Welcome back! This chapter was really fun to write and a nice challenge for me. I just want to warn y'all now the next chapter might come late, I'm moving. I threw out my back, packing up so I don't know how I'm going to move in, wish me luck. :)

This is my first time writing a fight scene, I think it turned out well! Feel free to let me know what you think. I hope y'all like this chapter and thank you for reading!

Even before the fight reaches the flat top of the building, it's easy to see that Endeavor's winning. He and Dabi go after each other with a ferocity that could write tragedies, sending each other careening blindly to opposite edges of the roof.

Endeavor skids to a stop in just the right place to look up and lock eyes on his children peering down at him among the team from UA. Both he and Dabi are panting, shoulders rising and falling rapidly. Dabi's lost his coat somewhere along the way, presumably burned up in the fight. When Endeavor sees his son leaning against Midoriya his eyes flick to Kirishima, then narrow dangerously. His face twists before he shoots a forceful blast at Dabi, powerful enough to make the villain stumble back towards the building's edge.

From where he stands, Midoriya is looking almost directly down at the fight. There's not even a road separating the two buildings, just one thin alley. They're close enough to feel the fire, near blistering, on their faces, and in their fingers.

At that point Aizawa has clearly had enough and snaps, "We need to go. Midoriya, you have him?"

"Yes Sensei"

"We need to get them to Recovery Girl," he looks out across the still smoking city, surveying the surroundings "and send more reinforcements," Aizawa turns to Shoto changing gears "More pros are coming to deal with the attacker but we need to get you, and your sister, away from here. Midoriya will help you, now let's go"

Midoriya takes that as his cue to move, but he only takes one step before Shoto goes rigid against his side, groaning as resisting Midoriya's movement puts tension on his injuries.

Midoriya steps back to Shoto's side quickly to support him again, Shoto in turn grits out, "He didn't attack"

"What?"

"He didn't attack us"

"Todoroki, we've spoken to your brother, and no matter what happened we need to get you and your sister away from this"

"But he's going to hurt him"

"I don't think you should be worried about your father after everything" hisses Momo in a moment of uncharacteristic venom.

"Not him" mutters Shoto, earning confused glances all around, Momo looks taken aback.

Aizawa shakes it off faster than anyone else, or rather catalogs it for later, more focused on protecting his students at the moment, "There are more teachers, they will settle this".

"Please Shoto, let's go" pleads Midoriya, causing his classmates to do a double-take at his use of Todoroki's first name. Midoriya tries to take another step, urging Shoto on, but he continues to resist.

Crackling violently behind them, Endeavor and Dabi are still battling it out, embers flying as fire shoots out and sputters against the side of the building just below where Aizawa and the students stand.

The heat makes the joints in their feet ache, and when they turn to look there's nothing they can do but stand stunned as Endeavor hurls a blast of fire obviously meant to more than incapacitate. A blast nowhere near in line with the character or actions of a pro hero defending his city.

The city in question still smolders along the path they'd burned, and Dabi is hurled against the raised edge of the roof with a terrible thud. In his shock, Midoriya's grip on Shoto loosens.

In that moment, Shoto lurches forward with a pained hiss, slipping out of Midoriya's grasp and bolting towards the edge. Everyone bolts to catch him, but in their various states of shock and with Aizawa stuck supporting Fuyumi, none of them reach him before he hurls himself off the roof and over the alley.

The rooftop erupts into panicked shouts and Midoriya goes to fling himself after Shoto only to be grabbed tightly by Kirishima, acting on Aizawa's orders. Aizawa himself rushes to the edge, ready to jump after his student, having quickly passed Fuyumi to Momo.

Looking at his trajectory Shoto won't make it. He'll fall just short of the other building. He's falling all wrong too, going down feet first. If his fall isn't severely cushioned, in a way the alley cannot provide, he will shatter his legs, at least.

Aizawa sees it too, and his scarf whips around him ready to tangle Shoto in hopes to minimize the damage. But before Aizawa can act, Shoto reaches out, just before he passes the building's edge and plummets into the alley. Dabi snaps his own arm out from where he's leaning over the building's edge, having scrambled up from where he'd been slumped against the short wall.

Shoto braces his grip on the fire villain in an instant, binding their arms together with rigid ice. Straining backward Dabi uses Shoto's momentum to swing him up and onto the roof next to him. The ice connecting them melts away, courtesy of Dabi's fire. Once his grip isn't supported anymore Shoto's arm drops limply to his side. His other hand momentarily flinches up to grab at his shoulder, pain curling his body into itself.

That hand drops quickly too, but only for a little, lifting his mobile hand and pressing his hurt arm tight against his side, he and Dabi go on the offensive. The way they move is all jerky strides, and graceful spins, sweeping moves paired with forceful attacks. Synchronized and perfectly mirrored at every step and every strike.

"They move the same" gapes Midoriya, earning questioning looks from the others, except Fuyumi, who just looks away. Midoriya's mind races, terrified for Shoto but unconsciously slipping into his analyst's brain, watching the two fight together with practiced ease.

"What the hell is happening?" curses Jirou.

No one says a word until Aizawa, still one step from following his student over the edge, half-answers "I think I have an idea" looking back appraisingly at Fuyumi, who is refusing to make eye contact with him.

On the other roof, Shoto and Dabi fire off near-identical streams of fire with a punch from Shoto's left and Dabi's right. The blow is met by Endeavor's own, different colors all clashing and fighting for oxygen, mixing into a morbid desert Aurora Borealis. Wisps of fire floating off in every direction as they push back and forth, trying to overpower each other at any opportunity.

The smoke and heat sting Midoriya and his classmates' eyes even from a building away, making it impossible to not squint and blink rapidly, eyes watering.

Through it all, Endeavor's growing anger is clear, contorting his features and dancing in his eyes until, suddenly, he stops fighting. He dodges the stream of fire that blows past him and immediately launches a vicious burst of bright blue flame right into Dabi's stomach.

Midoriya hears Dabi yell, and someone near him shrieks as the fire sends Dabi flying back to the edge of the building. He buckles when the wall hits the back of his knees, sending him backward over the side.

As Dabi plunges into the alley, Shoto steps back with his right foot, letting frost creep out to catch him teetering over the edge. His Ice the only thing keeping Dabi from falling headfirst towards the concrete and brick of the alley below. Once Dabi's stable, Shoto steps in front of his frozen perch, protecting the older man from Endeavor. Then the fire starts again.

Even without Dabi's blue flame, the inferno is still too hot for any of them, even Aizawa, to approach. Effectively all they can do is watch as Endeavor's fire steadily overpowers his son's, pushing towards him inch by terrifying inch.

Dabi's body is still smoking from the blast, but he's already trying to melt out of the ice. Steam billows around him, but Shoto, trapped between his father and the frozen man he's protecting, doesn't need speed. That, coupled with whatever instinct is fueling him now drives Shoto to just keep freezing him over. The ice stays strong no matter how high Dabi can heat himself, without completely destroying the ice and sending himself to his doom.

Upon realizing escape is unlikely Dabi resorts to shouting, yelling at Shoto over and over again. Despite being loud enough to be heard over the raging fire, Shoto shows no sign of even hearing him. Up, on the next building, Kirishima is still physically restraining Midoriya, and they can't quite make out the words.

Urgently, Aizawa barks at his student, "Jirou tell us what he's saying."

"On it!" Jirou jumps into action pressing her hands to the building as she plugs herself in.

It takes less than a second for her eyes to widen, instead of saying anything she just plugs her other jack into her boot and suddenly Dabi's voice is projected out clearly across the rooftop.

"Let me out! Let me out goddamn it! Sho! Sho, he's going to hurt you!"

"Sho?" questions Kirishima before Aizawa hushes him.

Dabi keeps yelling frantically, but Jirou unplugs herself when Momo lets out a shout from where she's supporting Fuyumi. They all turn back to the fight, but they don't see whatever shocked Momo, their attention quickly jumps back to her, desperate for an explanation.

After blinking at them expectantly for a moment, Momo speaks, "Look at Todoroki's hand, it's blue."

Everyone's face scrunches in disbelief before glancing down at the fight. Their confusion quickly turns to gaping, because looking over, she's right.

It's not quite what he'd call blue, but Midoriya can see that Shoto's right hand, still pressed tightly to his side, is most definitely not the right color.

"Is he trying to use his quirk to keep himself from overheating? He could seriously hurt himself, he'll freeze himself solid!"

Endeavor's flames are so close to Shoto now that the embers flaking off are settling on his clothes and hissing in the melted remains of the ice Dabi has scattered around the rooftop.

Dabi gave up on shouting when he realized Shoto wouldn't listen. Now he's using bright blue explosions to blow chunks of ice across the roof where they melt immediately, not caring if he burns himself in the process.

"Why isn't he stopping?" asks Momo, almost pleading.

"He's actually going to hurt him" gawks Kirishima.

Aizawa's teeth are grinding so hard Midorya thinks he can hear it. He knows his teacher would do anything to be down there now, but the heat would burn him instantly and the smoke and steam are still making it impossible to use his quirk.

Midoriya and Jirou stand stunned and speechless. Midoriya's skin feels numb and stomach twist as Aizawa takes a step back, preparing for a running leap to the next building despite the stunning likelihood of being incinerated.

Shoto's stance twists foreword shoulder dropping and tightening. The flames licking over his face and down his arm start sparking blue, his own kaleidoscope of fire strong enough to derail the onslaught from his father.

This time when Dabi yells they can hear every word. He's begging at the top of his lungs, asking Shoto desperately to stop burning himself. For a moment it looks like Shoto's ready to let the blue flame scorching his skin and melting his clothes devour him, but in an instant, he lets go of all that power and his fire winks out.

Shoto lunges sideways to avoid his father's continued blast, but it ends up more of a fall in his state. From the ground, Shoto lifts his shaky right arm and unclenches his fist, letting a mountain of ice rip out of the roof. As he turns the rooftop, and everyone on it, into a glacier frost curls over what's left of Shoto's shirt and creeps up Endeavor's legs despite the heat he gives off.

Now that the light of the fire is no longer distorting the view, everyone can tell the color they'd seen on Shoto's hand had been frost, chilling his skin until they were almost the same icy color.

Shoto keeps pushing, not letting up even as his father melts the ice away almost as fast as it grows. It creeps up Shoto's arm like a glove of shattered glass, slowly turning him to ice as he fights to cool the smoky night air.

Midoriya, still held back by Kirishima, desperately tries urging Aizawa to intervene "He's giving himself hypothermia!"

He's not sure what Aizawa could do anyway, but he doesn't have any other ideas. If his teacher stops Shoto, he'd leave his student defenseless in front of a man who's already attacked him. If he stops anyone else, or if he stops all of them, he can't move without risking taking his eyes off somebody.

With desperation driving him, and ice numbing his pains Shoto doesn't even pause ice building up on the rooftop like the walls of an arena. The frost shooting from his foot is now focused on his father as he battles to counteract the melting ice around the man hurling fire that can't stay lit in the cold, wet air. Ice is steadily climbing both Shoto's limbs now, slowly encasing him like armor. There's nothing else to call it, the ice is the only thing defending him now. The air temperature drops, suddenly feeling arctic as Endeavor cuts the last of his fruitless attacks, now focusing only on melting the ice threatening to overtake him.

"Holy shit guys! What happened?" Kirishima shivers as the heat that was almost blistering is now stinging cold, making the students' teeth chatter.

Midoriya watches carefully as the ice solidifies across Shoto's body, covering his entire right side in a demented mirror image of his early hero costume. But the ice doesn't stop. In one final terrifying burst, Shoto lets his ice consume him.

Endeavor's last flames sputter loudly before smoking out as he and his son are frozen solid.

When the steam clears, both Shoto and his father are trapped. Shoto frozen mid-faint, knees bent to crash against the roof, across from his father, hunched like a powerful predator. Both caught, like ancient beasts trapped in a glacier.
