The Ugly Microraptor

My name is Miku, now known as Gaffer Miku and my dinosaur species' a Microraptor.

I was born and lived in a secret realm in an unknown time and place away called Dainason Kingdom. I remembered the egg where I was born and grown inside of was alone in a hole of a tree trunk in a nest. Since most dinosaurs both big and small lived in herd or solo either live in grassy or rocky land, my kind of species instead lived in trees.

Despite I'm still a unborn inside of my egg, I could hear the sounds from outside world of my egg. It was cold when alone but warm when being embrace from the warmth of my parent's feathers.

One day, I'm almost in the brink of being born, however my parent that layed me was gone no matter how long I waited for their warmth meant that I'm left all alone now. A moment later, I could hear something climbing up my tree and the sound got closer, I could hear a voice. It was soft like the sound of bird chirping.

"Oh my...! There's an egg in here!"

The sound of the voice was female and suddenly there's a sudden warmth from the feeling of my egg. For some reason, I like this new warmth. Just then, as if I wanted to feel more and more of this warmth, I gather all my strength to break free of my egg.

CREAK~

POP!

With a final push, I break free from my egg and finally I was born into the world. I spread my black wings as I shake my head.

"Gasp! How pretty!"

The sound of the female voice made my eyes open as I get a clear view. After my view is set clear, I was face to face with the owner of the voice. It turn out to be a little female human. She has long red hair the color of an apple and eyes as bright blue of the sky.

I said my greetings in a chirping as I locked eyes with hers.

"Nice to meet you, little one." The little human girl hold out both her hands to me.

I sniffed her hand making sure it's safe to get on. Safe and sensing no danger, I hop on the palm of her hands and stand comfortably on them.

She lifted her hands and she smiled as she introduced herself. "My name is Saura. Do you have a name?"

The human girl now called Saura her name but as for me, since I'm still a newborn, I could only chirp.

"I can't understand you. Maybe it's because you're still a baby. How about I name you?" Saura said then in thinking thought for a name for me.

"Hmm... Your black feathers are just like the color of the night sky and your eyes are pretty like a blue moon. A beautiful moon in the night sky... Oh! How about Miku? It means beautiful sky. Do you like it?"

A beautiful moon in a night sky... I'm male and a Microraptor species that can fly. But more like gliding than flying unlike a regular bird despite my appearance looks small and bird-like. I think it's a nice fit for me! I love the name Saura gave and I started to chirp happily as I try to hop on her shoulder and thank her by licking her cheek.

She giggle and said she think of it as I like/love the name she come up for me.

Since then, this human girl and I made a bond together.

All my life after I'm a month old, other dinosaurs who saw me throw bad and nasty comments about how ugly my black feathers were even behind my back. It was always like this whenever I leave my nest to hunt for food.

One day, while I was hunting for food, I was surrounded by younger dinosaur hatchlings from the raptor species consist of Velociraptors and others that have sharp claws from the toe.

"You're a freaky black bird!"

"You're not welcome here. Just dissappear!"

"Scary!"

"Ugly!"

Once again, I'm being surrounded by the dinosaurs that saw me. How I wish this would end soon. Or better yet to just stay hole up secured in my nest and never leave. I know it's useless but I can't change the way how I was born with. In my heart, I wished that someone, anyone would come to save me from the darkness. As I was thinking...

"Hey, don't talk mean things about my friend!"

A firm angry female voice echo from behind me. When I looked back to see who it was, I saw a human girl with long flowing red hair and strong blue eyes giving out a dignified aura. It's the human girl that I first saw during my birth!

"Ah, it's Saura!"

"Please forgive us!"

With that in an instant, with just those words coming from the human girl, the raptors stepped down and apologized as she lecture them like a scolding mother. After that, they left me alone with the human girl.

She knelt down and carefully place me in her palm and lift me up to her eye level.

"Are you alright, Miku?"

Saura's sweet voice that calms young ones made my little dino heart beat warm and fast. Just hearing it suddenly made me cry in Saura's arms.

"Don't worry, Miku. If you're ever in need, or if anyone else bullies you, I'll always be there for you."

Ahh, being embrace in her arms is so warm. It's like her human arms are wings of a bird.

More years have passed, Saura and I grew up into our adulthood. At some point, I discovered that Saura was actually the lost princess and that she's the daughter of our human queen of Dino Village where my tree and nest where I'm born.

I'm not sure how Saura became the lost princess. Now that I think about it, she did look a couple years older than me when I was hatched from my egg. All I know before that, she lived alone as an orphan without parents just like me. She was raised by dinosaurs all her life without any contact with humans other than our queen (who now reveals to be the biological mother of Saura).

Our queen, Queen Saffira's time has come to an end, but before her passing, she revealed the truth about Saura's origin and the reason how she's separated from her mother. The details are very sad but Saffira knew the truth the instant she sees the locket Saura always wear around her neck and that it's really the momento of her.

Saura and Saffira share one last heartwarming moment as mother and daughter. I used to thought that I was just a friend, but Saura said I'm too a part of the family. I couldn't be anymore happier.

"We'll always be together forever as family! Welcome to the family!"

Those were the words I've always wanted to hear when I know that I'm the only Microraptor of my kind in this world.

However, those happy moments won't last forever. I found out that Saura had been infected by an incurable disease even using known medical herbs won't work.

I'm beginning to experience the worst possible moment of my life, if something isn't done.

The only possible way to get save my best friend and family is to ask help from the heavens.

There's a miracle will happen if I pray with sincerity from the heart. If I did that, our Goddess who created Dainason would grant my wish.

Using this method took a lot of good energy if asking help from the Goddess. But... I really did it.

"Oh Goddess! Please help my partner, Saura get better. I beg you!"

"No need to worry, Miku. I shall grant you your wish. I've been watching you all this time. Your love for your human partner was stronger than any I've ever seen. Here you go, Miku. Use it well."

The Goddess honorly gave me the cure. Then, as a gift of blessing, she transformed my feathers from black to white and said the prayers the queen asked all this time before her death, the name of Gaffer is added to my name. At first I'm not sure how will Saura and others will react to my change but...

"Wow, Miku. You look beautiful! Your white feathers are like the wings of an angel!"

To my surprise, she accepted the new me and even upgraded her point of view about me. As for the other dinosaurs, my white feathers became beautiful that they didn't even dare to make bad comments about it which is opposite from my former black feathers.

I'd always wished that my black feathers could change into other color so others would accept me other than Saura, but now looks like my wish finally came true. Now as leader of Dino Village, I'm going to do my best to care for young dinosaurs and always put my hope and faith so the Goddess will bless us.

I'm so happy that many miracles happen to me and most importantly, my partner Saura.

Well, after the profile of each Secret Dinosaurs, I'll put each of their P.O.V stories like this one. I'll just leave that side story from the 'Secret Dinosaur Princess' there as it is. Just think of it like a mini story.
