(Student Council Room)
"What is he thinking?" Sona said, her eyes slowly widening at seeing Sora leave the clubroom on his own with nobody else with him. She even waited for a good twenty seconds for someone else to follow him, but there was none. The short-haired student council president even rubbed her eyes to see if she was dreaming or not. "Has Ishida-kun gone out of his mind to rush into battle alone?"
Her entire peerage shared the same reaction, looking shocked at Rias' pawn walking with his arms behind his head, as though he didn't care that this was an event to be taken seriously.
The only ones who didn't look surprised at the very least, were the two friends whose hearts stayed with Sora for some time. While Xion had a smile on her face at seeing the spiky brunette fearlessly head into battle, Roxas had a proud smirk on his face while crossing his arms.
"I told you that he'll be the first to head into battle." Roxas said smugly, earning everyone's attention. "If I had to make a guess, he's going to lure out the weaker ones on the enemy's side. Once he does that, he'll take on all of them at once and send a message to that blonde bastard that he shouldn't underestimate Rias Gremory and her peerage."
Sona blinked a few times at the conclusion that Roxas came to and hummed in deep thought. "I guess that's a reasonable plan to execute, but is he that strong to be confident enough to face off against Riser's servants alone?" She had no concrete idea of what Sora was capable of, only reading about it through a journal that Rias provided. Sona wasn't quite sure of what to think about this when the information she had was incomplete. "I thought you said earlier that Ishida-kun preferred it if his friends fought with him?"
Roxas shrugged his shoulders. "He does, but I don't see any need for Rias Gremory's other servants to involve themselves in this. They should conserve their strength instead for the harder battles."
"Kaichou, he's walking towards the gymnasium. Perhaps he'll be fighting the enemy there?" Tsubaki pointed out, noticing the place where Sora was heading.
"Let's see what happens then," Sona said in a serious tone as they watched on with complete interest.
(Tennis Clubroom)
"Oh my, it seems that Sora-chan went off on his own so quickly," Serafall gasped as soon as they saw the young brunette step out of the clubroom. That was a move that none of them saw coming. "I wonder what he's going to do…"
"I guess he's going to face off with the enemy alone," Aqua smiled. That was exactly how Sora saved her in the Realm of Darkness, and she couldn't be any more grateful for that, which is why she had to make up for her failure. "Sora would rather take on the biggest of monsters himself instead of letting his friends get hurt while fighting."
"Eh, Aqua-chan…" Serafall turned towards the keyblade master with a confused expression. "Don't you think that's quite cocky of him? He might get hurt badly if the Riser Phenex sends a group of his servants out to get him."
Aqua shook her head. "I believe in him, Lady Serafall. Sora has proven that he is capable of defying the odds every step of the way. In fact, I'm quite confused why he isn't considered a keyblade master yet."
"Wow…" Serafall's eyes lit up in excitement and happiness as she bounced up and down on her chair. "I want to meet Sora-chan after this! He seems like a really good guy! Maybe I can even have him in my show! Haha, I can see it now!" The Maou started twirling her staff as she imagined Sora working with her in an episode of her show. "Magical Levia-tan and the Master of the Keyblade, I like it!"
"Is she always like this?" Aqua sweat-dropped, wondering how a Devil King like Serafall could be so childlike when she had a lot of responsibilities on her shoulders.
"This boy interests me," said Sirzechs, looking intrigued. Much like his sister, Sora struck him like a puzzle and he wouldn't mind learning more about one of Rias' newest additions to her peerage. "Before I knew of his origins through that Gummiphone that Master Aqua had in her possession, Grayfia told me that Ria-tan spoke highly of him. She said that Sora was her only pawn, using up all 8 of her pawns to reincarnate him into a devil. However, she didn't say anything about his Sacred Gear or other abilities." Sirzechs remembered the silver-haired maid's exact words about the keyblade wielder. "Ria-tan only stated that Sora was a powerful human who caught her eye, perhaps she was talking about his keyblade?"
That got Aqua's attention as she raised an eyebrow. "How can that be? The keyblade is a weapon of light, it would be harmful for devils if they use it, including Sora."
"I guess we'll see things for ourselves, Master Aqua," Sirzechs smiled pleasantly as Sora went inside one of the school's smaller establishments. "He just entered the gymnasium, and it's only a matter of time before Riser responds with a move of his own."
"Please don't call me, 'Master', Lord Sirzechs," the blue-haired girl whispered in a voice that only she could hear. She turned her gaze away for a moment, being reminded of her failure yet again. "I don't believe I'm worthy of a title like that…"
(Riser's Base)
"This boy must be an idiot." Riser laughed after getting informed by one of his Knights that Rias' pawn, Sora Ishida, was on his way to the gymnasium with no on else. "I had a feeling he was childish when we first met, but I didn't think he would be this foolish to go out into battle alone."
"Is he nuts? Why is he going out there alone?!" Ravel thought to herself, looking confused with Sora all of a sudden. She tightened her grip on her dress out of worry, but she didn't think much of it. "He should know that big brother has a full set of servants and he'll be outnumbered either way!"
"Shall I go there and finish him off, Riser-sama?" asked the purple-haired Yubelluna, who was Riser's Queen.
"No, that would be too easy. Don't waste your power for such a task that isn't worth it. Three of my pawns should be able to deal with him." Riser said with a smug smile, before remembering a slight detail about the boy. That giant key that he saw Sora holding when they met was a mysterious weapon he didn't know about. Well, it won't matter in the end. That brat will soon realize how foolish it was to challenge a Phenex. "However, according to my sources, this boy is Rias' only pawn, using all 8 of her Evil Pieces to reincarnate him. He might have something up his sleeve and catch us off guard with it."
"Then what do we do, big brother?" Ravel asked. She never knew about that little bit about Sora, and it made her wonder what he was capable of doing.
"Ladies, go and deal with him," Riser turned towards all eight of his pawns. "Three of you shall test his abilities, five of you will watch from a distance. If he somehow proves to be stronger than what he looks like, work together to finish him off. He shouldn't be able to work properly against eight of you at the same time."
"Hai, Riser-sama!" All eight pawns nodded with serious looks, before leaving to do as they were told.
"Wow, looks like the devils that made this place are really strong…" Sora murmured as he walked inside the gym, observing the whole place.
It was dark, most of the lights are out, but he could still notice enough of the place that it looked exactly like the original one. It also had everything that the real gym had, and it was likely that it would be the same for the other places around here. The keybearer was amazed that all the details of the original Kuoh Academy were copied effortlessly into this alternate dimension.
"Alright, I'm here… now to wait for whoever Riser decides to send out to fight me." Sora thought with a serious look, walking slowly around the massive hall and pretending to be interested in the things around him, before he heard three other voices in the place.
"He really came here on his own!"
"He may be cute, but he's so stupid."
"Riser-sama was right, he's an idiot!"
Sora quickly turned his head to the source of those voices, where he met face-to-face with his adversaries. The boy was shocked and actually had to rub his eyes a few times in case he was dreaming, when he saw two girls revving up chainsaws with shit-eating grins on their faces.
What the hell?! Little girls shouldn't be allowed to use such dangerous equipment!
The duo holding the chainsaws looked to be twins. They were a pair of very young girls with turquoise hair, which they kept tied to one side with a yellow ribbon, and blue eyes. Their clothes were similar to the girls' gym uniform of the academy, only that they didn't have the logo.
"W-Woah, aren't you both too young to be holding those…?" Sora asked, a little worried for the two girls in case they end up harming themselves instead of him.
"Yes. Yes, we are. Ile and Nel! We are Riser-sama's pawns!" The twins answered at the same time, taking a step forward which caused Sora to move back out of instinct with a sheepish grin. Geez, little girls keep surprising him in this world. First, Koneko-chan, Ravel, and now these two. (Reference time)
"I am Mira, another one of Riser's pawns! Surrender now, because you are outnumbered, servant of Gremory!" said the third girl who smirked at him. She was another young girl with light blue hair styled in four short ponytails, two of which were pointed up while the other two were pointing down. Her eyes were light brown, and her outfit made her look like she was a practitioner of kendo which went well with the staff that she was wielding.
Sora continued to grin in a sheepish manner, before he let out a sigh. This wasn't how he wanted this to go down. But, oh well. He shouldn't be feeling this way for the people who's supposed to be his enemy.
"Looks like I have to take out three young girls first… I'm sorry about this, but I have to send a message to your master about underestimating my friends." He bowed his head politely, before summoning the Oathkeeper keyblade and getting into his fighting stance, now donning a more serious look on his face.
"I haven't seen that keyblade before…" Sona said in slight awe. She definitely wasn't expecting Sora to bring a white-themed keyblade with an star as its keychain. "The one that Rias showed me in Ishida-kun's journal looked more simple than this…"
While the Sitri peerage were anticipating the battle that was about to ensue, Xion noticed the keyblade that Sora held in his hand. "Roxas, isn't that one of your keyblades?" she asked curiously.
"It is," he confirmed. Hang on, if Sora was able to wield Oathkeeper right now, it must mean that he can also use the Oblivion keyblade. A pleased grin spread across his face as a result. "Looks like he still has those keyblades with him, that's a good thing then."
"What do you mean, Roxas-senpai?" asked Ruruko.
"That keyblade he's holding isn't just any other keyblade," he explained. "It's a symbol of Sora's memories of Kairi, and it's a weapon filled with the power of light. No wonder Sora decided to use it."
"But aren't all keyblades generally considered 'weapons of light'?" Tsubaki asked, raising an eyebrow. The topic of keyblades was something that intrigued her to the point that it was a big question mark on how Sora Ishida was able to turn into a devil.
"What Roxas meant to say, Sona-kaichou… is that keyblade," Xion spoke up as she pointed to the weapon that Sora currently held. "Its power is mainly focused on light."
It took a few seconds for realization to kick in as Sona had a serious look on her face while nodding. "I understand now. This must be Ishida-kun's plan all along, and I'm quite surprised that he managed to convince Rias of this. It is still foolish, but I admit that it gives Rias a huge advantage if this goes well."
"What is it, Kaichou? Did you figure it out?" Tsubasa asked in confusion.
Sona turned towards her peerage. "While Ishida-kun is now a devil, he can still use light as a weapon to fight against his enemies. That alone gives him the advantage in this fight even if he is outnumbered. To add to that, the keyblade he summoned mainly utilizes light as its natural element. All of you should realize by now what this means for Riser Phenex's side."
Everyone else widened their eyes slowly upon hearing those words, while also understanding the reason why Sora decided to head to the gym alone. Meanwhile, Xion smiled as she knew that Sora could handle himself and Roxas began to chuckle.
"That's not even the best part," he continued.
Tomoe tilted her head and leaned close towards the spiky blonde. However, it didn't look like he was affected by it whatsoever. "What do you mean by that, Roxas-chan?"
Roxas turned back towards the monitor, before smiling at all of them, oblivious to the blushes that erupted on the faces of the student council members.
"You'll see."
"I don't believe it," Aqua gasped as she watched Sora summon a keyblade right before her eyes. She was lightly bothered that the young keybearer was going up against three girls who were way younger than him, but she paid it no heed. Until now, that is. "It should be impossible for him to summon a keyblade now that he's a devil! It's going to hurt him and worse, that keyblade he's holding is imbued with the power of light."
"Hmm… I guess the Evil Pieces in Sora-chan were able to sustain his powers as a human," Serafall said in a rare moment of seriousness. She too was taken aback when Sora summoned his keyblade as if it never left.
Aqua turned her attention towards Serafall. "W-What does that mean?"
"You see, Master Aqua…" Sirzechs spoke, already understanding the situation. "The Evil Piece system is designed to reincarnate humans into devils. Most of the time, high-class devils choose humans with powerful Sacred Gears to turn them into devils. Once a human is reincarnated, he retains the original abilities he possesses and they might even be augmented with the powers that come with being a devil."
"But Sora doesn't have a Sacred Gear," Aqua argued. The topic of Sacred Gears and humans was one of the things she learned from the lectures given to her by the four Maou about this world. "He's not from this world either, so how can it be so easy for the piece system to adapt to him?"
"That is a question I cannot answer at this very moment." Sirzechs frowned, now in the same state of confusion like Aqua. He wasn't sure if the Evil Piece System was capable of reincarnating people from other worldlines, which was something he'll have to ask Ajuka when they get back to the Underworld. "The only thing we can do right now is hope we get the answers we seek in the future, Master Aqua."
The blue-haired master looked like she was about to say something else, but kept silent. "I understand, Lord Sirzechs."
"W-What's that…?" Ile asked, taken aback with the white-looking key that Sora was holding in his hand.
"T-T-This is bad!" Her twin exclaimed in fear, taking a few steps back as she kept her gaze locked on the Oathkeeper keyblade. "That key he's holding… it's made of light! That servant of Gremory can use light as a weapon! We'll be dead if we get hit by that!"
"B-But how? Isn't he a devil?!"
"Who cares?!" said Mira whose hairstyle made her look like a stag beetle. She smirked at Sora, who seemed indifferent to the conversation that they were having. "As long as you dodge it, you'll be fine! Follow my lead, we'll take on him together!"
With that, she charged at Sora with her staff at the ready. As soon as she closed the distance, she swung her weapon at him, only for the boy to block it with his own. The girl frowned and tried to attack from different directions, but Sora was able to block her staff every time. Looks like this boy knew how to properly defend herself, and this won't be good if this drags out for longer than it should be.
She quickly turned to her two comrades, who had not moved from their place at all, looking scared about facing off against someone with a weapon that was harmful to their kind. "Why are you two just standing over there? Help me deal with him!" she called out.
Unfortunately, this little slip-up would cause her to be left open for Sora to take advantage. As soon as the girl turned her attention back towards the keyblade wielder, he was already out of sight and went behind her with great speed.
"Sorry about this!" Sora exclaimed with a small grin, before delivering a hard kick straight towards her back and sending her rolling away across the floor. He quickly turned his head to the loli twins, who both flinched upon realizing they were now his targets. However, the two managed to fight back their fears and raised their chainsaws high.
"W-We can't let him go any further!"
"We have to beat him for Riser-sama…!"
The two raised their chainsaws and charged towards Sora, whose grin widened before he twirled his keyblade in his hand. "I'm not going to waste any more time!" he exclaimed, before his body became covered in bright light.
(Play - "Tension Rising")
[BOOST! BOOST! BOOST! BOOST! BOOST! BOOST! BOOST! BOOST! BOOST! BOOST!]
"Haaagghhh!" When the light simmered down, Sora's school uniform had been changed into a white-themed version of his original clothing, which was known as his Light Form. The two twins stopped in their tracks and looked at him in complete shock, as Sora pointed his keyblade towards them both before narrowing his eyes.
While this was happening, the young brunette was completely unaware of the reactions that he caused almost everywhere.
"I-I-It can't be…" Sona gasped out, her eyes widening almost immediately as soon as she heard those words. Her hearing wasn't playing any tricks on her, and she knew what she heard. Her face was in utter disbelief, which was uncharacteristically different for the cold and calculating President of the student council.
Tsubaki followed her leader's reaction, and even though she was like Sona in terms of having a cold exterior, it didn't stop her eyes from going wide and her mouth from hanging agape.
"Ishida-kun… h-he's…"
"Hey, is something wrong everyone?" Roxas asked, noticing that everybody had gone quiet just now. He quickly noticed the looks of disbelief on Sona and Tsubaki's faces, before he saw that the other girls shared the same expressions too, though not as much as Sitri girl, which was strange.
The one thing they all had in common was that they were all staring at the monitor, particularly at Sora going through one of his transformations.
"Is it really a big shock to all of you? Sora normally does this when he needs more power to fight against an enemy."
"Roxas, I don't think they're shocked at seeing Sora transform…" Xion called out to her friend, gaining his attention. Compared to everyone else, she looked confused more than anything. Her ears also picked up that sound, and she didn't know how to feel about it. "I think… they're more concerned with that voice we heard just now."
"You mean that 'boost' thing that we heard over and over?" Roxas raised an eyebrow. Of course, he heard it but as oblivious as he was, he didn't think too much of it. "I don't know what that was about… maybe one of the servants of that arrogant Phenex had a power-up, or something?"
Xion shook her head with a frown. "I think… that noise we heard… it came from Sora."
"I don't believe it…" Sirzechs breathed out, his eyes widening for a few moments before his expression turned gravely serious, just from the sight of Sora transforming into a new form. However, that wasn't what caught his attention. It was that ominous sound that went along with it, which immediately rang inside his ears as though it was amplified through a megaphone.
There was no mistake about it. That sound could come from one particular Sacred Gear, or rather Longinus, and Sirzechs knew full well what it was.
"How can this be? How can that boy have it, when he is from another universe?" he asked to no one in particular, looking terribly confused which wasn't befitting for a Maou like him.
"Lord Sirzechs, is something wrong? Is it that voice which we heard just now?" Aqua asked in concern, also confused with what it was since it just came out of nowhere. Of course, she didn't think it had anything to do with Sora.
A red magic circle then appeared inside the room, where Grayfia emerged from it as she walked towards the crimson-haired Maou.
"What is she doing here? I thought she was going to referee the whol Rating Game?" Aqua thought, seeing Grayfia arrive at the strangest of times just to talk with Sirzechs. When they met in the Underworld, she had introduced herself as a maid of the Gremory family, and that included Sirzechs. She looked as stoic as ever, although there was a hint of shock on her face if looked upon closely, something that Aqua caught on to. It left the keyblade master curious on what could be the problem.
"Shall I stop the match, Sirzechs-sama?" she asked with her hands clasped in front of her waist. "You know that this has now become a matter that supercedes the whole Rating Game, even Rias-sama's livelihood."
While Aqua looked confused on why the match would be stopped all of a sudden, Sirzechs gritted his teeth and shook his head afterwards.
"Let the match proceed. We need more answers as to how Rias' pawn is in possession of one of the lost Longinus, and perhaps we'll find out more as the Rating Game continues." he said in a stern voice, which clearly indicated that it was a direct order.
"As you wish, Sirzechs-sama." Grayfia nodded and teleported out of the room via another magic circle, prompting the blue-haired keyblade master to finally speak up.
"Lord Sirzechs, what is going on?" she asked with a deep frown out of confusion. She may not know much about this new world she was in, but she knew enough to be curious about a few things. "What did Miss Grayfia mean with her words? Why stop this Rating Game out of nowhere? Is it because of Sora?"
"I'm afraid so, Master Aqua." Sirzechs gave a stiff nod, retaining his serious expression as he stared at the monitor.
"How can Sora be the host of one of those lost Longinus? You told me that nobody has ever found any of them ever since they were created by the God from the Bible. Furthermore, he's not from this world in the first place." Aqua spoke the obvious truth, although it was clear that nobody paid attention to her.
"I'm afraid… there's more to Sora-chan than what you know about him, Aqua-chan… but we'll find out the answer in this match." Serafall chimed in, looking equally serious as well with no trace of her childish personality present on her features.
Various traps were already set around the perimeter of the old school building thanks to Yuuto and Koneko, as well as some defensive spells placed both on the ground and the sky because of Akeno. As soon as Sora left for the gymnasium, everyone else worked on making sure the clubroom was secure so that their base wouldn't go down easily. When they were done, everyone gathered back inside the clubroom to wait for Sora to be finished with the gym before they proceed with the next part of the plan.
Through the communicator that was on Sora's ear, Rias and the other members of her peerage were able to clearly hear what was going on with the young keybearer, which included that draconic voice that sputtered out the same words over and over.
Just by hearing that voice, it caused Rias and everyone else (except for Asia) to stiffen up out of pure shock, to the point that they almost forgot were fighting in a Rating Game at this very moment. They knew exactly what it meant, because it was common knowledge for nearly all supernatural beings to learn about those thirteen god-killing weapons.
"There's no way…" Yuuto breathed out, in complete disbelief to the point that he fell back towards the couch as he looked towards the floor.
Koneko wasn't faring well, either. She was like a statue right now, only that her eyes widened considerably as a sign of her shock. "W...Wasn't it supposed to be lost…? Why does Sora-senpai have it?"
"Um…" Asia looked worried for the state of everyone else, clasping her hands in front of her. She had no idea what was going on, mainly because she didn't know anything about them. "I-Is everyone alright? I'm sure Sora-san is okay, we can still hear him clearly."
"I can't believe it…" Even Akeno had dropped her usual smiling expression, taken aback with this revelation just as much as everyone else before she turned towards her leader with a serious look. "Rias, do you know what this means?"
"He was right all along…" Rias thought with wide eyes, remembering the words of that fallen angel whom she fought against when him and his comrades showed up in Kuoh weeks ago. She looked towards Akeno and bit her lip nervously. "I do," the redhead nodded. "Sora… he's… he's…"
Unbeknownst to Rias, the next words that came from her mouth would also be the words that will change their world forever.
"...he's the Red Dragon Emperor."
And there we go. All the suspicions that Rias was having about Sora, with some from Azazel and the fallen angels, Luxu's words, Yozora/Vali's reveal, and Lurdo's 'mission' were all treated as buildup for this very moment. He never used his Formchanges in front of others so far, and this is the first time that Sora did so in front of many people. That was all on purpose, hehe. Now that Sirzechs and Serafall know about Sora being the host of the Boosted Gear, it pretty much means the whole Underworld will know and eventually, the entire world.
The big question is how Sora became the host of Ddraig, when he's not even from this world… or is he? How will Aqua, Roxas, and Xion react to this? Questions that are hard to answer but will be dealt with in the future. Next chapter should be interesting, because we'll finally see some action from the newly-revealed Red Dragon Emperor.
Goodbye… and good night! BANG! *too sweet gesture*
