Pluto

He knocked on Proserpine's door

"Proserpine?"

He heard nothing. That was to be expected. She was probably still upset.

"Look, about yesterday, that was NOT my idea. It was your fathers. I had no wish to kidnap you."

Still nothing. She was probably thinking 'you had no wish to do it, but you still did it'.

"Look, I apologize. Have you eaten? I can send for the best food in the realm for you."

Nothing. She must be really mad. Or maybe she knew if she ate food from here, she would be accepting his hospitality.

"Proserpine? May I come in?"

Nothing. He listened closely. Not even the sound of breathing. He opened the door slowly.

"Proserpine?"

She wasn't there. The bed was rumpled a bit. Everything else was untouched. He stared forlornly at his reflection. Wavy black hair, gray eyes, black stubble, and a black tunic over his pale, well-muscled, form.

He turned into light and zipped through the palace. No sign of her. He left the palace and changed into a hawk. He sailed over the field, the lava pits, anywhere she might be. His keen ears picked up a distant sound.

Howling. Arias. Heart racing he sailed towards the sound. It gradually got louder, and he could see the dust rising up from their pounding feet. But there was another dust cloud, ahead of them. Then he heard a distinct sound.

A woman's terrified scream. He swooped lower. His heart nearly stopped when he saw Proserpine running for her life. She was doing okay, but soon she would be overrun. If she chose to go straight.

Then, the unthinkable happened. She looked back to see how far away they were and tripped over a rock. She shrieked as she tumbled. Pluto dived, but the Aria were almost on top of her.
