Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters, settings, music, or movies mentioned.
A/N: IM A HORRIBLE PERSON! This took me way longer than is acceptable and I don't blame you guys if you hate me. I highly recommend going back and reading the last chapter for a little refresher before you read this. But I am happy to announce that I've gotten into 3 out of 9 colleges I applied to so far and I'm just waiting on the other 6. So that's off to a good start and I guess my hiatus was kind of worth it. If you're still here and still putting up with my crap pls enjoy!
It feels like just yesterday she was getting ready with the girls for Logan to pick her up for the Christmas Ball and now she was standing at the vanity with her hair wrapped around a curling wand once again. Only this time they were going to the same location, for a different reason. Honor and Josh were getting married today.
Rory in particular was excited for the winter wonderland wedding they'd be attending today at 4 pm. She knew Logan was less than thrilled about all the mingling they would have to do but it was a small price to pay for being there for his big sister on her big day. He had actually been asked to be a groomsman initially but turned it down since he couldn't have been there for bachelor party or a lot of the tux fittings. What he didn't tell Honor was that it was because he was with Rory every weekend and refused to give up that time to take Josh to a strip club.
He was due to pick her up in about 30 minutes which meant she and the girls were just doing the finishing touches. Unfortunately, by 'the girls' she meant Steph and Juliet. Since Juliet's parents were good friends with Logan's she got an invitation. Lorelai and Chris would be in attendance too, but that invitation hadn't been extended to their children which is why Elle was currently sulking in her bedroom. And of course Rory wouldn't be there as her parent's daughter, but as Logan's girlfriend.
Unfortunately Juliet wasn't even the biggest of her worries tonight. Jill would be there too and right now she and Logan weren't entirely sure what kind of havoc she would wreak at the reception.
"How are you doing girly?" Steph asked, popping her head into the bathroom.
"Almost done," Rory told her, finishing another strand and scrunching it up in her hand to help it keep the curl.
"Good cause your hubby will be here soon." She stood in front of the mirror to apply her lipstick.
"He's not my hubby," Rory said, throwing a bobby pin at her friend.
"Damn, no need to get hostile," Steph laughed before turning her attention back to her lips. "And you mean he's not your hubby yet."
"Oh please."
"Fine stay in denial," Steph practically snorted.
"Look who's talking Mrs. McCrae."
"Okay, truce."
"Mhm," Rory hummed, curling the last strand of her hair. She switched off the curling iron and grabbed Steph's lipstick from her before she could put on more. "Come on, help me with my dress, I need you to tie it in the back."
"Ugh," she groaned, following Rory to her own bedroom where the dresses were hanging. Normally Rory would use Elle's room but that wasn't exactly an option tonight. Juliet was already dressed and putting on her shoes when they came into the room.
Before Rory took off her robe, a light pink silk one Logan had given her has part of his Christmas present, there was a knock at the front door.
"I got it," Steph said, turning right around and practically sprinting to the door.
"Steph!" Rory called after her. "Attention span of a walnut, I swear." Juliet quickly followed out of the room, probably not wanting to stay in the same room as Rory. Rory thought she could hear voices out in the common area as she finally took her robe off. Her dress didn't a allow for a bra, but she did have pasties on to prevent her nipples from showing through the material as well as a pink tanga that matched the flowers on her dress. (Remember all her outfits are on the Pinterest board for the story on my account roryandloganhuntz)
She grabbed the dress from where it hung with Steph's clothes in the closet, but before she could put it on, she felt two hands on her waist, making her shriek and whip around. Logan started laughing as he reached out for her again and pulled her against his chest. "You suck, you suck, you suck. Logan Huntzberger you suck!" she berated him, smacking his chest.
"I'm sorry," he chuckled. "I really thought you heard me come in Ace."
"You don't sneak up on your naked girlfriend you jackass!" She wrapped her arms around his neck and rested them there.
"Ok, I'll admit that one should have been thought out a little bit, but I wasn't going to wait for you to get dressed, I love my naked girlfriend." He grinned at her and leaned down to kiss her. She kissed him back but released his lips soon after. Once Logan got going there was no stopping him and they didn't quite have the time for that.
"Well now that you're here you can help me with my dress." She knelt down and grabbed it from the floor where she dropped it when he grabbed her. Stepping into it, she pulled it up her body and turned her back towards him so he could tie it for her.
"I think I can manage that." Logan went ahead and crossed the straps in the back like she instructed him to and tied it around her waist. He finished with kisses on her exposed back before retrieving her coat from the desk chair where it was thrown and holding it out for her to slip into.
She faced him again, pressing her hands against his chest and her lips against his. "Thank you handsome."
"You're very welcome gorgeous," he chuckled and leaned in for one more kiss. Taking her hands in his, he pulled her out to the common room where Colin, Steph, Finn, and Juliet were waiting.
"There's the happy couple, does this mean we're all ready?" Finn asked almost as soon as they stepped out of the bedroom.
"I believe it does." Logan pulled his own coat on and took Rory's hand again.
"Then away we go!" Finn led the group out of the dorm in his own flamboyant manner. They followed him outside to the limo, the wonderfully warm limo with champagne waiting for them.
Logan let Rory slide in before himself and wrapped his arm around her once seated. She happily laid her head on his chest for the lengthy ride to the Hartford society famous Cathedral of St. Joseph.
They arrived on time and only slightly buzzed on the champagne. Upon entering the cathedral, Logan and Rory took their place in the front with the family and their friends sat in the row behind them. Rory was slightly unsure about sitting with the Huntzbergers during the ceremony but was comforted by the fact that Mitchum wouldn't be there until after he walked Honor down the aisle. She was finally meeting Logan's whole family today, including his grandfather Elias whom she kept missing everywhere they went. Elias meant more to Logan than anyone, well anyone other than Rory and Honor. It was incredibly important to Logan that Rory and his Grandfather got along, and while he seemed to know they would, Rory was still apprehensive.
Choosing to focus on something else, she looked around the hall which had been turned into a gorgeous winter wonderland. Knowing Shira, Rory was surprised it wasn't snowing inside. She couldn't even imagine what the reception hall would look like.
Josh already stood at the altar looking nervous as all hell. She gave him a reassuring smile when he looked in her and Logan's direction.
Logan's lips on her temple broke her from her trance and she snuggled further into him while they waited for the wedding party to start down the aisle.
"It's gorgeous here," she said softly.
"I agree, my mother has good taste sometimes." She laughed with him as she entwined her hand with his left one that wasn't around her shoulder and rested them on her thigh. "Would you want to get married in a church?"
"Mm, probably not… I'm not all that religious so I don't think it would be appropriate or fitting for me. But I guess that depends on my husband huh?" She not so subtly shifted her gaze to his.
"I guess so," he agreed, her grin infectious. Before she could respond the music started and they both turned their attention to the aisle next to them.
Two by two Honor and Josh's closest friends walked down together until the music changed to the classic "Here comes the bride". Everyone stood as Honor and Mitchum appeared at the doors and began to walk. Honor looked absolutely stunning in her A-line silk gown with her blonde hair in curls and her veil held in place by a small tiara.
She grew closer to Josh who was becoming more emotional with every step his bride took towards him. And rightfully so.
Mitchum attempted to place her hand in Josh's but Honor did that herself, something that did not go unnoticed by Rory and Logan who exchanged a fleeting glance. They all sat down again when Mitchum did and Honor joined Josh at the altar. Mitchum had only a disapproving look for Rory and Logan but no words as he sat down next to his wife.
The ceremony was just as beautiful as the hall and the bride with the couple writing their own heartfelt vows. Logan held Rory the whole ceremony and he desperately hoped they were both thinking the same thing: one day that would be them.
When Josh was allowed to kiss his new wife and the ceremony came to an end, Logan leaned down and whispered his love in Rory's ear which she returned with a kiss. She wanted nothing more than to dance in his arms all night, but she knew she would have to share him with his family before she could have him all to herself.
Row by row everyone exited the hall and piled into their respective limos or town cars to head over the Bond Ballroom. Steph and Rory had been so moved by the ceremony and couldn't have been happier for Honor. Juliet didn't have much to add to that conversation, but they didn't expect anything else.
The ballroom had once again been completely transformed, however this time instead of Christmas trees, snowflakes and candles filled the room. Trees with the most amazing white flowers stood everywhere and the tables were set with precious silver and more candles. Their neutral gray, silver, and white colors were evident through the whole space.
Rory and Logan once again found their seats with the rest of the Huntzbergers at the second-round table, the first to be occupied by the happy couple and their wedding party. Once everyone had arrived and gotten drinks the new Mr. and Mrs. Abbot were introduced and stepped out onto the floor for their first dance as husband and wife. Honor chose to sway from tradition and skipped the father/daughter dance, opting instead for a brother/sister dance.
Rory gave up her boyfriend for the three minutes and did her best to comfort Shira who hadn't stopped crying since Honor made her entrance at the church. Now seeing her two kids up there, she was an emotional wreck.
"Thanks for doing this little bro," Honor said when he joined her on the dance floor.
"Are you kidding me? Anything for you, especially today Hon."
"Do you think dad's angry?"
"I think he's furious, but he can't do anything now, the checks have already been cashed. But if anything does happen you let me know and I'll deal with him," he told her as they swayed around the room.
"Thanks, again," she laughed. "Sooo… how long until this is you and the little Mrs.?"
"Would you stop calling her that, you're going to trip up and scare the crap out of her."
"You didn't answer my question…"
"I don't know Honor, probably not until she graduates and that if she even says yes."
"Are you kidding me? Of course she's going to say yes. That girl is so in love with you, how can you not see that?"
"I know she loves me, believe I know that, but… Honor she's perfect. This has got to be too good to be true."
"Maybe it seems like it but accept it bud, her last name isn't going to be Gilmore much longer," she giggled.
"God, I hope your right," he sighed. "Rory Huntzberger, Mrs. Logan Huntzberger, that sounds so fucking good." He couldn't help but steal a glance at his girl who was hugging his mom as they watched on. Rory gave him a smile and a kiss when he winked at her.
"Look at you, playboy to want to be husband in a matter of months. That girl is magic."
"You have no idea. She's… she's perfect, I don't have any other way to describe her. And she actually loves me Honor."
"I'm so happy for you," Honor whispered, leaning up to kiss his cheek. He smiled and they danced in silences for almost the rest of the song.
"I gave her grandma's locket." Honor looked up at him with wide eyes as the song faded out, her eyes watering for only a second before the tears poured down her face. She threw her arms around him and held him close.
"There's no way she graduates college as a Gilmore," she tried to joke through her tears. Her next dance is supposed to be with Elias so instead of waiting for him she walks back to the table with Logan. She surprised Rory by lifting her out of her seat and hugging her tightly just as she had done to Logan.
"Take good care of his heart," she whispered very quietly in Rory's ear before hugging her again. "You'll always have it."
"I promise." Rory held back her own tears as she answered her. "Now get back out there, congratulations Mrs. Abbot."
"Thank you," Honor kissed her cheek before heading out to the dance floor with her grandfather.
Rory sat back down with Logan and immediately turned his face toward her for a kiss. Mitchum and co be damned, she was going to kiss her boyfriend however she wanted. Her perfectly manicured hand stayed right there on his jawline while her lips moved against his and her tongue slipped into his mouth. It lasted no more than 15 seconds, but it was long enough and hot enough to leave her blushing and him mildly confused.
He assumed Honor said something to her, but what could she have possibly said to enlist a reaction like that? "I love you," is all she said when she let him breath again.
"I love you too Ace," he told her with a kiss to her forehead. She rested her head on his arm for the remainder of the dances they had to sit through, his cheek on her hair. He caught his dad watching them more than a few times but chose to ignore it, Mitchum was going to have to get over his problems with Rory because she wasn't going anywhere.
He, Rory, and Honor actually had a lot in common when it came to their dads. He could definitely see Rory doing the same things Honor did today like choosing him for the dance instead of Mitchum. Although Rory probably wouldn't even have Chris walk her down the aisle. And she wouldn't have to.
Honor felt obligated because Mitchum paid for the wedding, but Logan was going to give his girl the wedding of her dreams and Christopher would have no part of it. Chris might be ok with that actually, considering how much he hates Logan.
Once the first dances finished Logan went to the bar to grab drinks for him and Rory, leaving her with his mom and aunts. Rory was getting along very well with his mother's sisters, which he very much expected. He needed to hurry back so he could introduce her to Elias which he knew she was nervous about. They were going to get along instantly but he hadn't convinced her of that just yet.
He took his scotch and her martini back to the table only to find Rory and Elias already deep in conversation. "Did I tell you so or did I tell you so?" he asked as he walked up to them.
"You told me so." They both answered him as he handed Rory her drink and sat down next to her.
"So what are we talking about?"
"Oh just you and this lovely piece of jewelry around my neck." Rory fingered her locket as she answered him.
"It suits you," Elias told her, his eyes crinkling when he smiled.
"I'm glad you approve," she said, more than one meaning behind her words.
"I more than approve, hang on to her Logan."
"That's my plan grandpa." Logan smiled at Rory as she moved her hand from the locket to his thigh.
"Logan come dance with your mother," Shira made her way towards them and handed Elias her drink. Rory took Logan's from him before his mom knocked it out of his hand by trying to pull him out of his chair.
"It would be my pleasure," he said, dropping a kiss on Rory's lips before standing and leading Shira back to the middle of the room.
Logan and Rory stuck to Shira and Elias as much as they could. The four of them danced and talked for most of night, even through dinner where Mitchum tried and failed to butt into the conversation. Rory's parents also dropped by the table to see Mitchum and Shira and say hi to Rory. Honor had been swept up in her guests and wedding traditions and they hadn't seen her since she and Josh cut the cake.
The night was starting to wind down when Logan found himself at the table alone with his dad as he waited for Rory to return from dancing with his grandpa.
"It seems your sister is taking after you."
"Taking after me?" Logan chuckled though his dad was clearly trying to get a rise out of him. "Care to elaborate?"
"Pushing me away, even on her wedding day."
"Oh, I see. Well dad if you'd paid her even a lick of attention maybe she would have cared about the moments she was supposed to share with you on her wedding day."
"Ungrateful little," he muttered under his breath before stopping. "I've given her plenty of attention Logan that's ridiculous."
"You know attention and cash aren't interchangeable right?"
"Don't be a smart ass."
"It's part of my charm," he responded in his usual sardonic tone.
"That girlfriend of yours puts up with that?"
"Nope." He took another big swig of his scotch. "She doesn't have to though; I would never speak to her like that. I respect her too much."
"You're a brat. You and Honor had nothing but a perfect childhood full of attention."
"Yeah? You think so?" Logan turned in his seat to face his father. "You gave her attention when she was a little girl and didn't know any better when her dad rejected her in favor of work 24/7? You have her attention when she got in a car accident at 15 and you didn't even come to the hospital? You gave her attention when grandma died and instead of being there for any of us you went away with your secretary for the weekend?" Logan downed the rest of his scotch and loosened his tie. "No, your right dad, you have given her and the rest of us plenty of concern. We're the brats."
"Logan look-,"
"No. Honor had every right to ask me to dance with her instead and you should consider yourself lucky to have gotten to walk her down the aisle, she gave you that much."
"This is not the time or the place for this and-,"
"Then why did you bring it up? Why did you say anything to me at all? Why didn't you just sit here?"
"Maybe I should have."
"Damn right you should have." Logan sat back in his seat.
"Would you just listen to me," Mitchum didn't get to finish that thought either. The two men looked to the other side of the room when they heard a thud and quieter "Ow!"
"What the hell?" Logan stood up out of his chair to get a better look over all of the other people who had done the same. He only caught a glimpse of his girlfriend's dress on the floor before he bolted across the room. "Ace!"
When he could actually see her, she was sitting up on the floor with their friends and her parents standing above her. Everyone else seemed to be going back to what they were doing before so she couldn't have been that hurt. Chris seemed to be repeatedly offering to help her up, but she just shook her head.
"I'm fine sweetie." She assured him as soon as she could see him running toward her. She was embarrassed to have fallen in front of all of these people, who were luckily going away now, and she was annoyed with her dad for not leaving her alone, but she wasn't hurt.
"What happened? You didn't hit your head, did you?" he stopped in front of her and leaned down to pick her up. He even didn't know what was wrong yet, but he placed her in the closest chair to look over her.
"She's fine," Chris said.
"No disrespect, but I didn't ask you. Ace?"
"Just barely, hardly at all."
"What happened Hun?"
"Sorry mate, it was my fault," Finn told him from where he stood with the rest of their friends. "Gramps went to the little boy's room and I offered to dance with your girl here, I got a little too into it and kind of tripped her up."
"It's not your fault Finn, I'm just clumsy." Rory was quick to correct him. "And I'm ok Logan I promise, don't be angry with him."
"I'm not angry with him, I'm just worried about your head or anything else you hurt when you fell." He had yet to stop checking her for bruises or scrapes from where he knelt in front of her chair.
"I'm not hurt, I swear. I didn't even twist my ankle." She gently held his face in her hands and forced him to look at her. "I just fell baby; it happens to people every day."
"Pinky swear missy?"
"Pinky swear," she said, offering her little pinkie to entwine with his. "Your sweet to fuss over me, but I just tripped."
"Fine." He sighed and gave in, hoping she actually was ok. "I guess that means you'd be up for one more dance before we get out of here?"
"With you handsome? Always." She kissed him softly. "But just one, I'm done sharing for the night, I want you all to myself."
"You won't catch me complaining," he laughed, standing up and pulling her with him for one more dance.
A/N: I never do these at the end, but I wanted to put this here to let you guys know that if you have any suggestions for this story, I'm open to them. I know vaguely what's going to happen from here on out, but I love hearing my readers opinions. You can send me a PM or just leave a review if you've thought of anything :)
