A/N: Aghhh! I'm so sorry! I completely forgot about this. I know all of you were counting on me updating but I had a really bad day on Monday and I couldn't get it finished on Tuesday so Wednesday it is. Thanks again for reading, I promise I'll do better with posting. Please review this, it makes my day to get an email from
Maylisee:
I'm so confused. Was it a joke? A lie? A clever ruse designed to gain my trust and then kill me when my guard's down.
But I won't let my guard down, I know how to keep my shields up and pretend nothing's wrong when it's dreadful. I learned it when Mayadeen and I started getting headaches, it made mine worse but at least she didn't have to deal with them as much.
It's pretty easy to pretend you don't feel emotions, especially with someone like Mayadeen around.
"William Darkore, with a score of 8" William looks pleased, he's 18 and a miner, it makes sense that he's strong and knows how to use a weapon.
"Haymitch Abernathy with a score of 9." He sits there stony-faced, staring at the screen. He should at least pretend to be pleased.
"What you did was probably worth a 2." Was it real.
"I should have gotten at least a 12." What do you think.
"Are you sure?" So, real.
"I'm pretty sure, Maylisee." Yeah.
"Shush, all of you." Penelope says. I haven't seen Penelope much, I guess she prefers Ashley and William, the perfect District 12 kids, cute and strong. So very different to Haymitch with his surly attitude and me with my... well I don't know why she doesn't like me. I guess I don't have a good enough sob story.
"Maylisee Donner with a score of 7." Cherry looks over at me, her brow furrowed. I guess I confused her, I've confused myself, how did I get a 7. All I did was fire darts into the dummies from a distance and ace the poisonous plants quiz.
"Ashley Darkore with a score of 5." Ashley grins and takes a big gulp of hot chocolate, when your District's average score is a 2, a 5 is actually pretty great.
"And that is Caesar Flickerman, signing off! Remember to contact the mentors of the tribute you're betting on."
Cherry switches the T.V and turns to look at us. "Alright. Tomorrow we have a big day so get to bed." We step into the elevator and stare awkwardly at each other. Sure, I'm William and Ashley's allies but the only one I've had a really personal interaction with was Haymitch and that was calming him down after an attempted suicide. An attempted suicide that, if I'm honest with myself, I wish he'd gone through with. I bet he knows that too. I bet he knows I wish he was dead.
