Like A Cherry Bomb
Summary: Josslyn finally confronts Dev. She doesn't react as calmly as she'd meant to. Final part of my stalker Dev series. Sequel to Dangerous Obsession, Playing His Game, Implosion, and If Somebody Hurts You.
The house is quiet when Joss walks inside, Cam and Trina flanked on either side of her and her father just behind. She knows that Avery and Donna are off with the nanny. Her mother and Sonny had set that up last night so the two girls wouldn't witness this confrontation. Josslyn was grateful for that. The last thing she wants is for her little sisters to get in the middle of this.
The door shut quietly behind them and Josslyn held Cam and Trina's hands, trying to calm her nerves.
They hear a door shut softly and footsteps running down the stairs. The first thing any of them see is the smile on Dev's face. A smile that quickly fades as he gets to the second to last step and finally takes notice of who is with Josslyn. He stood up noticeably straighter and says in as smooth a voice as he can manage, "Joss. I was worried when you didn't come home with Carly and Sonny last night."
A laugh escapes Josslyn's lips at that before she can stop it. "Oh, I bet you were." She quips sarcastically, eyes filled with fire and her brows set in angry line. She lets go of Cam and Trina's hands, nails digging into the flesh of her palms.
"What's wrong, Joss?" He asks, even now trying to act innocent. It made her even more enraged.
She scoffs and without thinking, she balls up her fist and punches him. She could hear his nose crunching under her hand and his gasp of pain, but she could care less. He honestly deserved so much worse. Her hands scratch at his face and she feels someone rush forward to pull her away. She falls back into the arms of her father who lets her go to head into the kitchen to hurry Sonny and Carly along.
"What the hell is wrong with you, you psycho bitch?" Dev snarls, hand cupping his nose. His dark eyes are enraged.
"Cut the crap, Dev." She snarls. "I know what you've been doing. Cam told me about the fake journal entry. I've been putting things together. You wanted to cause problems between us!" She gestures between she and Cam for emphasis.
The boy in question snorts and rolls his eyes. "You know," He starts, tone cold and mean. "I never thought you could be so stupid. Cameron is playing you." His gaze flickers to Trina briefly, then back to Josslyn. A smirk lifts the corner of his lip. "Both of you."
"Cam didn't play us! He was confused. He was honest with me and he told you what was going on. He'd have told Josslyn everything too if you hadn't manipulated the two of them." Trina speaks out, unable to keep quiet when he's talking so badly about her two best friends in the world. Out of the corner of her eye, she sees the door leading to the living room silently open to reveal Carly and Sonny standing there. The expressions on their faces rather terrifying. She says nothing though as Carly brings a finger to her lips.
Dev laughs then, harsh and cruel. "So what if I did? It's not like any of you would say anything." His gaze turns to Josslyn who stands trembling in front of him. "Telling Sonny could put me in danger. And you wouldn't want my blood on your hands, would you?"
"That's enough." A voice hisses behind him, one he knows very well. He freezes in place, trying to school his features into an innocent expression as he turns slowly on his heel to face Sonny and Carly.
"Sonny." He says with a nervous smile. "How long have you been there?"
Carly crosses her arms under her chest and glares at him coldly. "Long enough." She says. "I don't like the way you tried to manipulate my daughter and her friends just now. You should be glad that I'm not the one who's going to deal with you because I'd have made you regret it." She says it with such a fierceness, absolutely meaning it. She smirks as Cam gulps before hurrying over to wrap an arm around her daughter, wrapping her in a hug as her ex husband comes from where he'd been standing behind she and Sonny to do the same.
Sonny steps forward, dark eyes full of rage on Dev. "I brought you into my home and treated you like family and you betray us." His voice was deadly calm, the tone he knows sends shivers down his enemies' spines when it's turned on them. "Josslyn wasn't here last night because she and Cameron talked and then did some investigating. They found the pictures you took and the journal entries you forged. My stepdaughter didn't feel comfortable in her own home after finding out what you did. Usually, I'd have Jason get rid of you for me or get rid of you myself. But I know Josslyn wouldn't want that. And it would bring up too many questions. That's why I've called a boarding school up and made arrangements. You'll be leaving this evening."
"But what if Raj's men come after me?" Dev protests, real fear in his eyes now.
Sonny gives a grin. "I'm sure this military school would know how to handle it." He retorts. "I'm not going to change my mind. Not after what you did. You should be grateful you're getting even this chance. I suggests you go upstairs and pack your bags. You'll be taken to the airport in an hour."
Josslyn lets out a relieved sigh as Dev stalks past with a final glare. Things weren't over. Not in the least. She, Trina, and Cam still had things to discuss. They all would have to deal with Dev's betrayal and the things he'd been doing, but at least things were better now. At least Dev wasn't going to get away with everything he'd done. That was all she could ask for in this moment. And besides, with her family and friends by her side, she knew she could get through anything.
