Natsuki Subaru the sword shadow
Natsuki Subaru gasped at the gruesome death at the hands of the bowel hunter that left him bleeding out on the floor of the loot house. Subaru clawed at his jacket and stared at his stomach that was not cut open from his last encounter to his relief., he remembered the last moments in which he lied on the ground next to the corpse of Satella and made his promise
I WILL SAVE YOU
"Aye boy are you going to buy the appa or not"
"Hey, mister how many times have you seen me today?"
The appa merchant's face twisted up in confusion "I've never seen you before weird kid, are you gonna buy the appa or not?"
Subaru grinned and struck a pose with a thumb pointing to his face and proudly said "sorry but I'm broke beyond compare!"
"Then get the hell out of here, I don't serve broke kids!"
Subaru muttered in the alleyway "so if I have the power to return by death this must explain why I keep waking up in front of that angry appa guy, that must mean that return by death works on a savepoint syst-"
Subaru stopped what he was saying as the three muggers approached him. The lanky one in the middle drew his dagger and spoke with a smirk
"What the hell are you talking about, are you crazy or something"
His small companion to the left sneered
"Drop all you have or things are going to get messy"
Subaru pondered 'in one of the loops they said something about guards, that should mean that this world has some kind of law enforcement'
Subaru stamped his foot into the ground and changed his voice to the highest pitch he could handle and screamed out
"GUARDS PLEASE HELP ME, GUARDS!"
The three mugger's posture changed from confidant to scared and panicked, the largest mugger with the bandana got into a stance and glanced towards his comrades
"CRAP the guards, let's beat this guy and take his stuff quick!" before they could take another step a silhouette turned the corner he had an elegant sword on his hip and his hair was red like flames of passion and his cobalt blue eyes emanated righteousness.
"That's enough"
The robbers paled as they realize who it was that stood before them
"Oh fuck its the master swordsman Reinhard Van Astrea we need to go guys" the lanky whispered just loud enough for everyone to hear.
Reinhard spoke "It appears that you know who I am the nickname is a bit much though"
The fat mugger spoke in a panicked manner "it's not worth it, let's go!"
Reinhard glanced towards Subaru, smiling "I'm glad you called for the guards most people would try to fight, Are you unharmed?"
"Hey, why did they call you the master swordsman what's that about?"
Reinhard gawked at Subaru
"Do you know what the sword saint is?"
Subaru just simply replied, " What's the sword saint?"
Reinhard didn't know what to think of the boy before him because he had ventured across the entirety of Lugnica going across the lands and in each and every one of the towns, cities, camps and settlements people had recognised him and rejoiced and Each time the new sword saint would be announced it would be announced nationwide, what made it even more questionable is that the sword saints each have a title and most have fairy tales with them in it and for someone to not know who the sword saint is was a concept alien to Reinhard.
"Subaru where do you come from again?"
The boy released he had said something wrong and struggled to come up with an answer. He raised his hands and announced to Reinhard
"I come from a land to the east but you wouldn't know of it rarely any of my people leave my land and once we leave its hard to go back"
Reinhard stood there using his divine protection of lie detection
"You are lying to me, luginica is the furthermost east country of this land, beyond is the great waterfall and there is nothing beyond there so tell me again, where do you come from"
Subaru let out a breath
"Sorry but could I tell you later I need your help with something that's happening in the slums There is going to be a fight at a loot house and the bowel hunter is going to be there"
Reinhard's eyes widened "the bowel hunter is in the slums" he paused and thought 'the bowel hunter is a wanted killer, this is more important than questioning Subaru about his homeland"
"Sorry about that I'll ask you about where you come from soon but I'm going to need you to come with me, sorry about my introduction but would you like to be friends? After all its appears that you don't have many if you wandered into an alley alone"
Subaru glanced down clearly thinking about something personal.
Reinhard tried to raise his spirits by saying "anyways we need to leave the bowel hunter should be striking soon according to your information.
Subaru turned his head up and pulled a toothy grin with his renewed confidence
"YEAH I'M READY TO KICK SOME ASS"
he paused and said under his breath "and yeah it would be nice to be friends"
Reinhard smiled 'I guess this was the first time in a while I've had a friend'
Subaru stood outside of the loot house, the sun was still up in the air so Elsa must not have arrived at the loot house yet, he glanced to the side
"Listen, Reinhard, I can give them something worth the insignia that they stole"
Subaru realized that he had not explained to Reinhard that Satella or whatever her real name was lost her insignia. Reinhard spoke in a confused manner "what are you talking about?"
Subaru explained" oh right this girl I knew who went by an alias lost her insignia because someone stole it from her that's why the bowel hunter is there, the girl who lost her insignia stands out in a crowd because she has white hair, bluish-purple eyes oh and she is absolutely gorgeous you might have seen her before"
Reinhard asked a follow-up question while glancing at his surroundings
"What was the insignia like Subaru?"
"Oh it has a red gem that had a drawing of a dragon on it"
Reinhard's eyes widened as the description that Subaru said was something of great value
"SUBARU THAT WAS AN INSIGNIA THAT QUALIFIES SOMEONE FOR THE ROYAL SELECTION, WE HAVE TO GET THAT BACK!"
Subaru was about to reply but an icicle impaled the loot house that they had arrived at "shit we're late" Subaru spoke with urgency as he sprinted towards the building with Reinhard at his side. To Subaru's surprise Reinhard grabbed a rusty metal sword that was conveniently on the ground he held it up above his shoulder and blue hue engulfed the sword while they charged through the building, the wooden panels of the building didn't put up a fight when they charged through.
The sight before Subaru was mortifying, Elsa was just about to attack Emilia, and he recalled that this was the time in all the past loops where everything went wrong and he screamed desperately "PUCK SHIELD!" A blue ice flake shaped shield appeared at the back of Emilia and the cat-like spirit appeared and spoke to Subaru
"Thanks, stranger you saved us"
The women who killed Subaru in the past three loops and who has killed many more innocents stepped out of the shadow with a disturbing blush on her face and spoke with a voice that did not match the monster that she was
"My my to think that the half-elf was contracted to a great spirit is very exciting" she smirked while drawing her blades
"I've never seen a great spirit's bowels before, I wonder what they look like" she ended her sentence with a disgusting giggle that sent chills down Subarus' spine.
A loud voice interrupted Elsa's crazed giggles "stop vile bowel hunter for I am Reinhard van Astrea and I am here to stop you and put an end to your killing of innocents"
Felt and rom glance to the figure that was before them and realized that they were safe now, Satella breathed a sigh of relief that the fight was over but winced when she tried to get up and Elsa let out a laugh of a maniac
"Let's fight swords saint I've always wondered what your family's guys are like" Elsa exclaimed
"Very well" Reinhard attempted to draw the dragon blade but it seemed it couldn't draw so he raised the rusted blade above his head with a disappointing look on his face that this fight will end effortlessly as they always do before he could swing his blade Subaru spoke to him
"Hey, Reinhard when this is done could you teach me some of that sword stuff that you do?"
Reinhard's frown of disappointment turned to a simile of hope of what to come
"Yeah sure Subaru I would be happy"
His blade swung down cleaving the air itself, all anyone could see was the bright light as if it was 1000 suns after what felt like days the light subsided
Leaving the side that Elsa was on a pile of dust, Subaru was astounded at the power that Reinhard had displayed. 'I guess he's the protagonist of this world'
"Hey Subaru I'm going to report this back to the guards so they can clean this up I'll be back in a moment"
Subaru began to think about how he thought Elsa who was seemingly invincible in his eyes yet Reinhard defeated him in a single swing but Subaru's thoughts were interrupted as the grunt of Satella alerted him that she was hurt. The blood drained from Subaru's face as Satella was in the corner with a deep cut in her stomach that was from the battle that ended seconds ago. Subaru mind raced 'Not again Not again Not again Not again'.Puck at her side trying to stay ethereal
"STRANGER HELP EMILIA PLEASE"
Subaru was stuck Emilia was bleeding out on the floor he asked the spirit
"How can I help, please tell me!"
Puck tried to explain
"USE YOUR MAGIC"
"HOW DO I USE MAGIC"
Puck screamed "YOU HAVE A GATE CHANNEL IT IMAGEN THAT YOUR DRAWING WATER FROM A RIVER, NOW CHANNEL THAT AND CAST A SPELL"
Subaru visualized him drawing water from a river with a cup and shadows coalesced around him and he watched with grim fascination
"Dammit I'm running out of time, listen Subaru that is not enough you need to heal it quicker, imagine that you're drawing more water!"
Subaru in his mind visualized him at the river again running to where the water is, he dug at the pond's boundary he has tunnelled his magic to create a hand as they clawed away at the boundaries keeping the water in and it broke creating a waterfall of magic to fuel his spell.
Subaru opened his eyes and the entire shack was black with writhing shadows and with Subaru's will he commanded the living shadows that coated the walls with the strength he had left and with his body about to collapse from exhaustion he witnessed the shadows harden and flow into the wound Emilia had. in satisfaction Subaru sigh but came up with blood instead and from behind he heard the voice
"Mmmm what lovely guts you have"

Was all Subaru felt as the blade twisted in his stomach tearing at his bones and muscles as Elsa laughed at his agony he cried, he tried to scream but blood came up instead of his voice all he could hear was Elsa's giggles as she turned him over to clutch his guts
A bright light flashed throughout the half room and instead, he heard an unusually calm voice saying
"What the hell are you doing to my friend"
Subaru opened his eyes in time to see Reinhard's shining blue eyes filled with hatred at Elsa and the flash of a blade taking off Elsa's head. Subaru fell unconscious as Reinhard got on his knees to heal Subaru.
