Welcome to the third chapter!
Let's get this thing on the road already, lols. So there's going to be a little more for you guys to know:
This is Natsu
This is Lucy
This is just a reminder: please check out the video that inspired me to write this story. As I have mentioned this before, I have written this from Natsu's perspective using this music. But of course, you don't have to do it. I just thought if you would like to know where I got this inspiration from, here it is.
Anyways, without further ado. Let's continue on with the story.
Preview:
There. Sitting by the window of an open-balcony room, was a blonde girl look directly in the sky. Her brown eyes captivated by the sky. Her soft smile was on her face as she stared up. The wind seemed to blow on her side, so Natsu watched as she gracefully reached up and hold her hair back in place. Although, some strands has managed to escape.
And it seemed like time stopped when she suddenly, looked his way and smiled.
It felt like he couldn't breath anymore.
The air just didn't seem to fill his lungs.
His heart felt tight and his stomach felt like it was going to cartwheel out of his shirt.
His heart felt like it could just pound its way out of his body.
And it seems that she knew someone was looking at her.
He watched as she waved her hands towards the sky... or rather, towards him. And feeling like an idiot, he waved back. And smacked himself mentally. What the hell was he doing? Was he actually waving to someone on the other planet?
The thought made his insides feel weird. Like it was going to melt his whole form away into simply happiness.
Suddenly, she made a weird gesture towards him. Or to the sky. Whichever she was doing, it seemed like she made a 'wait' gesture? So was she telling him to wait for her? He laughed to himself. She seemed really cute too. Then she ran into her room and disappeared for a couple of minutes.
But Natsu didn't mind.
This whole thing with her seemed quite adventurous. It was fun and thrilling. But words couldn't really explain how he felt, to be honest. Just conversing with another person from another world? It was exciting, it made hairs on his forearms and the back of his neck rise.
And she came back.
She ran out towards the balcony with a notepad and a pen as well. Then she ran back inside and brought out... a telescope?
He laughed again. Really, she was just too cute. Her face was slightly tinted red and her hair was slightly dishevelled. He watched as she flicked open the book almost impatiently. Reaching a blank page and writing rather feverously on the page. Then she showed it to him.
Can you see me?
He blinked. They spoke the same language? Tears rushed up to his face. He was actually talking to someone from the other earth? The times he had spent watching the sky and looking daringly at the stars. It seemed like the wait was worth it. The daydreams that had built upon themselves whenever he wondered about life beyond the sky.
Quickly wiping the tears away from his eyes, Natsu reached to the dropped pencil and picked it up. Quickly scribbling. He looked back into the telescope and now. They were both looking at each other. She was looking in her telescope!
He leaned back and waved to the sky. And he wondered why the hell he did that. Because... it was to be polite? It's only polite to wave to someone who waved first to you, right? That doesn't change regardless of being worlds apart. Literally. Right?
Then he looked back into the telescope. She was laughing. And crying too? Maybe she felt the same way he did. Or not. He could probably be wrong.
He raised his notebook up.
I can.
He looked back in the telescope. She seemed surprised. Her mouth was slightly open. She scribbled something back onto the notepad.
You can see me? Really?
Natsu laughed at her writing. She must've written that pretty fast as it was a little bit sluggish. He scribbled on his notebook.
Really. I can. Are you okay? You were laughing one minute, and then you were crying.
She seemed embarrased. Her hands back to writing on the notepad.
Ah. I'm just happy. I'm talking to someone from the another world. We could understand each other's languages.
She paused before continuing writing.
I'm happy. Incredibly happy.
And he understood why. He felt the same way. The same amount of overflowing emotions. He understood it all.
Me too. I didn't think this could happen too.
She was definitely crying. A lot more harder and by the looks of it, seems like it was loud too. A couple of women rushed outside to her side. Looking at her and asking questions with how their mouths were moving. A worried look were all on their faces. Some offered a tissue of some sort. And she shook her head and accepted the tissue. He watched as she talked a little bit and one by one, they filed out of view.
Her hand scribbled something.
I'm sorry for the late response. Just got something stuck in my eye.
He laughed. She really was too cute. His hand reached over to the pencil and jotted down some words.
Sure. Whatever you say. That's a lot of tissue for something that was stuck.
He chuckled lightly as her face turned slightly red. He couldn't tell if she was getting mad or she was simply embarrassed that he pretty much saw everything. It seemed like it was a little bit of both.
Okay. Maybe I did cry. Geez. He smiled.
That's okay. I did as well.
He watched as she was in the middle of writing something before her head raised up and looked behind. It seemed like someone called out to her. She mouthed a couple of words, nodded and then ripped the current page of her notepad. Jotting down something new.
I'm sorry. I have to go now. It's almost dinner and I have to get ready soon. He was a little sad but, of course she does have a life of her own as well.
That's okay.
He was about to write down his farewells until she quickly wrote something.
But I want to keep talking withyou. He smiled. A little too widely for his own taste. And he probably looked like a whole clown.
Me too. I want to talk with you a lot more. Would you have time tomorrow?
And now look at him. Asking a complete stranger to continue sharing conversations with him. And now he looked completely shameless. Utterly ridiculous.
Yes. I do. Same time tomorrow? His beating heart throbbed with excitement. She wanted to talk with him too! He wanted to jump around, throw things and scream with happiness. But of course, she was watching through her own telescope and knowing she's waiting for his response - so he's not gonna that anytime soon. Not while she's looking.
Okay. Let's do that too. Go eat already, you weirdo. He smacked himself mentally. Geez Natsu, you just met the girl and you're already giving her a nickname? He already lost a few bits of screws and now, he has royally screwed his image.
But just as she was going to head in, she seemed a little bit off. Hesitating in some way. And then slowly, she revealed her notebook. The pinkette felt his breath hitch in his throat. His hands felt a little clammy.
My name is Lucy Heartfilia... and I want to know your name, you dork. She even returned a nickname of her own?
Hey Luce, my name is Natsu Dragneel.
"Geez, you look like someone to a shit on your head and called it a day." Macao laughed, watching the pinkette drag himself across the road as they were in the middle of scouting.
"I'm not really feeling my best today." Natsu admitted. He was dead tired. After meeting Lucy, and just speaking for a little bit of time, he couldn't sleep properly. He tried to count sheep's and perhaps eat a little more so his stomach could get too tired to function and could get the hell to bed.
"I can tell," Macao laughed a little bit too loud for Natsu's liking, "You look terrible."
Yes. Natsu knew he looked like someone that was probably high off crack but he didn't care. His heavy boots thudded heavily across the road, and pushed a couple of mechanical parts to the side. He was dead tired and he'd be lucky if he even made it through the day.
"Thanks. I'm just a little tired."
Macao stopped. "You're tired? We stopped scouting two hours earlier than usual. How could you be tired?" But then, the older man's twisted in a sick smile. Natsu inwardly rolled his eyes. Of course, Macao's thoughts would wander to that side. That sick pervert. And now he was wiggling his eyebrows, suggesting something that the pinkette doesn't even want to know what it actually means.
"I was talking to someone."
"Oh really?" Macao threw an arm around Natsu's shoulder, "And who is the lucky guy?" Natsu coughed out in discomfort. Eyes raising to glare at the older man who smiled cheekily.
"It's a girl. Macao. A female. The specie that you're not familiar with." That earned a little bump. Natsu massaged the injured part of his head before turning to glare again at Macao. But who was he kidding? Sharing with Macao would at least help him to understand this himself. And he didn't want to feel happy about this all by himself.
"I'll show you." The two slowed to a stop. Natsu settled his bag down and rummaged through the contents before pulling out his notebook.
After his talk with Lucy, he continued looking around. Making sketches on his notebook and jotting down notes of the area. He saw signs and made points of them in his notebooks. And now, he was showing them off to Macao. That the reason why he was tired, was from staying up to draw and write down names of things he's seen through his trusty telescope.
"And the name of this area is called Fiore." Natsu added, scrambling through his notes and showing them all to Macao. The older man, thankfully, took the pinkette's words seriously and marveled.
"Okay but the one thing that I want to know about is the person who you were talking with." Macao said, shuffling through the pages and closing the book carefully. Handing it back to the pinkette.
"Well," Natsu started off lamely, hands reached up to scratch the back of his neck nervously. A light tint of of pink on his cheeks as he recalled their first interaction.
"Her name is Lucy. Lucy Heartfilia."
The wind blew softly, bringing back the small memory of seeing the blonde for the first time. When she was sitting outside her room and smiling upwards to the sky. And maybe, just maybe... he could hope that she smiled towards him. And just like that, a smile crept up on his face. And this was probably the first time, Macao had ever seen Natsu smile genuinely since that time.
And he hoped that this 'Lucy' person could help Natsu to keep smiling just like this for a long time.
NOW HOW ABOUT THAT? Im so happy with how the story is coming along. Slowly coming along good, right? Slowly but surely.
Let's keep this up! Wohooooo!
Lot's of love,
B7K
