Rory paced back and forth in the living room, wringing her hands and biting her lip. Elle was home for the weekend, upstairs getting ready right now, and Rory was currently waiting for Logan to get there as well. Elle knew he was coming, though she had no idea what the reason was, most likely under the pretense he was coming to see her. She had told Elle they were going out to dinner but that depended on how this conversation went. Despite the fact that Rory was nervous about finally telling her sister, she was also thrilled at the prospect of seeing Logan. She had talked to him on the phone every night that week she was dying to actually see him, to touch him and to kiss him. Luckily her mom and dad were busy that night at a gala in New York where they were staying over-night. She also had yet to tell them about her new relationship and that would be quite a long conversation. After all Logan is older than her and he's in college so her dad won't be thrilled.
Telling Elle about them would be… interesting, to say the least. She wasn't entirely sure how this was going to go down, would there be yelling? Or maybe she would try to change Logan's mind. And what she did try to change his mind? What if she convinced him that being with Rory wasn't worth waiting and not having sex? This is ridiculous, that's not going to happen. She sighed and as soon as she sat down on the couch the doorbell rang.
Rory jumped up and hurried to the door. She opened it to find her boyfriend waiting impatiently on the other side, looking incredible in his dark purple button up and black blazer. He grinned as she practically threw herself at him and he wrapped his arms around her waist tightly. She giggled when he lifted her slightly and twirled her before setting her back down. He buried his head in her hair and took in her comforting scent. To say he had missed her would be an understatement. He missed having her in his dorm, in his bed, in his clothes. He missed kissing her, holding her, and… well kissing her. He missed watching her bite her lip and he missed her touch.
He pulled his head back slightly to claim her lips in his. He slipped his tongue in her mouth, not waiting for anything to taste her. He stole kiss after kiss, not wanting to let her go until it was absolutely necessary. Rory kissed him back with fervor, realizing she had missed him even more than she thought now that she was in his arms again. She was safe with Logan, nothing could get to her or hurt her. Nothing bad could ever happen as long as he was there holding her. She loved that feeling, the feeling of home and safety that she only seemed to get with Logan.
They pulled their lips apart only when the need for oxygen forced them too, although who preferred breathing to kisses like that? "I missed you," she said breathily.
"I missed you too Ace, this distance thing is harder than I thought," he said, resting his forehead on hers.
"Tell me about it," she laughed, running her hand through his hair and kissing him again.
"You ready for this?" he asked.
"No," she pouted, resting her head on his shoulder and allowing him to hold her tighter. "Are you sure we have to tell her?"
"I know you're nervous, so am I, I don't think she'll take it well, but yes we do have to tell her," he said.
"I don't want to tell anyone," she said. "My parents won't be happy, my sister won't be happy, my grandmothers will start planning our wedding and the names of our children, my grandfathers won't be happy."
"You're worrying too much baby," he said, rubbing her back. "We'll tell everyone together, I promise and it'll be fine."
"And your parents, what will they say?" she asked.
"I don't know, but if it makes you feel any better I already told Honor and I think she's happier about this than we are," he said.
"Really?" she asked, looking up at him.
"Really," he said, kissing her forehead. "She already loves you for managing to 'tie me down' and she wants to meet you."
"Oh, I want to meet her too," she said, excitedly.
"I'm glad, and I'll set it up as long you can promise limited embarrassing stories," he said.
"Aw come on," she whined.
"You can ask for 3 stories, that's it," he said.
"Logan," she pouted.
"Ace," he said, mimicking her as he turned her around, keeping his hands on her hips and ushered her into the house and closing the door behind him.
"That's not fair, I have to know all your dirty secrets," she laughed as he pushed her into the living room.
"What dirty secrets?" he asked incredulously, sitting down on the couch.
"You know, like what schools you got kicked out of and why," she started, placing one knee on either side of him on the couch and straddling his lap. "How many times have you been arrested, because I know you have been. What's the most embarrassing thing you've ever done. Who was you first celebrity crush. That kind of stuff." She rested her arms around his neck and his went to her thighs.
"All of them except Zugerburg, a boarding school, which is where the guys and I graduated. Six times; Five of them due to public intoxication and one account of mistaken theft. Probably getting caught by my mother and our maid at the time while I was running around in the snow butt ass naked with Colin, on a dare. And Alyssa Milano when I was ten," he spouted off, slipping his hands in the back pockets of her jeans.
"Six times?!"
"Keep in mind, it was usually because Finn made a scene and we were just arrested with him," he said.
"That makes sense," she admitted. "And what do you mean by all of them? How many?"
"Seven," he said.
"Seven?! Seven schools?! In four years?"
"Seven schools," he said. "Colin, Finn, and I tend to get bored easily."
"Clearly," she laughed. "I don't have to worry about you getting kicked out of Yale, do I?" she teased.
"Nah, we have enough freedom there to keep things interesting. Plus, anywhere else we went would be too far away from my girl," he said, pulling her closer and kissing her.
"Mm, well your girl appreciates it," she said, smiling against his lips. "Especially considering your already too far away from as it is."
"We're back to that?" he laughed.
"Well I really missed you," she said.
"I know Ace, I missed you too. I don't like it either," he assured her.
"Promise?" she asked.
"Yes, I promise, I've been miserable," he said, kissing her again. "What do you say I come see you Wednesday? I don't have any classes until Thursday at 3:00 so I can pick you up from school and spend the night."
"Really?" she asked, biting her lip. "You'd do that?"
"Absolutely," he said. "I told you Ace I miss you."
"I know," she said. "Well I like that plan, I just have to make sure I tell my parents before Wednesday."
"Yeah, you said they'd take it well last week but I feel like you're having second thoughts."
"I am," she said.
"Care to explain?"
"It's just… well you're in college. Even if you're only a year older they won't love the fact that I'm dating a college guy or a society guy," she said. "Actually my dad will hate that you're in college and mom will hate that you're part of society."
"I get that," he said.
"You do?" she asked.
"Definitely," he laughed. "College guys can be pretty bad, and society guys, I've met my fair share of them."
"Yeah, but you don't act like that," she said.
"No, I don't, but they don't know that. We should have dinner with them Wednesday, that way they can meet me and I can hopefully assuage some of their concerns," he said.
"So, you've really never done this whole boyfriend thing before?" she asked.
"No, why?"
"You're pretty good at it," she said, kissing him and running her hands over his shoulders.
"Hm, am I?" he mumbled.
"Oh yeah," she said, starting to kiss his neck. "You're sweet and thoughtful. You know how and when to comfort me when I freak out. And you're a really good kisser." She punctuated each statement with a kiss on his neck, ending with one on his lips.
"Well you're a pretty great girlfriend," he said, claiming her lips.
"Am I?" she purred as he kissed a spot under her ear
"Yeah," he started. "You're caring and considerate. You know how to talk me down after a fight with the dark lord. And you're a really good kisser." His deep husky voice, which always turned her on, did so especially right now as his lips made their way over every inch of exposed skin on her neck and chest.
"Rory!" Elle's voice from upstairs sobered them up and Rory practically jumped off him, landing on the couch. "Do you think Logan will like the pink or the blue better?"
"Uh, he likes me in blue," she answered, still flustered.
"What?" Elle yelled back.
"I mean he likes blue. Wear the blue," Rory corrected. Meanwhile Logan wasn't helping much, leaning against Rory and silently laughing into her shoulder. She slapped his bicep and rolled her eyes.
"Ok," Elle said. "Dress or a skirt and top? I want to show off my legs."
"A dress I guess," Rory said, now biting back laughter.
"Which one?" Elle groaned. "I have too many."
"I don't know," Rory said. "Maybe that flowy blue one I like."
"Oh, that's good, he'll love that one," Elle said.
"I'm sure he will," Rory said before looking at Logan and whispering, "Do you like the flowy blue one?"
"I love it," he whispered in mock seriousness. "I would really love it if you were the one wearing it." He pulled her dress down slightly and kissed the top of her breast. She giggled out loud and kissed the top of his head.
"What's so funny?" Elle asked.
"Nothing," Rory called, biting her lip when Logan's hand slipped up her dress and made its way up to her bra.
"Can I borrow your blue heels?"
"Which ones?" she asked, her eyes fluttering closed as Logan massaged her nipple.
"The navy-blue pumps," Elle said.
"I'm wearing them right now," she said.
"Aw, Rory please," Elle asked.
"No Elle," Rory said, her patience for her sister becoming increasingly thinner as she would rather focus on Logan.
"I like this bra," Logan said, distracting her. "Is it silk?"
"Mhm," she said.
"Matching set?" he asked, his hand still working on her breast and his mouth going up to her neck.
"It would be," she said. "If I had any panties on."
"Ace," he groaned. She laughed and placed her hand on his face, tilting his head up to kiss him. He flicked her nipple making her gasp into his mouth and bite down on his lip.
"What about the black ones?" Elle asked. Rory whimpered as Logan pulled his lips off hers. He kissed her again quickly before letting her answer.
"That's fine, take what you want," Rory bit out.
"Can I borrow the red lace boy shorts?" Elle said.
"The what?!" Logan whispered.
"Shh," she laughed.
"You're holding out on me," Logan said, tickling her stomach. She giggled, kissing him playfully and repeatedly.
"Rory!" Elle said.
"No Elle! Why do you need those?" Rory said, reluctantly taking her attention off Logan.
"What if something… happens," Elle said.
"Oh my god! Get ready and come down here, I have to talk to you!"
"Fine," Elle sighed. "Give me a minute."
"Why are you so cute?" Rory whined.
"What?" Logan laughed.
"You," she said. "You're cute and hot and she likes you. If you were butt ugly we wouldn't have this problem."
"If I were butt ugly I doubt you would be dating me anyway," he pointed out. "I don't think that would solve the problem."
"Ok fine but you could at least be a happy middle, I mean you're like really hot," she said.
"Good to know," he said, kissing her cheek.
"She's going to be mad, isn't she?" Rory sighed, resting her head on his shoulder.
"I guess we'll find out," he said as they both heard Elle coming down the stairs. Once she turned the corner they were both sitting up on the edge of the couch, an appropriate distance apart instead of practically on top of each other.
"Uh hi Logan," Elle said, shooting a questioning glance at Rory.
"Hey," he said.
"I didn't know you were here," Elle said.
"Yeah, I got here a while ago," he said.
"Right," she said awkwardly. "So… Rory you wanted to talk to me about something?"
"Yeah, actually we both did," Rory said.
"Ok…" Elle said, taking a seat in one of the armchairs across from the sofa.
"Well, last week at my birthday party Logan and I kind of…" Rory trialed off nervously, not sure how to tell her.
"Kind of what?"
"We're dating," Logan said abruptly.
"Yeah, what he said," Rory said.
"I'm not going to say, 'it just happened' or anything like that. This shouldn't be a surprise, I've liked Rory for a while and you knew that," Logan said.
"And I like Logan, which I thought you knew, but maybe not. I just… really like him," she said taking his hand in hers.
"Wow," Elle said, fiddling with her hands.
"Yeah, wow is right," Rory said, glancing at Logan. He squeezed her hand and scooted closer to her.
"So…" Elle started.
"So…" Logan said.
"I just… how did this happen?" Elle asked.
"Well, like I said, at my birthday party I… actually I was really mad at Logan over something you told me about. We'll get to that later by the way. And we were in the middle of fighting when he just kissed me," she said, smiling.
"Which continued for another 10 or 20 minutes," he laughed. "And after quite a bit of talking I uh, asked Rory to be my girlfriend."
"I said yes, obviously," she said, rubbing his hand with her thumb. "We went back to his dorm and um," she stopped, not sure what to say.
"Stuff happened," he said, trying to hide his grin. "And that's all we'll say about that, but basically we're together. I'm her boyfriend, she's my girlfriend."
"Who else knows?" Elle asked.
"As of now, just Steph and Colin," Rory said.
"You haven't told mom and dad?"
"Not yet."
"They won't take it well, they might make you end it," Elle said.
"They can try," Rory said, shrugging her shoulders.
"And this is really a relationship?" she asked skeptically.
"Very much so," Logan said.
"Not a no strings thing?"
"Not even close."
"Speaking of which," Rory started. "I have some questions for you."
"About what?"
"Well someone told Rory I thought kissing her was a mistake," Logan said. "I never said that, you know I never said that, so why did Ace think I said it?"
"Well I…" Elle trailed off unsure of how she would get out of this one.
"Elle, you lied to me. Why would you do that?" Rory asked.
"I know, I'm sorry Rory but," Elle started.
"But what?"
"But…," she tried again. "Um, do you think we could talk alone?"
"Yeah, sure," Rory said.
"I'll go up to your room," Logan offered. "You two can talk down here."
"Thanks," Rory said. She kissed him lightly and let his hand slip out of hers as he stood up. She watched him head up the stairs, not able to refrain from checking him out. Once she heard the click of her door she turned back to Elle. "So…"
"I'm sorry Ror," she started.
"Yeah, I know, but why Elle? Why did you lie to me and why did you try to keep Logan from dating me if you though he liked me?"
"Because I liked him," Elle said lamely. "And because I'm not used to not getting the guy, you know?"
"No, I don't know because I never get the guy. And this time I really, really liked him and he liked me back, but you couldn't back off just this once?"
"Rory," Elle tried.
"No. I don't want to be 'Elle's little sister' anymore. And Logan doesn't look at me like that," she said. "He treats me like Rory, just Rory. Like-,"
"His Ace," Elle said bitterly.
"Yeah pretty much," Rory said, shrugging. She was his Ace and she kind of liked that. Actually, if she was completely honest, she loved that. Logan was the only one who called her that, she was his Ace.
"But why did Logan have to be the guy that you really, really liked?" Elle asked.
"I don't know," Rory said. "He just was. Everything about him just made me fall even more."
"Fall? Like in love?"
"Well I'm not in love with him now, but I think I will be."
"Wow," Elle said. "You know he's a playboy, right?"
"Uh well I know he was, why?"
"And you trust him? To be faithful?"
"Yeah, why wouldn't I?" Rory said. "He hasn't even been on a date with another girl."
"But you are a virgin," Elle pointed out.
"I am but Logan says he's ok waiting until I'm ready, he's not going to push me," she said.
"He might not push you but do you really think he's going to wait?" Elle asked.
"What are you implying?" she asked.
"He's a playboy," Elle said, shrugging.
"He was," Rory repeated. "Look Elle I don't know what the hell you're trying to do or make me think but you need to back off. Why are you trying to talk me out of this?"
"Because I like him Rory," Elle said.
"Yes, I understand that," Rory said, rolling her eyes.
"And I want him," Elle said.
"Well you can't always get everything you want and I don't know if you've noticed but Logan doesn't exactly want you," Rory said. "He doesn't want you or Juliet or any other girl who just wants to sleep with him."
"I don't just want to sleep with him," Elle denied.
"Ok fine, why do you like him?"
"Well he's hot and he's nice," Elle said.
"That's it?"
"Pretty much," Elle shrugged.
"So, it's not because you like the way his smile reaches his eyes, or the fact that he's really good at calming you down, or because he has a low caffeine tolerance and teases you about how much coffee you drink? It's not anything like that?" Rory asked, crossing her arms.
"I don't really know him that well yet," Elle defended.
"Well I do, and I love those things about him. Can't you just be happy for me and let me have this one thing? Do you have to win every time?"
"How do you know he doesn't want me?" Elle asked, changing the subject.
"Elle," Rory said simply, exasperated.
"Seriously, how do you know?"
"Well, first of all he's my boyfriend and second of all he's turned you down every time you've thrown yourself at him," she said. "What about that says he might want you?"
"I don't throw myself at him," Elle rolled her eyes.
"You do, and so does Juliet. He doesn't like that," Rory said.
"How do you know he doesn't like that?"
"Because I didn't throw myself at him and I'm his girlfriend," Rory said.
"Rory, I just don't want you to get hurt," Elle sighed, changing routes again.
"Then let me be happy, stop trying to hurt me," Rory snapped before getting off the couch storming up the stairs. She stopped when she reached the top and closed her eyes for a moment.
I can't believe her. College must have seriously changed her because that is not the Elle I know. My sister wouldn't do that or maybe I didn't know her as well as I thought I did. I guess on some level she was always pretty competitive but not like this, not to the point of pointing out Logan's flaws or challenge how much I like him.
And she's wrong Logan wouldn't cheat on me especially not with her, that's crossing a line and he would never do that. Plus, I don't think he has much interest in her, not after his little speech last week. Elle is pretty, I'll give her that but she's not right for Logan. I'm probably biased, being his girlfriend and all but still.
Rory sighed and proceeded into her bedroom. Upon opening the door, she found Logan sitting up against the headboard on her laptop. He had his reading glasses on as he read the text on the screen and had already removed his shirt and blazer, donning sweatpants instead of slacks.
"Well don't you look sexy," she said, toeing off her heels and climbing onto her side of the bed. She took the laptop from him and set it on the night table before laying down with her head in his lap. "Based on the pajamas I take it you heard the yelling."
"I did," he said as he stroked her hair. "I figured you wouldn't want to go out. The only question now is, do we order Chinese or tai?"
"Mm tai sounds good," she said, closing her eyes as she relaxed under his touch.
"You want to talk about it?" he asked softly, taking off his glasses and setting them on the laptop.
"How much did you hear?"
"Bits and pieces," he said. "I'm not going to cheat on you Ace."
"I know babe," she said, resting her hand on his thigh and giving him a light reassuring squeeze.
"Good because I need you to know that. I would never do that," he reiterated.
"I know Logan I promise," she said. "I know you wouldn't do that to me."
"Especially not with Elle, trust me," he said.
"I know," she stressed. "I'm not worried about that."
"What else did you talk about?"
"Oh well, she tried to talk me out of it and tried to make me doubt you. She tried to play the victim, like I hurt her. Then she tried to make me think she was looking out for me and that's when I left," she said.
"The victim? You're kidding," he said incredulously.
"Oh no, she went on about how she liked you first and asking how do I know you're not into her," Rory said.
"I think it would be obvious considering the number of times I've turned her down but maybe not," Logan said. "Do you want me to talk to her?"
"No, I mean not unless you want to, but it's not that big of a deal. She can't do anything so it's a moot point," she said. "Ok I don't really want to talk about her right now."
"Alright, what do you want to do?"
"I want to eat tai, watch movies, and cuddle with my boyfriend," she sighed.
"That can definitely be arranged," he laughed.
"Can you grab the phone, I'll order," she said, pointing to the home phone on her night stand. Logan picked it up and noticed the line was being used. He didn't want to eavesdrop or anything but he was interested to find out what Elle was saying to whoever she had called right after her fight with Rory.
"You know what, I'll order and then I'll grab my wallet and my bag from the car," Logan said.
"Ok, the number is saved as 9 in that phone. I just want basil chicken, 3 stars, and a pint of brown rice," she said.
He nodded and carefully moved her head to her pillow. "I'll be right back," he said, getting up and taking the phone with him. He went downstairs quietly and raised the phone to his ear.
"Can't believe that," a voice said. Is that Juliet? Elle hates her.
"Oh, believe it, and she even had the audacity to ask me why I like him. Um duh, he's smoking hot. And then she gave me some bull shit about how much she liked him. 'His is smile reaches his eyes, he's so good at calming me down'" Elle mocked. "Who cares, I just want to care if he's good in bed!"
"Which I doubt she'll ever know," Juliet added.
"That's the only good thing about this, he'll be done with her soon. Logan's a guy, he needs sex, she doesn't understand that," Elle said.
"And he needs someone who does," Juliet agreed.
"She says she's falling in love with him," Elle said.
"Well she's in for a rude awakening if she thinks he'll ever return that feeling," Juliet snickered.
"Right! On some level I feel bad for her, she's my sister. But just wait till she drops that bomb, there'll be a Logan sized whole in the door," Elle said.
"Which will leave him on the rebound and very willing," Juliet hinted.
"If they make it until Christmas we can always do something about it during our ski trip," Elle said.
"That's true! Get him away from Rory for the week and I bet he'll crack."
"We got this," Elle said.
"We have to go shopping! We need sexy outfits!"
"And maybe even sexy lingerie."
"So, I guess we're getting along now?"
"At least until we get him away from Rory, then we can go back to competing," Juliet said.
"That works. We should go out for dinner. I was supposed to go out with the lovebirds but after what I found out, that fell through," Elle said.
"I'll meet you at that French place in 25 minutes."
"See you," Elle said.
By the time Logan heard the dial tone he was practically seething. What the hell is wrong with them?! I don't deserve this and Rory sure as hell doesn't deserve this! At least I have a good reason for convincing her to come on that ski trip.
Logan went ahead and ordered their food, grabbed his things from the car, and headed back to Rory, luckily before Elle came downstairs. He probably would have screamed at her.
"The food we'll be here soon honey," he said, closing the door behind him.
"Good," she said from her spot in the bed, just where he had left her. "Hey where's that shirt you had on earlier?"
"Um, right here," he said, taking it off the back of her desk chair and tossing it to her.
"Thanks," she said. He watched as she let her dress drop to the floor and unclasped her bra. She slid his shirt on and went to button it up before he stopped her.
"Why don't you leave that open," he suggested with a smirk, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind.
"Oh yeah?" she asked, craning her neck to give his kisses a better angle.
"Definitely," he said huskily, turning her to face him. He backed her to the bed until they both fell onto it rather ungracefully. She laughed as he kissed her playfully, and held her close in the middle of the bed.
