Chapter 3: Road to Viridian City.

Tommy walked down Route 1, keeping an eye out for any wild Pokemon.

"I wonder what kind of Pokemon I'll find first." Tommy said before a small bird-like Pokemon flew up into a tree.

"What's that?" Tommy asked.

"Pidgey, the Small Bird Pokemon. It is the most common and easiest Flying Pokemon to capture." the PokeDex said.

"All right then. Go, Zubat!" Tommy said as he sent out Zubat.

"Zubat, Tackle Attack!" Tommy said. Zubat rushed at Pidgey, only for it to use a Gust attack to blow Zubat back.

"Zubat, use Supersonic!" Tommy said. Zubat let out a powerful screech that sent blue sound waves at Pidgey, confusing it in the process.

"Now, Zubat, use Tackle one more time!" Tommy said. Zubat rushed at Pidgey and hit it head on, knocking it to the ground.

"Pokeball, Go!" Tommy said, throwing a Pokeball at Pidgey. The bird Pokemon was zapped inside before the ball shook until it dinged.

"All right!" Tommy said.

Later, as they got closer to Viridian City, Tommy ran into a blue Nidoran.

"Wow, a Nidoran! Pidgey, go!" Tommy said as he sent Pidgey out, only for it to be slumped on the ground.

"Uh-oh, guess I need to let it rest first." Tommy said as he recalled Pidgey and sent out Zubat, who looked tired, but still ready to battle.

"Zubat, Supersonic!" Tommy said. Zubat did the same thing it did with Pidgey, but Nidoran powered through the confusion and tackled Zubat, sending it flying back.

"Zubat, can you still battle?" Tommy asked. Zubat struggled up and nodded.

"All right, Wing Attack!" Tommy said. Zubat rushed towards Nidoran as it prepared itself for a Tackle, but was caught off-guard when it clipped it with its wing.

"Now, Tackle!" Tommy said. Zubat rushed from behind Nidoran and tackled it in the back, sending it to the ground.

"Pokeball, Go!" Tommy said, throwing a Pokeball at Nidoran. The ball shook for a good while this time, but eventually dinged. Tommy smirked before he recalled Zubat and headed to a clearing in the route woods. He saw a town that had a building with a red roof that was matched by one with a blue roof. There were also a few houses and a huge building with a brown roof.

"All right, this must be Viridian City." Tommy said.

He then saw another Trainer walking by and said, "Excuse me, do you know somewhere I can get my Pokemon rested and healed?"

"Of course, the Pokemon Center. It's the building with the red roof." the Trainer said.

Tommy thanked the Trainer and headed inside said building.

"Please, heal my Pokemon." Tommy said, giving his Pokeballs to the nurse behind the counter.

"Of course." the nurse said.

Tommy sat in a chair while he waited for his Pokemon to be healed, when he noticed a phone nearby. It had a screen near it, showing it was a video phone.

"Maybe I should make a few calls to home." Tommy said.

Back at Wayne Manor, Bruce and Diana were in the Batcave, working on something when they suddenly heard their own video phone ringing.

They walked into the hallway and answered it, both smiling when they saw Tommy.

"Hello, Tommy." Diana said.

"Hey, Mom and Dad." Tommy said.

"How's the journey so far?" Bruce asked.

"Great, I've already been to Pallet Town and I'm spending the night in Viridian City's Pokemon Center." Tommy said.

"Great. Have you caught any Pokemon?" Diana asked.

"Yeah, I've got a Pidgey and a Nidoran." Tommy said.

"Huh, well, you seem to be doing very well. Here's something you should know. Once you have more than six Pokemon, other Pokemon you catch will be automatically sent to the PC." Bruce said.

"I gotcha." Tommy said before an announcement suddenly came over a loudspeaker.

"Attention, citizens of Viridian City! Our radar scopes have just detected an airborne vessel belonging to a gang of Pokemon thieves! If you have a Pokemon in your possession, exercise extreme caution!" the announcement said.

It was true, as there was a balloon in the sky above Viridian City. The balloon was shaped like a Meowth...
