Her smiling reflection in her newly acquired hatai ate captured Mōdokus attention. The complaints she has over the time wasted by not advancing her classes even more being overwhelmed by the pride she has, having finally graduated and being recognized as a Genin.
Fiddling with it she returns to her seat ignoring the class as she waits for the next step in the process, getting a Jonin to be a personal teacher for her and two other fellow students.
Remembering that she has to form a team with two of the students in the class brings her attention to her fellow graduates. Once she had dismissed the chance of being raised another class, she had been looking at her class mates contemplating who she would be teamed with.
The teacher's words bring her attention to him, "We will now inform those that graduated on their team dispositions".
Mōdoku now fully focused on their teacher waits for her name to be called out. "… Aiya Hyuga, Mōdoku Osen and Saburo Nara, forming team 7 under Sakae Sarutobi…".
The teammates she was placed with were not well known by Mōdoku, Aiya looking not very closely related to Akiri and Saburo being apart of the Nara clan that she has had no interaction with.
She sighs noting how she had no connection or interaction with either of her partners. Having spent some time observing the class before she knows that neither are quite skilled with Aiya being around the middle of the class and Saburo being towards the bottom.
Mōdoku hears her team get called and sees her teacher waiting for them at the door. She sees her teacher observes her, and her teammates as they got up to follow her. She hears her remark, "Alright seeing as I'm now your teacher I will have you tell me a bit about yourselves and have a light exercise to see your abilities, once we arrive at training ground 18".
Mōdoku notices that her teammates enthusiasm dropped when they were told they will have to talk about themselves.
She looks up at her teacher, Sakae noticing her gaze and nods at her before she turns around and starts heading towards the training ground.
Mōdoku notices that the teacher had started at a slow pace and was picking up slowly, noticing this Mōdoku guesses that Sakaes observations of them had already started.
When the training ground was closer Sakae sped up to a level that Mōdoku struggled to keep up with. Having arrived at the training ground Mōdoku looks around breathing heavily.
At the side she sees her teacher who she waves to before hopping over to her.
"You're quite fast for one so small, aren't you?". Hearing her rhetorical question Mōdoku smiles before spinning around.
She is interrupted by Satae when she continues, "You may be able to keep up with the pace yet your teammates couldn't. Don't you think that is irresponsible as a teammate?". Mōdoku freezes and starts to see of she could sense her teammates, she senses Aiya on her way yet Saburo is out of her range.
"Do you want me to go fetch Saburo teacher?". She sees her teacher pause meeting her eyes.
"No, it's alright, he'll be here soon, and I wasn't worried about how slow they were compared to you".
Mōdoku recognizes that she had made a mistake tilts her head before saying, "Were you commenting on my lack of team comradery Ms Sakae?".
She sees Sakae nod. And comments, "Isn't it too early for such expectations? I haven't spoken to them before".
Hearing her answer Sakae sighs before replying, "It's never too late to start on building comradery. Your team was picked because it was judged youse would likely work well together".
Aiya arriving stops their conversation. Mōdoku starts sensing again and finds Saburo now in range of her abilities.
She hears Aiya and Sakae conversing and decides that she may as well start practicing her suppression training.
She focusses back in when she hears Saburo finally arrive and turns to Sakae.
"Seeing as you're all here we will start on the introductions, with the slowest going first".
Saburo stiffens before he starts, "I am member of the Nara clan, I like resting, I don't have any real dislikes and I hope to make contributions for my clan".
Sakae nods before motioning Aiya, "I am a Hyuga branch member. I like my family; I dislike the war that's ongoing. My dream is to become a strong shinobi".
Noticing it was her turn Mōdoku smiles, "I'm clan less however my mother's side has had shinobi for many generations, I like myself, training and learning. I dislike annoying people. My dream is to be a shinobi remembered for all time, to be remembered as a shinobi on the calibre of Hashirama".
Sakae nods at the end. "We have now gotten a basic understanding of each other, and will now start on the combat performance. You three will attack me to the best of your abilities".
Mōdoku having waited for this moment gets her senbon ready and makes some distance. Sakae notices her actions and smiles before announcing the start of the training.
Mōdoku immediately throws 6 senbon before making a tiger seal and arriving at the side of where the teacher was. She grabs a kunai in a hand and attempts to stab her.
Sakae dodged the senbon and blocked the attack of Mōdoku, before moving to grab her wrist.
Mōdoku seeing her actions pushed off from Sakaes body to make room. She notices Aiya has moved forward to attack using the gentle fist and spots Saburo having made a rat seal and using the Shadow Imitation Technique.
Sakae blocks Aiyas attacks and jumping towards the trees, nullifying the usefulness of Saburos jutsu. Making the fight turn into a chase.
Breathing heavily Mōdoku grins to herself. She had managed to hit Sakae with 3 senbon during the fight. She also had plenty of taijutsu exchanges that she managed to hit Sakae.
She looks beside her and finds her teammates to be less tired than she is. She looks over each of them and then towards Sakae.
"Alright we have enough fun and I have gotten a decent grasp of your abilities; today's session is over. Tomorrow you can have the day to rest however, the day after we will get started on missions".
Mōdoku heads home proud that she was making good progress in her skills.
