Author's note: My first chapter was fairly well-received, and it was fun to write, so I decided to write more. I have a few ideas for more chapters. I appreciate suggestions for more chapters. Enjoy!

Lin reclined in the office chair, exhaling deeply before beginning to read the lengthy packet of papers she had brought home. Most were debriefs from the day's raid on a triad moonshine facility. She had missed it, forced to go to one of the justice minister's mandatory weekly 'calibration' meetings, where he bitched at his subordinates until they either conceded or left.

She took a sip of brandy from the glass in her other hand, trying not to get too frustrated in her attempts to decipher the officers' handwriting. These bints need a spirits-damned penmanship class. Just as she was beginning to focus on the abomination that Fong called handwriting — rabid ostrich-horses could write neater than the useless fuck — her girlfriend entered. Instantly, Lin's fury softened.

Lin watched as Kya removed the grey-blue overcoat she had been wearing to guard from the fall cold of Republic City. She wore a dark-blue tunic with a lighter blue skirt, all of it with a soft grey fur trim.

"Hey, Linny." Kya could tell she was watching.

"Hey, K. How was work?"

"A couple of minor flesh wounds and some guy who wanted to see what would happen if he slit his stomach. Turns out it isn't good for you," said Kya as she strolled over to Lin, giving her a peck on the cheek, then standing behind the chair with her hands on Lin's shoulders. She looked at the papers. "What's this? Exciting stuff at the office?"

"No, just some reports the idiots composed. Though we can arrange for some exciting stuff in this apartment…" She looked up at Kya with a suggestive smirk. Kya feigned innocence and strolled around the chair, plopping down on Lin's lap and lounging against the armrest. The arm with which Lin had been holding the papers now encircled Kya's shoulders.

Kya plucked the glass from Lin's other hand, staring into the chief's amused eyes as she took a sip of the liquor. "Exciting stuff in this office, you say? Please, chief, do tell. I don't have a clue what you mean. What sort of exciting stuff?"

"Well," said Lin, pulling her girlfriend in closer against her chest. "I have a few ideas. I just need someone who's adventurous."

"An adventurous lady in this office? Who could that be?" Kya asked, the joke in her eyes betraying the act. She leaned over slightly to place the glass on the nearest table, then resumed her reclining position against Lin's arm.

"Oh, K, you know her. She's got the most gorgeous blue eyes you've ever seen." Lin cast the papers to the floor, moving her hand to grip Kya's side.

"What does she wear?" Kya softly slid her hand over Lin's shoulder and collarbone, feeling the familiar muscles and grooves.

"A really cute blue tunic." Lin stretched her free hand to begin lazily undoing the top button of said tunic. "Though she looks best with it off."

Kya blushed slightly. "When will you tell me who it is?" She brought her hand up to Lin's face, gently rubbing the unscarred cheek with her thumb.

Lin abruptly grabbed the hand and pulled Kya in close, their foreheads less than an inch apart, eyes boring into one another. "Right about now." Their eyelids slowly lowering, their faces beginning to come together, Lin could envision pressing a heavy kiss to Kya's lips and tearing the tunic — and the undershirt beneath it — to shreds, just to be closer to her waterbender.

There was a knock on the door.

Kya broke off the near-kiss, to Lin's infinite dismay, and stared at the door. "That must be your wonder-boy, Linny." She untangled herself from the embrace, stood, and stretched slightly.

Lin growled. "Damn it all to hell."

Kya buttoned up the tunic and walked to the door. Grabbing the door handle, she winked at the chief. "We'll continue this some other time." She faced the door again, looking like nothing had happened, and swung it open. "Mako! Come in!"
