Disclaimer: I do not own the Dead Poets Society or any of the story line. Anything that sounds familiar most likely isn't mine. I only own Tairyn Hollows.
Dear Todd,
I hope my second letter arrived on time. In case you didn't get it, or if you did, I'll explain some more of what happened since I'm sure you're dying to know.
Aunty Rayne and I went to the court hearing on Tuesday. It was one of the first times I had seen him face to face in awhile. Thankfully, we didn't have to directly interact with him. But we presented the judge the proof of abuse that you had helped me with. It didn't take much more from our lawyer to convince the court onto our side. Aunty Rayne is now my legal guardian until I turn eighteen. My father got life in prison with no chance of parole for at least twenty years. His lawyer couldn't do much to sway their decision.
We never have to worry about him again.
On a brighter note, Aunty Rayne and I did move into the farmhouse. She's actually giving us the master bedroom because she wants to travel so she won't be there much anyway. Cece loves it. She's been going crazy in the large fenced yard we built for her. I really hope you'll like it here. It's really beautiful. There's even a barn on the property so we can get horses or cows or whatever we really want.
I miss you. I can't wait until I can see you again.
I hope all is well.
Love,
Tairyn
PS: Happy early birthday!
Todd couldn't help but smile as he read her letter. She was safe and doing well. That's what mattered to him. His birthday was in a little over a week. All he had been able to think about is how it would be his first birthday without Tairyn in six years. He stood up to leave the room for dinner, planning on writing a reply to Tairyn's letter once he got back from eating. Neil met up with him in the hallway.
"Ready for dinner?" Neil asked.
"Yeah," Todd responded.
The two made their way to the dining hall. First, they stopped at the phone where Knox was still going crazy over the girl he had met. The other guys were around him teasing him.
"The longer you wait the worst it's going to get!" Neil called, thumping Knox on the back.
Knox swatted him away without a reply. Todd joined in with the other guys taking the piss out on Knox. He hadn't even noticed her standing there, too busy joking around with the other guys. Charlie was the first to notice her. He let out a low whistle, which caused the other guys to stop and look at what he had seen.
Todd felt the breath catch in his throat. She hadn't seen him yet, she was engrossed in a conversation with Mr. McAllister. She was wearing a cyan swing style dress that stopped just below her knees and black flats. It wasn't cold enough for a jacket yet, but she wore a simple black jacket anyway. She was always cold. Her hands were gesturing adamantly as she talked. With anyone else, it would have looked improper. But she made it look elegant.
Neil watched Todd's face change as the other guys ogled the girl talking with their Latin professor. He had a pretty good idea of who the dirty blonde in the pretty blue dress was.
The dirty blonde happened to flick her gaze over to the group of boys. She refrained from rolling her eyes at the staring. Before she looked back to the professor she had been talking to, she managed to catch Todd's eye. She trailed off of her sentence, officially distracted.
"Ms. Hollows?" she barely heard the professor speak.
Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as Todd stepped around the other guys. That's all it took for her to take off at a run. He caught her and stabilized the two of them before returning her fierce hug. He knew the other guys were watching, but he couldn't bring it in himself to care.
"You're here." was all he could mumble out before looking down at her.
"Surprise!" she smiled, a couple of traitorous tears trailing down her cheeks.
Todd wiped away her tears and placed a small kiss on her forehead.
"So, uh, Todd. Are you planning on telling us who your friend is?" Charlie asked, over the shock of what had just happened.
"Try girlfriend." Neil piped up, convinced that he was right in his first assumption.
Tairyn snickered at the expressions of the other guys, "Tairyn Hollows. Nice to meet you."
Todd threw an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close. Neil introduced all of the guys and himself.
"So you're the mysterious roommate!" Tairyn stuck a hand out, "It's nice to finally put a name to a face!"
Neil shook her hand in return. Mr. McAllister walked up to the group.
"I do believe it is dinner time. Ms. Hollows, you are more than welcome to sit with Mr. Anderson at his table."
"Thank you very much for your kindness sir. It is extremely appreciated how welcome you've made me feel." Tairyn did a perfect curtsy in front of Mr. McAllister.
McAllister was impressed with her manners, "No need to thank me. Now, off we go."
Dinner was louder than usual as the other members of the Dead Poets Society were rapidly asking Tairyn and Todd questions. Tairyn answered them to the best of her ability while holding Todd's hand underneath the table. After what felt like years, dinner had finally passed and the boys were dismissed. Neil made an off-handed comment about going to the library. Todd rolled his eyes but smiled in thanks. He led Tairyn back to his and Neil's bedroom. Tairyn spun around and looked at the small room.
"So this is 'Hellton' huh?" she asked, returning her gaze back to Todd.
He had been leaning against the doorframe watching her. After he didn't respond, she stepped forward a few paces.
"Earth to Todd?"
Once she was closer to him, Todd grabbed her waist causing her to squeak. Before she could make a smart comment, his lips were over hers. Tairyn sighed and wrapped her arms around his neck before happily returning the kiss. He pulled away first. Tairyn opened her eyes. She blinked a couple of times as her eyes were hazy.
"Well hi."
Todd smiled at her words, "I've been meaning to do that since I saw you."
"Uh-huh," Tairyn stupidly mumbled, still in a daze.
"I'm glad I can still do that to you."
Tairyn shook her head, "Well when you don't warn a girl!" she whined.
Todd laughed, "As much as I love that you're here, how are you even here? The headmaster wouldn't have easily agreed to you just coming for a visit."
"Your parents worked some magic for me." Tairyn beamed.
Todd laughed again, "I love you."
"I love you too."
The two kissed again, happy to be back together. Tairyn buried her face into Todd's chest, content on staying in his arms for as long as she could. Todd rested his chin on her head, happy that she was back in his arms again. He wasn't sure how long she'd be here, but he was going to spend every possible second with her until she went home.
