Akatsuki's Daughter
Chapter One
Akana's POV~
A loud boom woke me from sleep. Great, I thought, Deidera was awake and already causing chaos. I huffed a growl before getting up out of bed. Deidera was one reason I hated living in the base. I got into the en suite shower, ignoring the shouting from the other men. Another reason I hated living with the Akatsuki was, well I was the only girl besides Konan, which meant dirty smelling odors from dirty dishes, expired take out boxes and laundry along with loud swearing and almost no privacy. I saw almost because the one time Hidan and Deidera walked in on me in the nude I sent a pack of hell-hounds after them. I have to admit, they do learn fast. Everyone knocked before entering.
I got out and got dressed in my usual gear before heading to the common area where the loud shouting and cussing was coming from. As soon as I entered I saw Hidan and Deidera fighting as usual. So long as they didn't break anything Pein-sama left them alone. Kakuzu was beside them though bitching about the shattered coffee table and the money it would take to get a new one. Tobi was excitedly watching the events and was often shouting things to Deidera who snapped back at him to be quiet.
Sasori and Itachi were sitting at the kitchen table ignoring the proceedings. I plopped myself down beside them.
"Why the hell isn't there ever anything edible on the table?" I asked, ignoring the shouting and trying to look through the leftover boxes on the table.
"We live amongst pigs." Sasori muttered.
"Sad but true." I sighed. I kept looking before I found a pack of dango that didn't look too bad. I let out a small noise of joy and tried to dig in. The key word was try as the dango were gone in the blink of an eye. I looked up at Itachi who had a dango stick in the corner of his mouth.
"Itachi! I found them." He blinked but his eyes held amusement.
"Too slow chibi." I growled curses under my breath at Itachi's nickname for me. I mean sure he had saved me when I was younger but the nicknames were ridiculous.
"Haven't you learned by now Akana?" Sasori grumbled. "Eat fast."
"Easy for you to say, you're wood. You just need water and sunlight." He glared at me. I simply stuck my tongue out at him.
"Hey Kana," I looked over at Kisame who looked like he was dressed to go outside the base. I perked up. "Wanna go get some decent food?"
"Hell yeah!" I cheered getting up and hopping over to him. "Anything's better than left overs. I'm pretty sure I saw wood lice on the table." My hand smacked my head. I glared at Sasori who had gotten up with Itachi and were following us out of the base. Itachi simply rubbed my head.
"Come on Chibi." I followed him and Kisame out while Sasori walked beside me.
"Why are you coming?" I asked Sasori. "Need sunlight?"
"I came to watch Itachi steal your food."
"Assholes." I was back to glaring at Itachi's head.
"Language." Itachi stated. We got to the end of the tunnel and above us was the exit to the base and the entrance to the outside world. I guess it's time I explained how I ended up in Akatsuki huh? I'd been living with the Akatsuki for about 4 years now. I had a family once upon a time, but they'd ended up dead due to fear and hatred from other family members. Since I was with the Akatsuki as a scout and spy, I didn't have a partner. Occasionally if the need called for it I was paired with one of the others but most often I was working by myself to scout out other villages or towns for prospective allies.
"What missions are you guys doing next?" I asked once we had settled into a small cafe in the closest town.
"More traveling and scouting." Kisame answered.
"Deidera and I will be going North for a two weeks. We leave tomorrow at noon." Sasori states. I frowned.
"But you guys just got back." He rolled his eyes.
"You yourself just got in last night after being gone for 3 weeks."
"Yes and I haven't been given my next mission."
"Leader-sama will probably call you in later. Missions have been picking up." Kisame states.
"We will leave in three days time." Itachi said.
"We're waiting on a few weapons to come in squirt." Kisame expressed when I cocked my head in confusion. I scrunched up my face.
"Why do you call me that? I'm not a child."
"You're sixteen."Itachi reminded.
"Dei's sixteen and you don't call him squirt or Chibi. Besides, aren't you eighteen Tachi or do I still call you aniki?" He gave me a dry look while Kisame snickered. Sasori drank his tea with a small smile tugging at his lips.
"Dei's been with us a year less than you have remember." Itachi stated. "Besides, I didn't find him half dead." I stuck my tongue out at him. The waitress brought our food at this time preventing us from talking.
About fifteen minutes later my bracelet pulsed. I glanced down at it before looking at Sasori. He nodded. I did the hand sign and allowed my mind to be transported while my body slumped against him.
When I formed I was in Pein-sama's office.
'You called Pein-sama?' I asked as way of entrance.
"You have a new mission, you are to leave when you get back from breakfast."
'Where?'
"The Chunin Exams are beginning, they will be held in Konoha this year. We need you to attend and report any information on the attending villages. Also if you hear anything about Konoha's Jinchuriki we need to know." A bolt of realization hit me but I refused to acknowledge this before I answered. "You will be acting as an Ambassador for Ame with a mission scroll stating you are to learn about Konoha's ninja culture to see if there is anything you can learn that would benefit Ame along with any resources you deem necessary."
'Of course Pein-Sama.' I nodded.
"You are dismissed." I released the jutsu and came back to myself. I stayed leaning against Sasori while my mind processed my mission.
Konoha, I'd been there before about two years ago and had made friends while acting as a Diplomat's daughter. They had good memories of me and I of them. The problem was, with the Chuunin Exams, there could also be trouble for me as Suna ninja were bound to attend due to their alliance. I didn't know if I was ready for a reunion but regardless, I had my mission.
"Akana?" Sasori asked. I sat up before reporting to the others.
"I'm to head to Konoha for the Chuunin Exams. Scouting only."
"When are you leaving?" Itachi asked.
"After breakfast I am to pack and leave immediately, In which case, breakfast is on me."
"You don't have money." Kisame retorted. I grinned holding up cash.
"Oh don't I?"
"I see someone's been teaching you gambling again." Sasori rolled his eyes at my innocent look.
Back at the base I packed my pack and weapons essentials. Pein-sama had added a further mission detail that Orochimaru's village Oto was going to be participating, which meant I would probably run into him. I didn't have fond memories of that snake. He'd only been with Akatsuki a short while and had taken quite an interest in my and my kekkei genkai. Thankfully he'd been more consumed with Itachi's kekkei genkai but I had a feeling he would have also wanted me and my eyes.
My eyes were special as they allowed me to see a person's deepest fear and make them come to life, not to mention a 'deathly aura' that literally felt like death was coming causing panic and paranoia, I was also able to summon Hell-hounds all thanks to my father Takemaru. From my mothers side I had gained an affinity to sense an aura which helped me tell truths from lies. Which to a snake like Orochimaru, I guess was a good thing.
I had slid my katana onto my back when a knock sounded on my door.
"Come in." Sasori came in, looking at the sketches and drawings plastered on my walls. "What do you want Sasori?"
"Leader-sama said to give you this." He handed me an Ame headband. I nodded.
"It would help my story of being a diplomat."
"This is from me." He held out a jar that looked tightly sealed. I glanced at it questioningly before meeting his eyes. "My most lethal poison. I trust you to not use it improperly but I also added an antidote on the bottom." He turned the jar upside down to reveal the bottom screwed open. Inside were 3 small vials that held a green liquid.
"Ooh, no doubt this will come in handy." I took the jar back and put it in a sealed pocket. "Thank you Sasori." I smiled at him.
"Be careful." He ordered. "And don't forget to call us if you run into any kind of trouble."
"It's nice to have you worried but I can handle myself." I murmured, reaching out to touch his arm. "I'll be back in two weeks, so hopefully I can beat you home."
"Check in often."
"This isn't my first mission Danna." Nevertheless I reached for a hug which he gave. Just as I pulled away he turned his head so his lips grazed my cheek. I blinked before I moved in for a proper kiss. When I realized what I was doing I jerked back with a blush on my cheeks. "I- I'll be back Danna." With that I took my leave.
Another thing you probably didn't know, was that I held a massive amount of affection for Akasuna no Sasori. Spare me the talks of him being older and this being a stupid crush, I'd already gone through those when I turned fourteen and realized I did in fact have a crush on the puppet master. That kiss was not supposed to happen and I happily shoved the part of my mind that over analyzed this exchange to the back.
"Hey bitch!" Hidan's shout snapped me back into reality. I quickly killed my smile and gave Hidan a bored look.
"Yes bitch boy?"
"You better fucking kick some Konoha ass."
"I'm not in the exams Hidan. But don't worry, I won't hesitate to sic a hell hound on anyone who messes with me." He glared as I continued on my way. Riling Hidan and Deidera up was a good favorite pastime for me. I met Itachi and Kisame at the exit.
"Be good kid." Kisame gave a sharky grin.
"I'll try Kisa." We fist bumped. I turned to Itachi, my aniki and secret father figure.
"Don't attract too much attention. Keep an eye on the enemy. Don't let your guard down too much."
"Yes Tachi." He nodded before I jumped on him. I normally didn't touch people but Itachi was an exception, well him and Sasori. I whispered in his ear. "I'll keep an eye on Sasuke." His slight tightening of his arm was all the answer I would get. When we separated I jumped up the exit and into the forest daylight.
Konoha was about a 3 day journey from my current position so I needed to get there as fast as I could. With a simple jump I was leaving my family behind.
GM NASAI: So it's been a while since I've written anything. Years? Yes my life was that busy. But I hope to take care of this with this little project. This is an old story I found while cleaning the other week and after I read it, I fell in love with my old writings and this inspired me. If you haven't read an old drabble I suggest you do, it may inspire you also.
