Hello Helllllloooooo starlings.

To be honest. I don't even know why I say this. Starlings just became a term I used since I've started wriitng and now it stuck to me. Anyway, without further ado. Let's continue with the story!

I'm happy how well this story is turning out. A little bit sooner, we will reach a very staggering point that would help our trusty characters in the story. Romeo plays a vital role too. So... that's why I used him in this story. As well as Macao. Not much of the FT characters would make an appearance. So... don't count on seeing any familiar names. lol.

Anways - this chapter was inspired by Naruto (second movie: the legend of the lost tower) the song is called: if by Kana Nishino (I've been listening to that song since I was schooling lol)

OH! I ALSO DID READ THAT THERE ARE SOME CONFUSION WITH HOW THE TWO CAN TALK. The mechanics behind is the telescope! They look through the telescope to read the notebook. If this is still confusing, I'll revamp the future chapters so that it'll make more sense. So let me know if it doesn't make sense logically then I'll re-work those parts.

ON WITH THE STORY!

Love, B7K

After being completely drowned by questions, Natsu pushed the older man off him. Who was leaning on him a tad bit too much. And Natsu knew Macao was doing that on purpose. The old baffoon. It was just unfortunate that Natsu only spoke a little too Lucy, as Macao was firing with questions that seemed a little bit unnecessary. And some that raised a few eyebrows.

"So you wanna take a few hours off today?"

Natsu snapped his head quickly. Macao had a face. Not sure what kind of face, but the pinkette could only make out what he could see. It was a knowing smile. Like... knowing fully well how much this had changed Natsu in one night. And knowing fully well that Natsu would continue to talk to the 'Lucy' in the sky. Or on the other earth.

"Am I allowed to?" He asked. Eyes looked down at the dirt. He wanted to but he knew there are limits to asking for too much time. He can't surely be greedy. Macao had allowed it yesterday, so he wouldn't mind if they stayed on the same schedule.

"Meh. It's fine." The older man replied, shrugging his shoulders, "I thought you had a lot of time with Lucy. Let's call it quits. The more time you get to know her, maybe it could be the beginning of something."

Natsu bursted out laughing, "Something? I only know her name."

Macao sighed. Sometimes, he truly wished Natsu would at least... have something like common sense locked away. And it would pop up whenever something staggering happened to the pinkette but unfortunately, Natsu would always be, well... Natsu.

"I meant, you stupid boy," Macao said, "that maybe there's a reason why you guys met. Maybe something is gonna happen. Who knows? The world would end but the only thing that would save us would be your ugly looking notes. God that's horrible."

They both laughed. As such, the both had no idea how right this would be in the near future.

Natsu was nervous.

After bidding his farewells to the older man, who bid his own with a wink, his stomach began their usual flips and jumps. His heart began their usual throbbing and his hands started to get sweaty. And he knew exactly why. His legs had a mind of their own as they pushed the pace.

The pathway that he usually took to head home seemed far. Although it had a lot of shortcuts, it seemed like the turns were much more longer.

The scuffling sounds of his boots thudded audibly as he raced in between houses, jumping between fences and climbing walls. Sweat dripped down the side of his face and rolled down to his shirt. He would have to take a quick shower before setting up the telescope.

Lucy would truly cringe at his attire if he greets her with the way he was.

And that is something he will not allow.

"Have you heard? About the city of walls?"

A voice came from a house he just passed. Of course, under normal circumstance, he would've stopped dead in his tracks and stick his ear to the wall. And most likely try his darnest to listen in to the converstaion. But since he was in a rush to get home, that conversation would have to wait.

And besides, he could ask Romeo or Macao about this 'new' about the city of walls.

In a few minutes, the pinkette reached his home and quickly stripped out of his scouting attire. Unloading his scout bag quickly but carefully onto the bed and removing his shirt. On his way to the bathroom, he grabbed his towel, dashed to the kitchen and gulped down some water before kicking off his boots. Running quickly into the shower and washing off the dirt and grim on his body.

It didn't take too long until he exited out of the shower. A towel hung lowly at his waist and his arms holding his dirty clothes to be washed. Finally, rushing into his own room to retrieve some clothes and get change quickly. Something comfortable but at least, looked good enough.

So he just settled with a long sleeveshirt and cargo pants.

Running a quick hand through his damp locks, he started setting up the telescope. Carefully but much more quicker than the time he had set it up yesterday. Finally setting up the equipment, he rushed back to his bag and pulled out the notebook after a few seconds of rummaging around. He dashed back upstairs to the telescope and grabbed an apple on the way.

He was excited and nervous at the same time.

After trying to calm the butterflies that magically, began to flutter a tad bit too much, he picked up the pencil. Flicking open the notebook and leaned into the telescope to look inside the scope.

And there she was.

Waiting as she promised.

He smiled a little as she sat at a table. Perhaps she had request for one? And he could see her sketching something. But he wasn't too sure as it was over her shoulder. And as if on queue, she checked the time on her wristwatch and flicked the pages to a clear part.

And then she moved to the telescope. And as if she saw him looking at her, she gave a wave.

A chuckle escaped his lips. She was pretty shameless herself. Waving to the clouds. How absurd. Now that he could see her clearly, she sported a simple dress. Made of silk and linen. And for some reason, it screamed out rich and royal. It suited her, somehow.

And he waved back too.

You actually came back.

I did. And you came back as well. He did.

And by the looks of it, they both were excited. He saw her quickly writing something.

I have a lot of time now. We can talk much longer than yesterday.

Well... he supposed that was a good thing. Not really on his part as he needed to sleep but perhaps, he could extend it for her.

That's good. Well... what have you been doing up to now? Don't you work or something?

If there was something that Natsu noticed from his correspondence with Lucy, it was that she was quite secretive when it came to her backstory. It wasn't that she seemed sketchy about the details, but it seemed that there are some things she didn't want to share. And that's okay with him. He didn't mind at all.

Just as long he could always talk with her.

Even if it meant talking about the weather.

And that's how their conversation continued for a month.

Natsu took note of all the small things she shared. She spoke lovingly about her mother especially, who became the blonde's role model in life. Lucy also talked about life on her planet. She also mentioned very briefly that her father was a conservative person, who'd rather lose thousands of dollars than show an ounce of emotion.

She also was a single child between her parents. She loved the colors pink and yellow. Her favorite astrology sign was Aquarius and loved this constellation sign. She loved writing books and reading with a cup of tea.

And she loved looking at the stars.

Just to escape the world, she looked up and let her thoughts melt into the darkness.

Just like him.

Would you be able to talk with me again?

I'd love to. Besides, you still haven't told me much about your earth.

He chuckled to himself. Well... she was right. And it's not like he was hiding it, but rather he didn't feel like she should know about the devastation. Why break her spirits about the other earth that she was so curious to know about? He didn't want to crush her dreams but he also didn't want to lie either.

He could share bit by bit so that they could talk longer, and so that it could slowly slip into her. Just

I could tell you tomorrow if you'd life.

It's best for tell her later though. They had been talking for almost four hours. The muscles in his fingers cramped and hurt every time he grabbed the pencil and flicked pages. He already knew that the morning after, his fingers are gonna hurt like hell.

I'd really like that. Thanks Natsu.

No problem, ya weirdo

Yeah. He was back to using that nickname. It seemed almost natural for him to use it. And it seemed like she didn't mind either, as she just sighed in defeat and roll her eyes. A smile crept up to his face. It's really fun talking with Lucy.

Anyway, I need to sleep before bags start forming under my eyes.

Sure thing. Night Luce.

Oh. That's another nickname he thought up for her. And it suited her anyway.

Bye Natsu. See you tomorrow.

Yeah. He was incredibly happy. Placing the notebook down and jumping downstairs to his bed, the smile on his face never wavered for a second. Slipping into the sheets and snuggling deep into the bed, the pinkette felt like nothing in the whole world couldn't possibly go wrong at this point.

Natsu knew something was wrong the minute he saw Romeo and Macao arguing.

Of course, both males always fought over the smallest things like bread and house chores. And as always, Romeo would just throw up his hands and do it anyway, since Macao was either too drunk to even understand a word or he just sleeps during the arguments.

This one was entirely different.

Because from where Natsu stood, heading towards the front doors of the headquarters, the pinkette could see Romeo burst into a heated fit before leaving. Passing Natsu just barely, with eyes filled with tears and arms raised to wipe them away fiercely. The pink-haired male made an attempt to reach out to the boy but eventually, decided against it as it had nothing to do with him.

But he did want to know what caused this conflict between Macao and Romeo.

Straightening the scout bag on his shoulders, he carefully approached the older man who just noticed Natsu heading his way. And it was clear by the fake smile that was on Macao's face that something was wrong.

"Natsu! Didn't see you there," The older man brightened, reaching around in his pocket for a cigarette. Or for something. But Natsu knew better that this was a tactic to avoid confrontation,

"Yeah, I just arrived actually," He answered, "But let's not beat around the bush. What the hell happened?"

The older man shuffled on his feet nervously. Eyes obviously avoiding contact and the search for cigarettes halted. He reached up instead and casually fixed his attire, straightened his hat and cleared his throat.

"Well... there's been a widespread news going on in the area."

Natsu blinked. There's always news being spread around. There's nothing somewhat 'unusual' with that? Of course, Macao sensed this and finally looked at Natsu, his lips set in a grim line. Almost saddened but somewhat helpless.

"The City of Walls is going to open in a months time. Soldiers have been perched on the perimeter of the walls with firepower."

The words punched Natsu in the gut. His breath hitched and suddenly, the urge to throw up felt overwhelming. His stomach hurt and his hands rolled tightly in a fist. The one place that he had tried avoiding with all fiber of his being. It was the one place that he made sure to never go near. That place held in the reason why this country was falling apart and it was the reason why Natsu was left alone to deal with the demons of his past.

And just when he thought that was the worst, Macao's next few words made the pinkette feel as if the world was crushing him.

"They will be killing off everyone outside the wall."
