Chapter 13

AN: Ok so this is long, not a ton of smut but some cute scenes. Logan is meeting the parents, yikes! Enjoy!

"Where do you think they are?" Lorelai asked her husband as they walked through the front door.

"On opposite ends of the couch if that kid knows what's good for him," Chris said, taking odd his coat before helping Lorelai out of hers. They hung them up and he headed into the kitchen while Lorelai poked her head into the living room to look for them. Lorelai joined him in the kitchen and took a seat at the table.

"Well they aren't in the living room so that hope is busted," she said.

"They better not be in her bedroom," Chris said, holding onto the counter a little lighter than he should.

"Chris she's 18," Lorelai reminded him. "I would bet anything that they are in her bedroom."

"Wait," he said. "You don't think they're… you know…"

"Well I hope not. I just meant they were making out or something. I mean with Elle, yeah I would expect that, but not Rory."

"Why not? She's a girl and he's a guy?" he asked, worriedly.

"Well she's already had two boyfriends before and nothing happened so I doubt this is any different," she said.

"What if it is Lor?"

"Then she would tell me," she shrugged.

"I still don't like this," he said, shaking his head. "We don't anything about this kid. Did she say he goes to Chilton?"

"She didn't tell me, all I know is that his name is Logan and she really likes him," she said.

"Logan. What kind of name is Logan?"

"Seriously?" she asked, her eyebrow raised.

"What?! I only know one thing about him," he defended. "He sounds rich."

"We're rich," she said, rolling her eyes.

"Yeah but he sounds society rich," Chris said.

"You're worrying about nothing. If Rory likes him then I'm sure he's a good guy."

"There's no such thing as a 'good guy'. All guy's only want one thing," Chris said.

"Maybe he's not rich, maybe she met him in Stars Hollow," she said.

"That's even worse. The last two were from Stars Hollow and they were awful," he said.

"They weren't awful," Lorelai said. "You don't like anyone she dates. I mean Jess wasn't great but Dean was fine."

"Why does she have to date at all?" he asked.

"She's a pretty 18-year-old girl, that's what they do."

"Where are they anyway? They shouldn't be taking this long."

"I'm sure they'll be down soon," she said.

"Should I go tell them we're here? Maybe they don't even know," he said.

"Chris don't go up there," she said.

"Lor I have to," he argued. "What if they're doing something?"

"Why don't I go," she sighed. "Rory doesn't want her dad scaring this guy off too soon," she said, standing up.

"Lor-," he started.

"No, either I go or no one goes," she said.

"Fine," he relented.

"Do not go up there after me," she warned as she walked out, leaving him to twiddle his thumbs and wait.

"Logan," Rory giggled as she felt him kiss her neck and move up to her ear. "I said put on my necklace, not unclasp my bra."

"Same difference," he said, nipping at the hickey on her neck which he was apparently never going to let fade. This was the second week she had been unable to put her hair up at all, out of the need to cover up this mark.

"You know stalling me isn't going to work," she said.

"Well it seems to be working right now," he said as she was leaning back against him with one leg wrapped around his. His hands ghosted over her bare stomach and up to cup her right breast. They had started getting dressed, but so far the only progress made was Logan's boxers and pants, and Rory's panties. She did manage to get her bra on but Logan undid that as soon as he secured her necklace.

"Logan," she sighed, trying to muster the self-control to tell him to stop but it just wasn't happening.

"Ace," he moaned against her skin.

"Honey," she laughed, grabbing his hand which was dipping under the red lace tanga she put back on. She turned around in his arms and wrapped hers around his neck. Her breasts were against his chest, one of his many weaknesses when it comes to her. "We have to get dressed." She kissed him. "And go downstairs." She kissed him again. "And make small talk over dinner." He kissed her. "And then we can continue this later." He kissed her again. "Quietly." They kissed each other.

"They're going to hate me Ace," he sighed.

"Baby they won't hate you," she said, running her fingers through his hair.

"I've never done this. I've never met the parents, I don't know how to do this," he said.

"Where is this coming from?" she asked. "For the last week I've been the one freaking out and you were Mr. calm, cool, and collected."

"That's only because you were freaking out, now that you're calm I'm allowed to freak out," he said.

"Ok weirdo," she laughed.

"Ace," he whined.

"Come on, you're a big boy. Now go put on your big boy pants and let's go," she teased him.

"You are enjoying this way too much," he said, shaking his head.

"Oh come on, how can I not? Logan Huntzberger is afraid of his girlfriend's parents," she said.

"Can't we just hide from them?" he asked.

"No," she said, cupping his face and kissing him hard.

"Ugh," he groaned as she slipped out of his arms and reached for her bra. She slipped it back on and clasped the back together.

"Now let's get dressed before my dad comes up here to get us." No sooner had she said this did they both hear a knock on her bedroom door. Logan stood frozen to the spot, his eyes wide as he looked at Rory, both of them only in their underwear. "That was a joke," she whispered frantically.

"Rory?" She let out a relieved sigh as she heard her mother's voice.

"Yeah mom?" she answered.

"You two coming down soon?" Lorelai asked.

"Yeah, just a second. Logan was helping me with homework, we're just cleaning up real quick," she said, shrugging at Logan, hoping her mom would buy it.

"Alright kid, just hurry up. Dinner should be here soon," Lorelai said.

"Okay, we'll be down in a second. Is dad here too?"

"Yep, he's in the kitchen," she said. They heard her footsteps retreat from the door and then down the stairs.

"Ok, let's get that cute ass of yours into some clothes," he said, grabbing the dress she had laid out and tossing it to her.

"Oh, now look who's ready for dinner," she laughed. He shot her a look, quickly pulling on his pants and sweater then zipping up her dress when she turned her back to him. "And you can refrain from taking my clothes off too? I'm impressed."

"Well nothing puts the fear of god in a guy like finding out your girlfriend's dad, the girlfriend you have been defiling for the last hour by the way, is downstairs waiting for both of you," he said, grabbing her shoes off the bed and handing them to her.

"You're so cute," she said, kissing him.

"Put those on," he said forcefully. She bit her lip at the tone of his voice and pressed her thighs together as heat shot to her core. He sat on the bed to put on his socks followed by his brown loafers. Rory stood waiting for him, heels in hand. "Rory."

"Yes?" she asked, innocently.

"I told you put the damn shoes on, we need to go down stairs," he growled.

"Did you?" she asked.

"I did," he said, standing up and moving directly in front of her.

"And what are you going to do if I don't put them on?" she asked, kissing his neck.

"Make you put them on," he told her.

"Go ahead," she said, handing them to him. He smirked and took the heels from her. Logan got down on his knees, maintaining eye contact with Rory until he no longer could. She placed a hand on his shoulder to stay balanced as he lifted her right foot. Sliding the shoe on, he placed a kiss on her ankle before putting on the left shoe and kissing that ankle as well. He preceded to trail kisses all the way up her calf, thigh, and hip which he took hold of. Continuing his kisses all the way across her waist, he even placed one just above the line of her panties.

"You got the shoes on," she said, gasping when he cupped her ass and pulled her body closer to him.

"And I'm still not done yet," he mumbled, trialing his lips up her flat stomach, arms, breasts, and neck. By the time he got to her lips he had practically kissed every inch of her skin, clothed or otherwise. She was slightly surprised he hadn't stuck his head up her dress. He kissed her cheeks, nose, forehead, and lips before pulling back completely.

"Aw Logan," she whined. He grabbed her hands in his own and back her to the door.

"Trust me we're not done. Don't think I didn't notice you pressing your thighs together, you were turned on," he said.

"No comment," she said as they walked out the door and headed down the stairs hand in hand. They reached the bottom and Rory gave his hand a little squeeze before they walked into the kitchen.

"Hey," Rory said, stopping in the doorway. Lorelai and Chris both looked up when the couple walked in then exchanged a glance with each other.

"Hey kid," Lorelai said.

"Ror," Chris said. "How was your day?"

"Good," she said. "Um, so Mom, Dad this is Logan. Logan these are my parents, Lorelai and Chris Hayden."

"Mr. and Mrs. Hayden, it's nice to meet you," Logan said, taking a step forward to shake Chris' hand.

"You can call us Lorelai and Chris," Lorelai told him.

"Mr. Hayden is fine," Chris corrected.

"Dad," Rory warned.

"Alright, call me Chris," he relented.

"You sure?" Logan asked with a slight smirk.

"Yeah, I'm sure," Chris laughed, before turning to Lorelai. "Maybe you were right, he's not that bad."

"Told you," Lorelai said, as she put the last two plates on the table.

"So, you have a last name Logan?" Chris asked, getting two wine glasses and two tumblers out of the cabinet.

Logan shot a look to Rory before answering her dad. "Huntzberger," he said.

They both watched as Chris slowly set the glasses down and turned around to look at them, still holding hands. "As in Mitchum Huntzberger?" Chris asked.

"The one and only," Logan sighed.

"I've met him, a few times," Chris said.

"Good," Logan said. He let go of Rory's hand and wrapped his arm around her waist to pull her close.

"Good?" Chris asked. "I'm not all that fond of your father."

"Even better. This way I can assure you that I'm absolutely nothing like him," Logan said.

"You're nothing like your own father?" Chris asked skeptically.

"I make a point of it," Logan assured him.

"And why is that?" Chris asked.

"Well… I hate him," he said bluntly.

"Maybe you and I will get along better than I thought," Chris said.

"Yeah, you both hate your fathers and you both hate Mitchum Huntzberger," Lorelai said, kissing Chris on the cheek.

"Well as much as I love those topics," Rory said, familiar with both conversations. "Why don't we talk about something else."

"I agree," Lorelai said. "Why don't you tell us how you guys met?"

"Um," Rory laughed. "I almost fell on my ass and Logan caught me."

"Wow," Lorelai said, laughing with her. "I'm going to need the full story on that one."

"Well, I was trying to get a travel coffee mug off this really high shelf so I got on a chair. I tried to get the cup and I fell. Instead of hitting the ground like I should have, Superman over here caught me. That was like… two months ago?" she said, looking to Logan for confirmation.

"Yeah two months," he said, nodding.

"Where were you trying to reach a travel mug? Chilton has those on shelves?" Lorelai asked, amused.

"Um, not quite," Rory said, shifting in Logan's arms to wrap hers around his waist as well.

"Actually, we met at Yale," Logan said. Once again Chris stopped his task to turn around and look at the couple.

"On a tour, right?" he asked.

"Nope," Rory said. "I was visiting Elle."

"And Logan was on a tour?"

"No," Rory said, shaking her head.

"He was visiting someone?" Chris asked.

"Also, no," she said.

"Well what other reason would a high school senior have for being at Yale?" Chris asked knowingly.

"I can't think of any. What about you babe?" Rory asked Logan.

"I'm drawing a blank," he shrugged.

"Yeah me too," she sighed.

"He's in college?" Chris asked, his eyebrow raised.

"Surprise," Rory said, hugging Logan close and resting her head on his chest but keeping an eye on her dad.

"College?" he asked again, his eyes narrowing.

"Yep, I believe we covered that," Rory said as Logan rubbed her arm.

"Rory-," he started.

"No. I do not want a lecture. I know what you're going to say and I don't want to hear it," she said.

"We just want you to be careful kid," Lorelai said.

"I am being careful," she said.

"Look," Logan started. "I know having your daughter date a college guy seems like cause for concern but I'm only 19, I'm just a year older than Rory and I'm the same age as Elle. Yes, I like to party but Elle is really always with us and I would never ever let anything happen to Rory. She's always my number one priority. And, I may be biased but I don't think I'm such a bad guy."

"He is not a bad guy at all," Rory said, looking up at him. "He's really great."

"I though Elle mention you before," Lorelai said. "I'm kind of surprised she's not introducing you as her boyfriend from what she told me."

"Yeah that's a whole other story," Logan said. Before they could tell the story however, the doorbell rang. Chris left with his credit card to open the door and pay the delivery guy. He brought the food back and Lorelai unpacked the bag. Everyone loaded their plates and took a seat at the table, Chris poured wine for himself and his wife while Rory got water for her and Logan.

"So…" Lorelai started. "About that story?"

"It's a long story," Rory said.

"Basically, I met Elle this year and she liked me. Then I met Rory and she liked me. It caused some animosity between the three of us initially and I think we're working through that. But I like Rory, I want to be with Rory," Logan said.

"Why?" Lorelai asked innocently. Logan looked over at Rory when she sighed softly. She was biting her lip and had her hands folded in her lap. Lorelai really didn't mean that the way Rory took it, at least not intentionally. But to Rory, and to Logan, it sounded as if Lorelai was confused. She didn't know why Logan had wanted Rory and not Elle.

Logan reached his hand to Rory's under the table and entwined their fingers. She looked up at him and gave him a tight smile then shrugged almost like an "I told you so". And she had. She said her parents always liked and trusted Elle more, subconsciously or not. He didn't quite believe that at the time, I mean how could the parents of this amazing, brilliant, gorgeous woman, be anything other than bursting with pride.

He looked back at Lorelai to answer her truthfully. "She's incredible. She's smart and witty and beautiful. How could I not?" Rory gave his hand a little squeeze, she seemed to be doing that quite a bit tonight.

"Is Elle ok with it now?" Lorelai asked.

"Yeah mom, she'll get over it," Rory said.

"Well I remember that one boy you two both liked, maybe two years ago. I think it was the first guy you had liked since Jess, you were crushed when he asked her out. I just don't want her to go through that," Lorelai said.

"Yeah me either," Rory said, poking at her food.

"I honestly don't care about any of that, I'm still concerned with the fact that he's in college," Chris said.

"Dad, there's nothing to worry about," Rory sighed.

"There's plenty to worry about," he said.

"Like what?" she asked.

"Like him taking advantage of you," Chris said.

"That is not going to happen," she said, almost laughing. "Never, ever going to happen. Logan won't even let me open the car door for myself, he always opens it for me before I get in. A man like that is not going to take advantage of me. Logan would never do that."

"And I don't want you drinking," he added.

"Well hypocrisy must run in our family," Rory said.

"Excuse me?" Chris asked, folding his arms over his chest.

"First Elle and now you, both warning me about underage drinking, or drinking in general," she snapped. "She's been drinking since she was 16 and you were even younger. I'm not drinking, by the way, and if anything, Logan makes sure I don't, he sure as hell doesn't try to pressure me into it."

"It doesn't matter what I did, and you're not-," he started.

"Your sister," she said, before he could finish. "I know, you don't have to say it again. I just don't appreciate being treated differently than she was. She was dating guys two or three years older than her in high school."

"You are not Elle," he repeated.

"No, I'm not, but I won't sit here and accept this double standard. You wouldn't have given her the third degree for bringing home a guy who's only a year older," Rory said.

"Chris, I think you're over reacting. He seems like a nice guy, better than anyone Elle did bring home," Lorelai interjected.

"If my age is the only problem here then I don't think it's really much of an issue. I know exactly what you're thinking about me now that you know I'm a college freshman. You think I do nothing but drink, party, and sleep around. Correct?" Logan asked. He continued when Chris nodded. "And you think I won't be faithful to Rory or that I'll rope her into my lifestyle."

"A society kid in college? Pretty much," Chris said.

"Well, I'm not much like that picture in your head. I might have been, two months ago, but not anymore," Logan said.

"And what's changed?" Chris asked.

"Rory," he said simply. "I would do anything for her and that includes doing well in school so she'll be proud of me, not drinking so I can make sure she gets home safe, definitely not cheating on her, I could never do that. And I sure as hell wouldn't push her into drinking, partying, or anything she isn't comfortable with. I'm her boyfriend, as far as I'm concerned that means I have to protect her, and I want to protect her. You honestly don't have anything to worry about here."

"You know I would love to believe that but it's hard to trust you blindly," Chris said.

"Then I'll keep dating your daughter. That way you can get to know me and you can actually trust me."

"You're a little like Chris at that age," Lorelai laughed.

"No he's not," Rory snapped, trying to refrain from glaring. Logan knew that hit a nerve. She hated her father when he was 19, she would have been a toddler then. That's when he was always working or drinking or sleeping around. She barely knew Chris until she was 9 and her parents started working on their marriage.

"Ror," Chris started, softer than he had been all night. He was used to this. Rory hated talking about their lives before she turned 9. She hated not having a father half in her life, close yet so far away, for so many years. Any time someone mentioned that time period she shut down.

"He is nothing like that. Period," Rory said.

"I didn't mean-," Lorelai tried to correct the situation but Rory wasn't having it.

"I know what you meant but you're wrong, ok?" Rory said. "Logan isn't a cheating alcoholic," she muttered. Logan's pretty sure he's the only one who heard that, thank god. He just couldn't wait for this dinner to be over so he could comfort and reassure his Ace.

"Hey," Logan said softly, slipping his arm over her shoulder to kiss her temple and whisper to her. "Are you really ok?"

"For now," she whispered back, resting her head on his shoulder. She didn't care what her parents thought anymore, not right now. So, she would lay on Logan's shoulder all she wanted and let him kiss her anywhere he wanted if he thought it would comfort her. She really just wanted to crawl into Logan's lap, hold him, and really let him kiss her wherever he wanted. Waiting was fine though. I mean it was only a couple of hours, right?

Only the longest couple hours of her life. And his. Once they finished the awkward dinner from hell, they all retired to living room for a movie. Since Rory had sat in the over-sized lounge chair when they came in, Logan sat next to her. This left her parents on the couch and ever since the movie had started Logan couldn't pay attention to it. He felt like Chris was constantly watching him.

For the last hour Rory had been tucked safely under Logan's arm, her own arms wrapped around his waist, and her head on his shoulder while he ran his fingers through her hair. It's not like he was making out with her or anything and he hadn't touched her in any nefarious way since dinner started. But Chris still seemed to have a problem with how they were acting.

I mean Logan couldn't really blame him, he was her dad after all. And from what he knew about Rory and her previous boyfriends she was closer to him than she had been with anyone. So, maybe behavior like this was in fact new for her parents. They had never seen her like this with someone.

Rory snuggled further into him and her eyes fluttered close. He kissed her hair and asked her softly, "You ready for bed Ace?"

"Mhm," she said, close to falling asleep in his arms, her favorite place to fall asleep anyway.

"Can you walk upstairs?" he asked with a slight smirk, knowing she easily could but not with him here to carry her. She didn't answer him. She said nothing except for a soft giggle as she swung her legs into his lap and rested her arms around his neck. Taking the hint, the rather adorable hint, he stood up and held her in a bridal carry.

"Is she asleep?" Lorelai asked.

"Almost," Logan said.

"And she can't just walk?" Chris asked with a slight glare.

"Not according to her," Logan said.

"You won't hurt yourself carrying her upstairs like that?" Lorelai asked, concerned.

Rory laughed and as tired as she was, managed to get one last witty remark in for the night, "You should have seen him when I twisted my ankle. Didn't put me down for almost 2 days."

"I'm just going to take her up to bed," Logan said.

"And then come right back," Chris said, standing up. "We'll get you a blanket for the couch."

"I'll be right back," Logan said. He carried her up the stair case and into her bedroom. Carefully laying her on the bed, he then went to his own suitcase for a T-shirt. Last weekend when he left he had accidentally packed and left with the T-shirt she had commandeered from him, leaving her without one for three nights. This time he had made sure to pack one to leave with her.

Logan removed the heels he had so lovingly put on her just hours ago before unzipping her dress as well. And knowing how much she hates sleeping in it, he also took off her bra. He gently slid his shirt over her head and onto her body then tucked her into the bed before going back to his overnight bag to get pajamas for himself. He changed quickly and went back to Rory's side. Leaning down to her, he placed a lingering kiss on her forehead and whispered in her ear, "Good night Ace."

"I'm sorry," she said, grabbing his hand and stopping him from standing up.

"Where was this awake Rory when I was trying to change your clothes?" he teased.

"I'm sorry," she repeated.

"For what honey?" he asked, resting his forehead on hers.

"My parents," she said simply. "My dad more specifically."

"You have nothing to apologize for," he said. "I know why your dad is concerned and I know that you can't control what he says or how he handles things."

"But he didn't even give you a chance, he just jumped to conclusions. First about your name and then your age," she said.

"Again, that's not your fault in the slightest," he assured her.

"You're my boyfriend, I shouldn't let them treat you like that," she said.

"You did everything you needed to do by letting me hold your hand. That's all I needed. And I'm not the only one to be concerned about," he said, kissing her nose.

"I'm fine," she sighed.

"You weren't though," he said. "Why did you get so upset when your mom said I was like your dad?" He knew why but he wanted her to say it.

"Because you're not," she said.

"Why?" he asked again.

"Because you wouldn't cheat on me or get drunk off your ass every single night or ignore me in favor of something or someone better," she said, her eyes starting to water. "Because I don't want you to be."

"Ok," he said, wiping away the stray tear on her cheek. He didn't want to make her cry, that wasn't his intention at all. "You're right I wouldn't do any of that."

"I know," she said, placing her hand on his cheek. "I swore I would never date someone like my father. Have you ever heard that thig about how most girls end up with someone similar to their dad? Because that's their male role model. I can't ever do that."

"It won't happen Ace, I can promise you that much," he said.

"I know," she said again. "Because you're so sweet and caring and thoughtful. You could never be anything like him." He kissed her softly, yet passionately. Not wanting to leave her side for anything, especially now, but if he did stay they would have much bigger problems. She moaned in protest and pulled him loser when he tried to get up again.

"I have to go sleep on the couch," he said.

"No, you don't," she said.

"Your dad was pretty adamant," he said.

"No," she said, pulling him further on top her. "Stay here."

"When you wake up he will have killed me," Logan pointed out.

"No, he won't," she said, waving her hand in dismissal.

"I don't want to poke the bear Ace," he said.

"So, don't poke it, just sleep with me," she pouted, wrapping her arms around his neck and looking up at him with those damn eyes. She could ask him for his inheritance and one look into those eyes would have him handing it over.

"Fine, but if they come in here you can explain it," he said, flipping them over so she was lying on his chest.

"I think this is much better than the couch," she said.

"Me too," he laughed, sliding his hand up her shirt, or rather his, to lightly scratch her back. In the short week and half that they had been dating he learned that soothing her this way helps her fall asleep in a matter of minutes.

"Goodnight," she whispered, clinging to him for comfort.

"Goodnight sweetheart," he said, kissing her head and holding her close as they both drifted off.

"I still think we should have waited for him to come back downstairs," Chris griped as he and his wife got ready for bed.

"You did everything but threaten to castrate him, I'm sure he'll go sleep on the couch. Plus, I doubt Rory is at the place where she would be comfortable sleeping with him anyway," Lorelai assured him.

"You're right," he said.

"Am I?"

"I should have threatened to castrate him," he said.

"Oh lord, Chris," she laughed. "Would it make you feel better if I go check? Again."

"A little," he sighed.

"Ok, then I'll go look but then it's straight to bed for both of us," she said, kissing him before leaving the room. She crept into the hallway and down to Rory's room to peek in the door. Surprised when she heard voices instead of her daughters soft breathing, she stopped to listen. She shouldn't be eavesdropping. She really shouldn't. She should just go in and tell Logan to go downstairs. But she didn't.

"Why?" Logan asked.

"Because you wouldn't cheat on me or get drunk off your ass every single night or ignore me in favor of something or someone better," Rory said. She could hear the tears in her voice even form here. "Because I don't want you to be."

"Ok," Logan said. "You're right I wouldn't do any of that."

"I know," Rory said. "I swore I would never date someone like my father. Have you ever heard that thig about how most girls end up with someone similar to their dad? Because that's their male role model. I can't ever do that."

"It won't happen Ace, I can promise you that much," Logan said.

"I know," Rory said again. "Because you're so sweet and caring and thoughtful. You could never be anything like him."

Lorelai leaned against the wall. Rory really did resent Chris for his behavior all those years. And it seemed she held even more hostility than she was willing to let her see. So why tell Logan? Could he really be that different?

I mean Rory did act quite smitten with him. And Logan seemed charming enough, it's obvious why she likes him. She also trusts him quite a bit. That alone makes him rather special.

"Goodnight," Rory whispered.

"Goodnight sweetheart," Logan said.

He certainly cares about her, that's for sure. With her mind made up she went back to her and Chris' bedroom to find him waiting anxiously for her.

"Well?" he asked.

"Don't worry, he's downstairs," she said, climbing into bed.

"Good," Chris said, finally laying down himself.

"And Rory is comfortably sleeping," she added.

"Also good," he said.

"Look Chris," she started. "About what happened at dinner. Rory's reaction-,"

"Don't," he said, rolling over in bed to face away from her.

"Chris-."

"No," he snapped. She sighed and laid down, facing away from him as well. Not much different from the last 19 years, she thought. At least Rory is doing something right.
