingdom Hearts and encode it as data.
Buster: Not sure I get it.
Ansem the Wise: I do not claim to know the outcome of this venture, either. After all...Hearts are unpredictable.
He fires a beam from the machine at Kingdom Hearts.
That's it for chapter 50. Next time, Sora will battle the remaining Organization XIII members.
