Marcus, Fred and George followed the girls to the carriages. Leili had Morgan perched on her shoulder and Jo's Artemis circled over-head. The girls were chatting emphatically about something and Marcus looked at Fred, leaning around George slightly to whisper, "I'm always going to be second best, aren't I?"

Jo called for Spike with her customary whistle. The Monster Book of Monsters launched himself off the roof of a carriage and, using his cover as a pair of wings, flew after Artemis. "Spike!" Jo scolded. Spike gave a funny sort of noise before dropping into Jo's arms. George grinned.

"I hate to break it to you but, I think that's Spike," Fred told him.
