There in the morning sky, another earth loomed in its own brilliance. The atmosphere of both worlds just barely touching. It's frightening. It's beautiful and also scientific inexplicable. As the masses begins to panic and the sirens from the city cried loudly in the city speaker, Natsu could feel his heart throb painfully in his chest.
Natsu wiped the sweat from his brows before continuing with his scout. Slowly, his eyes climbed to the new sight that became a hit wonder amongst locals. His mouth slacking for the billionth time of the day just from the sheer sight of the planet that appeared in the morning.
The other earth.
The other earth touching their own planet.
And most shocking, the other earth that held civilization in it's own arms.
Just from where Natsu stood, he could make out a forms of terrains, a bit of landscape and movement on the other earth
From the moment he had dropped his apple until now, his eyes always wandered to the sky. Wonder began to fill his thoughts of who could possibly be there. Can they see his earth as well? Can they see the mountains? Make out the hills of broken robots and the walls of the city?
"Hey Natsu!" A manly voice called out to the pinkette, snapping Natsu out of his reverie. His thoughts would have to wait later. Maybe he could head home and set up the telescope. He would have to run a bit faster if he wanted to spend more time looking at this phenomenon.
"Sorry about that, what's up?" Natsu called back, eyes raising to meet his supervisor. Romeo's dad. Macao Conbolt. The older man was taking a short break on the side. His bag lying beside his feet with a bunch of mechanical stuff.
"You looking up there as well?" Natsu nodded in response. How could he not? For someone who was always looking up at the stars, wouldn't it just make sense if he was always looking there today?
"It's a sight to behold, thats for sure." Macao chuckled, taking a swig of his bottle. Natsu guessed it was filled with alcohol. Again.
The pinkette climbed over to where the dark-haired older man settled and removed his own bag from his shoulders. Carefully settling it on the ground in case he might damage the telescope.
"I'm still surprised as anyone. Maybe surprise is an understatement." Macao continued, looking up at the other earth as well. Nodding with amazement before taking a quick glance at Natsu. Who was looking up at the sky.
"You gonna go look at it afterwards?" Natsu looked back at Macao. A sheepish smile climbing on his face.
"Yeah," Natsu laughed, "I found a telescope yesterday so... I'll have fun tonight." Macao blinked before laughing along with the pinkette.
Macao threw a hand over Natsu's shoulder. A tight grip to keep the boy in place. His eyes casted down before a grim smile crept up to his face,
"Natsu... are you okay?"
This caught the boy slightly offguard. It had been a two years since he felt... that dirty feeling. The feeling of being abandoned and taken for granted. And honestly, he would be lying if he said he was not affected.
"Well... I'm improving. Slowly but surely." He replied.
Before the world leaders chose to take the benefits of an advanced era, Natsu was swell with his life. It was grand and the life he was living was filled with happiness. A father that adopted him. And... someone he truly loved. Life couldn't get better than that, he dreamed. His plans were going into place and it never occurred to him that it could change drastically.
But the shift happened. His father died during a protest. Shot by a military robot and was disposed in the worst ways possible.
And then he was abandoned. He had no idea that the person he had wanted to spend his lifetime with - just left him. She had hurt him emotionally, and physically, firing a rifle twice his way. She had already taken funds from the accounts and took the things that mattered to him. Not before crushing him entirely and leaving for good.
"Did you truly think that I loved you? How delusional. You're pathetic."
And that hurt. That fucking hurt.
And the only way he could at the very least, heal from that, was to look away from the walls. The place where she went. And that's why he never liked looking at the walls. Although it's big enough to be caught in his peripheral vision, the pinkette had trained himself well to blur out any chance of it reaching his sights.
Hence, his hobby of looking to the stars.
At the very least, he won't be hurt again.
"But on a brighter note, I think I might be able to move on properly." Natsu added, leaning back on the piled robotic parts and gazing aimlessly at the other earth. "I think that I can finally say that I'm okay soon. Without hesitating."
Macao smiled, "I'm glad for you Natsu. You're incredibly strong"
The boy laughed, "I know. It's only natural that I am." The older man let out a full hearted laugh.
"Are you kidding me? You were as skinny as a branch after locking yourself away." The two shared a chorus of laugh before standing up again. Stretching carefully to continue scouting. Picking his stuff, Natsu fastened his scout bag tightly before taking another look to the other earth.
"You think there's people up there? Or maybe aliens? Monkeys?" Macao called out, tightening the straps on his shoes and slapping his stomach for the heck of it. Natsu muffled another laugh at the strange mans' antics.
"Who knows? Maybe?" Natsu replied. If there was, it would truly be exciting to discover it all soon.
The sky brightened a little, and then without a second, numerous lights filled the skies as the telltale of meteor showers began their display.
Natsu smiled happily.
After scouting with Macao, the older man was generous enough to call their time short with an extra two hours of time to waste away. And if Natsu hadn't know Macao, he would've worshipped the male and kissed his disgustingly dirty boots.
Thus, bringing the pinkette to his current situation.
He had wandered to other areas of the city where he was not familiar. Searching for abandoned supermarkets and other smaller stores. And he found a much better building that brought sheer happiness. A shopping mall with two food courts and a shopping market on the lowest floor.
So there he was, dragging four stolen backpacks from a nearby store into the supermarket and stuffing it with necessities and unnecessary items. Rough hands grabbing the bags tightly, throwing them over his shoulder and treading carefully back home. His own scout bag was strapped to his front, to avoid damage from the stolen goods.
On the way back, he ventured into a bookstore and grabbed blank notebooks, a couple of pens and paint. He felt pretty creative tonight and somehow, he had a damn good feeling that tonight was the night to just unwind.
The way back to his house wasn't too far.
After arriving back, he quickly unloaded the goods and placed the foods carefully in the kitchen area. Stacking them carefully to where they should go and loading the cold food into the fridge. He stacked the canned goods in the nearby cupboards and carefully placed the cleaning detergents underneath the sink.
The beeping of the microwave brought another smile on his face. The warm delicious scent of roast beef and mash potatoes wafted in the air, causing the pinkette's stomach to growl. He unhatched the door, brought out the food out and started his way upwards to where he would watch the stars. Cutlery in the other hand, balanced with his scout bag.
"Good food..." Natsu murmured with a dreamy face. Settling the plate on the side to slightly cool whilst he start setting up the telescope. Fixing it the same way as he had done the previous night. Finally getting used to the equipment, he was much faster at putting them together. Completion was welcomed in a span of less than five minutes.
"There we go." Natsu breathed out. Settling on the floorboards, folding his legs and grabbing the plate on the side.
The taste of roast meat caused his stomach to melt in sheer happiness. Although it was those quick-microwave kind of meals, the taste never felt even more better after a long day of scouting and a trend of significant events.
As hungry as he was, the meal was finished quickly but it left a satisfied stomach. Natsu quickly jumped down in the kitchen to put his plate in the sink, wash his hands and bring a bottled water, a blank notebook and a pencil.
He took a swig of water. Sighing happily and prepared himself to look at the other earth.
Thoughts were circulating in his head.
He didn't know what he was going to see. Or who he was going to see. Whatever, it would be best if he note down his experiences. Making sure his hand was dry, he carefully picked up the pencil. The notebook was pushed open and he noted the date and time of this first time experience. A silly smile came to his face about how he probably looked madly insane from smiling too much.
Nevertheless, the pinkette leaned down and looked through the scope. The pencil in his hand dropped with an audible thud. His mouth dropped again for the umpteenth time of the day. His mind exploding from amazement and bewildered from the images he was seeing.
There in the small scope, he could make out a large building. A mansion if you will. It was surrounded by well kept trees and it seemed that the area was owned by a couple of rich bastards. Or a notorious family. Whichever. He moved the telescope slightly and could make out vehicles similar to the ones on his own planet.
Then he saw people.
Maids. Butlers. Helpers. Groundsmen.
Smiling and talking happily amongst themselves.
His heart throbbed a little in jealousy. Knowing fully well he shouldn't. But sometimes seeing others like this, makes him remember things he tried so hard to bury.
His hand moved the telescope back to the mansion. His other hand picked up the dropped pencil. He could sketch out the building and show it to Romeo and Macao. And maybe, he could invite them over to see all of this for himself.
He could show them that there are people like them exists.
He could sketch out the vehicles. The scenery and the landscapes that makes up the vast country.
He could also make a plan for those suffering like him to leave this miserable place and be there.
If he could calculate how far their planets were from each other, he could perhaps build something to be stable enough to travel and take millions to the other planet.
He could-
The pencil dropped again for the second time that night.
There. Sitting by the window of an open-balcony room, was a blonde girl look directly in the sky. Her brown eyes captivated by the sky. Her soft smile was on her face as she stared up. The wind seemed to blow on her side, so Natsu watched as she gracefully reached up and hold her hair back in place. Although, some strands has managed to escape.
And it seemed like time stopped when she suddenly, looked his way and smiled.
Ooooohhh. Who is that (lol who am i kidding)
Now I'm going to start prettying my third chapter. Please look forward for it.
Lots of love,
B7K.
